Good evening, early part of the day was very warm, then a cold front has moved in, suppose to be very cool to morrow.  May go down in the high 30's to night in the Pine Barrons

Mary Ann, I have watched the Players Golf since day one.  I was so suprise to see the see all the great golfers, that did not make the cut. Last year Ricky Fowler one, and he did not make the cut this time.

This is a very interesting golf course to watch, it is tough.

June Drabek

Gloria de, did you golf at one time? I did when I first got married but when the children started coming along they killed the golfing for me. Ed played now and then with the fellows from work, but I lost interest.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Kelly

Hi June
I played golf for a time, how good was I!

Well I cannot even hold a golf now, but if I could I would be better player now than then.

It shows how bad I played golf!

Hi everyone.  It is another beautiful day but cooler morning and only expected to get to 78 degrees by mid-afternoon.  I am fixing Pat's breakfast this morning to help her get around (she is not a fast starter in the morning) so we can get to Sunday School on time.  We will then attend church and eat out somewhere and then spend a quiet afternoon and evening.  I watched some of the golf yesterday afternoon as they were having a terrible time with the course as it was playing extremely difficult.  I will try to catch the finish of the Tourney this afternoon.

Joan, nice you have a spare book reader now.  What media do you get the books and do they require a special reader.  It seems that $400 for a reader is pretty expensive.

MaryPage, Annapolis does sound like a good place to live if you want a lot of different activities and events.  Hope you enjoy the Kayak Regatta.

MarsGal, spinal arthritis is certainly a painful thing.  My wife suffers some from arthritis in her back.  I am very fortunate in that I don't have any arthritis.

Patricia, it is getting pretty warm early up your way.  I do remember coming to Fairbanks in July or August and thought I was going to cook it was so hot.

Mary Ann, it is nice that Tom has good friends to be around and eat with since he works at home.  It is easy to become isolated.  Most of the men I now have coffee with have lost there wives and they go out to eat in the evenings together I think about three times a week.  Several of them also go on tours together and will be going to Branson, Missouri in early June.

deAngel, that older player yesterday seemed to be about the only one who didn't have a really rough day at that Tourney.  That one hole that is almost completely surrounded by water is really a scary one.  I wonder where they will place the pins today to make the course even harder?

Kelly, we probably would have made good partner's playing golf as I had to be about the world's worst player.  I never could get the ball in the air that you are suppose to.  I quickly decided golf wasn't for me.

Good Morning to another warmer day!

Larry, that pressure area is still keeping the moisture away from us and I know forest fires are a good possibility especially with the record low snowfall last winter, but I and others, are certainly hoping for a nice, warm, uneventful summer this season!

It sounds like that golf tourney had something to tantalize both the viewers and the players.

I awakened this morning to Farrah tromping around on my bed and on the top of the nearby dresser. Last evening she thoroughly explored the living room, even going through the toy bowl. Upon my getting up, she attempted to lead me to the kitchen, to her dishes, and was frustrated by my bathroom, teeth brushing stop over.

She now knows a crackling bag means treats not a danger and she sniffs the toys even if she looks at me oddly when I try to interest her in playing. She is communicating by clicks, small whines, and other noises, even talking to herself, perhaps expressing boredom at the lack of adventure found in the living room? But never a meow or usual cat sounds.

She is still frightened of loud noises, sudden, unexpected  movements, new people or the bathroom. Although, since I know at her last foster home, she was kept separate in the bathroom, that's understandable. She has also taken to marking me occasionally by rubbing against my legs in passing.

I had friends over yesterday afternoon and again last night and she remained under the bed at all times, unfortunately.

A habit of hers I find funny is her reaction to groups of people passing or gossiping in the hallways outside. She will sit at least six feet away from the door listening. Then when it is again quiet, she will approach the door and sniff along the bottom, underneath from right to left and then up along the side of the door, before deciding all danger has passed.

I'm off to another quiet day and hope to open just the screen door to the balcony for coolness and not to send Farrah back under the bed for the duration! I do have some PSP classes to work on and some going through of a few drawers that I promised myself to stop avoiding. So I best get to it as my Mom used to say.

Larry, I bought mine from LS&S  online.  They must be approved thru the Library of Congress but since I am already listed with them it is no problem.  Reader should be here the beginning of this week.  Will need Dan to help of course set it up. Yes they are expensive.  Had one for the last version of readers they had and it was not cheap either.  Just thankful  it was an early birthday present from the Farmer.  ;)

angelface555

The farmer grows more interesting, Joan. Imagine that. 8)

Who or what is LS&S online?

wjoan

Angel, tis a Low Vision specialist.  They have all sorts of stuff for those of us that legally blind.

Mary Ann

This morning while at church, we had snow.  Not much, but we could see it on the ground.

Patricia, Kendrick very seldom meows.  He does when he is outside and wants to come in from the decks.  I don’t hear him because I have a storm door closed but I can see him.  I have heard him in the house, but almost never.  If we go to the front door, he beats me there, but I don’t let him out that way unless I am going to the mailbox and will return shortly, then he has to come in with me.  I can leave him on the deck for about 10 minutes.

