Here is a new game, with each participant adding one sentence line to create a fun tale and at the same time leave some suspense for the next contestant.
I will start with:
Last evening at five...
There came a strong rap at my door.
I hesitated answering the door because of the loud rap
I hesitated, but then, drew back the side curtain and peeked out.
I saw a tall man, wearing a green cape, and he was carrying something?

So what was he carrying? I began to search for some kind of clue and there, right by the bush I saw something that was not there before. It looked like a...
...large tin can painted green and bearing some kind of sticker!

It did not come from the can, and there was nothing visible on the grass!!!
I raised my head and peered into the nearest tree.
Oh! a muted swish , a long hiss , a shimmer, a flash!
Hovering atop a thick branch burning eyes are peering
off into the distance! What is it? And what is it looking at? And why does it sound so human?

This story is tantalizing... and I was waiting for some feedback to see which way to continue!
I'll add some and please help it go along...

I let go of the baseball bat and hurried back to the the window overlooking the backyard. There, sitting on the grass was a youthful Apollo seeming dazed and disoriented. His mouth stretched into a huge smile when he noticed me watching.
- "You look good; I am going to have you for supper" he said in a warm modulated bass.
- "You cannot eat people just like that" I riposted angrily, while the words 'not dangerous' coursed through my mind.
He rose his fist into my direction, opening and closing slender fingers three times.
- "What are you doing?"
- "Oh, just cloning you for supper. I would not hurt the real you, surely you know that . This way I'll get to know you better, intimately one could say..."
How did I feel about watching someone (or something) eat a clone of me? I just didn't know! The more I thought about it the more I was afraid I couldn't watch that. Then it occurred to me! I eat chocolate animals all the time and I also eat chocolate Santas. Perhaps that's what it felt like to him...it? I still felt a bit squeamish about watching. Did I have a choice?

And what was that loud distracting ringing in my ears?

I realized my suspenders were stuck on the doorknob and the door was opening and closing seemingly pulling on me. I fished the scissors out of my pocket and cut my suspenders. When I did that....

- "Please don't go. I need your company to enjoy my supper. I'll clone anything for you that would please you, so that you can join and sustain yourself. Some exotic fruit? A delicacy to discover from my own concoction?"
- "No, no, I do not want anything, I am not hungry at all. Also... you scare me. Can you not voice normally?"
- "Sure I can, but not over distances. Please, will you come nearer?"
In spite of myself I was intrigued.
Keeping my eyes glued on this strange being, I moved slowly closer. When I was within 4 feet of...whatever it was, and I was shivering in my shoes, a picnic table appeared. I was shocked to see.....
I was shocked to see..... not a real person but, rather, a very large rabbit, an agitated Hatter and large door mouse fast asleep. I was dumbstruck. “Who-who are you? What are you? Where am I?†I asked in a trembling voice.

In a very frustrated voice, I said..." You are being rude and not very polite!"
The sleepy hatter answered, "and you, my dear are hopelessly lost! Here, have a seat! Have a hat! Have a cup of hot chocolate! Sing us a song!"
I must be hallucinating! This cannot be true! Wonderland is a myth, a story, not reality! I rubbed my closed eyes hard, took a very deep breath, holding it in as long as I could.
When I opened my eyes...
In spite of myself I was intrigued.
Keeping my eyes glued on this strange being, I moved slowly closer. When I was within 4 feet of...whatever it was, and I was shivering in my shoes, a picnic table appeared.

I must be hallucinating! This cannot be true! Wonderland is a myth, a story, not reality! I rubbed my closed eyes hard, took a very deep breath, holding it in as long as I could.
When I opened my eyes I was standing there, in my home yard, looking at the large tin can painted green and bearing a sticker with writing on it. I noticed that the lid was slightly ajar.
Then I saw little beady eyes peeping out! As i watched intently, small pointed ears appeared and the lid plopped off. Then two tiny paws grabbed the top of the can. The object was all black with a touch of white on it's paws and the ends of it's ears. It wasn't a bit scary but I still didn't know what it was...or why it was there.
Suddenly, it hoisted itself upright, sucked in its cheeks and blew a gust of black powder into my face. I remember feeling shocked before everything went black

Somehow I was at ease. I opened my mouth ... to speak, but the creature gently placed a furry paw against my mouth, indicating that I should not say anything. I nodded that I understood, and then looked around and realized I was not on my own lawn, but once again, I was in a totally unfamiliar place.

