Domestic Goddess: Is this correct, if one would like to post/share a recipe, we do so here?  If so, was searching to see if there were separate recipe categories?

Watching a Woman Work!

This was taken out the back door in Virginia and I thought it was cute to watch the male bluebird just sit there while she did the building!!"

Here is an example of a female's reaction when the male interferes with the nesting materials

Amusing.  That stick doesn't look worth all that fuss to me, but I don't know much about building materials.

Great video, Beryl!

Oh what lovely birds....not long taken in my delivery of birdseed only this is my new home and I dont get to see so many birds as at my old home...They tell us in UK that Starlings have declined but at my old home I had many many Starling visitors yet have not seen one at my new home, yet I am living in a beautiful country/seaside setting, way down in the valleys....I have the usual Blackbird both male and female and of course everybody's favourite, the Robin....there have been the odd small bird visitors that perch near to my window, now if only I had my camera at hand I would have caught a few good shots....Now I know we have a nice bird room here I shall keep my eyes peeled and my camera at the ready.....Great photos Chocky, love the Blue Tit in flight...

Natureboy, that egret picture is incredible.  The lighting gives a showy, stylized quality to the egrets.

And that mallard's fish pond isn't an ordinary fish pond; that's an expensive amount of koi.  Where is it?

I was saddened yesterday to see a large black crow taking a bird egg out of a nest in my redwood tree, and flying away with it in his mouth.  This morning I saw two crows standing on the edge of my bird bath, eating something. When I went out to shoo them away, I looked in the bird bath water, and saw egg shells, and the remains of what would have been a baby bird.  I think it was probably a dove. :'(

Yesterday there was a video posted on my local news site of a pair of Eagles feeding a cat to their chicks. Sad ending for the cat which appeared to be rather young, especially if it had been someone's pet. What disturbed me the most was that none of the commenters to the article/video said anything for the cat. They were all either smart- alicky or outright good-riddance to the cat comments. I happen to like cats.

Chocky

Me too. I love cats as much as I love birds. This is very sad.

I just pray the poor cat was dead before they started feeding it to the chicks

The "experts" (I forget who, a vet maybe?) said from the cam they thought the cat was already dead by the time it landed on the nest, but they couldn't tell if it was a scavanged roadkill or an outright kill by the eagle. I just hope it wasn't someone's pet, it looked a little like my Oscar.
