I had left a call back to Comcast for 11 am this morning to try and clear up the Mess. Thought I could be lucky and get US person. No luck. got of Shore. Hard time hearing. just got off after over a hour. They are so Polite but hard to understand. She says most not done by people off shore. She did find lots wrong coming up on mine. Special WIFi and the Modem connection. Anyway someone will show up in the morning see what is going on. I also did talk to Best Buys who have one there who works with Apple and so going to take IPad in tomorrow also. see if it is something can be done to open it up. I am not going to buy anymore Tech Stuff. Fact going to just us A desktop and maybe buy another IPad and that is it. Stay away from doing all the stuff that now everyone seems to be doing on their phones. I still have that new I phone sitting in the box. My Google acct. is messed up and needs to be working to work with that. All these companies are putting out so much and yet do not have any service centres other than in big cities and talking on line to them is crazy. Every one out of the USA. So many needing work here and yet thousand must be working for them overseas. :crazy2:

Sue. Can say something good about replacing things fast now. I remember years ago my fridge going out and took a week to get another one. Now take about 2 hours.   I keep thinking just anyday mine is going to go. Have to make sure I dont put food infront of the thing in the back of top shelf. It was dripping for awhile.  I have had a freezer running in the out door shed for a long time I don't keep a lot in it but at time Sure glad it was there. I will not buy a expensive fridge when my goes. Doubt I will be living here much longer. Hard now to get work done. Had service people 25 years but now need to replace such as yard man and Handy man and could do a lot myself. Not risking climbing anymore. Sue is the one that stopped me from doing that. :uglystupid2:
JeanneP

SharonE

Jeanne, you're right that there comes a time when living alone in a house with a yard is just too much.  I hope Comcast gets everything figured out for you.  The Geek Squad could also set up your I phone and transfer infor from your old phone.  Just be sure to bring passwords.

Sue, I'm confused--did AU win or lose. The game was too late for our paper or news.  The stats on the women coaches are really bad. They have dropped in # a tremendous amount.  I did see U Conn got beat!

Mary, they have special feeders that knock the squirrels off. We have a baffel on our post and I can reach the top of the shepherd's crook except for one feeder that is too heavy.  John does that one at least.

I just got back from church. Communion Sunday.  John was going to pass on bridge today, but he got drafted to be on a team by someone good, so he felt he couldn't turn them down, but I hate to go to church alone even though I know a lot of people and often sit with them.

Sue, glad you got to go to church today. I know you are dependent on Olyne's driving you there.

I've got the towels in the washer and have eaten, so probably won't do much more.  There's enough meatloaf left for dinner.
Have a blessed Sunday.

jane

Jeanne...I'd take that iphone to Best Buy, too, and have them transfer stuff from your old phone.

Sue...I was delighted ol' Geno lost...and I think I heard you yelling "HURRAH" all the way from Alabama.

Sharon...I'm glad you went on to church by yourself.  I know that's important to you...so good for you, Girlfriend!!

Mary...I enjoy my birdfeeders, but see that the squirrels have found a way to get to the suet basket I put on a shepherd's hook.  I can't find a baffle small enough for the shepherd's hooks.  I'll have to see if there's a bird shop in Cedar Rapids that might have those.

Alpiner...hope all is well in CA.

I guess we were both very tired last night...we both slept to 10:00 am!  We had a big breakfast and have been sitting in fam room with gas stove on and reading the Sunday paper.  We just filled Ray's pill boxes for the next two weeks, so that's done.

This afternoon now is just reading and listing to music on the tv...the music choices cable offers we enjoy.

Marilyn

Sharon Sue and Jeanne is it possible that you could   use a bigger font, I have to skip over most of what you write, too small for these old eyes and even for my new glasses.

SharonE

Marilyn, how's this? If it's still small, I'll increase it.
Yes, church is important to me.

Jane, I found a cone-shaped baffle at Lowes that fits over my shepherd's crook. It has a little nut that slides up under the baffle and can be tightened.I found out tonight that Millie's guardian in IA will drive her to and from the airport.  Whhat a blessing.[/size Gotta run. Sharon

maryz

That looked good, Sharon.  I use the #4 size.

Had a good Mexican dinner with Margaret tonight.  Watched the last of the Women's Final...a close Baylor win over Notre Dame.  Doctors' appointments coming up this week.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

Marilyn

Looks great Sherry, I use number 4 as well. I am going to have to see  the Orthopedist, my left shoulder is so painful and getting worse. Drat!! anyway, right before my trip. No gonna fix it yet and ruin my trip. I hope when I go to the Chiropractor this morning that  it will get fixed.

SCFSue

Good morning, Buddies.  I've changed my font this morning.  If this is too big or not big enough, please give me a shout out.  I can see that this would be helpful to some of us.

