Hello Everyfriend!  Today was a weird day!  It snowed a bit before I left for work but then we had nothing all day.  It is supposed to be snowing now and to last all night but I haven't had to let the dogs out lately and I haven't checked to see if it is doing that.

I have a dentist appointment tomorrow morning (rescheduled from 2 weeks ago when we had snow) and my cleaning dynamo is supposed to be here around noon (also rescheduled from 2 weeks ago) and some people coming for a meeting at 4:30 (also rescheduled from 2 weeks ago.  I'm thinking if the predicted snow and freezing rain come tonight and tomorrow, the appointments will all be canceled again!  but that's life in Central PA in the middle of winter!

I was so tired when I came home from work today that I took care of the doggies needs, loved them up a bit and then we all settled down for a "long winter's nap".  I even turned off my phone.  And never turned on the computer until a few minutes ago.

AMY, GREAT that you don't have to do jury duty.  I've never been called for that.  And I hope I never am!

JENNY, it sounds like your father's sadness if more for others than himself.  He misses what he has had with Diane and feels sorry for being able to do that for her.  I see where you learned to care for others.  Daddy taught you!

I'm going to chase the doggies out one more time and see if the snow started and then I'm going to hit the hay.  If we get the snow, I'll be bus cancelling appointments again tomorrow.

Rest peacefully...wake happy and may God bless us, every one!

Good Morning everyone. 32º and cloudy. no matter we had enough rain that it melted all the ice off of our deck, the wind is very genital and doesn't feel so cold out there. I have had my self a cold drink of water to fix the dry mouth ,so back to bed. see you all later.is 3;46 AM C T S Time.

G'Morning all, sorry to read of your health problems Larry, hope you soon get back to your normal cheery self,  i'm sure once we start to feel the warmth of the sun again it will work wonders for us all !, I had a few moments to have a chat with Lloyd this morning, I think he has enough energy at 4am that puts me to shame !, I know he had to get up at that time but to switch on his PC and have a conversation puts me to shame !:-) :) ,I see Don also has had a problem with falling too, thats something I really dread as I know I would have to stay where I fell until I could summon help, well, that's my little visit over, just time to wish everyone a good day and hope to see you again soon,  cheerio for the time being. Roley.

Amy

Good morning everyone.
Marking my spot  till I come back. Taking hubby in for blood work and if the barber is open here in town he will get his hair cut also.Hope to beat the storm that is on its way.

Take care and enjoy your day

Hi Everyone. We have a damp and cloudy morning and some heavy rain showers and winds are predicted for a 4 hour windows late this afternoon.  I ended up having to spend the night in my easy chair and finally got maybe a couple of hours of sleep in it.  This cough associated with my heart was bothering me last night and I knew it would keep Pat awake.  I have only two things that I must do this morning and the first is to meet with my friend to work with him for an hour.  Following that whenever Pat is up and ready she will take me downtown for a quick blood draw in preparation for an appointment with my GP early Friday morning.

Joy, we are going to try to get out at least once a week to eat.  Unfortunately right now my appetite is shot, something very unusual for me.  My evening and night wasn't very comfortable either.

Jenny, it doesn't take long for those 50 years to pass.  I hope Kurt had a nice birthday.  Right now I can relate to your Dad's comment about being sad not to go out much but in my case it is the burden that has now befallen Pat in caring for me.

Don, I read most of the article you posted.  Thanks.

Jane, better to cancel appointments than risk being out in the bad weather where you could fall or get stuck in the snow and ice.  I am glad you could have a "long winter's nap" when you got home from work.  It seems from your postings that your job is taking more and more out of you.  I am sure you would not now be required to serve on Jury duty based on your age.  In Georgia and South Carolina people are not called or have to serve after the age of 70.

Lloyd, we are expecting it to get to about 80 today and rain later in the afternoon.  Glad the rain melted your ice on your deck.

Roley, glad you checked in today and I hope I can still be my cheery self and that this situation will pass.  It is not getting any better at this point.

Amy, does your husband take blood thinners and thus get bruises on my arm or wrist where the blood is drawn.  I hope he can get a haircut.  Both Pat and I one but will have to do that on a day when I am doing nothing else.

