Patricia, I was in the cathedral many years ago. I hope they can save the Rose window.

Jackie, I am so sorry for your loss.

Patricia, the day I came home from the hospital, I thought I had grown more hair, I put my hand upon my head, I felt a lot of hair, guess who was sleeping on the top of my pillow.

Jenny, glad your neck feels better. I have use those aspirin
 wraps.

Mary Ann, I had a Plymouth Sundance for 18 years, which I loved When Cyriel died I had his car a chev. Malibu so I donated my car

Jackie, I hope you can get the help you need.  Having MS is bad enough without going through additional heartache.  Thinking of you and sending some good thoughts your way.

We are on our second Toyota.  We had a Matrix for a few years and traded it in for a Camry 3 1/2 years ago.  We are very happy with it.  The big Toyota plant in Kentucky makes Camry cars.  So I guess you could say we own an American made car. 😁

We had another beautiful day today.  There was a squirrel on the fence close to the bluebird house and Mr. Bluebird dived at him sent him running.  So Mrs. Bluebird must be busy laying her eggs and he is watching out for her.  Time for me to say Goodnight and head to bed.

Gloria D ( Lindancer ) thank you...I have been very touched by the friends I have on here...I have told people that I would now be totally lost if the computer goes down, I need this communication, this is what is keeping me sane...

Been on the scales again, lost 8 lbs now...me and Richard each Sunday would weigh ourselves almost as if we were in competition with each other, yes I always told him that once we become ill, or go into hospital, I never said anything about the shock-aftershock of losing someone, but I said dont worry too much about our weight now because if any one of those hits us then our weight would just fall off...I know that to be true because I lost weight when my father died, and I am sure the same thing after my mother died..

This has been real tough, this is when I envy families, the family rallies round with what needs doing, organising things, takes over..I was always frightened when I thought I could find myself in this place, this situation which had been plaguing on mind these last few months..well now those thoughts have turned into my reality and I know I have to get through this, yes one step at a time...then there will be the clearing out, the taking over of the bills-the responsibility of running and maintaining this home, then the process of moving, the preparing-cleaning out the home the shed which I have never even stepped into, spiders...The self arranging of putting myself into a care home, I cant see any other option, this all just terrifies me...

You see, I had always thought and believed I would go before Richard, I had made him promise to scatter the three dogs ashes with mine, and I want my ashes to be scattered amongst trees and birds somewhere back home, who is going to do that now? Now I am even not sure If I want my ashes scattered with his but I doubt if his family would want that as his ashes will be near to his parents and brother...

Vanilla-Jackie

I'm off again, crying, just washing a few things up and making my cup of tea and talking to myself to Richard that I know he wouldn't have left me, he always felt it was his DUTY..that was how loyal he was to me...

MarsGal

I was working on my Latin lessons when one of the gals posted that Notre Dame was burning. That kind of took care of whatever I was going to do the rest of the day. I was glued to the live feeds. Just horrible. I didn't realize so much of the structure itself was wood. The Rose Window is gone along with so much else.

The Marine City Cam has picked up lots of traffic the last several days. Yesterday I finally decided to start writing down the ships I that I can see the names. So far, I have Minomee and Mantowoc, both under the Canadian flag. There was an American something but I forgot what the last part of the name is, which is why I started to write them down. I haven't looked the other two up yet. There are now lots of fishing boats and skiffs on the water now, and I am starting to see people walk along the waterfront. The pinks, oranges, and yellows of the clouds at sunrise was pretty this morning.

I plan on mowing the front yard a little later today. The grass is not very high, but those doggone wild onions are. Everytime I pull or dig those things out, more grow back.I may decide to do some weeding too. Saturday I went to Home Depot and bought 10 bags of top soil to fill in the depressions in the yard. I seem to find more each year and some of the older ones have gotten bigger.

Hi Everyone.  For the second day we have clear skies with a high expected of about 75 this afternoon. I was really embarrassed this morning as have it in my mind that today was my appointment for the ultra sound.  When I looked at the paperwork this morning is saw that it is next week just as my calendar right in front of me shows as well.  I had gotten up early and was all ready to go and was ready to fast this morning before having blood drawn after the test.  Fortunately there was no harm done as we didn't make a wasted trip.  Today is the day to fill my medicine boxes for the next two weeks and will have to order some medicines also.  I did empty the top shelf of the dishwasher this morning and also folded a load of clothing.  I think that is my limit for today. I had a good day yesterday and I think today is also going to be a good.

