Good morning Everyfriend!  It's a cool Fall morning in Central PA.  The coffee's ready if anyone wants to join me.

I'm taking the day off today.  I got up with a slight case of "the dizzies" this morning and I'd rather not be running into things as work while it works it's way out.  Also, I'd rather not drive into anything on the way there.

I'm going to call the Dr. later and see if I need to go in.  Then I'll find someone who will drive me there.  If I go late enough in the afternoon, my daughter can take off early to take me.  If I have to go early, my good neighbor across the street is still off for her shoulder surgery but is recovereed enough that she is able to drive.

Enjoy your day!  Make it yours in every way!

JENNY, you WILL miss the doggie! The people too but that's a given!

Good morning........Jane, Lloyd and Amy and all the other friends who follow...............

June, I, too, hope that your hand is better.  It will probably take a while, as those kind of bruises usually do.

Taking blood is a real talent !  There are good ones and there are bad ones.  (Very bad ones)   Really strange how you can get one nurse who zips right through the procedure and you are on your way. Then, there are the others who have to try several times.  I had a nurse one time who took 4 tries to finally hit a vein.  I had told her that if she didn't get it the next time,  she better go get someone else.  And, most of the time, they just go on their merry way without offering a apology.

My husband had MS, but even tho he still drove, he had trouble getting into the lab building,  so there was a lab tech  who would come out to the car .  (real curb service)  And, he was good.  Never had a bit of trouble .

I have to go tomorrow morning for mine.  I hope to be able to get there when the place opens up.  I can't eat first, so I like to get there early, so I am not too late getting breakfast.  I also have a bridal shower to go to at noon,  so need to have a little bit of time to get myself together.  A niece is picking me up, so I will probably be in a little bit of a rush.

Hope everyone will have a wonderful day and get to do something special.

Thoughts go out to all those in the path of this approaching storm.   Hope everyone will be safe.

larryhanna

Hi everyone. We are to have another beautiful day in the low 80's and sunny.  I have an 11 am 6 month routine appointment to have my pacemaker/defibrillator checked.  Then I have an appointment to have the Hyundai checked for a possible leak of some type and will wait while they check it.  The housekeeper will be here this morning and I expect Pat and I will eat our big meal out this evening as we usually do on housecleaning day.

I have been keeping my eye on the hurricane reports as it appears our area will be affected by it at the first of the week with wind and rain.  This weekend I will get all of the emergency lighting and the radio gathered together as we likely will lose power.  We have plenty of food and water so we should be fine.  It is comforting to live at the top of the ridge so have little concern about flooding.  I should be able to keep my iPhone charged as the battery powered lantern I got a few months ago has a usb port.  The Augusta area is preparing for an influx of people who are evacuating.

Gloria, glad to see you are getting some nicer weather and hope that helps you feel better.  Summer colds are certainly the pits.  There seems to be a constant changing in companies now with them being sold and new management which upsets things.  Hope you have a better day today.

June, I try not to let needles be put into my hand veins as that is painful.  Fortunately they have little trouble in getting blood from my arm.  You must have had a very inexperienced person who drew the blood.

Jenny, it sounds like you will have to readjust to having a quiet house.  Glad the moving went well and hope things come off the van without damage.  The new packing materials that wrap things tightly seem to avoid a lot of dings and dents that use to be more common in moving. I will send you the two sites I use for the crossword puzzles this afternoon as I don't have the shortcuts on my desktop.  I always do them in the late afternoon and the links are on my Chromebook.  I have written an email to myself so I won't forget to send them to you. I have often wondered about the security of the information that the Credit Bureaus have on all of us.  I agree with you that nothing is probably safe from hackers anymore as daily new revelations seem to be forthcoming.  I doubt we have any idea of what the Federal government has in terms of information on everyone.

Amy, I didn't know about the crossword site you mentioned.  It looks like I may be doing three puzzles now as will put the link on my Chromebook.  You certainly had a busy day yesterday with another busy day planned for today.

Lloyd, nice to see you are feeling better today.  Your new hearing aids sound like just the ticket and very useful with the phone.

Jane, sorry to see you are dealing with another bout of dizziness.  Glad you will be checking with your doctor.

Joy, I have experienced having someone try to put in an IV and after several times get another person to come in who gets it the first time.  I don't like being a pincushion.  I have been told that it is useful to hydrate before having blood drawn.  I don't know whether that is true or not.  What a kind lab tech your husband had.

