Domestic Goddess: Is this correct, if one would like to post/share a recipe, we do so here?  If so, was searching to see if there were separate recipe categories?

Mars - Good morning - Looks like you're still not completely settled, but eventually you will find a place for everything.    I agree that the price for plastic items like storage bins, is outrageous.  Hard to figure why, because I thought the purpose of our recycling efforts, was to turn the plastic stuff back into more plastic stuff?  That should make it cheaper,  but I guess all the steps along the way and the people who have to be paid makes it more expensive?  If you look at the labels on new plastic items,  you see they are all made in China anyway.  ???  (along with everything else as well.)

Oldiesmann opened a new folder to talk about the eclipse, but not much action there?  I posted about what little  I saw from coastal California, which I thought was pretty amazing.  Two of our members who only post in Bosom Buddies,  were in the path of totality, and they posted some good descriptions in that discussion.  It was interesting to watch the news coverage on TV last night, from all the good viewing areas along the path.  I was surprised at the large numbers of people who flew to Matzatlan, MX, where it was first visible - as well as other sites through Texas and on up to Niagara Falls.

Bubble - I'm sending you an email, with a link to an article that was in our newspaper yesterday, that I  think you will be interested in reading.

Also - just now saw your message above, to Mary Page.  I plan to respond to it later, as well.

Thanks Marilyne, that was a very interesting, clear to the point article. But future does not look good :(
We have so many displaced people (from both the south and the north border) who had to move to hotels around the country. there are no rooms free for eventual tourists. The children are the ones suffering the most, unable to attend their regular schools. Metulah in Galilee is a disaster zone.

Good morning.  Oh my how the days seem to fly away‼️

Yesterday my dad would have been 100 years old.  I sure miss him and oh how I wish he would have made it to this age‼️ I really thought he would as he was so healthy.

So much going on here with most of you.  It kind of wears me out just reading about it🤣🤣.

Sunday we drove north to visit our family with the youngest grands, On Saturday when we had planned to go we had a horrible storm pass through with gusts up to 100 MPH. Sunday was beautiful and we sat out in their backyard and the little boys played with water balloons.  That is Colorado weather for ya.  After our nice visit with them, we drove back home and had dinner with our 3 grands here.  It was a wonderful day❣️

We did see the solar eclipse.  Had a picnic lunch on our patio and kept an eye on it.  We were not in the path of it so only had a bit of darkness.  The next time there will be another one in 20 years it will be right over Colorado.  Mind you, I do not anticipate being here for it, but one never knows.

Yesterday I saw my surgeon for my 3 month post op.  He said everything look great and I no longer haven any restrictions. I took a copy of my MRI I had done last week and he was kind enough to look at it and told me he thought I can get by with a outpatient procedure with only a one inch incision to my lower back.  Not happy to have to have ANY more surgeries, however this one at least sounds more doable, and way better than continuing injections.

We had a huge limb in our small backyard split from the heavy snow a few weeks ago.  They finally came and chopped it down.  It was interesting to watch, but a bit scary as the man was standing on a small branch as he sawed off the big limb.

We are off to the last session of our six week balance class this morning.  It has been interesting but I am glad it is over.

Thank you, MARILYN, for your kind words.  We can not believe our grandson is headed off to college either‼️ He has been accepted at every school he applied to, and now is making the final decision between two.  One is a state university and the other is Utah.  He is accepted into the honors business college at both.  He had to accept housing yesterday at one so he may have made his decision. It is exciting and stressful at the same time.  Thank you for your interest.

MARS, I like reading about how things are going in your new abode, but it stresses me out to think that we may have to do this one day and what a challenge it has been for you.  Have kitties settled in pretty well now?

I must run....have a good day everyone.

Jackie  -  You are a strong woman, and you've done very well in the past five years.   Richard would be proud of you!
Today will be hard, but try to think about the good years and the good times you had together.

MarsGal

Jenny, happy to hear that your are doing well and spent a very nice visit with your grands. It is a promising start to the soon to arrive Spring season.

I think Oscar and Shan have settled in better than I have, Marilyne. Until I get the house sold I suspect that I won't truly settle in. Settlement is in a week. Yea!