Olyne picked me up for church yesterday and when she dropped me off at home, Tim's friend Eddie drove up with another of his "elderly" ladies (they were also on their way home from church) and visited a while.  He was taking her to Kroger after our visit, so I went along with them as I needed milk and a few other items to last through the week.  Eddie is a nice man with a big heart.

I spent most of the day reading after I changed clothes and did my walk in the neighborhood.  On Saturday when I walked, I was amazed at the cars parked along the street behind me.  The estate sale was still on (an elderly gentleman had died recently) and there were cars parked outside for almost 4 blocks!

I need to get dressed, clean up the kitchen, etc. and probably won't walk until after Tim gets here to look through my paper work.

Jane, I was delighted that Geno lost!  He is the world's biggest braggart and it is finally time for someone else to win.  I wanted Notre Dame to win, though.

Our AU Tigers got a very warm welcome home yesterday.  Droves of people turned out at the Arena to cheer them on.  The player (whose name I've forgotten) who made the final foul that caused the loss was heartbroken.  I'm proud, though, of the run our guys had in the tournament.

Have a nice day, Every Buddy.  And let me know if I need to go down or up one on the font.

Sue

maryz

Marilyn, your orthopedist might give you a cortisone shot in your shoulder.  That could probably give you relief for a while - at least to get through the time of your trip.  I agree - you don't want that to interfere.  When are the dates again?

Sue, your font size looks great to me.

I've already been out to the dentist for my teeth-cleaning this morning.  No other problems, thankfully.  For all of my other problems, my teeth seem to be pretty good, so far.  It was pouring rain this morning.  I almost cancelled my appointment because I didn't want to drive in it.  Fortunately it slacked off by the time I needed to leave.  Coming home, I pulled over a couple of times because it was raining so hard.  Supposed to do that most of the day.

Happy Monday, Buddies!
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

SharonE

Marilyn, I was going to suggest a cortisone shot also. It sure helped my knee before my trip to FL.Glad the size of print is good now.  I'm going to a computer club meeting on "cloud usage" something I don't know much about.

Sue glad the school celebrated the team, if if they did lose.Eddie sounds like a God-Send.

Mary, good that your teeth are good. I have crowns on most of mine, so I don't have much trouble either.  It's supposed to storm here too, but so far hasn't.  Have a good day, everyone.  Sharon

Marilyn

Sue the print size is great.
I went to the chiropractor this morning,  I will see how that affects my are and shoulder after tyhe SAleve wears off.

jane

Evening, Buddies!  Beautiful day here...near 70, but to change drastically...measurable snow by Friday.   :tickedoff:

I got through the forms received in the mail, and downloaded my SS and two other tax forms.  My printer was acting up.  I had a new black cartridge in but it didn't want to print consistently.  I did all the maintenance and troubleshooting.  It would print one file fine, and then not the next one.

I don't know what has happened to my SS 1099.  I hate thinking someone else got it.

I still have to go through some other things, but I suspect it'll be a waste of time with the new tax law.

Big day tomorrow when we meet Ray's new oncologist.

SCFSue

Good morning, Buddies, although it is past 10:00!  I got up early as my cleaning ladies were scheduled for this morning, but they didn't get here until almost 10:00.  After they finished the cleaning and left, I was able to get my "walk around the block" finished.  I still have library books I haven't opened, so I have plenty to read for the rest of the week.  Eddie (Tim's friend who will be helping me with grocery shopping and other errands) will be here on Friday morning to take me to the library, Kroger, and any other place I need to go--although he took me to the bank last Friday and I won't need to go there for another week or so.

Mary, I'm still hanging on to my teeth, too!  I have several crowns and lots fillings, but no new work is needed other than twice annual cleanings.  I'm glad of that--and the hygienist who cleans my teeth does a good job.  Her boss, Dr. Martin, always comes in to say Hello, but his employees do most of the cleaning work.

Sharon, Eddie IS a God-send.  When I realized my fridge had died, he took me shopping for a new one--and the company I bought it from delivered it within an hour.  I had a terrible mess to clean out of the old fridge--I filled my trash cans to the brim!  He stopped by on Sunday after church with another one of his "ladies" and I went to Kroger with them.  I needed milk and orange juice to tide me over until Friday.

Marilyn, I hope your  trip to the chiropractor relieves your pain.  Do you have exercises to help strengthen the shoulder?

Jane, I hate paying the IRS, but it is inevitable!  I've already made one payment, paid my tax preparer, and mailed the first payment to the IRS.  So I'm okay for a couple of months.  I've had very good returns on my investments this year and that has prompted higher payments to the IRS.  I sure hope my payments aren't going to that WALL down on the Mexican border!  I hope you and Ray like the new oncologist and treatments go well.

