Mary Ann - It's the little things like this, that make life interesting! ha ha! :yikes:  I hope you end up going to Holland, in Tom's car, as the ordeal of getting in and out of the big truck would be a problem. Also, trucks are not noted for a smooth ride, but are usually bumpy and noisy, so if it's the truck, be sure to take a cushion to sit on!  No matter how you get there - I know you'll have a good time, and a Happy Easter!  I'll be looking forward to hearing about your day. :)

JeanneP

MaryAnn.
You will be ready for a good Easter Meal after getting the transportation all taken care of. One day will not need keys to start cars.

Worrying now about all my books that I bought and they are on my IPad. Most not yet read.

But now a tech problem again.
I think I just blew my IPad. Strange. It did start up . They said like."Slide to power off" Thought I would do that as not done awhile. Turned it back on and nothing. It had 60% power still but just blank. I plugged in to power cord again but nothing works. Was working perfect last night.
Could it be the battery died? I will take it to Best Buys tomorrow and check. Never thought they just did that without some warning.

Hope you all having a nice day...
JeanneP

FlaJean

JeanneP, on the iPadâ€"-hold down the Home button and the Off/On button at the same time until the white Apple comes up, it should fix your problem.  That is called a “hard reset”.  It takes a couple of seconds.

JeanneP

Jean. Yes I check Apple and was told to do that. It worked. I really thought I had come to the end of the IPad. Been a good one. Amazing how those things work.

Did not think our weather man would be right yesterday but he was. We are having a bad snow storm at the moment. Looks about 1 inch already and coming down hard. Can you believe it is April 1? He wasn't fool daying us.
JeanneP

Mary Ann

The Easter meal is over now and all went well, even the transportation.  I went by truck and Marilyn, this is no ordinary pickup!  It is a heavy, deluxe and is the same one I could not get in a few months ago.  I still had trouble, but not nearly as bad as before.  I used a small stool and could get my left leg in the cab but couldn't budge otherwise.  My right arm would not let me get hold of the grab bar at the top of the cab so I grabbed the left side of the seat and got in OK.  Alicia came out to help me up the steps because there is no railing on the steps.  Getting into the car to come home shouldn't have been difficult, but again, I got a leg in the cab but could not slide across the seat.  As I reached for the left side, Jamie gave me a push and I was OK.  When we got home, I slid out and it was a far piece to the ground; I was bawled out by Tom for sliding out the door.  Annie's SO is well-to-do and he buys the best.  The car was quite quiet while riding along and Annie thought it was because it was higher than cars so we did not hear road noise.

There were six adults and the twins and we had ham, mashed potatoes, broccoli, rolls.  There also was corn but I didn't eat any of it.  Annie had made some cupcakes and they were dessert.

The girls behaved beautifully.

In the morning, Dot and I went to church and we couldn't go to the Cholesterol Pit if we'd wanted to because it was closed for Easter.  Annie was to pick me up around noon so we would not have had time.  We had a string quartet as extra music and they were very good.  As I sit in front, it is difficult to see, but I think we had a good attendance.

Larry, we got home in time for me to see Ian Poulter sink a putt and win the Houston Open.  I do not know if it was overtime or not.  One putt is all I saw!

Mary Ann

JeanneP

My SIL just bought a big SUV and it is much higher up to get in also. I drove a truck until I got this last Honda and wish I still had one.  I really felt good driving one as I like being high up driving down the Interstate. Now the ones that are really heavy and they put those big wide tyres on. Forget it. But MaryAnn like everything else you made that also. I think us being a little small does make a difference but chances are we are going to get smaller not grow any.  I have a little problem now for strength. Really noticing it. It is time I stopped trying to lift things anyway.  One shoulder seems to hurt after I lift something heavy.Getting awful on turning Bed mattresses.
Looks like the snow has stopped now. Bet we got 2 inches. I went out and just moved my garbage holder to the curb side.. Usually just put all the bags But think it will be easier for him to just lift up the whole thing if more snow comes down.  Crazy spring. Been awhile since it snowed in April.