Interesting postings from yesterday and this morning.  I have let the time get away from me so I am just going to check in today.

Mary Ann

Larry, I don't know about emptying the dishwasher, but I am sure you can fold clothes sitting down. It still takes energy to do that too, but sitting down is easier.

MarsGal, I have seen the Manitowoc but the Minomee is not a familiar name for the ships that are on the Great Lakes.  I wonder if it is a "local" boat.  This morning when I went to the Marine City site, I found two men fishing.  A few minutes ago, the scene was as I usually see it but no ship.

I'm beautiful for the day because I got my hair cut this morning.  My stylist is learning how to cut my hair after a year, maybe two years.  I don't help it a bit by sleeping on my left side and losing any curl or wave on that side.  This arrangement should last at least through Thursday when I have my picture taken for the new church directory.

We are having a light rain this morning and our temp is about 40 degrees so we should not have snow.  April showers -----.

Tom has a teaching job today which will help his finances after his car repair.  I think he said he had at least two more jobs this week and is booked through the end of the month.  He is happy he doesn't have to go out for recess today.  All schools do not have recess now.

Marilyne

Good morning everyone:
MarsGal - I did the same thing you did yesterday - sat down in front of the TV, and watched Notre Dame Cathedral, as hundreds of firefighters worked to try to save it. The people of Paris, gathering quietly together to mourn the loss, was a sad sight in itself.

Patricia - Thank you for posting the picture yesterday.  If I hadn't seen it, I would have gone about my usual business, and likely wouldn't have known about Notre Dame, until the evening news here at 5:00 pm. I haven't seen the paper yet this morning, so I don't know if they have yet found how the fire started?

Jackie - Not having any family to help you at this time, makes the loss of Richard, all the more difficult.  I'm hoping you hear from your daughter, and that she will be kind and caring, even though she may be unable to come to you.  It sounds like you are starting to get organized, and you will eventually get everything done. I'm glad that you're getting some support from your neighbors.

Mary Ann - I'm going to be home most of the day, and hope to see my first ship so far this season,  at the canal, or the Soo, or maybe on the St. Clair River?   So far I haven't been in the right place at the right time, but I know I have plenty of months ahead to see them all!

Jenny - I'm glad your neck was feeling better yesterday, and hope that the pain is gone this morning.  Chemo #3 will probably be especially hard for Michele, today.  I'm so glad that you and Bob are there to help with the children, and try to keep their lives as normal as possible.  I'll be looking to see a post from you later today, as to how she is doing?

Gloria de - sounds like you're feeling a little better? I hope your nephew gets there soon, so that he can keep a close watch over you.  We will all be thinking about you here in S&F.

wjoan

LARRY, hope you are feeling better.  Good to see your post.

MarsGal

Here is the Minomee, Mary Ann, It appears that it was just renamed in 2017 from the Lewis J. Kuber. It seems a nice looking ship for one so old. http://www.boatnerd.com/pictures/fleet/Menominee.htm
I had a lot of trouble making out the name at first because it was coming head on to the web cam. I think I saw five the last three days, but I didn't see any early this morning. Last evening there was a line of about six boats fishing off one area of the waterfront.

This morning I watched what looked like someone on one of those jet ski things cross over from Molde pier toward one of the islands; it went barreling through the wake of a small boat, making a big splash/spray. It didn't seem to slow him down a bit. I kept just missing the ferries last night and this morning. They sure do move fast. During the day, the web swings between the airport and the ferry landing. It doesn't take that long, but one of those ferries can be mostly off loaded and loaded again before the camera swings back. This morning were three ferries in sight. One leaving, one just docking, and one standing off waiting to dock.

After I finished mowing the front lawn, I decided to go again and mow down the wild onion patch taking over in the back. I was appalled to see that the ground ivy has spread so far over into the yard. That stuff sure likes the rainy weather, and the fall was fairly warm this year.My hyacinths and vinca are blooming now.

angelface555

Good morning all from the Interior where we're awaiuting the budding out of greenery.

Farrah is very affectionate again today. She's gone to jumping up on my keyboard to show I've been amiss in her attention!

MarsGal, I asked before and am still wondering about MOLDE? All Google shows is a Cam of a Norwegian city port.

