Slept in AGAIN! Gosh this is getting to be a habit   Not much planned for the day, will check to see if the other van is ready to go or not. The garage squeezed us in so I don't want to bother them too much.

Nice sunny day her and I am sure it will warm up fast.

Hi Everyone.  Late last evening we had a nice rain and it was perfect timing as the lawn people were here just yesterday.  It is to get to the low 90's again today but only a slight chance of rain.  I will go to coffee, after a brief stop at Walmart for a prescription, and then picking up my friend at the retirement home.  Yesterday didn't really turn out much like I thought it might.  We decided to not go out to eat (maybe will do so today) and although Scott came over he stayed for only maybe 30 minutes or so as he had been fighting a migraine headache all day long and he thought it was better when he came over but it came back after he got here. 

Jane, nice to see you gave yourself a little "do nothing" time when you got home from work.  We hate to throw food away as well.  Pat has decided she doesn't want to buy anymore of the prepacked small salads as sometimes we have to discard it.  I am sorry about that as it made having a salad a lot easier than starting with the head of lettuce and dealing with the other items.  I saw pictures on the news last night about the terrible flooding in the Harrisburg and surrounding areas.  Sure glad you haven't had to deal with the flooding.  I hope your storm wasn't too bad last night. 

June, I hope your Mac get fixed up soon as we will miss your longer postings. 

Shirley, good advice to June on getting the mouse to use.  I would like the catsup in chili and often just add it at the table.  The last chili Pat fixed she used a recipe for the Instant Pot and the spices were just too much so it needed to be toned down.  It sounds like you have a lot of good eating prepared.  Do you freeze portions for later meals.  Pat recently got some freezer meal trays that are divided into a large section for the entree and two smaller sections for side dishes.  She had enough tuna casserole and side dishes to fix up three of the five containers and they stack nicely on top of each other. 

Jenny, glad to see you didn't get a bad storm last evening.  We had rain but didn't hear any thunder.  It was a very humid day here yesterday.  The Nest cameras are a good idea.  We have a Ring doorbell that has the camera in it and I get a signal each time someone approaches the front door.  It is battery powered so was easy to install and should someone steal it they will replace the unit.  With a fee it saves the video on the company server so could be accessed if ever needed.  It sounds like your neighbors are paying attention to what is going on in the neighborhood and that is good.  Those sink holes are frightening. 

Amy, is the van needing the mechanic the one you are selling to your neighbor?  Nice of the garage to squeeze you in. 

Good morning.  Nice to see the sun shining.  We have had so many days of rain, rain and more rain.  Lots of flooded areas all around.  They are still predicting some scattered showers for the next couple days, but nothing as bad as we had the past couple days. 

I am feeling somewhat better from some annoying problems I have had for a while now. I did go to a urologist on Tues, and hopefully, he will be able to solve the problems.  Still so tired, tho.

I will have to go look up the zucchini marmalade recipe. That sounds so good.  One of the ladies who lived here made a good zucchini relish. I never got to get the recipe, but I am sure there are lots to be found. 

I have a meeting this morning to fill out the paperwork to renew my lease.  I will be here 11 years in November.   And, I wasn't going to stay when I first came here.  I still miss my condo.....especially  my own washer and dryer and my nice balcony.   But, have to live with what I have.

Went to the grocery store early this morning and discovered that 7 a.m. is a good time to shop my WM. 

LARRY, I bought a Vidalia onion. 

When I got home I mixed up the quick sweet bread that I found on line yesterday and it's in the oven right now.  Also making doggie food.  And later I'm going to attack some weeds that had the audacity to appear between the cracks in my driveway. 

After that...we'll see.

Good morning....barely!  The time just passes so quickly. 

We had a lot of activity on the camera to view this morning!  A storm early this morning with a lot of thunder and lightening to view as well as several walkers going by. 

LARRY, we had already installed a nest door bell a couple of months ago.  We can watch on our iPhone or iPad what is going on when we are away.  It is great to see a delivery and know a package has arrived, as you know.  These things are fun entertainment but can certainly be helpful if some bad activity is going on as well.  I am sorry Scott had to cut the visit short due to his miagrain. 

JOY, good to see your post.  Glad your problem is improving...and after your doc visit it might be better. Funny how quickly the years pass and even though you miss your condo, it appears your home is working out for you now.  I would certainly miss having my own washer and dryer too! 

AMY, I slept in this morning also and it frightened me to see the time when I woke up!  Not like me to be so deep in sleep, but I guess my body needed it!  I hope the call that your van is ready came soon after you posted.

We have a condo meeting this afternoon so I had best get something done before it is time to go.

Mary Ann, I am just hooked on some of the cams they have, I check out Time Sq. every night and NY Harbor, I like to watch the Cruise ships go out by the Lady in the Harbor. also the NY sky line

June . we are all sending you extra hugs till you get back to us. Does the complex have an extra computers, like in the Library for common use.