Gloria

Good morning everyone, 17° now so it will be snow when it starts around 11 am. Schools are all sending kids home early, some at 11 and some at noon.
Having one of those blah days, going to call and cancel my CNA for today. Not up to hearing here never ending talking. No matter how I have told her she gives me a headache she still never shuts up. This is one day I just do not want to hear it.
No comments here either. Hugs and prayers for all. Hope those in the way of this storm in the east are safe from the snow/rain.

No storm here...yet but son is in one in Toronto..
Just got a call that our power will be interrupted on Thur from 9 -12 and 1- 4..while they hook up all the new poles they put in.
Hubby got blood work done and had his hair cut, so he is good for another 6 weeks or so.

Gloria, hugs that your day will be better for you. Enjoy the peace and quiet. :)

Joy, that was a wise move you made to stay home.

Jenny, Happy Birthday to Kurt....time sure flies , doesn't it?

Jane, this is the 3rd time I have been called and yes hope it is the last but the girl said for the NEXT one just do what I did to get out of this one!! I served 11 days on the first jury!

Larry, easy does it..........don't push yourself too hard. Not saying that man is bull headed but well .......you know :) Yes, he does take blood thinners and now this new RA DR wants to put him on a med that scares the dickens out of me as it destroys the immune system :(

Just put a pot of pea soup on the back of the cookstove..will throw some ham in later.

Hi Roley, how are you doing?

Where is Shirley??

Enjoy your day everyone.

I've been up and greeting the day by calling off everything that would jeopardize my safety or that of someone else.  No dentist, no cleaning dynamo and no meeting with my daughter and friend.

We had snow all night and about 9 this morning it turned to sleet an has been throwing that at us ever since.  The doggies need a nudge to go off the porch and I would too.

I have one load of laundry in the dryer and another "Laundering" (thank you Phyllis).  I've also moved my portable heater into the office to get it warmed up because I'll probably be spending a lot of time in here today.  I have three different forms to fill out and I might as well do it while I can't go out.  And I might as well be warm while I do it.

I hope all of you are being cozy from whatever is brewing in your area.  Stay in and stay safe.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LARRY

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GLORIA DE

...and Happy Birthday to Miss Ellen.  Doesn't seem like 26 years since her other grandmother and I decided "this will take all day" and went on to do errands - arriving home to a frantic call from the hospital,  "She's on the way. You need to get here!"  We made it!  :smitten:

Shirley

Right behind you, Callie.... and that sun do hurt the eyes it's so bright! Good Morning to All You Friends!  :hello:

I'm planning to get the hose out to water the young trees, flowers & shrubs that need it... and then wash my poor little car. It is so dirty I can't get in without getting my slacks dirty. Tomorrow is supposed to be warmer so that big job may get put off.

Amy, can't help but comment about your concern of a new med for "what's his name"  ;) ... my daughter was on one that you see advertised all the time on TV... she knew it was causing her a problem so when she was diagnosed with "chemical induced Lupus" she insisted she was going off the med. Her doctor threatened her that "she would have to find a new doctor if she did"... but she did it anyway and guess what, after a couple months the Lupus was GONE and that is considered not possible~~~ Don't think she is going to the same doctor anymore, but right now she has everything under control with no meds. Doesn't mean all meds are bad, just got to go with instincts & knowing your own body. I bit my tongue to never give my opinion for Cas' medications, no advice since I didn't want him to argue with MY decisions.

Happy Birthday to Larry and Gloria de...

Callie, thank you for reminding me about the birthday!

I was rushing to get a card in the mail & my post wouldn't do what it was supposed to do... like larger print. What's with this???  So thought I would try again while I warm up. It doesn't feel as warm out as promised & took me longer to get things watered. Couldn't get one faucet opened (must have had help turning it off last fall).... so put together the 2 75 foot snake hoses to do the job. Will see if tomorrow is warmer, will wash icky off the car then!

Thanks so much to those of you who included Ellen in the birthday wishes.
Here's wishing the same to Joy's granddaughter, who is also 26 today.

