Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

Gloria

WOW I have just finished going over the last 5 pages to catch up here/ Wonderful creations from all of you.

ANGEL  great to see you back to PSP. I like what you do on your own. Always said I love your imagination. Glad you are taking lessons again to refresh your old PSP thoughts and experiments. Remember when you were using the arithmetic? That is something I never did grasp.

BUBBLE  wonderful as always, what else can I say about your work. Glad you are not alone holding down the fort.

PHYLLIS  so glad you signed up for Winni lessons. I did several of her different ones. Seems like a life time ago.

Now for my news. Got my tower back yesterday, they had to install a new other board. Grandson came last night to connect it. Great I am back to my favorite site. Bad news is that the PC will not accept my external drive and that is where all my PSP things are. Every thing. So until he can get back here to try and figure it out in a couple of weeks  no PSP for me. It felt so great getting busy in it again and now this. I sure do not know what to do except get in touch with HP for help. I know I cannot get down on the floor to get to the back of the tower and move things. I would have to call for help to get back up. So much for that. I can tell you I had a boring couple of weeks with no computer.

Keep up all the wonderful creations. Will be back to enjoy them and not before there are 5 pages of them either.

Gloria, it is so nice to see you back with us again! I felt so bad for you as I have been there more than once! I hope your grandson gets your external up and running soon! Yes, seeing Phyllis's creativity, classwork, and new enthusiasm got me to take and enjoy her class as well and it reminds me of when we were all doing steps together and helped each other out.

For Lesson #6, I didn't have a figure in a yellow outfit so I improvised and while not exactly right, the two graphic tubes are not jarring. First, I loved the masks and the colors produced in this lesson, they are beautiful on their own! Anyway, I did two rather than just one of the lesson. Which do you guys prefer?

Gloria, oh Gloria, at long last!  I was really starting to worry about you and am glad to see you back among us.

Of course the news about the external is distressing but I am sure it will soon be solved to your satisfaction, just requires a little more patience.

You were really missed here, you know? :)

Angel, wow, you have been busy!
I loved the rendition with the rose, very romantic effects. The sunlit forest too is great as is the sunset.
On the other hand the eyes on flowers were jarring (for me!) Too colorful maybe?

Very difficult to decide about lesson 6, they are both good. Maybe the first is more interesting as content: I was wondering what the man was looking at so intently!

It's such fun to come here these days and enjoy the "gallery"

PHYLLIS - are you not trying your own as well?   I would love to see!

I like the one with the couple better, Angel.  I agree that the yellow flowers are jarring but that is one of the elements that was given to us by the tutorial.  Your Sunset graphic is beautiful.  Like your "playing".

Not playing on my own much yet, Bubble.  Takes me a lot of time to do the tutorials that are necessary for the class.  And I have other house and family duties that take up my time, too.  I hope that someday I can get back to just playing.

So good to have you back, Gloria.  I'm sorry that you can't use your external drive.  I have two externals that Tom bought and I've never been able to use them with any confidence.  You mentioned somewhere else that maybe you should use "sticks" but would probably need several.  Some USB sticks now are capable of holding a whole lot of info.  I have a Cruiser USB that holds 32 G of info and there might be others that hold more.  I don't know how many  Gigs your PSP files are but you could probably put most of it on one or two sticks. EDIT: I just Googled and Best Buy has a PNY drive that holds 125 G for about $30.  That is a LOT of storage space and I would think you could put all of your PSP on it with room to spare.

Here is my Lesson 6 version.  I hunted and hunted for an image with a color that "sorta" went with the flowers.  This was as close as I could come.  Still, I was bothered by the flowers but since that was in the Supplies for the lesson I went ahead with it.  The use of different effects was more interesting to me, anyway.

When I cannot find a "dress" the color I need, I select the dress with the lasso tool and just colorise it the hue I want.

phyllis

I do that, too, Bubble, and have changed the color in a couple of the tuts but just let this one go on by.

First, Gloria, I moved my computer tower to a small folding  table that has sturdy lockable legs. The monitor, keyboard, and mouse, as well as modem, sit on another small table that is similar to a hospital table, only much, much sturdier,(probably originally home hospital equipment);  and the leg opening is nice to have.

The tower table sits next to the other lengthwise, but both are on the same level and the resulting cords are run through empty  paper towel tubes. It isn't pretty but it is utilitarian, works for me and I do not have to labor to get down nor crawl over to the couch to regain my feet!

Thanks, I too preferred the couple, so will send that one in. I kept remembering that there was a way to colorize but couldn't remember how. So thanks again, Phyllis and Bubble for coming to my aid. I also remember doing so much with the arithmetic function and now have no idea how that worked!

I use the "Book" brand of external drive that uses a USB port on both the PC and external drive.  Each one holds 3T. and costs, here about $100. to $105 each. but I purchased three separately over a ten year period. One is a mirror of my computer, one holds business items and  receipts and one holds all my photographs and PSP programs and PSP files.

I only connect it to my computer  and then unconnect when not in use. If left connected and a virus or malfunction occurs, I have lost everything. This way, it relieves memory on the computer, allows me to store what I need and if there is a PC needed repair, I am able to reinput programs and information easily after the repair.

I learned this after losing everything to a virus in 2004, having to wait three months for a local shop opening and then having to pay $85.00 an hour technician costs. However, that computer was a workhorse for the next eight years!

