Another big ship being pushed by a tug(?) on the st. Clair.  I also looked at the train.  I did put a couple of things in the CHAT.  I wanted to say Hi, Mary Ann and Hi, Marilyne, but didn't know if that is allowed.

angelface555

Mary Ann

Jean FellerMichael. I saw the train. Supposed to be the first one?
Thomas CoreyI am assuming they are going a little slower than normal due to the high water levels. I might be wrong
GennyFire on Fawn Island?
Michael SmithI think so @Jean Feller. Apparently it visits a factory somewhere up there.

Jean, is the above YOU?

One of the women mentioned the Port Huron site as if it was up and running, but no one else did.  I do have a site, but it is not Live Stream; it is just Live!

I'll keep watching to see what I can learn.

I was going to make a screen copy of how my screen shows, but in "full screen", I could not.  But you're right, my "chat" is below the screen.  It may make a difference that I am on a PC and others on a Mac.

WOW!  Patricia, that is a great site.  I have enjoyed it so much.  Since I found the Port Huron cam, I have wondered about the building with the tower.  My magnifying glass did not pick up the letters.  Today the camera went close enough for me to find out it is a Casino.  And someone asked in "chat" so that verified it.

I want to alert Marilyn that Paul is on his/her way up and will go through the Port Huron area soon.

Mary Ann

Marilyne

Patricia - I like that Port Huron Cam.  It's a picturesque site, what with the ships going under the bridge, and all the people walking around or sitting in that little park.  Seems that nobody pays any attention to the ships!

Mary Ann - I saw your message in to time to catch Paul, just as he/she was going under the bridge.  I do like that the Port Huron and Marine City cams are being manned during the day, so we can look forward to close-ups of the ships, as well as different angles. The camera person moved in really close to Paul, and I got a good look at a number of people on board.

CallieOK

Well, piffle!

I've been playing around with the Marine City cam on my pc and my Tablet.  I can get the cam stream on my Tablet but no chat.  PC shows the chat at the side but cam screen says "your browser is not set up to (show this)".
I'd rather see the ships so will do without the chat.

Mary Ann,  I'm giggling at your interpretation of my vacuum/microwave situation.  ;D  Both places are a "straight shoot" along the street where I live.  Vacuum repair shop comes before the appliance store where the microwaves are so I would logically stop there first. However, the appliance store also sells vacuums so I suppose that, if that can't be repaired, I could get both at the same place.

Patricia,  thanks for the Port Huron link.  I get the same thing as with the Marine City situation but will enjoy seeing the ships come into a different port.

Jenny,  I'm delighted that you found your Dad in such good spirits and receiving such good care. I hope things work out as well for his continued care.

Marilyne,  I'd gladly send you some of our rain if I could just reverse the prevailing winds around here.  Last summer, we were having huge grass fires on the ranch and wheat areas.  This year, the wheat farmers are worried about their harvest and the ranchers about their hay supply because of too much water.
Also last year, the rivers and big lakes were low on water.  This year, houses are falling into the rivers because of the banks collapsing and most of the recreational lake campgrounds and boating facilities are closed because of high water.
"Tain't one thing; it's t'other".

Today has been a productive morning and a "leisurely" afternoon.  Busy days coming up so I probably need to do a bit of "organizing".

Mary Ann, that was me.

Callie, I could get the chat by going to the you tube site on my iPad

Jean, I thought there would not be too many Jean Fellers, unless it would be Bob's wife and I don't know what her name is or was (is he still living?  I was a baseball fan in those days).

I spent so much time in Port Huron today, I thought I'd better let it rest, but now I've finished supper and my TV viewing is over, so I may go back.  I have not been to Port Huron in many years and then it may have been only to go to Canada, so the views are very interesting to me.  I am impressed at how clean it is in the area and how nice for the people to drive to the side of the river to view the ships.  The big expanse of water is Lake Huron.

Mary Ann

Beverly

Wasn't sure I was on the right site!  :)  First thing I saw was a chat with people I don't know. I think it's great that you all enjoy the webcams. I spend too much time on the computer already so I am staying away from them.  :)

I haven't been in here for a few days. My intentions are good but.......