Shirley,  I wondered if it would be too cold for you to water.  I had to wear my heavy coat every time I went out today.

Am having to fill the sunflower feeder every other day.  A big flock of sparrows are greedy and competing with the cardinals, chickadees and other birds.

June Drabek

Hi, all, decided this morning to stop taking care of myself and being unhappy, so I got up, cleaned up, dressed, and started my day as I used to with the exception of the last two weeks, when I really fell apart. Gary had me join Hospice, which I was happy to do, but it has been a nuisance. It will be fine when I am dying, but too much nonsense now.

Tisie, mine is a lung condition too. There is a growth on my right lung. The hospital would love to investigate it, but not me......let go and let God, is how I feel at the age of 94.

Larry, both my Oxygen machine and the Albuterol machine are for my lungs, but I feel either or both could help your problem too. I know my heart  beats like crazy when I need the other things. I have been so low the past two weeks, I woke this morning and said, "do you prefer to die laying in bed, or would you rather start doing your walks and drop dead?" So I have started walking with my cart again. And I feel better because I have walked today. Still need to take time out for the oxygen machine, but that's o.k. with me, and I know I would not make it through the day without the albuteral . I think each one of us has to make our own choices and do as our mind and body requires. And pray...without God we are nothing.

Gloria de, for me the nebulizer is a part of life. The oxygen helps, but I could skip a bit and still make it. However the Albluteral clears the top part of the lungs, so breathing comes much easier.

Janie, I don't know how you continue to work with your poor hands so ill, and you still have all the things you do at home. I need to do exactly as you are.....paper work that is worthless and needs to spare my kids. I admire you SO much for all you do, and I pray God gives you the strength to do what is still essential. Hugs, girl.

I am running late for supper so will bid you all a very Blessed and safe and peaceful
Good night while God is watching over all of us. Thanks be to God. Iove you my friends. June
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Shirley

Sounding like our old June! I have been hanging around to see if you showed up tonight... you are a treasured part of my life, June. Cas went to a lung specialist to see if oxygen would help him, but was not his problem. His was strictly a weak heart muscle and pills did help that. Love hearing that you are going to "live until you die"... as I told my doctor I plan to do. God give you the strength to enjoy and be enjoyed every day for the rest of your life! God Bless, sweet dreams and a little of Joan's Angel Dust......  Tisie/Shirley

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GLORIA DE, LARRY, JOY, MISS ELLEN AND MY OWN GRANDDAUGHTER, NATALIE!

Today was a very good day!  My neighbor cleaned the snow off my driveway.  I did the laundry and cleaned out one more file drawer, put some stuff away and got ready for the dynamo to come tomorrow while I'm at work.  I can come home to a nice clean house.

JUNE, congratulations to you!  You're attitude is one that I truly admire.  I'm so glad I "know" you!  And thank you for your concerns for me.  My hands are "sometime painful".  When they get too cold is the worst but some days I don't even know "Arthur" is around!  Today was good.  There are always little sore spots but they are bearable and I just try to ignore them.

Now I'm off to bed!  I hope you all had a day as good as mine and that tomorrow is even better!  May God bless us, every one!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's COLD today.  We got snow yesterday, then sleet, then rain, then more sleet.  The front sidewalk is treacherous!  I had shoveled it off while it was raining but now it's one solid sheet of ice with a dusting of snow on top.

It was 32º when I got up this morning and it's gone down to 30 in the meantime.  I'm mostly ready for the cleaning dynamo.  In addition to the house being clean when I get home from work, she'll feed the doggie their noontime snack at noon.  They like her when she does that.  And she'll let them out once or twice while she's here.  They like that too.

I'm taking some papers along to make a quick stop at the Electric company on my way home to see if there's anything else I need in order to get a small rebate for the insulation.

I wish you all a very good day.  Stay warm!  Stay dry!  Love well!

I wish I could huff and puff and blow warm air up to all of you in the cold and snowy North.  Please take care if you have to go out.

