Hi Larry
We get used to it!

Kelly

Sandy

Good Morning Everyone from the
cool and windy,  rocky post of Maine.
It is early Spring like here,  which is
expected.

I love this time of the year,  because
Winter is so far off,  down the road.

Wishing everyone a great week!

Kelly

Hi Sandy
But winter type weather can occur in the spring!

Kelly

I did not know the discussion had moved.

Pay attention kelly!

Sandy

Yes,  but there is a big difference
between Spring Snow and Winter Snow.
Especially the amount of time it lasts on
the ground.

Hi Sandy
I like the winter weather, as my job depended on the weather I have worked out in all times of weather.

Good afternoon, to all my friends, on this very, very windy day.

Larry I wrote to you this morning, and then lost the whole post.  I was telling you my first job, was in a frosted malt shop (soft ice cream) I livied  in what is called N. Charleston now.  Durning THE war it was just called Navy Yard, the shop was 1 block from the Main gate.  Between 3 and 4 when we would be so busy as the first navy yard shift would be getting off, also the saliors would be getting leave time.  We also had regular ice cream, but the frosted malt was the most popular.  I was makeing $12. for a 6 day week.  Then I got a job in downtown Charleston at a Millinary Store, I also started at $12. did work up to $18. but out of that I had to pay bus fare, from the Navy Yard.

Hi Radioman!

It is too bad that all of the
previous posts have been lost .

But I intend to remember with
fondness,  all those that are no

that their spirit  will  always be

I was feeling nostalgic one day and moved some of Norm's, Rae's, Oscar's  Peaches's, Karren's, Jerry's and Jerry2's posts from members to my external drive around Christmas of last year. And now I'm glad I did! Its like visiting old friends again!

We got a light dusting of snow last night as well. Its ironic that for so many years we remained a month or two behind weather wise and now the Interior is the same as the lower 48 states and some foreign countries.

We used to have Dairy Queen here, two locations,(As a child I loved dilly bars!);  but they disappeared with the fast food places. We do have a McDonald's just outside of town and a new KFC starting up by Walmart. We also have a Papa Murphy's Pizza but its being boycotted because of its poor business practices nation wide and looks to be closing.

We have several ethnic places that are thriving and this is good news!

I had a very sobering experience in the grocery yesterday. I reached out to pickup a can opener box with my right hand and noticed a syringe just between two boxed can openers. It looked like a child's toy. But when I picked it up by the depressant, I realized it was real and slipped off the orange piece and found an actual medical needle attached.

I went to the next aisle over, saw a clerk who asked me to wait and radioed for assistance while checking the shelf for any other surprises. Boy did I get yelled at by that clerk and the manager for touching the needle. I had sincerely apologized twice. They mentioned HIV and drugs and really who knew what it had been used for?

I realized I had been dumb to pick it up but after each was going back over the same info for the third time I was getting tired of it. I simply excused myself and left. Later, standing in line, the manager did come over and apologized. I did again and we parted. Now I know, never pick up anything and let someone else do it!  :-[

What winds and storms we just had. Lasted 2 days. Still a little windy out.
Such a mess in my yard.  Hundreds of branches down.  All night hearing them coming down on the roof and rolling off.  Will not get much shade in the south side this summer.

See we are back in the Old place . Norms spot. That is good.

JeanneP, the two Fred Meyer stores which are owned by Kroger have both grocery pickups like that as well as pharmacy curb side surface, They are on opposite sides of the building.

However with Kroger closing some of its stores, who knows how long that will last?

so_P_bubble

Angel, how scary.  I hope you went and soaped your hands as soon as possible.

Mary Ann

JeanneP, I have heard of Meijer doing that, however, I do not get my groceries at Meijer.  I like their store near me, but it is always so much more crowded than the store I use (Spartan), also hometown based.  Prices are very close.  I do go to Meijer for most everything else.  Pickup at the door is an incentive, however, and if Tom is unavailable, I can see my taking advantage of the service.  We have about a dozen stores in the area, but I don't know how many.  If I were to travel and needed something, I would not hesitate to go to Meijer.

Well said, Sandy, well said. It took me until now to even feel comfortable posting here again.

No, Kelly. Mods, can there be a stickie put up alerting everyone to the moves?

Kudos to the Admin for changing the last post read as the default. It was so very annoying to have to page forward in the previous incarnation.

Angelface, that was really scary, finding the syringe between some products on the shelves!  In talking to Mary De I was reminded of our trip to Alaska in 2003 and how kind you were to visit with us at the hotel in Fairbanks.  Our flight to Anaktuvuk Pass with a bush pilot and visiting with the eskimos (native Americans?) there was special too.  They were so warm and welcoming in sharing their way of life with us.  We had never heard of the Gates of the Arctic National Park.

On our last evening coming down the Inside Passage to Victoria on the cruise ship we were sitting at a table in the dining room facing the back windows where I could see the ship's wake.  It was cloudy and the sky and water were very grey.  There was a fishing boat about a mile behind us coming down the strait also and at one point there was a break in the clouds allowing a slanted ray of yellow sunlight to shine down across the top of the fishing boat's mast and its crossbar that together made the shape of a cross.  It was really startling and almost seemed like a divine benediction and blessing on the fishing boat and also on our two week trip to Alaska and the northwest.  I looked around the table to see if anyone else was looking at it but they were all chatting with each other.  The memory is still very vivid and I wish I could paint a picture of it.  After a couple of days in Victoria we flew east to Calgary to the Senior Net Bash there.  That whole trip is a wonderful memory!

Mary de, I'm so sorry that John is having to deal with Alzheimer's these days.  I can tell that Windell's memory isn't quite what it was since he had the concussion and brain bleed in the accident last year.  I remind him every morning what our schedule is for the day relative to appointments and meetings.  He gets very tired by late afternoon.  Larry's suggestion about groups that can help is a good one.  I had forgotten Wisia's name and I think Pat used to go by Trevor or Three Kings in the old Sr.Net forums.

Bubble, it is so good to see you here!  I'm sorry it didn't work out for us to visit when we were in Israel.  Your country is beautiful and our two days there were so meaningful!  I need some help with getting my picture back in my profile.  I don't have pictures on another computer site now except for Facebook.  Can I link one from there?

Kelly, bless you!  You add so much to the discussions here!  I just found out recently almost by accident that my mother's father's family, whose surname was Baggarly, was from England and they came to America in 1746.  I saw a post from someone with the Baggarly name on Facebook, wrote them a message, and they referred me to a cousin who sent me all of the info on the family recently.  I had always wondered what the nationality of the name was and it is like having a new window on the past open up when I least expected it.

You all will have to forgive me - I'm really not into ice cream these days.  My choice is the "Death By Chocolate" flavour but I try not to even keep it in the house except when company is coming!

I'm glad all of you that have been having storms are OK!

Larry, we were happy that NC is in the final two game on Monday night.  Windell didn't think that either game last night was spectacular, either!  Nice that the people in the parking lot helped you get your packages in the car!

I really have to go heat some dinner.  Hope you all have a nice week this week!