Good Morning everyone from the
sunny,  dry and coolish rocky coast of Maine.

Yesterday I also went to the eye doctor.    My eyes are
doing well  except I do have cataracts ...   We are putting
off as long as possible for me to have the cataract  surgery,
as I only can see out of my right eye.   And I do suffer
from AFib so stopping blood my thinners could be a
problem.....      So  I will wait until it is absolutely
necessary before tackling that surgery.      Fortunatelty
I can still see enough to wait a while.   (hooray!)

Well another BIG One is about to hit the Florida and it
doesn't look good for anyone now in the South East.
I sure hope that you all are prepared.

Take Care and Bless you all!

Sandy, are you sure you would have to discontinue your blood thinner?  I had my cataract surgery way before I got on a blood thinner but I did have a tooth extracted and did not have to stop my blood thinner.  If you would have to stop it, I think it would be only for a day or two.  I realize you have already had a stroke so your system may be different than mine.  I also know you keep in touch with your doctor about it.

Good Morning Everyone!

Well been an interesting morning.  I fell in the backyard this morning while putting out my sprinkler and end up at the ER.  My Daughter had to come over and help me get to my feet but I skinned my elbow pretty badly and got all kinds of junk in it, grass and dirt.  She could not get it clean and insisted that I go to ER and let them clean it, good advice it turned out.  So went to ER and they washed and prodded and got things clean and xray the elbow to be sure no broken bones, there weren't any.  Anyhow he didn't put any stitches in it, just used butterfly stitches and put a gob of antibiotic cream on it and gave me a prescription for antibiotics to take for the next five days.  He also discovered some object in my arm not connected with the injury and wanted me to see another specialist about it.  Could have been there forever so I am not going to bother. I will take xray to my PC and let him look at it and see what he has to say.  Anyhow I am obviously back home with a big bandage on my arm and my daughter will come over in the morning and re-do the dressing.  Nice to have an RN in the family.....LOL

For all our friends being affected by Irma you are in my prayers.  Stay safe.

JaneS

I'm still taking it easy.  I slept most of the morning and the dizzies are fading.  I don't have to go in to the dr. office but she's going to check some things when I go for my checkup in a couple weeks.  Of course, my daughter is texting me regularly to make sure I haven't fallen and like the lady in the commercial "I can't get up".  I didn't and I'm doing OK but it's kind of nice to have an unexpected day off.

Now I'm wondering what to have for supper because my microwave has gone on strike.  It's decided to work when it feels like it....9:30 in the morning or right after lunch.  But it yelps for a while before it kicks in.  Since the next one I get will probably be the last one I ever get, I'm doing some research.  I'm wondering if ay of you have a combination microwave/convection oven or one of each and how you like them.  If this one holds out until December, I might be able to get one for Christmas.  But I want to be sure I get what I want.

HAL, it sounds like you had a small case of "the dizzies" this morning, too.  Youll have to be more careful.

JUNE I hope your hand is looking better and I hope it didn't end up getting sore.

JENNY, I hope you're not TOO lonely.

No Janie not dizzy a case of HIA.  I was worrying about checking sprinkler and not watching what I was doing.  That was one of the questions doctor ask, did I have a dizzy spell or felt faint.

I think I shall put the 3 of you in a bubble to keep you safe.......3 you say, yes my hubby fell also but on the 6th. I did manage to get him up and made sure all was ok..

Hall, glad nothing serious happened and hope your arm doesn't give you much grief tonight when you want to sleep.

Jane, hope you feel better soon.Just take it easy and move slow until you are feeling better. I loved my micro/convection . You can do without using your big oven in hot weather.

Sandy

I admit it.   I am a worrier..
Since I take coumadin,  which is different then
other blood thinners that some people here
take,  I may have to stop it.

The problem is,  since I only have vision in one eye,
I can't afford a mistake... but the people
that will be eventually doing this operation,
are very aware of the possible difficulties
that  might happen to EVERYONE..

So he told  to keep doing what I have been doing
and if I am having problems with vision,  then
contact him immediately...   other wise I have
another appointment in  one year.

I am still worried about that damn storm about to
hit Florida.

Have a good day,  Everyone!

AMY, I'm doing like Uncle Joe on the old "PETTICOAT JUNCTION" show.  I'm "movin' kinda slow".  Unless i'm sure of something solid to hold onto, I don't move.  However, I did walk up to the corner for the mail and stopped to chat with 2 neighbors with no problem.  I think I'm clear but I'm still not making any sudden moves.  And I didn't fall!