Marilyne, to the Parisians, while the structure is sound, so much history has been lost, and it was quite a blow as the comments and video showed on the net.

Mary Ann

I remarked to Tom that Paris would not rebuild with wood and he said fire retardants today are much more effective than what they put on centuries ago.  I read where it could take 40 years to rebuild and it took over 200 to build the church originally.  I won't be here to see it!

MarsGal, thanks for the information on the Menominee, which I see is the Michigan city.  There also is one in Wisconsin, spelled a bit different.  I can see why I was unfamiliar with the name because the ship has had several names and none of them ring a bell!  Maybe now I will see it in either the Soo or Duluth.  I really have only been watching the two places a year but I had looked in at Duluth occasionally.

Marilyn, I hope you saw a ship or two today.  I saw Paul come in but was it today or yesterday?  Having a 9:15 am hair appointment sure goofs up my morning and thoughts so I do things in different order than usual.  I did see two ships in early afternoon.

At the hair salon someone had placed a hyacinth on a table in the reception area and it was still in good shape.

Mary Ann

Marilyne

Mary Ann - I just spent almost an hour watching the Marine City Cam.  Lots of boats this afternoon.  As soon as one would go by another would appear.  At one time there there three out there at the same time, when they showed a long shot.  I first saw, the Philip R Clarke, then after a short while, came a huge one, but I never could see the name. The final one I saw up close, was named the Hanse Gate.   A whole different perspective on that cam, with different ships.  Also, they have a live chat going on the the right of the screen.  I asked a question, and got an immediate answer, but I guess I'm too new of a watcher to understand what the person meant?  I was wondering about the name of a ship I couldn't see, and the person told me where to find the schedule, but I couldn't find it?

angelface555

Marilyne, here is the link to the boat schedule at the MC Cam;

MaryTX

Marilyne, I keep a second window for Marine City open most of the time and when I am off the computer, I click it on full screen. I can glance on the screen when I walk by and see if anything is coming by.  There are probably seven or eight ships come by during the day.  Many are our favorites from Duluth and have seen several new ones to me.

www.marinetraffic.com shows where ships are all over the world.  My screen comes up automatically to the Duluth area.  By moving the screen to the left, you can see Sault Ste Marie.  Move it down towards Detroit, increase the size and you will see the St Clair River and Marine City. The chat feature is nice also and I have learned quite a bit from them.

Mary Ann

Marilyn, I'll have to watch that cam more often.  I do watch it daily, but not for a long time.  I enjoy watching the view move.

Patricia, thanks for the link.

Mary Ann

Marilyne

Patricia - That link takes me to the Marine Traffic map?  I thought there was a separate Marine City listing of boats to be passing, like the schedule shown for the Duluth Canal?

Mary Ann

You ladies are beating me at my own game.  I've watched the Marine City cam off and on, but not regularly or often.  I'll have to do better.

I can tell you right now that there are four ships headed for Marine City, but at intervals.  One, American Spirit, is in the Soo channel now.  I think two have gone through, or if only one, there are two coming after the American Spirit.

Mary Ann

angelface555

Marilyne, that link was sent because of your request and from a cam moderater and that's all I know.

Had I guess 5 or 6 hours sleep, still sleeping in my clothes, maybe I get frightened once I lock both doors, front and back...And yes I have had another cry, well if its not enough losing Richard, Vauxhall are coming to take his car back today, haven't been given any time just told any time between 9am and 6pm, think that's what i was told by his sister, and lady who I was told would like Toby is coming to see me today, so I will soon have lost Richard, the car and the dog, nothing else to take from me now is there?

Oh and as yet I haven't heard from my daughter...I also found the number of my half sister, phoned her the sad news and asked her if she would send her email, so far I have not seen it, but I still live in hope, from both of them...Oh well, family is what one needs at a time like this, and I am not too sure if I am an outsider with Richards family, even though I am in daily communication with his sister...

When I first phoned his sister and she told me they were coming to see me, I assumed more or less straight away, now I am thinking that when she said it wont be for at least two weeks, I am now thinking this will also be put back, and they will come over just for the funeral whenever that takes place, I cant see her making two journeys over here, too far to travel..