It is supposed to be warmer here and I can see the glow of the sun coming up over the hill across the creek.  It will be welcome after two days of cold rain.  I plan to go get the car inspected so I can renew my registration.  Not looking forward to it but the inspection place is not far, the waiting room is comfortable and has wi-fi so I can take my pad and read.  The sports program on tv that they always have turned on is really boring.

Happy Birthday (late, as usual) to Gloria de and Larry. I hope you both had an easy and enjoyable day.

Good to see longer posts from June and Larry even though you are both struggling right now.  I think of you often, with a prayer to go along with the thought.

I watched Best in Show at Westminster dog show last night.  Always love seeing the dogs.   A wire-hair took top prize.   I was pulling for "Bean", the Sussex Spaniel.  His grandfather took Best a couple of years ago.  His name was "Stump".  Their owner's have a wonderful sense of humor.

I must be up and away.  Stay well, All.

As always a day late but a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY GLORIA de  and LARRY.

Good morning everyone. Did not have to cancel my CNA yesterday. Once it started snowing and knowing the parking area here she called and asked if there were amy places open. T here is 3 rows for parking and half of the third row is for visitors where she would have to park. Since snow was coming down all cars in the first row had to move so the other 2 rows were full. She was glad because the roads were not too good by that time. They have to keep the front row clear in case of an emergency for a rescue and fire truck and police‪ car whenever anyone pulls the emergency cord. The snow piled up fast when it started but we only got 31/2 inches. Goodness one would think it was a foot or more the way the weather guessers were  talking about it. I did enjoy watching the snow comin‌g down. Slept a lot of the afternoon away. I took chicken stock out of the freezer and made soup, sure tasted good. I have one more container of the stock in the freezer.

AMY  I did enjoy the quiet day, always seems more quiet when it is snowing. I used to love being outside at those times. So quiet and one can even hear the snow hitting the ground.  Hope your son got through that storm OK.

JANE  it turned to sleet here for several hours as it got dark. We have had so little snow so far this winter that yesterday's doubled it. Looks like we get no more of the normal snowfalls of a foot or more several times a winter. From the first of December we only had 3 inches of it.

JUNE  I think we are better if we keep moving. I know I sure do. If I cannot go outside I go downstairs to see who is around and always find someone.

LLOYD  hope you can get that fiberglass fixed soon and your taxes filed so you can get another trip in.

AMY  10 inches of snow? I think everyone here except our generation would panic to see that much at one time.

JANE  hope your registers are away from the door today.

Have a good day.

as usual a bad pinny returns Here I am but with a good tip for you ladies.
whether you bought your own flowers or your sweet heart did. if you have roses or other cut flowers. I bought Nancy a dozen red roses. take a quart of warm water, warm as you can stand as you would test on your wrist as you would for baby formula. put a teaspoon of sugar and a couple drops of bleach in it. cut the stems about 3/4" off of the bottom at a angle.put them in the solution , repeat every 2-3 days. that will make them last fresh for 2 -3 weeks longer. it is 28º and partly cloudy. Have a great day.

Hi Everyone.  It is a truly beautiful day here today with sun and breezy weather.  Yesterday we set a new high record for our area in our area of 80 degrees but it was rainy.  They predicted we would get some severe thunderstorms and while we had about an hour of rain late in the day I didn't hear any thunder.  I did get a good night of bed sleep last night, which always helps.  Scott came out and spend an hour or so with us and brought me some birthday cookies.  I have a light schedule for today with a friend coming at 10 am to work with me for an hour.  Sometime today my new Chromebook, computer-tablet is being delivered so I will be spending a little time getting it set up. Pat and Scott plan on going to the Wednesday night dinners at the Church and I will have a little piece of the dinner I had a couple of days ago at Diablos.

I won't have time to complete my posting for today   before my friend arrives but if not will be back later.

Gloria, this bad weather has to be a nightmare for schools since each day missed must be made up before the end of the school year.  Too bad you had to cancel your CNA for the reason you stated.  Too much chatter does get on a persons last nerve.

Amy, was glad to see your son had made it safely home.  Glad you have your wood stove so you can stay warm.