Meanwhile, I have plenty to keep me busy. Today I take the car in, finally, to get the front brake pads replaced. The week after next I get my tooth extracted, etc. The fist week of May I have two Dr. appointments, one at my cardiologist and the other at an eye surgeon to see about getting a cyst at the corner of my eye removed. I still need to pick up a bookshelf and an all-in-one computer she is no longer using. I want to try the all-in-one, hoping it eliminates a few wires and cords. Less temptation for the cats who seem to have taken a slight interest in chewing on them again. I am also on the look-out for something to put in the corner of the living room to hide the now exposed wiring for the TV, modem and phone.

The apartment is so much easier to keep clean and tidy than the house was. The cats are rarely out of sight now, so I can monitor them so much easier too. I am trying to get some weight back on Oscar. He has been eating, but has lost weight enough that the vet is becoming concerned. His liver levels are not good, but not too bad either. Vet is not enthusiastic about putting him through and ultra-sound just yet, so I suggested we do another lab test in the fall to see what is what. I am unsure that waiting that long is good idea, though. I have looked into changing his diet, but there do not seem to be any vet diets for liver problems except for Royal Canin which has a dry food formulation. Science Diet just points to their kidney formulations. Purina sells a wet canned food, but only in Europe. This seems to be a do-it-yourself cat food deal. There are so many different liver diseases/problems that it is difficult to figure out what is best to feed him. Chicken seems to be good. He likes it. It is the flavor the two of them get in their commercial food most of the time. Oddly enough, I saw some formulations that include or recommend chicken liver.  The other issue is that Oscar seems to be losing his hearing.

I has gotten light, if cloudy now, so time to get my day rolling.

Marilyne

Mars - Good to see that Oscar and Shan are happy in their new home. You'll feel the same way, as soon as you no longer have to worry about your old house.  Sorry that Oscar isn't doing so well, and is losing weight.  When my last cat got older, the vet recommended the Royal Canin brand food for him.  It was the canned, and was  pricey compared to other brands, but Winnie liked it.

Jenny -  I'm interested in what college you grandson chooses?  I'm sure you're all proud that he was accepted into the honors program at both schools he is considering.
Sorry you have to have the back surgery, but a one-inch incision sounds better than your other surgeries.  When that's over, you can sit back and look forward to enjoying the upcoming Summer months.  Do you have any vacation plans?

Hope we hear soon from some of our missing friends?  It's been a long time since Mary Page, Sandy, and Callie have posted??

JACKIE, I know yesterday was hard for you knowing it has been 5 years since your Richard's passing. It has been a LONG five years for you. Not only Richard's passing but the diagnosis of your PPMS.  You have done well for yourself just surviving and keeping on.  I know it has not been easy for you, and that it never will be😢  I agree that you are a strong lady and that is what has helped you get through.  Yesterday would have been my only nieces 53rd birthday.  My brother always takes flowers to her and her mama's grave.  He misses them so.  I am sure you remember my niece died from diabetes complications in her early 30's. 😢

MARS, I am happy to read that Oscar and Shan are happy in their new home. I am sad that Oscar is having some health issues.  Poor guy.  Hope you can find a some food that will help him through this. I know when your home is sold that you will be able to truly settle in in your new home.

MARILYN, I have not heard yet if Matt has committed to either school yet.  I know he will feel so much better after he does‼️ You are so right...a one-inch incision sounds so much easier than what I have previously had‼️‼️ Thank you for caring🥰 No big plans for summer vacations, but we hope to get up to the Black Hills as soon as we can.  Would like to go before school gets out if at all possible.

We had a beautiful day here yesterday so we cleaned up our patio.  Uncovered the furniture to see if any squirrels chewed on our cushions‼️ Thankfully, they did not.  We still have storms with snow in the future so can't really plan on doing much more.

Dr. Dave dropped off the grand dogs last night .  They will spend the night.  Granddaughter has a dance competition at 7:25 AM so they must spend the night at the dance location.  They will be there all weekend.  One grandson will be home after we pick him up from school tomorrow afternoon and then the doggies can go home.

I have PT this morning so best get my shower done and be ready for her.

Have a good Friday friends.