I had a long talk on the phone today with one of my best friends in Vermont. This friend is also Chape's cousin. Today was her 84th birthday. We always used to celebrate our birthdays together by going out to dinner (husbands, too) as mine is June 8 and hers the 12th.

I've been spending time on the Senecal descendants page that I started on Facebook a couple of years ago. We now have over 125 members. I've reconnected with so many cousins and their children. It's for descendants of my grandparents (my mother's parents). They had 16 children, 15 lived to be adults, and 50 grandchildren. As of 1974 there were 136 great-grandchildren.

I got a call from the dermatologist's office and next week I will be having Mohs surgery on both places where they did the biopsies. Not looking forward to it!

Larry - I will give you a call soon. I haven't tried using Facetime yet. I hope your outing went well and that it didn't rain. I need to get out, too. No good excuse but I haven't left the house since last Friday.

Good night all.

Denver

Dad is home and he is doing fantastic.......all of the prayers have been answered!  Thank you all so much💞💞💞💞

Hi everyone.  It is now  little after 4:30 am and have been up since about 2 am.  However, I feel like a new and refreshed man after a very busy day (for me) yesterday.  I had gotten up around 1 am yesterday and then when Scott went here we went over to the Credit Union so I could finish up some business I had started last week. I decided I would just use my walker yesterday and while there the Lasik kicked in again and their rest rooms were across a big lobby, down a couple of corridors and it seemed a mile to walk but I found it in time.

We were through at the Credit Union in probably an hour and then drove down to Office Depot to return the office chair.  When I got there I couldn't find the page I had saved on my phone and a nice young lady was trying to find the order on the computer without success.  Finally I realized the chair was sitting right in front of me with a big mailing label.  The manager came to the rescue and was able to locate the order from a few days earlier in the computer and to give us the refund.  I had intended to buy a couple of things, which I now know wouldn't have worked anyway but they didn't have any in their inventory.  In the meantime, as happens when you take a fairly large dose of diuretics in the morning it was necessary to find the rest room again ASAP.  Of course, it was in the very back of the store and down a couple of long corridors. Pat had gotten home from her gifts group only to find she had left her house keys in another purse and was thus locked out of the house.  Fortunately she didn't get too cold (it was in the 60's here yesterday morning) and was also able to pull one of the porch chairs into the little protected alcove to our front door and wait for us.  When we finished at Office Depot we stopped at the drive thru at Arby's and they allowed us to use three coupons for three different sandwich offers and then we came on home.  I was literally exhausted from all of the walking and after a quick lunch I laid down for a couple of hours and rested.  Then two different couples from the Church stopped by for a nice visit.  Fortunately we all knew each other and had a very nice visit.  By the time they left the girls arrived to spend a little time with us and have dinner with us for our Wednesday night get together.  By seven PM I had to excuse myself and go to bed.

I was able to get probably around 5 or 6 hours of good sleep last night and felt like a new person this morning.  The main thing on the schedule is the aid will be here around 8 am to help me with my bath and the rest of the day is clear. Scott was able to get the laser printers all working as they should and do a couple of other small jobs.  This morning a lot of little pieces came together, such as the return RMA's for the two ramps.  I have said all of this to say I think this is going to be a great and pretty quiet day and I will take everything at a slow and steady pace.  I decided to set a time to assure I get up and walk somewhere in the house every 45 minutes. My legs are getting stronger and some of the swelling is definitely being reduced.

For those of you who also read the Christian Photographers general discussion, Oldiesman has left a message that he is working on the consolidation of the site per his previous notice and the site won't accept new posting unless he can finish some test and transfer things.  He does have a job beside looking after us!  :)

Patricia, I sure like seeing the picture incorporated in the posting.  I still plan on emailing Oldiesman a specific question as to doing this in our discussions.

Marilyne, it sounds like you made a very wise decision to turn around and come home and try for the pillows on another day.  Maybe you could just order the pillows from Walmart and have them delivered to your home.  It probably would be worth a few dollars in shipping charges if you don't spend a certain amount on your order (my Pat never seems to find that a problem so we can get the free shipping.).