I nodded that I understood, and then looked around and realized I was not on my own lawn, but once again, I was in a totally unfamiliar place. He looked to his left, gently lifted a paw to my turning cheek and together we watched a large flock of long-legged pink and sapphire birds break cover and take to the skies. Where was I?
And what was this animal that shared my space? Was I dreaming? Was I hallucinating? Or was this really happening? I watched the birds disappear and then I turned my head to look at my new friend. Oh dear! He was....
And what was this animal that shared my space? Was I dreaming? Was I hallucinating? Or was this really happening? I watched the birds disappear and then I turned my head to look at my new friend. Oh dear! He was....phasing in and out like a bad electric short. I drew back in dismay as he morphed out of existence. Now what, I thought?
Okay, when does Snidely Whiplash, Pauline, and a handy railroad track appear? And where oh where is Dudley DoRight?
:roflBig:
I gave a big sigh, felt a sudden sadness filling my heart and very suddenly my eyes filled with tears. Would I ever be back home, to familiar sight?

I gave a big sigh, felt a sudden sadness filling my heart and very suddenly my eyes filled with tears. Would I ever be back home, to familiar sight?
At that moment... a cloud of mist formed in front of me, and out of the mist, stepped a very nice looking man, about my age. He smiled at me, and reached out and took my hand. "I've come to help you", he said.
I was feeling so lost and he looked so friendly that I was ready to follow him blindly.
A sense of peace filled me while in my mind the words " trust, trust, trust" imprinted themselves. In the distance I saw ...
...a road winding off into the distance. My friend motioned to me that we should follow it and low and behold, there was a buggy and a beautiful white horse hitched to it. I climbed in and my friend took the reins in his hand. I looked at him and he winked at me. I asked....

"Do you really think that you can make us believe in this apparition you are conjuring up for us? As soon as reason returns, that buggy will be a basin, and the horse a little rat. Give us something rational, believable and satisfying to our needs."
He smiled, raised a hand and with his pointed finger drew a a line above his head.
A colorful rainbow spanned the sunny sky, unbelievably bright.
He gave a shake to his hand and tiny butterflies surrounded us, their scaly wings flapping lazily while they peered at us with beady eyes.
No - we are not in Alice's Wonderland and neither are we in Cinderella Kingdom.
By now I was much more relaxed and waited for the next marvel.
Now I noticed that the winding road we followed was lined with exotic flowers and colorful birds flitted from tree top to tree top. The sky was azure blue and there wasn't a cloud to be seen! I wished this were my own yard and that it could look like this but I knew it never would. Unbelievably, I noticed ahead...
my house shining under the sun and the gate open, inviting me home.
But wait a minute: I never leave my gate open. Who did it? Is he still here? I was filled with fear and overwhelmed by curiosity, so I decided to. . .
walk down and take a look. Nothing today has been ordinary or what was normal for me.
Does this day have an end? Will this riddle ever be answered? Is there possibly an answer to be had?
And who is the man in the shadows, black-clad and twirling an impressive mustache?
Cautiously I entered the house. It looked like my house, but inside all seemed new, shinier. The scratch on the mahogany table was gone, the long stain on the kitchen wall where I had spilled coffee months ago had disappeared. Even the light seemed different.
There, near the window, on my rocking chair, a woman sat, staring outside. She had my hair style...
Was the handsome young man, black-clad stranger, and this woman all related somehow? What did it all mean? And why wasn't I more concerned?
In my heart I felt a link, a kind of deja-vu, an affinity with these people as if I knew them well and should be familiar with the situation.
I know! It's all a dream! I better pinch myself. OUCH! That hurt! It's definitely NOT a dream! What then? How can it be explained? I'm not afraid...just a little...or a lot confused!
The woman with my page hair style turned around. She did not look surprised, more as if she had been expecting me, but I was stunned beyond words: she looked like an exact copy of me about twenty years ago!

