Carl Linnaeus (aka: Carolus Linnæus or after 1761 Carolus a Linné). This is the guy who came up with the modern system of naming/classifying organisms (taxonomy), although I wouldn't exactly call it modern because this was back in the 1700s. At any rate, we are still using it.