Glad I got my Ipad back working and not having to buy another one yet.
think I am off to bed. Read for awhile..

MarsGal

Good morning, all.

I trust everyone had a good Easter. My sister, BIL and I went to an Easter buffet at one of the local hotels. The manager there is passionate about his job, and as usual, he was there to greet everyone. Surprise! He even gave me a hug this time. We usually go for the Easter and Thanksgiving buffets. The hotel also has a Mothers Day buffet and a New Years Eve party/buffet. The food is excellent. This year, among other things, I had a five-cheese macaroni and a stuffed chicken breast with a cheese and an herb based filling (rosemary, I think) and cooked with a tomato based sauce. I forgot to get some Parmesan-crusted clams, but my BIL took a look and said they looked a bit dry for his taste. I decided to forgo the Prime Rib; My sister said it was delicious. Of course, I couldn't pass up on the breakfast offerings, fruit and mased potatoes. I even left enough room this time for dessert - Triple Chocolate Cake. I passed up on a delicious looking Coconut Cream Pie and a Salted Caramel Cake (which my sister said was excellent, but heavy).

I miss not having lamb, but it has gotten so expensive. This year most of the stores didn't even advertise lamb. The one store that did had a price tag of $7.50 a pound for a whole leg of lamb, bone-in.

It looks like it has started snowing again. It is to warm up enough this after noon to melt it all away. In fact, the sidewalks are most melted, now, with only a little slush about. I haven't anything planned today except to do a little housework, and of course, read.

larryhanna

Hi Everyone.  It is a beautiful morning here in South Carolina. It is in the mix-50's and headed up to 85 this afternoon.  This is the big week for this area as the Master's Golf Tournament activities begin this morning with an event for young people.  Many folks in the Augusta-North Augusta area rent out their homes for the week and make very large profits.  Many of the restaurants depend on it for getting their businesses on the profitable side for the year.  People buy tickets for the early days of the week to watch the pros have practice rounds before the actual tournament begins early on Thursday morning.

Only two things on my schedule for today.  The first is to go to AT&T to have Pat's cell phone card checked and to see if I can find her an acceptable phone as the VOCA has stopped making or receiving calls, which sort of ruins the purpose of a phone.  She doesn't want a smart phone.  While at AT&T I will see if I can get them to unlock my iPhone so it is not limited to using AT&T as the carrier. Then after 3 pm this afternoon the AC repairman will be here to work on the air conditioner, which isn't cooling.  This evening I will watch the men's championship basketball game if I can stay awake as it doesn't start until after 9 pm.

We had a very nice Easter dinner yesterday.  Our granddaughter did a fine job on the turkey and the chocolate pies she made and the other dishes also turned out great.  We have enough left overs for our dinner tonight plus a little more turkey that will last for another day or so.

Sandy, thanks for the Easter greeting.  Did you get together with some of your family for an Easter dinner?

JeanneP, glad to read that you were able to hard boot your iPad and that it is working well now.  You don't have to worry about losing your books that you purchased from Apple as they will always be available on their servers and can be downloaded to your computer.  Glad you don't have to deal with that. I hope you didn't get too much snow yesterday. Have you seen the Cadillac ads where a running board is extended when you open the door on their big high vehicles?  Are you able to get into your SIL's big SUV OK?

Jean, thanks for giving the tip on how to hard boot an iPad device.  On my iPhone I just have to hold down the Off/On button and it will do a hard reset.

Mary Ann, glad you had a nice Easter day with the family and were able to get in and out of the truck with a little help.  I watched the last couple hours of the golf tournament yesterday and there was a play off hole as Poulter tied the leading score on the last hole resulting in the playoff.  The other player had a terrible time on the playoff hole so only one playoff hole was required.

MarGal, it sounds like you had a wonderful buffet at the hotel.  It is sad when we can't have some of all of the items that looks so good.  I think I have only eaten lamb once in my life.  It was not sold in the area where I grew up nor was it where my wife was raised.  I hope the snow is done in your area by now.  I just saw on the news that it was snowing in NYC and that area.

