Sad to read that our Jean passed away.  We expected it, 😩 knowing that she was not doing well. MARILYN, I hope Yyou and will keep in touch with Larry so we can hear how GiGi continues to progress.  Prayers for her.

CALLIE, I hope plan C proves to be the magic plan for your DIL.  Continued thoughts and prayers for her and the family.  I feel sad for those that have not had the chance to visit the Grand Hotel and Mackinaw Island.  I feel very blessed to have experienced it.  I personally do not think that we needed any more time there than we had.  Seeing the hotel from the water as we came across the lake was thrilling.  Walking around on the grounds as well as inside, and sitting in the rocker on the beautiful porch enjoying the view was absolutely wonderful.  Staying there and eating there is so very expensive, so I have to admit I did not feel sad that we were not able to do it.  We took the carriage rides all around and they were enjoyable in spite of the rain that joined us for the day.  While I was rocking in my rocker the sun came out and it was delightful 🦋
The entire shopping area is restaurants, fudge shops, donut shops, ice cream shops and souvenirs.  The flowers all over the area were spectacular.  Our drive the following day up and around the top of the UP of Michigan was great to see.  The sun shone for a bit and the lake just glistened and the color of the water looked like the gulf of Mexico around Pensacola Florida.  Just beautiful.

Thank you for that, Jenny.  It was almost as good as being there!

I have been having a lot of problems today trying to post today.

Just finishing watching my Broncos.  Still hoping they can pull it out in overtime 🤪🤪. Well, they didn't....Colts win😩😩‼️‼️

It has been a busy week.  We had our yearly physicals on Tuesday.  Our Internists is totally against our Keto Diet. Oh Lordy.....now what do I do?  One of my doctors will NOT be happy with me.

Today I saw the cardiologist and found out the results of my Holter Heart Monitor.  All is good......nothing in it that concerned the doctor🤪🤪. That pretty much finishes up all the scheduled tests to see WHY I need supplemental oxygen.  My cardiologist still wants me on a CPAP for six months to see if it will help.  Oh my.....so over all of this. I appreciate all they have done for me......I am certainly thankful they have not found any health issues.....but now what?  Without a doubt movng to a lower altitude would be beneficial.....but that is not a easy decision to make.  We are needed her to help support Dr. Dave and the children🤷♀️

For those of you who may remember Nadia Thomas, the daughter of the late Shirley and hubby Eugene?  Nadia is in Denver attending the Broncos Game tonight.  We hope to get together while she is here but it has not worked out yet.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WISHES 🌻 PHYLLIS 🌻.

I hope this finds you all doing well.
Pleasant dreams to all.

Much better morning today, compared to yesterday . . . thanks to Oldiesmann!  The site seems to be running even faster than before.
Good to see so many members saying 'hello' today.     Here's hoping  the enthusiasm continues, and we start seeing more messages, on a regular basis!

Jenny - I loved hearing about Mackinac island, and the hotel and all the interesting shops and carriage rides.  I can close my eyes and dream about being there, even though it will never happen in this lifetime.    That is interesting, that one of your doctors approved of the Keto diet, and the other one says No??  Seems like if they want you both to lose some weight, and  Keto works for you, then it's worth continuing?    I'd like to lean more about it, so will  look it up online today.

Jackie - Good to see you back.  Keep us posted on how thinks are looking in England, since the passing of Queen Elizabeth?  I'm wondering when we will see the Coronation of King Charles?

MarsGal, Phyllis, Tome and Callie -  I'll be checking into Library~Bookshelf soon, to comment on The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. Or maybe not?  ::)  One of those books that's hard to discuss, for many reasons.  :chatter:

Rick - Good to see you looking in this morning!  :coolsmiley:

Marilyne...
...just looked it up and it states " King Charles 111's coronation ceremony is set to take place on June 3rd 2023 "

CallieOK

Good Morning,    Yes!  Belated :hb3: , Phyllis and Kyle.

Not only did I have issues getting on here - this has been a very busy week!

Everything was wonderful but I've discovered I can only have so much "coming at me" at one time before I have to take some "Me Time".

Biggest surprise was Miss Ellen texting on Monday night "Whatcha doing tomorrow?"  She had flown in on Monday for a few days with the family and we had a really good visit on Tuesday afternoon.

However, that sorta messed up my plans to fix meals for sons on Wednesday.  #1 son came to go with me to a business appointment and #2 son was coming for our usual "dinner date" - and it was my time to cook.
Cancelled lunch with #1, fixed what we call "Quick Spaghetti" for #2 and it worked out just fine.