Shirley

2nd time I got up so will stay up this time, got my zzzzzzzzs in. Everyone sounds happy this morning, of course, some are being greedy about the snow.  :tissue: Weather guessers saying it will be warmer today & tomorrow but the bottom drops out overnight Thursday. I really would not complain (read my lips) if we got snow, but not much chance. I will drag the hose around again today to water those poor trees, shrubs and early flowers that are sticking their noses out of the ground, and hopefully wash the car. None of the do it yourself places are open. I don't remember them ever closing in the winter before.

You were right, Lloyd, it was too cold yesterday, I came in chilled to the bone. I think I mentioned that I have a little boo-boo on both sides of the back of my RV. One happened at the place I took it for work to be done (under warranty). I noticed a piece of red reflector laying by the back wheel but didn't even look to notice it was MINE. Saw someone riding around on a 4 wheeler that may have been the one that did it, but since it was laying where the RV was parked, nothing near they could have back into. Anyway, a neighbor pulled into the driveway & clipped the other side as he backed out. He did call & offer to have his insurance pay to fix, but I knew he had already had too many claims and might lose insurance, so let it go. I feel like putting a sign on both sides saying, "I didn't do it".  ;) I don't trust the cameras so have gotten out more than once to see for myself how far I am from something. The red "marker" light that was broken was hit hard enough to mess up the wiring & doesn't come on, but it's passenger side so just put a new red cover over & let it go, only paint damage shows. Sorry yours will need the fiberglass fix, hope you find a good one & paint matches!

Larry, glad to see you are doing a little better today & hope you feel stronger every day. My mother had a theory that when we didn't have an appetite we should eat what keeps the machine running and then stretch the tummy with something that sounds good (lots of ice cream?) so the tummy doesn't shrink & not get hungry. Made sense to us.   My sister & I were terrible eaters as kids so poor mother was always trying to bribe us to eat more. She had the three boys first & they ate everything in sight!

Gloria, you sound chipper this morning, wish I was there to see your snow... you & Amy!!! I do feel deprived. Maybe I should have mentioned Mom's theory to you before since you don't have an appetite. Might try it. Soup sounds good, I have cans of broth, both chicken & beef, that need to be used before expiration date. Have the heart of celery that I love in any kind of soup.... maybe potato, celery & onion.  Also bought some ham shanks to cook with a pot of pinto beans. I love those & freeze ZipLoc tubs to have later, but think I've used up my supply. I do enjoy eating, drives my friend nuts that I don't gain weight & she gains just listening to me tell about it.

Almost 10:00 so better get on with house work so I can get outside this afternoon. My yountest son is stopping by after he gets off work ... he is the neat one, never anything out of place in his room & now house. My little piles of stuff drives him nuts, not that he mentions but I can see it in his eyes.  ;)   My problem is when I put things away I forget where. Still looking for the charge cord & old battery for the GPS that I put away last week. I want to see if the old battery will charge with the new cord before throwing it away. I charged the new battery & so thrilled it whizzed right up with the new cord, I quickly put away the old parts. Know I didn't throw it away... what can I say, always looking for something.

CallieKat is laying over on the couch snoring so loud it's funny. She wanted out last night after their midnight snack & wasn't at the door when I went to bed so spent the night out. I know she has hidey holes to stay warm, but she is old & has been sleeping inside all winter. She was here for breakfast & not wanting out yet! They will go out in a couple hours & enjoy. Tom has been out & back in a couple times already, off to the basement where he sleeps on a double thick egg crate type mattress that came out of the Rialta. I had cut one of the twin mattresses in half for Andy's old dog the last trip she made to Colorado. He put a sleeping bag over the top for her & I'm saving for the next pet that needs it. Tom thinks I put it on the treadmill just for him.  ::)

Phyllis, KS doesn't have car inspections anymore!  Can't remember when they stopped, but I do remember it being a pain in the neck. I still have not gotten out to see if tail lights are on when "running" light are auto on. Lights are required when windshield wipers are needed during rain. I don't think they do come on so have been turning on headlights when raining to play safe... a law in KS that "wipers on, lights on" & I don't want a ticket.