Jean, not sure what you met "by allowed".  I guess you must be referring to comments on the CHAT website.

Callie, it sounds like your appliance store is very near you.  That is very convenient.

Beverly, it looks like you would agree with me that visiting with friends and relatives and neighbors is far more important that a lot of other things we do.  Yesterday I had talked with both couples that came to visit in the late afternoon but when they called to ask if they could come earlier I had to ask them to give me a couple of hours to rest as had literally worn myself out with all the walking and going to two different places yesterday morning. Both couples were very agreeable to my request and I hope not often would it be necessary for me to reschedule.  However, physically it was necessary yesterday. You see some strange sites when you wait in the dermatologist's office during Mohs surgery as they wait to be sure they won't need a little more tissue taken.  I will be happy when you call.  Facetime is very easy just locate the telephone number of the person and go from there.  It will automatically ring the person and after a certain number of tries if the other person doesn't answer you can hang up or leave a message.  Since I always try to keep my phone on my person or by where I may be resting or sleeping I can most often be reached.  We just had a light rain during our outing yesterday.  I think I probably pushed the envelope a little too far yesterday thinking I could use my walker to get everywhere I wanted to go.

Jenny, that is such great news regarding how your dad is doing and I know you must be greatly relieved.

MarsGal

Now I wish I had a way to split screen Marine City and Port Huron on my TV. I don't have it set up to do web-browsing via a web browser; I just use the YouTube channel via the TV app. The Port Huron site is great, and if I miss a ship on one, I can catch it on the other. Best of both my train watching and ship watching. I did finally manage to get the chat to show up on my tablet, but I have know idea how I did it. The up down arrow didn't seem to work. Spending way too much time watching even though I have taken to checking the Marine Traffic site several times a day to see if there is any traffic I want to put the TV on to see.

:coffee: Early morning musings: Why are ships considered female, but very often named after men?

It is rainy today, so I have yet another excuse not to do any yard work. But fear not, there is plenty of things to do inside, two books to pick up at the library, and grocery shopping to do, although I am likely to wait until tomorrow to do the latter two.

My sister and her husband are in Lancaster for the next three days. This year is the last year that Jim's veteran's group will be holding a reunion. This year it is being combined with another vet group reunion, which is also their last reunion. Time and illnesses have taken their toll on both. This year there are nineteen participating between the two of them.

Jenny, I am glad to hear that your Dad is doing so much better.

Larry, I am also glad to see that you are feeling better, too. I have been enjoying your nice long posts.

Marilyne, I didn't know that about the Herbert C. Jackson. In fact, until a few years ago, I thought the Edmund Fitzgerald was a ship from an earlier time, an assumption on my part because I never saw newscasts of the ship going down and had assumed that Gordon Lightfoot was singing a folk song about an early ship.

Marilyne

Jenny - Good News, that your dad is home, and doing well! Also sounds like his general outlook, is much better than before? Will Diane be able to give him the ongoing care that he will need?  I hope he continues to improve, and that you will feel comfortable about returning home.

Larry - Looks like you definitely overdid it yesterday, when you were at Office Depot, returning and exchanging your chair.  Situations like that always seem to be so time consuming. I can understand how you finally had to take that long, tiresome walk to the Men's room!   I don't understand what you mean by Oldiesmann, consolidating the CP site?  What exactly is the reason for that, and I'm wondering if he will do that here in S&F?

MarsGal - Like you, I thought, "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald", was a shipwreck from long, long ago, and was surprised when I researched it, and found out it happened in the 1970's!  Hard to believe that I don't remember hearing about it or reading about it at that time?  I remember the song, by Gordon Lightfoot, and always liked it a lot.