Oh and the computer printer inks have run out, I have the new ones here but have no clue as to how to put them in, yesterday i dragged out the only photo I can find of Richard, ( at least he looks happy in it, even if it is an old photo, ) and tried cropping it from the rest of his Vauxhall colleges then found when I tried to print a photo the colour has run out, the funeral director is coming to see me at my home tomorrow and I haven't got a photo of Richard to show him nor for when the funeral takes place to be printed on the service pamphlet....I have never had to arrange a funeral before, this will be my first and I truly hope will be my last, I dont ever want to go through this again....Is there light at the end of that tunnel..

Denver

Running late again tonight. This has been a rather stressful day.

My neck is better each day, so I am very thankful for this, and I thank all of you who have been thinking and asking me about this.

Michele had a rough day today.  Each day after chemo has brought on different effects for the day after.  This afternoon there was a lock down of all of the children's schools due to a woman from Florida that flew in to Denver, purchasing a pump action shotgun and ammo, then threating  schools in the Denver Metro Area.  She has been known to have a infatuation with the Columbine Massacre.  The 20 year anniversary of this occurrence is the 20th.  School districts are meeting to decide if the schools should all be shut down until she is apprehended.  We were at our granddaughters school for pickup and she did not come out.....no one came out, and we had no idea what was going on.  Michele was getting all kinds of texts and emails from the school district telling of the lock down and then that parents would have to come to the school to sign out their children.  Kate was released to her GrandBob and we got her home safely.  So very sad what we have to deal with these days at our schools.

SHIRLEY, if you come in during the night you are in my thoughts and prayers tonight.  I know you will be so glad to have  your heart procedure over and done.  Hugs to you. 💞💞

JACKIE, things are happening very quickly now, and it must seem that there is nothing left.  I hope the lady that is interest in Toby did come and made a good impression.  I know you will not let him go unless you feel it is a good family that is taking him.  Seeing the car go must have been very hard for you, and I am so sorry.  I do hope your sister and your daughter will step up and be there for you soon.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Jenny, no, half sister and daughter both live too far, (in opposite corners) my daughter doesn't even drive so I know she wont be over, and my half sister has MS too, and she also told me her hubby has cancer so she is dealing with her own issues too...

And as for where I live, I can count 4 dedicated people on site who have been rallying around to help me, three dog walkers, which one is helping me the most Mark, (ex navy and army) and the lovely lady Liz (nurse) who is helping me the most with the things that need doing after death.....

Vanilla-Jackie

#13043
I am just so so stressed, been trying to find out how to put printer ink cartridges in,I even looked up youtube but he clicked something that pulled it out, I have nothing and I remember Richard having to get down on the floor, I cant even do that, he had to fumble at it placing the cartridges in was so far back...I asked Nigel one of my 3 volunteer Toby dog walkers when he came to collect if he knew how to do it he said no, he does live down the bottom not far from out parkhome manager so I have asked him what time does he get up, ( i do have his phone number, just dont want to ring too early if he is still in bed, ) he said he thinks its in an hours time, so I asked him if possible could he ask him if he sees him, if he could do it or if he knew anyone else on our site who knows how to do it..As i said, tomorrow morning the funeral director is coming early to my home, and I want a photo of Richard to show him, which I dug out late last night and played around with it by cropping it...seems like nothing is going my way, and everything is packing up on me, if it is going to give me complications it will...Even my email has changed to a new format when I came into it this morning, ( they gave no warning ) something else I now have to get my head around..

Edited, just phoned and spoken our parkhome manager, said he will pop round lunchtime to take a look at the computer ink cartridges...

Vanilla-Jackie

#13044
You know that when everything is happening or going to happen at the same time, how stressed one gets when you are waiting on someone and you just want to get it over with...Well the Vauxhall company phoned to say one hour he will be here to take the car back, with just a few minutes to go the coroners office phone me, their report is back, of course I couldn't take it all in over the telephone and already stressed that I have to get myself and my rollator out the back, up those concrete steps o the car, then the lay who is coming to see about Toby hasnt come yet, I thought if she comes now how am I going to cope with 3 or 4 things all happen together, then the parkhome man came when the Vauxhall man was still checking over the car, so i Marks wife across the way who said she will pop over and supervise the Vauxhall guy, then our parkhome manager was here trying to put in the new black and white inks into the printer only to realise they are not the correct ones, so he said he is going out anyway and knows what to get and will be back to finish the job, he knows how stressed I am wanting those ink cartridges in in time to print te photo of Richard so I can show it to the funeral director when he comes to my home tomorrow morning...
Forgot to mention the Vauxhall guy phoned again after he told me one hour then said it would take another half hour, I just wanted him to get here and take the car, just caused me more stress...Apparently he did travel all the way from Luton-Dunstable Bedfordshire to take it back..