Also, my granddaughter and her friend and their two dogs have moved out of the hurricane area so I don't have to worry about them.

I've had supper and now I'm spending the evening doing NOTHING.  The dogs have been out and Mickie took care of all the elephants and tigers and anacondas that tend to congregate in our yard.  She's good at clearing out unwanted gatherings. She's a little loud about it but she's very efficient.

Hope you all had a lovely day.

Yesterday afternoon I woke up from some ZZZZ's and saw a truck outside my window.  Closer inspection revealed it was my son's camper - here for a quick visit.

Good Morning Everyone!

Janie, happy to see you are feeling better.  Hope the dizzies have moved on.

I am sore as can be this morning.  I don't know why that is from such a small fall.  But I must have jammed the arm pretty good cause my shoulder is really feeling it.

I tried to log on last night but guess the site was down.  I couldn't get on so I just gave up and went to bed and watched the news.

Hope everyone has a good and pleasant day.

Hi everyone. Another beautiful, sunny and cooler day here in South Carolina.  According to the Weather Channel projections this morning our State appears to be out of the cone of the anticipated hurricane path as it has moved to the West. On Monday we still will be getting some heavy rain and fairly strong winds.  So I really don't know what to expect.

Yesterday I did keep my appointment regarding my pacemaker and all was well.  I still have 2 1/2 years before it will need to be replaced when the battery runs out of power.  I decided to cancel my appointment at the garage as the burning type smell has greatly lessened so think it must have been something I picked up rather than a problem with the car.  I will just keep an eye (or nose) on the situation and take it in later if needed.  Pat and I did go to Ruby Tuesday's yesterday at noon for our main meal of the day.  I think I will probably stay home today unless I decide to go to a meeting later this morning.

Sandy, when we depend on blood thinners it is frightening to cease taking them for a few days.  I would expect you would have to get clearance from your cardiologist to do so, at least that has been my experience over the years. I have never been on coumadin and that would be of more concern than just an aspirin.

Mary Ann, I find I just cannot watch the Weather Channel for too long as the commentators seem to be saying the same thing over and over.  I will continue to check it periodically to see where the cone of the storm is headed.  At least we are no longer in the center of that cone as had been predicted a couple of days ago.

Hal, any fall is frightening at our age.  Sure glad you didn't break anything and that you listened to your daughter and went to the ER.

Jane, good for your daughter in keeping close tabs on you and expect you are very happy she does.  Glad the dizziness is fading.  Too bad your microwave has decided to fail. We have never had the combination type microwave/convection oven. I know it relieves your mind that your granddaughter has moved out of the hurricane danger zone.

Jeanne, what a nice surprise that your son came for a visit and brought his own accommodations.

Amy, glad you were able to get your husband up after his fall.  I don't think I could do that with Pat and doubt she could with me other than leading a hand.

Lloyd, I have never heard that the drinking laws extended to water or a cola.  I sure hope they don't anyway.

Gloria

Good morning everyone, hearing the reports on this irma I am so glad JOAN no longer lives in Florida and I pray all our friends who live in Florida have headed north away from that monster hurricane. Makes me glad I do not live along the shore in danger of the storm surge. There is a family owned furniture company taking donations and they have a moving company that will haul the collected items to Texas. They ask for different items, shovels, heavy work gloves, hammer, nails and other items needed for rebuilding, items really needed, They have done this before and I am sure after this they will do the same for Florida,

JUNE   only once did I get a needle into the vein in the back of my hand and like you my hand swelled hugeand was a big bruise. Why that tech used my hand I don't know, I have good veins in the crook of my elbow.

MARY ANN  gettin old is only for those tough enough to put up with it but no one survives it in the end.

JENNY  yikes seeing you say Thursday evening, looks like I missed Friday. I better start reading instead of talking. Wasn't there talk many years ago about dropping something in the eye of a hurricane to break it up but then they did not know if it would make it much worse. I will not put any real personal information number or bank numbers and such in case of hacking. I really do not have much to lose but

AMY  been going into the upper 40's at night the ;last few nights. Great for sleeping but hard getting out of the covers in the mornings.