In a few minutes, I’ll turn on the golf channel or NBC whichever carries the golf tour.  It is surprising that both Fowler and Spieth did not make the cut.  Larry, that 17th hole is something else.  Did you see Knox hit three balls into the water before finally getting one on the green?

I have sight issues as well. A strange type of lazy eye as the muscles behind the pupils are weak and the pupils can move. I have been both cross-eyed and wall-eyed at different times with nine operations during childhood. I am also extremely near sighted.Right now, my left eye sees lettering two or three times smaller than my right so my eyes are often tired after trying to read or be on the computer.

I'm also told I see two-dimensional rather than three-dimensionally.

They are trying to get me help as a senior but it may not be worth it at this age.

Thanks for letting me know.

angelface555

MaryAnn, feral cats never meow I'm told. It is a domestic cat trait picked up to communicate with humans but I've never seen a cat not use the vocal expressions I'm used to hearing from cats.

wjoan

Angel, that makes you eligible for the Program with the Library.  You just need to fill out a form and you are in.   You can receive free books by mail and the reader to listen to them.  Is worth it.  :)

angelface555

Thanks Joan, I'm going to look into that.

Here is where to go to get talking books in Alaska:

Thank you both, Joan and Sandy. However, I will have to wait until my Medicaid kicks in to see a doctor again for my eyes or the state services here to begin working on my case.

My old files go back too many years to be viable.

Good afternoon, everyone, cold very, very windy and with a few rain showers thrown in.

Maryann, i saw on TV you were haveing snow.

Larry, did you see Friday the young player from Ala. that had a hole in one, on the 17th.?  Everybody was huging him., as he jumped up and down. I forgot his name.

Yes June, I took up golf at age 62 when, I retired from the hospital. then I became a golf nut, evern played with colored ball in the snow in Feb.  I was so happy, when i won my first trophy for cloest to the pin. I also could hit across the pond, and the owner of the golf course told me his brother still could not do it.  I stopped playing about two years ago, if they allowed carts I could have gone on a little longer.

Click for Riverhead, NY Forecast

Mary Ann

Yes, Gloria D, we did have snow.  Ridiculous!

Jason Day of Australia won the Players Tour.  The player who had the hole in one yesterday was Wilcox.  I had not heard of him, but everyone around him was very excited.  I guess I would be too.

Patricia, Kendrick was not a feral cat.  He does meow occasionally, but not often.  When he is on the deck I see him meow, but there is glass between us.  And he is very anxious to get in the house after 10 minutes.

Mary Ann

junee

Mary Ann,
I do not get to see the golf when played overseas but do enjoy when on odd occasions. Thanks for the results and of course happy for Jason Day, life was not always easy for him. I did not know the player who got the h I o but saw that last night,he sure was excited.
Have never played golf but too late now to cross off my bucket list.

Like hearing about Kendrick ! My daughter  upstairs has recently got a cat, Bonnie, a British Blue and has been interesting to see her settle in.  Now she is friends with everyone but at first hid until Jen got to,know exactly where to find her.

Cold nights here but sunny days, and could do with a few showers.  Not been able to get on to Grand Haven recently.

angelface555

MaryAnn, I was speaking of Farrah in particular and feral cats in general about never meowing.

Hi Junee. There are some questions left in the trivia quiz if you are still inclined... :)

Kelly

Good morning everyone
My Internet is a bit hit and miss of late, could not on line much yesterday!

Kelly

Hi Larry
Yes Inknow what you mean about finding it difficult to get the ball in the air with golfing.

I took up playing darts!

As someone said who did not like golf or playing golf said, it is a good walk gone wrong!   :)

Hi everyone on a nice and cool but sunny morning.  Yesterday was delightful here and it appears that today will be the same. I have a fairly busy day planned as will attend a meeting at noon and probably stop at COSTCO for a couple of items on the way home.  This is evening is our final men's meeting at the Church until the fall.

Joan, that was a nice and thoughtful (and helpful) birthday present from the Farmer.

Mary Ann, I agree with being a bit shocked and Fowler and Spieth not making the cut.  I did see the three balls going into the water.

Patricia, when I was young I was diagnosed with a lazy eye as was looking at an image as a part of my eye exam and half of it went away, which was the part that I would be seeing with the lazy eye.  I have worn glasses ever since and have never had any further problems with my eyes.  You certainly have more than your share of eye problems.

Sandy, can you download books from any State library?  I have always assumed it was just from the State where you have residence.

deAngel, I missed the hole in one shot but heard the announcers later commenting on it.

Kelly, is the Internet problem you experienced a normal occurrence or a rarity?  I like your saying about "...a good walk gone wrong!"

Sandy, can you download books from any State library?  I have always assumed it was just from the State where you have residence.