Hello to Buddies looking in--and have a nice day, Every Buddy.
Sue

SharonE

Jane, I empathize with you on the printer/tax situaation.
We sent our forms and documents into our CPA at least a month ago and hadn't heard anything, so called today. They mailed it 5 days ago and we still haven't gotten it. If it doesn't arrive tomorrow, I'll call back and they will FedEx it.  It's getting close to deadline!  I hope Ray's appt with his new oncologist went well.

Sue, I hope you don't have to pay too much. We seldom do.

This AM, John and I went to our insurance office to take the AARP drivers course.  It will save us about 5% a year for 3 years. It actually was pretty good and worth the time. I just finished my half of the clothes folding. John did his earlier. Now I'm just relaxing.

Hi to all and have a nice rest of the day.

JeanneP

Well I just wrote the longest post in here giving all my news on Tech Problems. Just ready to hit post and the page just quivered and vanished. This is the third time this has happened to me past few weeks on S and F.  Will do it again tomorrow if not busy. How I hate that to happen as I don't get in a whole lot anymore for other than reading the postings. Seem like they give you so much time and if doing long ones they just cut you off.
JeanneP

JeanneP

JeanneP

so_P_bubble

Jeanne, S@F never cuts you off because you take too long in a post.
A few times I have typed a post and forgot to hit "post", or went to answer the phone and forgot the written message. Coming back after half hour or more it was still there to post. At times it advised me someone else had made a post, if case I wanted to revise what I still had there waiting.

maryz

Jeanne, somebody once said that if you lost a post to hit Control z, and it would come back.  I've done that, and it worked - most of the time.  You could give that a try, if it happens again.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

Good morning, Every Buddy.  It's a bright, sunshiny day here in Auburn.  I have bridge this afternoon and Terri will pick me up about 12:45 to go out to Carolyn's.  I will probably do a load of wash this morning and walk around the block before getting into the shower and dressing for bridge.  Not much else going on here today.

Jeanne, I'm sorry about the tech problems.  I hope you can get it straightened out today.  I find it very frustrating when something like that shows up on my computer.  I only post in a very few places here and hope I don't get into a mess with posting!

Sharon, my accountant has completed my tax stuff and I've already paid my first quarterly payment.  Also paid her--and of course because of the increase in my investments and her additional work, I've paid her more than the usual fee.  She does a really good job of filing for me and also helps out with advice, so I appreciate it.

I hope all the Buddies looking in are having a good day.  Jane, have you and Ray seen the new oncologist since getting home?  I hope the oncologist has turned out to be a good one who listens well and has good advice.  Keep us posted.

Have a nice day, Every Buddy. (P.S.  Hi Mary!  You must have been posting while I was writing)

I took Bunny in for her annual check-up this AM. Don't know anything yet. They will call me when the lab results are in. Her weight was 14.5 which is about where they want her.

The mail hasn't come yet, so still don't know if our taxes will be in the mail today.

I've been hurting a lot today. Not sure why.  Probably all the rain we've had.

Hope all is well with everyone.  We haven't heard from Joy for a while. Check in please.                  Sharon

JeanneP

Going to try again. If it vanishes I quit.
Well Comcast did come Monday after 3 days of everything being down. Even the TV gone. He was here at least a hour. Problem was that the cable outside had been cut. For awhile the Water company have been digging at the side of my yard. Flags still up. So was them that cut it. I had spent at least 5 hours on the phone with Comcast Off shore as usual. If I could reach a good person here in US I would fight for Credit. Even the service man says all is done overseas now.
Then I took my Ipad over to Best Buys. Great guy helped me. He spent a hour also. Had to reopen a new acct. with Apple. But he got it up and running again. He also looked at the new phone and worked on it but I have to call them. Guess it has to have Google acct. on it.   Going to hit post on this and continue on another just incase crashes

I am back.I had to take the Google off the IPad so no Email on it for Gmail. Also for some reason it will not change  to  Horizontal. I like it for breadth. Can't remember where to look in order to put that right.  Jane may know or I will give Apple a call.  They don't give you to much service now. Few minutes and have to switch you over to a $5 charge.