Mary Ann

Seeing as how I live in Michigan and did live in Michigan at the time, I do remember hearing about the Edmund Fitzgerald.  By now I've forgotten more than I remember, but I think it happened near Whitefish Bay and the ship broke in two.  In November, the water would be cold, maybe not ice cold, but conditions are different in different years.  One year Jim and I went to the UP to the Whitefish Bay lighthouse and saw some things from the ship,  including a light.  For the most part, I believe the powers-that-be have elected to leave everything at the bottom of the lake, including bodies.  I understand November storms on Lake Superior are bad.  It is the largest and deepest of the Great Lakes.

It has been drizzly here today and I have been unable to sit on the deck.  I doubt we got to 60 degrees today.  I have entertained myself by watching mostly the Marine City and Port Huron sites, both of which interest me.  I think a ship will go to Marine City soon.  I saw Paul go through the Soo earlier today.

I've got to find another hobby!! Ha!

Mary Ann

Marilyne

Mary Ann - Here is a YouTube video of the Gordon Lightfoot folksong, "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald".  The lyrics tell the story, although the scrolling isn't in perfect sync with his singing. The music does have a plaintive, melancholy sound to it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vST6hVRj2A

Mary Ann

Marilyn, every year on November 10, Michigan radio stations play the Gordon Lightfoot song.  The ship went down in 1975, almost 44 years ago.

It's windy at Grand Haven and several kites are flying.

Mary Ann

Beverly

Jenny - Such good news about your Dad! I'm sure he was very happy to be home.

Larry - I got tired just reading about the day you had yesterday.  :)

We had another drizzly day with temps in the 80s.

As far as CP goes, everything is operating as usual there. I am going to be gradually moving over the various pages to the new format in the coming weeks/months as I have time, then when that's all done I will be moving the site from https://www.christianphotographers.com/community to just christianphotographers.com. That will take a bit more work as I'll want to set it up to redirect old links to the proper location (both to make it easier on you and so people can still find things via search engines). I'll post more details as time goes on :)

As far as images are concerned, feel free to post them if you want. I think most people are on high-speed connections now so it shouldn't be as much of a problem now as it was in the past, especially as computers continue to get more powerful.

ANOTHER good day for my Dad💞💞

I smiled when I read all the sweet comments about Dad, and then when I showed him, he smiled too!  Thank you @ll so much. We had home health here this afternoon....one RN and the OT nurse.  They were both amazed at how well he is doing, especially for his 95 years of age.  There main concern is how much weight he has lost and therefore how slim, (SKINNY) he is.  He is 6'1" and weighs 130 pounds.  He is eating pretty well now so hopefully he can put a bit of weight on.

MARILYNE, we are feeling very encouraged about Dad's possibility of being able to remain here in the home with Diane.  It is looking quite encouraging.

Bob spent the day working on Dads finances and figuring out how to sell some of his stock that is in Dad and Mom's trust. I thought mom would have been taken off the ownership of the stock years ago! But she is not so lots of extra due diligence is needed.

Son Mark drove to Sacramento yesterday and picked out their new home today and got it all signed sealed and delivered.  He drove back to Paso Robles tonight and they will start packing for there move in a few days.

Pleasant dreams to all.

[b} Hi everyone on this June 14th with another month about half over.  We are to have a sunny and mild day with it getting only into the mid-80/s.  I just realized that we are only about 1 week away from the official start of summer.

I am up early again this morning and it looks like it will be a great day.  I just ate my breakfast, including a fresh South Carolina peach, some watermelon that some nice folks brought to us, a nutritional drink and the nutritional bar.  Then I topped it all with a big handful of pills. The Hospice nurse is suppose to come today for her weekly visit and the housekeeper will be here a little before 10 am.

Yesterday a couple from out Sunday School class came and visited with us and also brought us three delicious chicken dinners from our local Wifesavers Restaurant.  Pat and I ate ours at dinnertime and Scott came out after work and enjoyed his.  He did several chores for us while here like emptying the trash, unloading the dishwasher and I don't know what else.  He is coming back over this morning to finish packaging and labeling the ramps we are returning today along with one other package to return to Amazon.  As far as I know that ends the returns for now.