I posted a recipe for a sweet bread over in recipes.  It has only 3 ingredients and is so easy to change the flavor.  And it was delicious.  It took me about 5 minutes at the most to whip it up and 25 minutes to bake.  The hardest part is waiting for the ice cream to soften enough to mix.  Eating it is the fastest and the easiest part! 

Joy:  Good to know you are feeling better.  Take care. 

Jane:  It must be hard to cook for yourself.  I had problems when going from a family of six and all the recipes were for a dozen people.  I still go to the extra-large pots & make double baking because one can always be frozen or given to a neighbor. 

Jenny:  Some storms around here - very sad stories too.  Manitou Springs is always a dangerous place.

Jane:  Did you eat all the ice cream before letting it thaw for the recipe?  Good for you.  Just buy more next time. 

I wish that we had instant karma when a robo phone call comes through. 

Next month, I have to call in and check if Jury Duty is for me.  No one on earth has been called as many times as me - well, it seems like it.  Once, I was stuck until the wee hours of the morning with one man smoking cigars - it was awful.   

No, CAROL, I didn't eat the ice cream.  I ate a lot of the bread after it baked.  And was definitely "more-ish".  I know what you mean about the difficulty of cooking for one but I tend to make things that I can freeze in dinner amounts for when I don't feel like cooking.  Cooking has always been a tension reliever for me.  I always feel better after I cook something.  And you're right.  It's nice to share!  And I think that's part of the reason I've stayed healthy.  I don't eat out much and I don't order in! 

Now I'm thinking about supper and I think I'm just going to have one of the tomatoes my neighbor brought me and some of the cucumbers and onions that I made up from those my daughter brought me.  And maybe I'll have the other ear of corn I bought Tuesday.  Sounds like a good supper to me.

Amy, on my radar, it shows the storm going SE and it looks like it will be in northern New York, away from you.  I hope!

Mary Ann, we just had it! Thunder lightning and pounding rain....we got off lucky. Folks in other area may be without power for a while as their sub station is on fire!!

Goodness what a night for storms, if you missed the first one another one came along..

Today the van should be ready to go....they had to put an e cable on it and that had to be brought in. Will do a bit of shopping while in town early to be the crowds then home to maybe tidy up the sewing room.
No food is wasted here either, what we or the dogs don't eat,crow will gladly clean it up

Janie fast short lines and lots of smiles for you today.

Gloria, when the power went out last evening and we were on generator I put a fan on for both dogs that were on my bed.

Good morning everyone. My son took me to visit The vampire  yesterday then took me to his house where my DIL had breakfast cooking for us. Nice surprise. Got home just as my CNA was walking toward the door. Of course by the time we got up here my back was agony so she gave me a wonderful back massage and then I lay on the couch and was almost asleep when she left and I did fall asleep. I woke to my phone ringing, my daughter wondering why I was not on Skype. So got up and tuned PC on and we had a short chat and I went back to the couch. Does not pay for me to go out anymore.

JENNY  this area was up in arms about Cox being down. Not the first time this has happened this year. They are getting worse but we cannot change to Fios in this building.  Even the buttons in the foyer did not work because Cox has charge of those, too.

AMY   when lights go out here their generator will keep the hall lights on and even the elevator will be working.

Gloria that is what goes with old age. not what it is cracked up to be.so now you know what you have to look forward to when you get old. not the age that bothers me it is the long hours and the miles took tool on me. and getting motivated that slows me down. sun is shining and headed back up to more heat here. have a great day everyone.

Hi Everyone.  Our high temperature is suppose to get to 90 degrees again today with the possibility of more afternoon showers.  We did have a nice shower yesterday right after noon.  We had decided to wait until mid-afternoon to go to Wifesaver's for our main meal of the day and by then the rains were over.  Today the housekeeper will be here and that is all that is on the schedule.  I don't expect to go anywhere today.  I am well into an ebook and another audio book so will probably spend time on both today. 

Joy, glad to see the weather conditions are improving in your area. 

Jane, I usually go to Walmart around 9 am as that is the time the pharmacy opens, which is often why I go there.  I find that is also a good time to go although there are always a lot of cars in the parking lot.  I usually go through the self-check out section unless I am closer to a cashier and don't want to walk to the other end of the store.  I forgot to look yesterday whether there were any Vidalia onions at Walmart.  However, I don't think Pat needs any onions yet.  We have some of those audacious weeds down here as well.  Fortunately, the lawn man pulled them when he was here this week.  I had the opportunity to talk with him and thanked him for doing that.  I saw your recipe for the bread using ice cream and am sure it would be very good but I think I still prefer the ice cream cold. 