It was 73 deg here yesterday but today really dreary and much colder. Fact furnace back running.
I need to start working on learning things about the new car. Feel like a begging driver on it. So many bells and whistles. For sure I never want to try a Electric drive itself one. They must really be technical. Why can't we go back to the old days so much simpler . Maybe its me getting to old to learn new trick.
You all seem to be getting some Medical done along with paying taxes. One thing I don't have to do anymore.Making very little interest on anything. I really need to work on at least taking out of bank and buying some CD again. One ba nk here paying 2.75% for a 11 month ones. Better than the 0.1 most bank paying on MM.

well don't know what happened to my post...so will do a shorter version....Jeanne I know how frustrating technology can be...My computer crashed...not going to replace it right now...just use my phone and IPad....what kind of car did you get?..Jane..you will be glad y'all aren't still in Texas...was 96 today and humid....supposed to be cooler this weekend....We are having a revival at our church...have really enjoyed going....tonight is last night....Hi to all looking in....have a good rest of evening

JeanneP

Just checking time here on bottom of desktop it is 5.55 pm. I remember waking up this morning an checking clock. It was 5.55am. Wonder if that is telling me something.. Wish I knew what. :uglystupid2:

Jeanne, glad you've gotten some of your devices working again.  The time showing on my posts here isn't even close to the real time.

Sue, hope you had some good cards today.

jane, hope you're not getting too much bad weather from the latest storm.

Sharon, I'm sure this weather has been "helping" your pain increase.  :(

Darlene, glad I'm not in TX - I hate it when it gets that hot.

Today was beautiful here, if you like temps in the 80s.  Still a lovely spring day.  I didn't have to go anywhere or do anything, so I just enjoyed looking at it.  The pollen count has been incredible.  It was 200+ yesterday and 3500+ today, and predicted to be higher tomorrow with lots of wind.  Awful!

Hope everybody has had a good day!
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

SCFSue

Good morning, Buddies.  I've had breakfast and cleaned up the kitchen, but I'm not dressed yet.  I will do that next and get my morning walk in and then decide what I'll do the rest of the day.  I have an interesting book I started yesterday, so will read some more, but also need to do some laundry.  I also need to call Eddie, Tim's friend who will be helping me with grocery shopping and other errands and see what his schedule is for tomorrow and Saturday.  I need to make a trip to Kroger!

Mary, we had a high pollen count yesterday, too, and I am sniffing and blowing my nose a lot this morning.  When I go for my morning walk, I'll have to take extra tissues with me.  Our temperature was nice yesterday, not too hot and good for being outside.

Jeanne, that IS a mystery.  Had you reset your clock recently?  Maybe it will come to you later on--I often have those little ticks of things I've forgotten!

Good grief, Darlene!  96* and high humidity!  I hope your AC is working well.  So far I haven't had to turn my AC on.  I'm sorry about the computer crash--I use mine every day and although I don't respond to many posts in other forums, I especially love hearing from all you Buddies.

Sharon, I've already paid the first of 4 payments to the IRS  and have 3 more left to go.  My accountant raised her price this year because of all the stuff I had coming in.  She's done a great job all the years I've had her, so I'm OK with the price change.

I need to get dressed and out for my morning walk before it gets too hot.  Have a nice day, Every Buddy.  Jane, I hope all is well with you and Ray.

Sue

maryz

I've been out and done errands.  I've been to the UPS store and sent a package to my granddaughter, picked up my Walmart order, and gone to Aldi.  My car was covered in the yellow-green scourge (pollen), and I had to use the wipers to clear off the windshield.  I showered before I left, but probably should have waited until after I got home.  Nasty stuff!  I'll get the car washed when the season is over (definitely not before).

Bridge tonight here at the Terrace, but otherwise, nothing else today.   :)

Happy Thursday, Buddies!
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

Marilyn

Good morning Freckles and I are going to work at the  care facility   close to  home in just a litle bit. It always goes pretty fast there as most of the patients are sleeping.

I took the supplies over to Madison school for next weeks Furry friends school program. I am teaching the morning classes.

The caregiver is here today and she went with me to carry in the box of coloring books that we hand out to the kids K-2.

Yesterday was the final class  for taking care of the Caregiver etc. So that takes care of  Wednesday afternoon being busy.

SharonE

Jeanne, I, too, am glad you got some of your devices up and running. I also want to know what kind of car you got.  If it is a Honda, when John got his last car, he tried it out and decided it had too many bells and whistles for him.  I really think some of them would have helped him, but he is a technophobe.

Mary, my car is covered with pollen too. John left his out overnight a couple nights ago when it was raining.

Darlene, that's too hot for me. Glad you enjoyed the revival.

Marilyn, sounds like you made good use of the caregiver today by getting out and about.  You know, every Thursday when I grocery shop, I see a man that is a dead ringer for Keith. I almost said Hi to him one day without thinking.  Odd.

Belks had an ad for a Walcoal bra fitting with donations to the Komen foundation. Naturally, I thought the bras were mastectomy bras. IFortunately, I called to make an appt and thought to ask. No they were regular bras! I was already dressed up enough to go to Pineville!  GRRRR!  So I discarded that plan and  went to the grocery and also dropped a fecal sample by the Vets since I had forgotten it yesterday.  I'll just do odds and ends this afteroon.