LARRY  too bad the owners of this building did not come here  and ask tenants about management. Of course that will never happen because she would be right there with them. We have had so many new ones move in the last month I feel like telling them they better find a different place. This is one of the few places where you have to be 65 to move into. There used to be more senior housing but now they also take handicapped people, no matter what age and I have heard from my CNAs that those places now have a lot of loud parties and folks our age do not like that.

HAL  sorry to read you fell. That is about the only thng I am afraid to do so am always careful.

JANE  several years ago I had vertigo. The dumb doctor I had gave me some exercises to do that made it worse so I did not do them. Just moved and turned a little slower and that dizzy feeling finally left.

JEANNE LEE  great to have a surprise visit from your son. Enjoy every minute of it.

Jeanne Lee, what a nice surprise to have your son there.  That was quite a wakeup call!

Hal, I often have found that pain shows up the second day after a fall but I noticed it more when I started bowling in the fall and used muscles I hadn’t used in a long time.

Larry, I have the Weather Channel on MUTE much of the time.  You’re right, there is much repetition in what they tell.

Gloria, truer words were never spoken.  No one gets out of living!

It’s to be a nice day, in fact, all next week is to be sunny.  We’ll be in the 70s, very comfortable.

Two of my daughter-in-law's daughters are on St. Marten, stranded of course.  And the third daughter is heading to the Outer Banks of South Carolina.   My poor daughter-in-law is a nervous wreck, even though she's heard from the "girls" in St. Marten that they are safe in a protected hotel and the major concern is the long delay that's anticipated until they can leave.

Now I have time to say Howdeeeeee!

We were off and running again this morning, over to have tea/coffee with friends and then we went onto two markets! Took my friends a hot drink and gave her some patterns. Was a little cold so we didn't stay  too long, too cold on hubby. Came back and stopped into the Mennonite market on the way home but the pears are not yet in. Now have the line full of laundry and it is just a gorgeous day for drying, sunny and windy!

Hal, you do realize when we get older it is no time to take up break dancing...I am sorry you are feeling the results of your fall today. What about a long soak in the tub? Can you wrap your bandage up with saran or plastic enough so it won't get wet?

Larry, guess it pays to be a farmer, I have lost a lot of my strength but did manage to help him part way.

Jeanne Lee what a lovely surprise and you prayers for your daughter in laws daughters.

Gloria, I would love to stay under the covers a bit longer but with two dogs they won't let me!!

Jane, hope your feeling better today. I know you didn't fall,I was just going to keep you safe!

I also had trouble getting in here last night and gave up.Glad to see it is up and running today. Sure hope June will pop in today..

Laundry is calling me..enjoy your day everyone.

So that's what caused the echo!  No one could get in!  Well I'm glad it didn't last and you are all OK.

My daughter just left.  We had a nice vicit.  She usually stops by when she's out doing her weekend errands.  Sometimes it's Saturday and sometimes it's Sunday.  But it's always nice!

Hal, if your shoulder hurts and it's not bandaged, try some Arnica gel on it!  I have a shoulder problem right now and my chiropractor told me to rub Arnica gel on it in between visits.  It sure helps my shoulder and it can't hurt!

And while I'm giving out health advice, I'm reminded that I haven't seen a post from "Doctor Shirley" for a couple of days.  Was she going traveling?  Or are there storms in the midwest?

I've begun to think about lunch and just in case I forget, the dogs are reminding me that it's their snack time.  Take care my friends!

Denver

A good Saturday morning to all.

I, too, could not post yesterday.

We had a big day at the new home.  The house hold goods were delivered and it sure was nice to see the Austin things in the new Colorado home.  Oliver, the  "Doodle" got so excited at times when things were brought in.  He especially loved smelling the sofa....I think that smell made him realize that this is now his new home.

We had a call from Mark and he sadly did not get the job he was hoping for in California.  He of course was very disappointed, however the raving reviews from the owners that interviewed him certainly helped as they wanted him to know that he was a very close second to the individual that they chose for the job.  There must be something better down the road for him.

I, too, am sure glad that Our Joan is no longer in Florida, however, there are many more friends that are, and I certainly do pray for their safety.  Irma is a mean old bag and she sure is causing a lot of damage!

The fires in the NW, the hurricane and earthquakes in Mexico, and now Jose!  Jose seems to be turning out to sea.....so maybe spared that issue.  Very worrisome!

HAL, I am sorry to read about your fall. Happy you were not hurt any worse than you were.  It is true, you always really feel the extra pain the following days!  Take care!

Neighbor came over, so I am going to post this before I loose it.