Phyllis, you have so much going on and other people living with you so it is hard, I realize for you to have time to play. But I know I and Bubble and Gloria are so happy that you find time for playing and share that with us! I have only myself and a stubborn cat still hiding under the bed.

My friends are more likely to run a computer intervention than to join me here. They are ones who "lunch" and play cards. I just resigned from three committees and do this, it's cheaper.  :coolsmiley:

Thanks for the comments on my "playing!" It is a way for me to relax and hopefully, remember and utilize what I've learned long after the classes.

Bubble, your City Girl, is wonderful! I love the model, the background and the way the colors and shades bring it together! Did you use Flaming Pear's flood effect?

Delicatesse, is another good one! How did you do the opening that the gold sets off so well? I would love to have that tut!

Maryse, I absolutely loved everything but the model. Notice how I employ that "If you can't, criticize or teach"); philosophy?  ::) The background reminds me of fractals.

RENACIENDO, is the same, great background work!

Sweet Spring has everything harmonizing together, lovely!

phyllis

Angel, you just blew my mind!  6 T!  That is 6 trillion bytes of usage!!!  You could store all of the computer files for all of Alaska on that!   :o  :o  :o

Bubble, I love Sweet Spring.  What a charming graphic that is.  The image, the colors, the effects are all just right.

I took some time to do the next lesson but haven't sent it in yet.  I'm a little tired of pouty, blank eyed young women that are put on every graphic in the Winni lessons.  Decided to do something different with this lesson and since the background effects give a futuristic look (IMO) I decided a Cityscape at Night would look good.

Actually, that is one T on each of the three external drives to make three t all together. If I had six, I could "rule" the world, Insert evil sounding laugh here.... 8)

I love your cityscape! I recently downloaded some cityscapes from Norah but since I use the books as well as Dropbox and One Drive, I can't find where I stuck them!

I not only am sick of odd looking or unsexy female tubes, I am also sick of male tubes without shirts on. I remember having that same male tube issue back in 2008 and 2009!

But then I realized I was getting older one year when I was still doing birthday and seasonal cards on this site. I was finding tubes of Santas to be sexy! LOL

phyllis

That is not quite as mind blowing as 6T but even 3T is an enormous amount of storage.  I learned today that Amazon sells 1T external drives for around 59.00.  And they make external drives up to 4T now!  What a world we live in!

I have One Drive and Dropbox and constantly lose downloaded files, too.  I just get in to too much of a hurry and don't look carefully at where they being sent.  Carelessness....AGAIN!

I suspect Bubble is asleep and I must go scare up some dinner for my son and me.  I think I'll give the computer, and my brain, a rest and shut it down.  Talk to you tomorrow.

Goodnight Phyllis. Bubble is twelve hours ahead of me so probably eight ahead of you? Maybe?  ???

Have a good evening.

I was always running out of room with those small storage drives so loved the large external drives and being somewhat rigid, wanted to keep them in related folders. It's the same reason I have three separate emails

Bubble, in regards to Lesson #6, you should know this. The woman is looking at the flowers and thinking of how she would do a better color,(Look at her expression!);  and the man, of course, is checking out the surroundings for any apparent danger....

Here is Wini Lesson #7

And finally for the day, Lesson #8

so_P_bubble

Late on the computer today:  I was tending, cleaning, watering my few indoor plants this morning.  They have been neglected and now with the good weather I want them to look good :)

Yes Angel, flood was used on that one.  I looked all over for the Delicatesse tut.  Can you believe it, ALL MY FILES for tuts done ( by 3 months each) have disappeared completely!  I had dozens and dozens of them from all those years and only the March 16 is there. I am stunned.  I don't know what happened. I do hope I have some on flash drives backups but I doubt...
What a loss!
I still have to reinstall the backup program (Cobian) for the external disk.  I didn't do it yet fr this new computer :(

Phyllis, Cityscape at Night  is  striking.  I love it!
Angel, lesson 8 is a keep!

I too am tired of those half naked women and shirtless men.  Can't we have normal people???
That is why I use many kids...

Good morning.....er......Good afternoon, Bubble.  Thank you for liking the Cityscape graphic.  I'm using more images of children, too, also more landscapes.  I'm really sorry you lost all of your tut files.  Can you do a system restore?  I don't know if it would work but might be worth a try.  And your loss is making me think of doing a backup before I lose everything, too.

Wish I could send you some of our many days of rain to water your balcony flowers.  It is really soggy around here but, at last, the sun is shining brightly this morning.  Tomorrow is Mother's Day in the US so I'm sending a good old American Happy Mother's Day to you.

And to Angel....Mother's Day must be bittersweet for you but I hope you have a good day and good memories of your daughter.

I saw your lessons come through the Group, Angel.  You're doing good.  I have 3 lessons ready to send in but since my Mod (BJ) has said that she doesn't work on the weekend I think I'll wait and send them in on Monday.

Must get some breakfast before it is time to eat lunch.  ;)

No restore possible since I am on a new computer and the old is totally unresponsive.
But I did find a flash drive stick with most backed on it.  Hurray!   Angel, check your mail!

The back ups I had on the external for the old computer refuses to work on the new one.  I'll have to find someone to look after that problem - it seems Chinese to me :(

I absolutely love Mayte Contiene! Where are you finding all these selections that frame? I love how you've done all of these!

Larga Espera, I do and I don't. The selection? The technical side I like, but the graphic overall I don't. If that makes any sense? At all?