#1 and I stopped at a garden center on the way home and now my "pot garden" in the back yard has Fall color in each planter.
It was so nice Wednesday evening that #2 and I visited on the patio until it was dark enough for the solar garden lights to come on.

Marilyne,  I agree that "7 Husbands..." would be a hard book to discuss - particularly on-line.

Jenny, interesting that your doctor doesn't approve of the Keto diet.  I don't know a lot about it but the bit I've read and heard about sounds as if it's very low in something the doctor thinks we need more of.  Or - doctor doesn't like "popular" diets that tell you exactly what and what not to eat.  (I tend to agree with that)
You're probably right about altitude affecting your breathing. However, being near Dr. Dave/family would make the extra effort worthwhile.

Jackie, didn't Queen Elizabeth celebrate some kind of "anniversary" in June?  Would the coronation ceremony date have anything to do with rememberance of that?

Rick,  ;D at your use of "y'all".  Thought you lived too far north to "speak 'suthren'".

Off to track Miss Ellen's flight back to NYC.

Enjoy your day, Everyfriend.

Vanilla-Jackie

Callie...yes you are right, UK celebrated her Platinum in June..i dont know if any connection...

Three times in my life I spent time in Charleston, SC.  My mothers Aunt (who was a sort of mother to her) lived there. Had a house in the Historic area on Tradd Street. Visited there a couple of times, and then when in the Navy was stationed there. The term Y'all is picked up rather easily.
The only thing I didn't like down there was the water bugs (as they call them) and grits. The dislike of grits usually starts a "discussion"/argument.

Kind of a dreary looking day here in the MILE HIGH CITY‼️

Nothing on the news locally other than so much frustration about the Broncos and how terrible they are.  I can not help myself.....I have been a fan since day one .....win or loose I still support them, but it 'taint easy.  🤪🤪🤪🤪

RAMMEL..... I know how easy it is to say "ya'll" however local it is
"you guys" that I mostly hear🤪🤪🤪 BTW, I am married to a southerner and funny enough he has never said y'all🤪🤪

I appreciate the comments about my Mackinaw Island visit.  I wish I could share more of the wonderful pictures in my mind🥰🥰🥰🥰

CALLIE, glad you got to spend time with Ms. Ellen.  Impromptu visits are the best.  I get to the point I just need a break from all the running too.....a bit of quiet time with my honey rejuvenates us both. I am glad the son visits worked out well in spite of the extra stuff!

MARILYN, I have never been fond of "fab diets" but since my dietitian put me on this Keto Diet I did not consider it a FAD‼️‼️🤪🤪🤪 I know now that it is VERY controversial now and the more I read about both sides of the coin, I am ready to say @#$&* all of them.  Just try to eat as healthy as possible and be done with it‼️  Both sides of my docs are VERY full of statistics and proven data that what they say is correct‼️   H E L P  I say..... can I just run away? BTW, I am going to run away soon.....we are heading out to the Bay Area for a extended stay next month.  I sure would love to possibly meet up with you and AJ.  I will send you a PM with details.

I have to run.....I wish you ALL a good day.

Gotta pat myself on the back (ouch!) as today I did a little minor "plumbing" work.  Very minor. You know the little thingy that goes on your kitchen faucet,I can only think diffuser, but thats not right Im sure.  Well last week I snagged my finger on something very sharp sticking out of it, cut me good, so I thought I might have to get a new one. Today, armed with pliers I unscrewed the thing, discovered it was just lime scale that was sharp, so soaked it in CLR for a good long time, my forever handy chore toothbrush, and by george, I got it all off, and replaced the "thingy" thereby saving me $$ and a trip to Lowe's. Howzat?  I love it when I can actually "do" something!  Wish I could mow my own yard.

RAMMEL

Tomereader, - Good job -  That is an aerator. For future Knowledge - It's a good idea to take them off once in a while and clean them. Many sink faucets run slowly because they tend to get clogged (sand, silt, "stuff". In general they come in two sizes and are available for a reasonable price at hardware and Big Box Stores. Some have a slit on the side to let more air into the water stream. I use one of those rubber jar opener pads to grab them. They grip good. Also that handy chore toothbrush.

Rick  - Hoping your plumbing problems have been resolved, and that life is almost back to normal?  Absolutely nothing worse than a break or blockage in a sewer line!  :yikes:  Water pipes bursting are no fun either.  Hope you have  help cleaning up the basement?

