Legendary actor and singer Jim Nabors, best known for his role as Gomer Pyle on The Andy Griffith Show and its spinoff Gomer Pyle, USMC, has died at the age of 87. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/jim-nabors-dead-gomer-pyle-andy-griffith-show-star-was-87-1008103

For those who aren't familiar with his singing, I leave you with this (skip to 4:00 if you want to skip the dialog): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJlgio-UOng

Sad News. I still watch the Andy Griffith everyday at 7pm. Goes back a long time. Loved Gomer. Did have a beautiful Voice. Hard to think of them being so old now.

It was also amazing to hear him sing,  especially when you had only heard him as Gomer !  I used to like hearing him sing, "Back Home in Indiana" before the Memorial Day Race in Indianapolis.

He was very well thought of, I am sure.  Jeanne, yes, it is sad when you think of all those great singers are no longer with us.  Very sad !!

Jim Nabors was an Alabama native, born not far from my home here in Auburn.  My family enjoyed the Andy Griffith show with Nabors as the bumbling side kick.  He is well remembered here although some conservative fans turned aside when they learned he was a homosexual.  Very small minded, IMHO.