Mary Ann

Jeanne, I am all of 4'9" tall, maybe shorter now, and that is why I cannot get into Annie's truck.  The first time it happened, we were surprised, but this time we prepared for it and it still was hard, but I made it.  It sounds crazy, but next time (if there is a next time) we may try my little 3-step step ladder.  Possible, but not probable.  I don't ride often with Annie and she is a good driver, but I did feel at times we were flying low.  We were late going to Holland so I think she was trying to make up the time, it was better coming home, but we still passed a lot of vehicles.  I wonder if Tom has ridden with her recently.

I was so tired last night that I went to bed at 9:30; usually it is from 10 pm to 11 pm.  I always have to fix the cat's bowl before I go to bed and about 10 pm he lets me know.

MarsGal, your buffet food sounds delicious and I would be hard pressed to choose which to eat.  I think my appetite would prevent me from too much.

Larry, it's too bad about Pat's phone.  You seem to have a bout of things not working - also your a/c.  I miss golf in the early part of the week when it isn't on.  Except for the Sunday games, I often have the game on mute, but Sunday I'm more attentive because it is the decision day.  Yesterday I asked if there were a couple of ham slices I could have and Alicia put some in a plastic bag that was much more than I expected and she asked, "is this enough?"  I told her it was more than enough and that is what I brought home.  Tom and I have already eaten some of it.  Annie is not much of a cook so we were surprised to hear that she had baked the cupcakes from scratch.  She and her SO usually eat out.  She did tell me she has gained weight, although she doesn't look it.  She's the only person I know of who has the right to wear those skinny jeans - no hips!  Larry, your meal sounds good, in fact, most of the meals sounded good and I would be happy for any of them.

We were so fortunate yesterday in that we had no snow and it doesn't look as if we'll get any today, however, my thermometer read 21 degrees this morning.  On the 2nd of April!!!

Today I plan one last look at my income taxes, then send them in.  I'm paying through the nose this year because some of my investments paid good.  Darned if I do and darned if I don't!

Mary Ann

Marilyne

Mary ann - Sounds like you had a bit of a struggle with the truck, but overall, it worked out for you!  I admire you for going along with it.  Not sure if I would be such a good sport??  Your day sounds like it was fun, and you got to see the twins, so it was worth the ride.

Larry sounds like you had a nice Easter dinner, prepared by your granddaughter.  Turkey sounds good to me, this time of year.  We had ham, which I used to like a lot, but now seems way too salty to me.  I haven't had a chocolate pie in many long years.  My favorite is lemon meringue pie for Easter, but we didn't have one this year.  My mil used to make German Chocolate cake every year, which I liked, and don't think I've had since?

MarsGal - I also like lamb, and have noticed how expensive it is now.  My mom used to make broiled lamb chops every couple of weeks.  They were part of her ever cycling menu plan, which included about twelve items that appeared on a regular basis! ha ha   She always fixed both a leg of lamb and a ham for Easter dinner.  Sounds like a lot, but we had lots of company back in the '40's and '50's.

Larry, No, I don’t use a separate Bluetooth keyboard.  The one on the iPad is adequate for me.  We bought ourselves a Mac laptop about a year ago and I discovered that I do not like laptops, so my husband uses it.  I still use my 2009 iMac for photos or making videos and it seems so slow after using my iPad or iPhone.

Mary Ann, you sound like you had quite a nice Easter.  We are really enjoying our bird “sanctuary”.  We had a beautiful blue bird that was new to us.  Larry got a photo but I haven’t put it on the computer yet.  I finally had a cataract operation last Tuesday and will have the other eye done in another week or so.  Should have done this years ago but just kept putting it off.