Carol, I think I have mentioned that Pat just got some divided container trays to fix frozen meals and they can be used in the oven or microwave.  We are going to try them out tonight for our dinner with the tuna casserole and the two vegetables Pat fixed in them and froze a few days ago.  I think these are going to work very well for us.  Unfortunately they come five to a package so think she will order 5 more so we have an even number.  They stack nicely on top of each other in the freezer.  Do you have to serve jury duty if you are over 70?  We do not here in Georgia or South Carolina.  I have been on at three or four juries over the years but could not physically handle doing that anymore. 

Amy, glad to see you survived the bad storm without damage.  You are getting good use out of your generator.  Feeding any leftovers to the crows sounds like what we did on the farm when we could through the left overs, bones, etc. over the barn yard fence.  What is an e cable?

Gloria, too bad your have to pay such a price to get out and about with your back.  It was nice to have the surprise breakfast. 

Lloyd, that kind of rain really doesn't do much good.  Hope you had a good night last night.   

Sandy, I hope you found a bargain of something you wanted at the thrift store.  We are now having a lot of humidity here also. 

June, always glad to see you posting and see that all is well.  Do you know when you will get your desktop MAC back?

Jenny, can you adjust the range as to how far out your camera goes?  I can on the Ring doorbell cam and usually just a car going by won't trigger it but the garbage or other large trucks do.  Does your system do a continuous video feed?  I expect you are still recovering from your trip to Phoenix. 

deAngel, this has apparently been a difficult time for the weather forecasters.  The rains here have been so spotty that they may have a heavy rain just a few miles from us and we get nothing or vice versa.  However, we have been blessed with sufficient rain this year and everything is still very green. 

We had a call last night after 10 pm and it was our daughter saying she had been offered a new job - the reason for the late call was her new boss was in India.  She can work out of her home or go to San Francisco or other areas.  We had one other nice piece of news yesterday - only one more praying about.

I made a different oatmeal last night by soaking it and spices in the fridge.  It just isn't as flavorful as the Steel cut oatmeal made in the crockpot overnight. 

Jane:  Our closest WM now has only 1 human checking out and several helping in the self-check section.  I like to talk to the human.  Yes, I did learn the machine - I don't like it.  It isn't fun.

Larry:  What is the name of the dividers and where can they be found?   Thanks  What makes you think I am over 70?   

Paramedics are in the neighborhood.  They arrive with a full fire truck and another rescue squad - they are super people! 

Got home from work very tired again.  I had lots of smiles but two loooong and bizzzzeeee registers today.  We now only have 2 express registers left in the store.  The rest are all belt registers or self check.  I think I'm being forced out! 

I bought more ice cream to try another flavor of sweet bread.  This time it will be mint chocolate chip...my all time favorite! 

Didn't get a nap in but the dogs are taking care of that for me.  They are both under the desk snoring! 

I hope you are all having a great day!  We have thunderstorms on the way tonight.  Scared doggies!

Time seems to have wings as it sure flies anymore it seems.  Vehicle is still not ready, so Mon will be the day. I managed to get to the store before it became a sardine can, picked up a dozen cobs of corn 12 for $2.00 which sure beats the 89 cents a cob they were asking. we had some for supper and oh my was it good, gave the neighbour 6 cobs and hope they also like it. I was going to go pick beans but the plants are still wet from the rain we had ,maybe tomorrow I can pick .

I squeezed in a short nap and the thunderstorms never materialized.  The dogs are happy and I'm grateful but the threat isn't over yet.  I suppose they'll materialize just as I'm drifting off to sleep and I'll have 2 dogs plastered fast to me.

Gloria de, we have computers in our library but I never a need to use one, and now I am telling myself this is the time to learn the lap top.It was a gift from mu kids so it would be shameful not to make good use of it.

Jane, I didn't get any cherries canned so far this year. Store is asking 3.00 a lb for them paid 1.69 last year. Maybe they will come on sale a bit later.
June, when I came on your smiling face was in the random image,.so nice to see. Knowing you,you will master that lap top.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I feel a bit more rested today.  I slept pretty well last night.  It was raining when I went to bed and while the yard is wet this morning, the streets and sidewalks are dry and we are not supposed to have any more rain until sometime next week.  I might just get the weed whacker out and see what it wants to do.

AMY, I haven't done any cherries yet either.  The local ones were going at $4.00 a quart box and I bought one to eat.  The shipped in ones are always available and they are going at $2.78 a pound.  I might get some of those to make brandied cherries for Christmas gifts.

I guess I better get this day started.  Cathy told Chirsty in my presence that she hasn't been to the Amish store in a long time.  I'm hoping that means she plans to go today and if she does, I'm going along.  And if the cherries are cheaper there, I'm buying.

JUNE, keep up the good work!  You're doing very well!  We miss you when you're not here.  Sure hope you find that "other" JUNE today!
