Rick, I won't get into a "shouting match" with you but do you agree with the NRA's public quote?

MaryPage, the grandmother was also identified as a bully to other members of her family. These sad people and behaviors can do nothing to migrate what the grandson did. And to the easy access, he had to military weapons as soon as he turned 18. Do we blame his family and absolve the easy gun access as the NRA wishes?

Mental health care and assistance have long been marginalized in this country unless it somehow brings a profit..

RAMMEL

Mary Page --- I saw similar news reported last evening on a local NY News Station.
I don't think one has to be a therapist to know that shooting someone is just not right. Sad that so many are affected by the drug problem. I think that now with certain medicines available to save drug users, the problem is getting worse. (That is just my opinion)
Enjoy today's East Coast weather - for tomorrow we get rain.

Assuming that was actually their statement, yes - it's true.

So guns had nothing to do with the massacre? Never mind...I don't want to continue something that can't be solved here.

FlaJean

It's been ages since I last posted.  Things are still a muddle with us waiting for our daughter's treatments to start.  We did find out that she can not have immunotherapy because she does not have the proper markers in her genome?

Enjoyed all the postings.  I was very sad This morning thinking of 19 mothers not able to feed and love their 4th graders and send them happily off to school.

We had a terrible summer storm yesterday and today it is raining and overcast.  Beverly, I am envious of your weather.  It just rains so much in this area.  I have to admit I miss the sunny weather of Ocala, but I am glad to be close to my dear sweet daughter.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Lets do away with the auto companies.  They make the cars that kill more kids than guns or drugs.

Alaska has the third highest gun death rate.  Maybe if they get rid of the snow plows those events wont happen.

Should we talk about New York?  So guns had nothing to do with the massacre? Or the husband of a slain surprisingly shot teacher, who had a heart attack and died. Why discuss political talking points instead of taking long-overdue action? Never mind...I don't want to continue something that can't be solved here.

You're twisting it a bit.

Another week over and done.....where does the time go?

Monday I had 2 MRI's....one on the hip and one on my lower back, as well as a CT of the hip.  Hopefully they will be able to find out what is going on and it can be helped🙏🙏

Our grands have finished this school year.....hard to believe it is this time of year already.

This is a sad time for the family.  Michele's Birthday and their anniversary is this coming this week,  The 17th, the day she passed is quickly approaching .

Happy news is coming though too....our new grandson is slated to be delivered on the 2nd of June🙏🙏

JEAN, I am so very sad that your daughters treatments have not started yet.  My thoughts and prayers continue for her and you, her family.  As we all are, I am heartbroken over the latest school shootings.  💔

MARILYN, has AJ been watching our Avalanche in the play offs?  It sure has been exciting‼️

MARYPAGE, I wish you a belated HAPPY 93rd BIRTHDAY ❣️  I am sad for you that your special gathering of family did not take place😩😩 Darn Covid😩😩. I, too, have seen the Queen of England.  Same way you did.  Standing right at the corner where her car passed by and I even had eye contact 🥰🥰🥰 We we're driving from Newbury Berks to visit family in Liverpool.  Bob heard she was going to be passing through this little town, so we stopped and stood there and here she came.  What a thrill it was.  On that same trip we had a Rolls pass us and headed into a rest area....we followed it as we thought it looked like Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.....and it was!
BTW, I also saw our JACKIE when bin England on a different trip and that was a very special thrill as well🥰🥰

I enjoy reading all of your posts so much, 🥰🥰. Cherish the special friendship s that we share here🥰🥰

I wish you all a happy and safe Memorial Day Weekend.  Ours will be spent doggie sitting in the city by the bay....San Francisco  🦋 So excited to be able to go do something different 🥰

Jenny, your weekend of doggy sitting sounds fun.  I do hope you can soon find the reasons for your medical problems and good solutions will result!

The sun is shining here today.  Love that sunshine!

Jean - so good to see a message from you yesterday, and again today!  Sorry to see that Gigi will not be eligible for the immunotherapy, but good that she  will soon be starting with chemo or radiation.  I hope and pray, that whatever treatment she gets, will work quickly, and that she will soon go into remission.

Jenny - Sorry you're having hip and back problems to contend with now!
There seems to be a constant stream of health problems to deal with as we grow older.  As soon as one problem is under control, another one pops up to take it's place!  I hope your shoulder is much better now, and that all the therapy you've had has helped ?

RAMMEL

Sasha --- Good to see a post from you. Do stop in here more often.
So much has happened/changed since I last talked to you. Are things on your end still the same? Still doing the kind things for the fur people?

I have been "out of commission" for a few days. Wednesday night, the day after the root canal, I began having severe pain and face swelling. I'm taking antibiotics and the severe pain has stopped. Still have an aching jaw and feel like I've been "sucker punched"!  Hoping for better things tomorrow!