JeanneP

Hard to believe but before i can go anywhere today I have to go out and dig out my car. The snow is soft so will be easy. We did get over 2 inch. Not happened for over 50 years the weather man says.Another says 1962 we had 4 inch on April 1st. Maybe this now will be the last.
Today I need to go and get some Birthday cards and get well's
Also will go into where I had my last glasses made. Must be about 9 months ago. Just been to the Eye Dr. and no changes but my favourite pair the frames have bent. I am hoping they can put the lenses into a new frame. The did that to some frame I had with a pair they made 9 months ago. I think I mess my glasses up by just keep taking them on and off all the time. He tried giving me a prescription for bifocals but I couldn't stand to walk in them.
The street are Icy and still not warm enough to thaw out. I do have to go and take my drivers test within the next few days and so I hope it warms up. Need to get my car cleaned up. Its a mess.
Better got to it. Still having to put big jacket on and hat. Crazy.
JeanneP

Mary Ann

Jeanne, I'm sorry, but I had to laugh at your having to dig your car out of the snow.  Here I am sitting by a sunlit window with the temperature about 45 degrees.  I will say it was 21 degrees earlier this morning and Tom said it was a shock to be out in the cold weather because it also was windy.  I hope for your sake that this is the last of your snow.  I wouldn't be surprised to have some here one of these days, hopefully only flurries.  I think I got my first bifocals in winter because I remember ice being my only problem in getting used to them.  So far I have not had to have tri-focals; they're never been suggested.

Jean, you see a lot better with just one cataract surgery, don't you?  I had mine done in 1999.

Marilyn, if someone tells me I can't, I do try to figure out how I can.  Also if I decide I can't, I still try to see if I can.  There are certain things when told I shouldn't, I listen, such as getting up on my little 3-step step ladder.  I did not realize the distance to the ground from the truck floor was so great - going the other way is impossible - and I will not slide out again, if I ride in the truck again.

As for being a good sport, since I don't drive any more, if I want to go somewhere with someone, I have to do it "their way", or I don't go anywhere.  Actually, my family is more than accommodating to me, sometimes more than I need, however, I usually go along with it because I don't want to refuse help too much or I won't get it when I need it.  I took a couple pictures of the girls walking, but they're movies and too large to send.  I have to put them on a flash drive to give to Tom so he can see them.

I really am recuperating today although when I got up this morning I was in much better shape then when I went to bed.  I slept good!

Good afternoon, would you believe when I got up this AM, it was snowing like crazy.  We got 5 inches, on April 2nd.

Larry, glad to see you had such a nice Easter dinner.

MarsGal and Marilyne, I cooked a half a leg of lamb. First time in 11 years.  I mention this before. I went into Stop and Shop, and the had a special on whole leg of lamb,  The one I bought was marked for $54. and the sale price was $21.  My nephew cut it in half, so I have 2 roast and 2  extra slices to broil. When I was a kid, every few weeks that was Sunday dinner. Alway peas mashed potatoes, (she made the best). always use caned milk and generally. We would have pudding, either Chocolate, rice or tapioca. Of course with real whipped cream.

MaryAnn, Nice to see you had a nice time for Easter. I have trouble getting into my friends large. She keeps a stool in for shorties like me. Although I am taller then you 4:10 ;D

Good Monday afternoon,  everyone!

I was getting ready to go out this
morning and postponed it until tomorrow
as it was snowing out....
a very light snow,  no accumulation,
but enough to make me thinks
twice about it!

I stayed home for Easter...  As a family we
don't usually get together for that,  so
I just pretty much ignore it.

I can't get over how we keep getting
snowed on ....  And it is April,  already !!!
Oh Weather here in New England is
certainly not predictable ...  But I love
living here,  anyway!

I much prefer van like autos.    I am
tall enough so that getting into them
is not a problem (yet!)  ..
What I like best is when traveling
on the road,  I am right up there with
most people,  and I prefer the view from up
there.

Happy April Everyone.
Hope no body got  fooled yesterday!!

All is well here in New England,
Waiting for the sunshine,  so I can
start complaining about the heat!!!

Dot has a Ford van/station wagon.  I think it is an Escape, but I'm not sure.  It's a sharp car, whatever.  I can just get in her car from the ground.