Jenny  - Sounds like a nice long visit coming up with your San Francisco  son and dil. I'll send you an email later this afternoon.
Probably just as well to drop the Keto diet, and go back to "common sense" eating.  My youngest daughter (53) has become a vegetarian!  Her new bf has convinced her that that is the healthiest way to live???  8)  Wondering how long that will last?

Tome  - Good for you, that you tackled the kitchen faucet on your own, and that you were successful!  Now, the next step, is mowing your lawn!  No - probably not a good idea.  Easier to hire a,  "Mow, Blow and Go" guy, to come a couple of times a month an do it for you.

Tomereader1

I told my daughter I was going to get one of those battery-operated mowers, and she said, No Way!  She mows and edges her own lawn (I'm so proud of her)! I have a mow/blow and go guy. A new one from earlier on.  Was going to sign up for a service my neighbor has, but they wanted to take photo of lawn, if it was too high, they would charge me $170 an hour to do the yard.  Well, the weed portion of the lawn (well-scattered & not the whole yard) was a bit high, but I had measured the grass, and it was only 2 inches high, which is only l/2 inch taller than the recommended cutting length. I was not going to pay anyone $170 an hour if I had to go out there with scissors and cut the tall parts. Cancelled them!  Another neighbor has a guy she has used for years, and sent him to me, and he has done a great job so far.  I have noticed that "most" of the lawn guys obviously don't get their blades sharpened, or get a new blade when needed, as uneven up&down cosmetically.  I guess I was spoiled when I had a hubby that cut that yard where it looked like a golf course!  And he wasn't the least bit worried about getting a new blade when needed!
Rammel, I used one of the jar opener things (they come in really handy)on the aerator.  I hope your sewer problem is a lot less costly than ours was. We had to have the sewer line totally replaced, costing a few thousand $$$.
Our house was built in early 60's and had that old style iron piping, was rotted all to Heck, came out in pieces. Of course, a front yard tree didn't help on that portion either.  Everyone have a good day, without plumbing, yardwork problems.  Big Hugs for All!

RAMMEL

Plumber showed  up around 2:00 and was here for about 1 1/2 hours. The pipe was blocked at the house trap. But the plugs on top of it had not been removed for at least 50 years and didn't want to come off. Had to damage it to get it off so I have to get a new one. It will screw on easily.  Now for the clean up. That will take me two or three days, including getting rid of lots of stuff I don't need any more or is no longer usable.

I don't think I realized or appreciated how much we rely on the use and disposal of water.

Time to relax a bit and watch a play off game.

Bet I am no longer remembered on here. Most times I don't seen to be able to get in so that I can post.. I did today but taken some time.
Wanted to get in to see if I could find out anything about the Friends on Senior and Friends that were living down in the Florida area. I know we had a couple.Jean being one of them. I have not heard about any of the people I know that have retired down into the Florida area that got the worse damage. All so sad.
Like most. My life seems to have made so many changes since this Epidemic started over 2 years ago.My health has remained good.Just feeling older now as not many friends left in the area. Not keeping as busy. No traveling at all. Not looking for things to change much now as winter getting closer. Just hoping that thing will start getting back to better days. Just hope they do.

RAMMEL

JeanneP, - Of course we remember you. Seems our numbers have dwindled but we are still here.
At any time putting - www.seniorsandfriends.org - into your Browser should get you here. Though we did have a problem this past week.
We recently lost one of our Florida members. As I recall she used the name FlaJean.

JeanneP -  Glad to see you back with us!  I've wondered about you the past couple of years, so good to know that you're in good health.
I remember that you had a parrot for many years?  Hope he is still there, to keep you company?
Are you still living in the same house?  What about your teapot collection?  I always wanted to see pictures of your teapots and your parrot.
Hope you return soon.  :)

I was thinking about Fla Jean when watching the storm. Awful it was. Sorry to hear about her passing. When was it? I feel for her husband. They were so close. Will check around and see if I can find something in one of the other forums about it...

   Good Morning  EVERYONE
from the coolish, rainy rocky coast of Maine.

I love Fall here.  It is probably my favorite
time of the year.  Only problem?   It passes way
too fast ( as most good things do)
It is hard to believe that Winter  (Brrrrr) is
right around the  corner.

I wear masks every time I go out and will
continue to.    I suspect that there are
a lot of bugs out there that I have not
been exposed to since our covid age requiring us
to mask up and avoid large crowds.

I am doing very good.

My only Great grand daughter  "FE" is entering the
First Grade this year...

 Wow,  she is growing up
so fast.

Have a good day,  EVERYONE and stay safe.