Have a great day, EVERYFRIND!

I have decided that I need to practice,
"Tuck and Roll",  as a way to prevent more damage done
to my body should I keep on falling.

Right now my right knee seem to have a life
of its own and I get a pain in it every once in a while. ...
I am so worried that it is going let go on my and
so I am contemplating the "Tuck and Roll"  as a way
of preventing more broken bones.

Good luck to all of you down in the South East... as
Irma is being erratic in deciding which way to go.

So keep your eyes open and  hope
for the best...

Shirley

Oh, Sandy, I was going to just read & not post again in order not to "play doctor" with all the falls.  Was going to say that I practice the old "tuck & roll" of long ago & works best for me!  BUT, I didn't want to suggest in case it doesn't work for everyone.  I've had some nasty falls the last few years & so far been extremely lucky to not have broken any bones (except my head that one time).  I sort of crumble down instead of bracing myself, found out a jolt on any of the joints (like Hal's) hurts worst the next day than maybe a skinned knee or palm of hands.  I use my hands to "roll" my body so nothing gets jammed.  SO, all Sandy's fault for making me preach again!  I also have a trick knee, think it has something to do with shoes or sleeping crooked & pinching a nerve.  What works best for me is plain old blue lid Ponds dry skin cream rubbed all over the knee cap.  (shut up, Shirley)

Like the rest of you, my mind keeps going to everyone we know in FL but sounds like the last hour it did a different twist.

Jane, if I didn't say it before, congratulations on the new great.  I do have a microwave & finally bought a convection oven because you can heat/re-heat a lot of different things (mostly pastry/dough types) that are not good in microwave.  I wanted the combo like you see offered in many RVs.... but didn't find any "free standing" (not built in) & probably would not have wanted to pay the price.  I don't use the convection as much as I thought I would, I have a gas stove with oven & use that oven all the time.  When I was buying the convection I considered being able to take it in the RV, but kind of heavy to haul around & not a lot of cabinet top space in the RV.... would only use it when electric connections (like in MO).  The little propane gas oven in the RV does a good job baking biscuits in CO.  YUM...

I am planning to drive to CO where I lost old LaurenKat in June.  I don't expect to find her but will whistle & also check the only humane society in the area (a no-kill). I was told they trap animals that appear to need help, she would never allow anyone pick her up but she did get caught in the trap twice when we allowed Animal Control to put a trap to catch her mother & siblings.  Each one of us set her free & didn't admit it until years later.  My son plans to go a couple days later but can't stay as long.  He teaches 2 classes at the University & has lots of planning & papers to grade.  Think he said about 90 in one class & near 70 in the other, both the same day. He drives at night so will get a few days in the mountains before winter.

My heart skipped a beat when the site was down yesterday, last night..... was afraid it was gone for good like Senior Net.  Such a relief it was up & running today.  Darn Windows 10 did an update that won't let me check Fitbit.... son fixed it once but didn't stick so will have to wait until Monday to call for their tech help.  Okay, just talked to him & he walked me through another fix.   ::)  Got to get busy, I am organizing the RV & can't believe how many times I've been up & down the basement steps so far today.

He is a trouble shooter and line man for K C power and Light.  He says they expect's to be there fixing and restoring the power there for at least four to five weeks. there are lot of live wires on the ground. a very serious situation.
Prayers need to be in place for the locals and the repair men there.

Here is some history change  I was instrumental in changing New mexico's history. the post below may explain for you. after several letter's back and fourth between me and new Mexico's officials, the military doctor took my side and and New Mexico's officials gave up and changed the law om that matter.

Good evening dear friends. I was really down yesterday. had trouble breathing , Nurse hooked up oxygen and added  a mask treatment for a different machine and sat with me and coached me  BREATHE, Blow, etc till it started to bring me back. I just wanted to quit the whole thing and go to sleep. I had nurses in and out taking vitals all day and evening. The Dr. wanted me sent to the hospital, I refused.. had a good nights sleep. oxygen ran dry about 10 p.m. so I went to sleep. Woke up feeling like me today. Just a bit shakey, so taking it slow and easy. Then a wonderful surprise, Gary, Dori, my grand daughter Rick with two year old Great Grand Ashley June.  Ah......I held her. what a treat !!! It will be Rickies Grandmothers 90 th. B.Day tomorow so they flew down from McCall to celebrate.

Now I am feeling a bit shakey so it's off to bed. Love.Hugs and prayers. June