Gloria, I don't think your extra inch would be of any help with the truck Annie drives.  I think it is an F-150, double cab with a cap for the back if needed.  Annie is taller than her mother who is probably 5'7".

Annie's mother recently had her DNA tested.  It was something we all wanted her to do because she was adopted and the kids were anxious to know their ancestry.  Annie had hers tested first and right away she had a hit.  Then Sue did it and has located many of her birth family.  Her birth mother was a twin and has died.  (The twin mother has nothing to do with James' and Alicia's twins because they used a fertility clinic and two eggs took.)  Tom also had a hit and doesn't know who it might be but with the initials JH, it probably is a Hooker as his mother was a Hooker.  (When Norm was still married to his first wife, they went to a class reunion and Norm, in introducing themselves, got up and said "I'll bet I'm the only one married to a Hooker".  Brought down the house!)

Yesterday while waiting for Annie to pick me up, Kendrick and I were in the living room and he was looking out the slider.  Suddenly he made the strangest sound, one I had not heard him make before.  It was not a "meow".  I mentioned it to Annie when she came and she said she had heard cats make the sounds of birds when they see them.  I had not heard of that before so Yahoo'd about it and there was an article that verified it.  Kendrick could not hear the bird so his sound was not of the bird he saw; he more or less chirped.  The bird he saw was a mourning dove which has a low sound.  I'm never too old to learn something!

I had a delicious ham sandwich for lunch today and there is more ham to eat.  I also have a ham in the freezer which we will fix soon.

If you don't read the Soda Shoppe, there is a message and folder that Joan Lavalle passed away over the weekend.  No details yet.

Oh, Mary Ann, I am so sorry to hear about Joan LaValle.  I heard she was ill, but had no idea it was so serious.  She was such a nice lady.

shirleyn

Mary Ann

Shirley, Joan had been ill for a long time.  She lived in Melbourne Florida for a while, but after she became ill, her family moved her to Alabama to be near them.  She posted in S&F a couple of times, but really wasn't up to much posting.  While we hoped for her recovery, after such a long time I think many of us knew it was not to be.

I know several people post here but not in Soda Shoppe which is why I posted the message here.

I must have let the cat out earlier - then forgot him.  I kept looking for him all evening and he wasn't at any of his upstairs haunts.  I called to Tom to see if he was downstairs, but Tom must have been asleep, so no answer.  I went out on the deck to see if I could see him on the ground but no cat.  I went to the front door twice and the second time, the cat darted in the front door.  I was glad to see him and I think he was glad to get back inside because it's to be cold tonight, maybe in the low 20s.  It's about 35 degrees now.  Anyway, he's back inside and we're both very happy.  He's already come in here to check on me.

It is the big basketball night for Michigan fans and I'm not going to watch the game, however, Tom will watch it - if he's awake.  I'm not a basketball fan, nor a football fan, but I do cheer for our state teams, whether pro or college.  So, Go Blue!

Hi Everyone.  We are headed for another beautiful day and the people attending the Master's will certainly appreciate it.  This is a practice day for the pros but they sell tickets to attend that as well as the actual tournament so things are well underway in Augusta.  It is now in the mid-50's but we are headed to around 85 this afternoon.  This should be a quiet day as have nothing special on my calendar.  We might go out and eat our main meal of lunch time as Pat hasn't been out for several days.

I had an interesting day yesterday as I went to the AT&T store to have the SIM card on Pat's phone checked only to find out they no longer had the ability to do that on the type of phone she had.  I also found out why the phone had stopped working because a couple of days ago AT&T did a system update that made the phone obsolete.  I asked if they had a small flip phone like she prefers and they did, although it wasn't on display where they showed on the iPhones and Samsung Galaxy smart phones.  I bought the phone for Pat as it was actually a few dollars less than what I had spent for the VOCA, which is now useless and will be returned to Amazon for a refund.  They no longer had the equipment to transfer the contacts from her VOCA phone to the new AT&T phone.  However, when I got home and found the on line manual if said I could sign in to her Gmail account and it would download the contacts.  I had a frustrating time doing that but eventually accomplished that and saved a ton of work in trying to re-enter her contacts manually.  So now she should have a reliable phone.  Then yesterday afternoon the AC service tech came and checked out the A/C.  He found that something had caused a pressure problem that had shut down the A/C.  The unit is fine and he told me what to do if it happens again, which I documented so I wouldn't forget.  I was relieved that it wasn't a serious problem.  He didn't know why it had happened as apparently is not something he sees very often but said it was to protect the unit.  So now we once again have A/C in time for the 85 degrees this afternoon.  Last evening we finished up our Easter dinner left overs except for some turkey and a couple of pieces of pie.  Then at 9 pm I turned on the basketball game and watched Villanova beat Michigan pretty severely as they won the National Championship.