All of a sudden it dawned on me. I was looking at myself . . . at the "me" of long ago, when I was young, and the house was new! What did this mean? Was I traveling back in time, or was I traveling forward in time, to a new beginning, in a warm, familiar place?
She said: "I have been reading your diary", showing the leather book she was holding between her hands.
Did that mean I was in the future? and where? Help!!!!
OR...if that's me as I used to be, is this the present where I am and she's from my past. I feel like I'm in that commercial where the child tells the adult that she is herself as she used to be. But this isn't a commercial. This is real! What's happening? I WANT MY REALITY BACK!
"My child," boomed a voice. "You shall have it. But first you must pick three water lilies from the pond over by yonder hill. They must be full blooming, pink, and picked at dawn. In each you will find a little being, begging to be held. Pick each one up, placing it on the log by the old oak tree. When you have done that, pick some moss and place it there for them to lie on. Some wild strawberries grow on the left side of the path. Pick some and place them on the log together with the chanterelles growing behind the log. When this is done, your life in Otherland will be over, and reality will overtake. Do not ask again to be transported to Otherland, because you obviously would rather be in a place of harsh realities, absurd as that may be. Goodbye, my child, and peace follow you. Do not try to call me, my telephone can no longer respond.."
:rose:
NOW WHAT?
Now you add to it... :)
Is it over? Or is there more? I'm curious! And why is the dog barking?
So, I ran over the hill until I could see the the water lilies but had to wait the whole night shivering until Aurora finally colored the sky pink. There really was a tiny cute elf near each bloom and they all fitted easily in my cupped palm together with the moss. The mushrooms were easy to find but not the strawberries which were hiding under numerous leaves. But their scent betrayed them. I was loath to depart, this looked so ... intriguing!
I was in two minds now if to go back to my normal routine or...
What to do?
And why is that dog still barking? Maybe he's stuck somewhere. But where? And what shall I do with the elves while I try to help the dog?
I needn't have worried. The elves had hopped onto my shoulder, and were pointing excitedly ahead, to the huge trees farther down the road. I started in that direction, and the barking seemed to get louder. And then I saw it ....
a cute curly haired dog barking... to a huge spider that was hanging, balancing on a web thread! The spider had a wide mouth and it was smiling!!!
Are they talking? And what are they talking about? Could the dog be telling jokes? If he is, that would explain the spider smiling...even grinning! I've never seen a spider smile. I always think of them as mean and nasty but this one actually looks happy...and so does the dog. I looked at his collar and it says his name is....CURLY! Who knew!
But wait -- that was surely a ruse. The dog was actually in disguise, and under that "sheep-skin" was a sleek-haired Doberman. The spider was also a spy (beware of false smiles), and this so-called "Curly" was giving him/her information, disguised as mischievous barking. It was something like Morse code -- "yap, yap" pause "yap", and so on. He/she was a citizen of the new Dog planet recently discovered over at Vancouver's planetarium. Little is known of this planet, but all the more reason to beware!
:dog2: :creepy:
Since the last session, I have been on the planet DOG. It is not too large, having only three village-like settlements. There are mostly two-story doghouses there, since the staircase concept has not yet been discovered, but they apparently have adapted themselves to the best jumpers having the best view. The settlements tend to attract dogs of a feather, i.e., curly-coated dogs, such as Escapoos, Goldendoodles, Labradoodles, Wowauzers, Yorkipoos, Lakeland terriers and Sheep poodles (these were on the list of occupants at the housing authority center). This was in the mountainous area near the Lower Pole. By the sea were the smaller animals that liked a run-around and a bath in the evenings, and near the Top Pole were the Eskimo dogs, and the like. They were totally vegetarian, eating the orangy "greenery" and purple dandelions (the closest I can compare the huge, crew-cut flowers to). Water was easy to find -- springs bubbled up everywhere. The citizens were friendly, but you had to find your own food, not a problem, since what was edible for a dog, was edible for a human.
Got to go -- have to walk the dog. Anybody else want to take a trip to the planet DOG?
I am back from the Isle of Dog, now where to go to next, that is the question..
Vanilla Jackie, I think the desert would be the place. The palms have wilted long ago; here are only stately cacti and scuttling insects -- thin, hard-shelled. poisonous. A few tin cans lie half buried, the remains of expeditions to this earlier swampy area. No remnants of bone, since the insects have devoured all remains to be found. In some places, the sand is scarlet, with small columns of purple smoke arising from those spots. Is this the ancient place of the .....
Ahh yes, the desert where i am eating desert, so many creepy crawlies have been surrounding me, better eat it quickly...I am sure the smoke is a smoke signal perhaps telling me of danger ahead..
I don't like this dry, buggy place! I'm getting out while I still can! I think I'll check out the beach!
What secret is that beach hut hiding..it kind of looks out of place to me..
What secret is that beach hut hiding..it kind of looks out of place to me..
What secret? Do you not see the well under the roof of the lone round edifice built of inch-thick bamboo-like gray straw? The well has smooth stone walls; the opening is dark, and the bottom is endlessly below sea level, if the timing of returning echoes can be deduced. Fresh drops of water splashed on the stone wall sting the tongue, but there is no taste of the ocean. When did that water get spilled there? No human being or other entity can be seen anywhere on this small island. The only signs of life are three flip-flops, of varying sizes, seemingly dropped in haste in the orange sand. Do they belong to three different beings, or perhaps....
...a three-legged man? What if he's an alien and he's coming to see what his buddies can get into if them land here? What if.....
His buddies have a buggy to take me around, not sure i will be happy to see what is waiting for me out there, it is so so eerie and creepy...
...and rife with creepy crawlers with big ears. Where did they come from? We should try to send them back where they came from. Does anyone know how to do that?
My new friend has made a large catapult that should send them all sky high...we can try that, does anyone else have any ideas?
I have an idea, look, see that flying caterpillar, lets head for where it is heading...I wouldn't trust following that " flying pig " nor that " Stork carrying a baby " i also have my doubts about that " gooseberry bush " sitting over there..
I don't think that's a gooseberry bush. I think it's a raspberry bush. Let's pick the raspberries and bake a pie! We can eat it outside like a picnic!
I will pick, you make and you bake, i will serve and we will eat, hope we get rescued soon as that bush will soon be bare of its fruit..
Pie is all baked and the plates and forks are out. Maybe some nice people will smell it come by to save us!