Sasha

Hey, Rick, thanks. Still going as strong as we can: currently we have 6 geriatrics on site and 6 more "in the wings," as it were. Life is all feeding and cleaning litter boxes. We keep it calm. Hey to MarilynE and all, too.

Root canals are not fun. Hope your pain and swelling disappear real quick, Beverly.

I am pleased to announce that the veteran banners are back up on the electric poles. They took down the old ones that have been up for several years and must have put the new ones up yesterday. They were up today, all brandy-new, and more of them.  My block now has some where before, they stopped a block or two up the street.

This morning I got away with "only" spending $88 at the grocery store. Missing from my haul were the blueberries and strawberries that I wanted; there were none. They did have 12oz packs of blackberries, though not many, so I got one. I noticed that the produce bins were rearranged so that there was more space between them. Sneaky way to hide the lack of available produce.

FlaJean

Marilyne, thank you for your kind words.  You have such a kind heart—-always thinking of others.

We are having another sunny day here.  Hope it last a few days.☺️

It has been so quiet this morning.  Everyone having a long weekend.

MaryPage

Oh, MarsGal
I have had such a good giggle over your brandy new.  And yes, I KNOW it was a typo, and I do them all the time, but this one I LOVE!  So THANK YOU!

I eat a bunch of blueberries in my oatmeal every morning, and they are frozen.  I have tried all of the brands, but the DOLE are the only ones I truly love now.  It only takes a minute to thaw them, and they really are delicious.

MarsGal

Yes, I did notice some frozen bags of berries, but I am absolutely out of freezer space right now. I did manage to squeeze in a small box of waffles for the chicken and waffles I want to make in a few days.

I really need to get out to mow the backyard tomorrow morning. The next four (?) days are going up into the nineties. Ugh! I hop the humidity is down a little tomorrow, but the day after the weather forecast is calling for high humidity. Ninties and humidity. Just love it. Not!

Marilyne

Jean -  How thoughtful of you, to say something so nice to me.  Thank you so much.  Hoping that everything is running as smoothly as possible for Gigi, over this long weekend.  I'm sure it's hard for her to wait so long for her treatments to begin.  A new month begins this coming Wednesday, so I hope that will be a turning point and procedures will be scheduled, and things will  change for the better!

Beverly - I agree with everyone else, about the dreaded root canal! Even when there are no complications, the procedure takes so extremely long, and is always painful afterwards - especially for us older folks.  I hope you are healing from the infection, and will be back to normal when the weekend is finally over.

MarsGal - You mentioned "chicken and waffles"!  When my younger daughter lived in Southern Cal, I used to drive down there to visit  her, and we would always go to dinner at a chicken and waffles restaurant near where she lived.  What a delicious meal it was!

Jenny - I'm sure you're having a nice weekend in San Francisco?  Looks like the weather will be foggy and cold, but as you know, it's always that way in SF in the Summertime.  :D   Have a great vacation, and enjoy the time with your son and his wife.   Yes,  AJ has been watching all the hockey playoff games.   The Sharks aren't in the running, so he's rooting for The Avalanche!

Sasha - (From your old friend, MarilynE). So good to see you posting here . . . please return again soon!  Hoping that everything is running smoothly at APITS?

As you all can probably tell, I'm not fond of these long weekends. Seems like every time we have one, all sorts of things go wrong, and we are helpless to get things fixed or back to normal.  Doctors and dentists are always unreachable, along with most other things that we need ASAP!    Right now I'm sitting here dreaming about how nice it would be to be spending a relaxing holiday weekend at a sunny beach house . . .  listening to the waves, and breathing the clean salty air.  Not happening of course, but good that we can always close our eyes and dream.

Anybody going to stay up to catch the whopping big meteor shower we are supposed to see tonight? It peaks at around 1AM tonight on the East Coast, and about 10pm on the West Coast. Best view is North America, so that is us. If not I am sure lots of people will be posing their photos and videos up on https://www.spaceweather.com/ in their photo gallery. https://spaceweathergallery.com/

MarsGal

Well, here is an interesting website I just happened across https://www.timeanddate.com/  All, kinds of time related stuff on it.

RAMMEL

I'll be looking for the meteor shower.  Usually don't have much luck due to being overcast. But if tonight is as clear as this afternoon was It should be good watching.

Good thing I fell asleep and didn't see the almost non-existent meteor shower. Not the first time an expected eventful meteor shower fizzled. Of course, we had clear skies to see the non-event. If there had been a good show, we would have been socked in with clouds. Oh, am I being sarcastic? We've missed just about every interesting sky event here in at least the last year because of clouds. Oh, well!

RAMMEL

I went out at 11:30 and couldn't see a single star. - OVERCAST - So much for the meteor shower.