I do hope no one has purchased that VOCA phone based on my previous comments about it.  It really is a nice little phone but now obsolete, at least for AT&T.  It appears all of the phones are now using the nano sim cards rather than the larger ones.

Mary Ann, it does seem like younger people do drive a little too fast.  I guess their reaction time is better than what we now have.  I often ask my son to drive when we are together and must admit I sometimes do a little passenger side driving. Maybe Annie will decide to do more cooking.  I will be paying my income and property taxes that are due this month in a couple of days.  For the first time I am going to pay my State income tax due on my credit card as I will get a 2% bonus on the payment.  I have decided to pay about everything I can on the credit card for that reason.  I do have a pretty big credit card bill every month but always pay it off in full.

Marilyne, we usually have ham at Easter but our son had been given the frozen turkey at Christmas time and it needed to be eaten and he also wanted to get it out of his freezer.  I also would take lemon meringue pie over chocolate.  It has also been a very long time since I had a piece of German Chocolate cake with that delicious icing that goes with it.

Jean, the keyboard on the iPad is certainly much easier to use than the keyboard on the phones and I seldom use the blue tooth keyboard that I have but it provides an option.  I decided yesterday as I was trying to setup Pat's new small android phone that I really disliked it after using the iPhone.  Isn't it amazing how much clearer things are now and whiter with the eye that the cataract was removed from.  My family is having a time adjusting to seeing me without glasses which I have worn as long as any of them have known me.  I now just have to use the glasses for close work and don't even need them to use the computers.  I was more than ready to get the second one done after the first showed such a change.

JeanneP, I hope that you have seen your last snow.  In South Carolina they do not require older folks to retake the driver's test.  Do you actually have to go out and drive or is it just the written test?

deAngel, it sounds like snow shovel weather up your way.  I have never liked tapioca pudding.  My mother would make it once in a while.  I think it was the little lumps that I didn't like as pudding should be smooth.

Sandy, hope you will be able to get out today if your weather conditions are better.  I have never owned a van but would also enjoy being up higher to drive.  It seems when I park someone always parks beside me with a big truck or van or SUV that blocks my view in trying to back out.  I always back out very slowly so that anyone coming can either get by or stop and wait for me.

Mary Ann, I have not yet read the messages in the Soda Shoppe so didn't know about Joan's passing. She certainly suffered a long time.  Sorry your Michigan team was not the winner last night.  They got off to a good start but then Villanova really took over.

ShirleyN, good to see a post from you and hope all is well with you and Danny.

ShirleyN, good to see a post from you and hope all is well with you and Danny.
Thanks Larry.  We are doing pretty good - just getting by, day by day.  We do have a bus trip planned for next week - from here to Fort Myers, then on a boat to Key West for two nights, then up the Keys to Ft. Lauderdale for an overnighter.  We have decided no more cruises ( :() as neither one of us can walk too much.  This trip will be mostly riding the bus & in Key West they have trolley cars that we can get on and off for our two day stay.  Danny is looking forward to visiting the cemetary, as we could not make it to his sisters funeral last month.  Also, his son still lives down there, so we will get to see him, too.

A quick hi to Mary Ann, Joan, Marilyne, deAngel and the rest of the gang  (I really should know better than to start naming names.   :-[

Larry, you certainly have had a trial with Pat's phones.  I hope this new one will be the end of all the troubles.