I belong to the State Library System
of Maine.     I get my digetal books mailed to
me from them.    After approved for their service,
they sent me the digital book player  ...   I get up to
16 books at a time  and when I send them back through
the mail  ( a free service)   they  send me more.
(Depending on h ow I request them)

I can order my books online or call them
and talk to a person who will order for me.

I do have some blank  cartridges  so I could
download books directly,  but I choose mail
order as for me it is the easiest.

I belong to the Maine State Library System  so
I can only get book on disc directly from them...
Each State system is different and sometimes
more then one state works together.    Here in
Maine,  it is only Maine.

Good morning everyone! I'm already planning to look into that library program here and I do again, thank Joan and Sandy for giving me details and their time!

Kelly, I had spinal meningitis at birth but my town was in the midst of a bad polio epidemic and needing more iron lungs than they had, so I was a lower priority. I had extremely high fevers that burned out several nerves so damaged some bits. I was in and out of the local hospital and Seattle's Children's hospital until age eleven with high fevers and those eye operations, eye glasses since age two.

However, I never knew otherwise except for some arguing between my folks and my older sister's anger towards me so didn't know any better.

I have been steadily employed since age fourteen, often in retail middle management. And working with different programs, meant to supply me with help in working. But you as also being handicapped know how much those programs help.

I use the Dragon system of voice typing and the Grammarly system of spell and grammar checking those posts and emails and that helps.

However, don't think I don't do well as I've had and have a good life.

Hi everyone.  It looks like we will have some rain off and on today and throughout the week.  We had a nice men's meeting last evening.  I got the best steak I have had since I started attending these meetings about a year ago.  The speaker was good and has brief in his remarks but got his point across.  Later this morning I will take my PT Cruiser to have the A/C fixed.  Pat will pick me up.  We might stop at Aldi's as hate to waste this $10 off on an order of $40 or more and this is the last day for this current offer.  We are going to stock up on some items we know we will be using in the next few months. It doesn't take long to spend $40 in a grocery store anymore.  I may go early and have coffee with the guys until about time to take the car in for the scheduled appointment.  Nothing else on the schedule for today.

Sandy, I think I misread your posting about where you get your books.  Thanks for the explanation.  I researched this subject on behalf of a cousin some years ago and also as something maybe my Father would enjoy, although he never picked up on it.  Our library system here is tied into a loaning system called Hoolpa and I have downloaded and listened to a number of book from them.  We are allowed 8 checkout during a given month.  My problem is I usually listen to them while I am laying down in the afternoon or after going to bed at night and then fall asleep and have to backtrack.

Patricia, you have adjusted and adapted to your health situations throughout your life and it sounds like you know how to enjoy life.  I know of the Dragon system for voice typing and hadn't heard about the Grammarly system for spelling and grammar checking.

A lot of our regular posters must have been very busy yesterday as only two postings since I posted around 8:30 am yesterday.

Mary Ann

I was scheduled to go to Indps today, but things got in the way so I told Tom Harton I'd try for later in the year.  This next weekend is the time trials for the Indy 500 and last year Tom Tock and James attended and said they'd do it again this year.  Then James said he wanted to go to the race the next weekend.  I still don't know if he and Tom T will be able to go then - or this next weekend.  So I cancelled my trip.

The sun is shining and I think we'll get up to the 60s today.  Our weather has been up and down, rain and sun, so I'd like it to settle down.

Mary Ann

MaryPage

Another dismal day.  Rain and mist.  I KNOW the bridge is there, and therefore I can make out a just slightly darker than the sky grey smudge where it should be.  The "Yard Boats," as the Navy calls them, which are miniature destroyers, are the only moving objects out there on the choppy waves of the Chesapeake.  Young men and women learning to become Admirals.

Well, I shall snuggle down in my easy chair and read, read, read.  Hope some of you are getting some sun!  Hugs & kisses from MaryPage

larryhanna

Hi everyone.  After a rainy day yesterday today is starting out overcast but we should see some sun later today with only a slight chance of rain.  I was able to get my car air conditioning fixed yesterday.  I took it in at eleven and got it back at 5 pm.  All car repair is expensive and this was no exception as needed a part and then the labor involved.  They called after looking at the car to see if I had replaced the timing belt as it was past the mileage before it needed to be changed.  Fortunately the friend I bought it from gave me very good records and I was able to determine that it had been changed at 83,000 miles so no need to change it again at this point.  That job would have cost me $1,200 dollars so I felt like I got a raise yesterday but not needing to have that work done.  Today the main activity is our Wednesday night dinner at church and spending time with Scott afterwards.  I have a number of small tasks that need doing here and will try to get some, if not all of them done, today.

Yesterday was the second day with very few folks posting here.  I do hope all are OK and just busy with other things and will soon return and share a bit of their lives with us.

Mary Ann, it sounds like you made a wise choice and expect things get hectic in Indps with the race time trials and then the actual race.  It has been years since I watched any of that race on TV.

MaryPage, it sounds like you were having the same type of weather we were yesterday although it never rained really heavily.  The hardest I saw was as we exited the grocery store and had to get our groceries in the truck of the car.  Hope you got a lot of reading done.