MarsGal

Sorry, Patricia, I missed your post about Molde. I just set you a message before I saw your second question here. So, I am posting it again, here, for you and anyone else who is interested.
QuoteI discovered that during the day the webcam swings, but at night they fix it on the ferry landing area. That is kind of unfortunate if you are looking for ferry activity where you can see three ferries in the area, either coming, going or waiting to dock, especially during the mid-day hours. So, during the day you get to see the beautiful scenery across the fjord, but miss or only see a part of the ferry activity because the cam does not stay long on the port. At night, with the camera fixed in position, I only see a ferry come in around once an hour on the quarter to half hour. Not much goes on late at night. It is a shame they don't hold the day cam on the ferry landing a little longer. Last night, late, I got to see a helicopter come in and land where I believe the hospital is. The hospital must not have a roof pad, so all I saw was the copter lights sinking down between buildings. This morning, early here, I saw, in the distance, a cargo ship out on the fjord. I have yet to see an airplane take off or land at the little airport runway.

It sounds like you are having a very busy day, Jackie. I am glad the manager is able to help with your printer.

It is cloudy this morning and was a bit drizzly earlier. I think it is supposed to be like this off and on all day.

Carrie and Tushar will be married in Singapore this weekend. The festivities start on the 20th. Mike (Carrie's Dad) is already there. I am not sure if Erik (brother) and his partner are there yet. Katie (sister) and her friend made it there yet, but it isn't for lack of trying. When the two of them went to board for their flight, they were denied. It appears, unbeknownst to them, that many countries, including Singapore, will not allow entry to anyone with less than six months left before their passports expire. So the rush was on to get passport renewals expedited and change of flight, etc. taken care of. This cost them both an extra $700 altogether, partly because the flight cost increase.

Barb (Mom) didn't go because her back is still not in great shape after the surgery. She is scheduled for another MRI to see why the surgery, while it did improve her pain, didn't improve it as much as expected. Sorry to say, I am not surprised. I cannot tell you how often I have heard people who have undergone back surgery say they ended up with two or tree more surgeries and still not be much improved.

Joy

Good morning.  Just checking in to say Hi !

Jackie,  All you can do right now, is to take some deep breaths,  and just take one minute, or one hour at a time.  Everything will come into place, but you have  to just relax and take your time.  You don't have to rush.  The people coming t help you can see that you have trouble getting around, and they can wait until you make your way to where you have to go.  Rushing will just make things so much harder. Just remember to take some deep breaths now and then.  That does help !!!!

It sounds like you are getting some help, so just take advantage of that and don't be afraid to ask for what you need.

I still cannot get into the site for the Soo Locks.  It just shows up as a black screen.  And, these other sites you all are looking at, I can't  get into any of them either.  I think it might be my browser needs upgrading.  But, I am content with the Duluth cams.

I slept in a little later this morning and still need to get some breakfast.  Not sure what the day will bring.

I have been thinking of Shirley this morning.  I think today is the day for her procedure and I am sure she will be fine.  She is a strong gal.

Hope everyone else is doing well and will have a good day.

Jackie, it seems it doesn't rain but what it pours and everything is due at the same time.  I won't give you more advice because you're already getting good advice.  I will say - take things  one at a time.

Joy, send me the link you have for the Soo and I'll compare it with mine.

I started off this morning with the Soo and a ship was going through.  I think it was the Presque Isle. Nothing was going on in Duluth so I went to Marine City and there in the center of the screen was the American Courage.  The camera followed it until it went around a bend behind some trees.  There were a couple of fishermen who watched the ship for a long time.  I haven't figured how long a ship takes to get from the Soo to Marine City, but it is not a short distance.

It was foggy on the St Clair River and it was like a depth of focus on a picture; the ship was highlighted and the background was almost not there.

Hi Everyone.  I am just going to check in for today as am very weary.  The last two or three days has caught up with me so will just take it easy the rest of the day with extra rest.  I have read all of the postings since I posted yesterday.

Hi Larry, thanks for checking in.  Take it easy today - as if you had a choice!