Shirley, it is good to hear from you.  Have fun on your trip next week.  It sounds like a good trip for you to take since there is less walking.  Jim and I did not cruise, but we took several conducted trips and I loved them.  Today I would not think of taking such as those trips.  Age sure does cut down on one's activities.  I'm glad you have been to the Strawberry Farm, someone has to keep up the tradition!  Ha!

I've got to fine tune my income taxes and send them in.  Since I must pay both Federal and State, I wait until now to finish up.  Filing Federal is free with e-file but I would have to pay $25 to e-file the State so they can wait until I snail-mail in the form!  So there!

Shirley - Your trip to the Key's, sounds like a dream trip to me!  If I had a chance to go to Florida, I would head straight for the Key's, and visit every one.  Every so often HGTV will have a show about a couple who is looking to buy a house there, and they show the little towns, and the beaches and all the unique architecture.  I'll be looking forward to hearing about your trip -  hope you have a great time!

Mary Ann - Glad that Kendrick was waiting somewhere outside for you to appear and let him back in! Pretty soon it will be warm enough for the two of you to spend some time on the deck, getting some fresh air.

Sunday, April 1, was our #2 daughter’s birthday.  It was the first time in her lifetime, that her birthday has fallen on Easter!  I think she said it won’t happen again for another 30 or 50 years, etc.?  She spent the day in Monterey, with her bf, and they ate at one of the historic restaurants on the wharf.  Last night we took her out to dinner here in town, to a place we had never been - Billy’s Chowder House.  It was much more than just chowder, although we all had a cup to start our dinner.  Sandy had a lobster roll, that was huge, and I had a grilled haddock sandwich.  Both came with sweet potato fries and veggies.  AJ had Jambalaya.  Overall a very good meal!.

Yes, I was amazed at how white the whites are after my cataract removal. 😊  be glad to have the other eye done and over with.

Sorry to hear about JoanL.  I know she had been ill a very long time.  It’s a sad time for her family and sad to lose another member of S&F.

Marilyn, I think my birthday fell on Easter in 1996, the first time ever and I won't be around for the next time; I don't even know when that would be but it is far off.

I often order some fish when I eat out because I won't get it at home.  Before Norm was married to Dot, he and I used to meet at a nearby restaurant and I would order broiled haddock along with coleslaw.  That was my meal.  Oh, I would have wine before I ate, but my choice of wine did not go with the haddock (or maybe with the coleslaw) and Norm would finish that for me.  I haven't seen haddock on a menu since Norm and Dot married and we didn't go there any more.  What I seem to get now is Michigan whitefish, also a good fish.

Kendrick is now on my bed.  When I go to my bedroom, whenever I go to my bedroom, he jumps on the bed and wants to be ruffled.  So we do that for a few minutes, then I go to the bathroom where I have always dressed (since childhood).  I know last night he was glad to see me open the door because he darted in and was almost glued to me until bedtime.

We were to get some snow, but our temperature is in the mid-30s and radar shows snow both north and south of us.  It is a dreary day, so we may get rain.  We're on the south edge of snow but I think it will be rain.

Jean, that's three we've lost this year already.

I am meaning to go take the driving test today but the storm is so bad. Need to drive 10 miles up to the place to take it. I only have a few days before birthday and so can't wait long.
Larry.  Now here we have to take the road driving test every year but seem not the written one.  I think maybe that is because you have to do that there on a computer. Lots our age still do not use computers and they don't want to be standing over them.  I still think they should go by you record with our Insurance companies. I have had same one for 40 years with never a accident. Even my insurance think like me.

Bet get dressed and go...

JeanneP - I hope you didn't have to take your drivers test in the rain?  On the other hand, they might go a bit easier on you, because of it?

Mary Ann - I hadn't seen haddock for a long time either, which is why I decided that a grilled sandwich sounded good.  We used to be able to order it at seafood restaurants, but haven't seen it on a menu in years.  It was very tender and tasty.  Similar to cod or sole.