The man who was here is a lay minister and tells lots of stories from his childhood.  We gave him one yesterday when just before they arrived Pat turned on the garbage disposal and she had dropped a peach pit down it and it locked up.  As soon as the couple came in Pat said she needed a hand and the couple pitched in and got the disposal working again. That must have been a first and I am sure the man will be able to make a good story out of the event even though it was the wife who did much of the work.

I did do the research on the two new tires that we put on Scott's car earlier this month to see if we could find a better price and the Citi card refunds the difference.  However, after spending a bit of time trying to find a better online price I found the garage had charged the best price so that effort was scraped as a waste of time.

I did write to Oldiesman yesterday about us being able to post photos or graphics into our discussion posting and he told me that was just fine as we no longer have problems with limited and expensive memory on a server.  This will make our postings more interesting.  Logic told me this should no longer be a problem.

MarsGal, glad you didn't have to do any yard work yesterday.  I can sit here at the computer without exertion on my heart and I really do like to write.  I just want to share the joy of life I am now experiencing under Hospice.

Marilyne, I have to admit I pushed the envelop a little too hard and am still paying for it but I guess that is how we learn. I have been walking here in the house this morning and now my heart is telling me to "cool it".  So I expect to just things easy the rest of the day with some bed rest and just using the computer.  I see Oldiesman has left an explanation of  what is happening to the CP site.  [/font]

Beverly, I don't think I have any choice but to take it easier today as my heart is complaining over just what I have done this morning.

A strange experience a litter while ago when my heart gave the message that I must lay down immediately as this is no the usual angina.  I did lay down and now think I may have to pretty much stay down the rest of the day.  I am glad the nurse will be here today.  I am thankful this nice laptop that I can work from on my bedside table so I will be able to keep busy while really not doing any physical exertion,

Jenny, glad things look so positive for you Dad.  Nice that Bob understands what is needed with the stock.  It sure didn't take Mark long to find a new home.

Mary Ann

Larry, it is such a joy to read your long, happy messages.  I don't recall anyone of earlier times being so upbeat.  It does me good to read them and I am sure others feel much the same.

We are starting at 60 degrees today and supposed to get up into the 70s.  I doubt we reached the 60s yesterday.

Today is trash and recycle day.  We missed recycle last time and we missed it again today.  I suggested to Tom he might put the tub out at the curb for the man to get it on the way out but he didn't want to do that.  I have the trash ready but that is not  picked up until after noon and I know that will be out in time.

I got up about 5 am the first time and read through the folders I read.  I even saw a couple of boats go by.  After a couple of hours, I went back to bed and slept a bit more.  Kendrick joined me.

Today is Flag Day - June 14.  I do not have a large 50-star flag to display and the little ones on a stick do not show up in the window.  I had a cotton 48-star that we had as I was growing up.  Dad fixed something on the front porch where we could hang it.  My neighbor put up a flag holder here, but they changed our decks and I did not put the holder up.  One year when Geoff was here, long before he married, I mentioned the flag and he said he'd like it.  Since I gave so much to the kids who lived nearer, I gave him the flag.  I think his mother has it until he gets his own home.  I told him to remember the flag came from his great-grandfather.  I haven't noticed any flags flying here, other than the one that flies all of the time.

Mary Ann

Joy

Good morning.  A little chilly this morning, but supposed to warm up later.  Our June weather is sure not what it is supposed to be.  I think I have mentioned before, that I love the hot weather. Can't get too hot for me.  I see the big pine trees out my window are really blowing.

Larry, so glad that you are getting out a little bit.  Hope you feel better today, after your busy day yesterday.. I am sure you will learn how to manage your energy as the days go by.

Jennie, so glad to know that your Dad is doing well.

Mary Ann, I have not been following the web cams as much as I used to.  I cannot get into most of the new ones that you all talk about.  I keep getting a message that my browser does not support that site.  And, I am not sure how to change the browser.  And, I keep forgetting to ask my son what to do.  I can still get into the Duluth  ones, but have not watched them for a while.  [

And, yes, today is Flag Day. I have only heard one mention of it so far today.  One of my best friend's birthday is today, so I must remember to give her a call later.

I still have some dishes to clean up and then get on with my day.

I hope everyone will have a wonderful day and a great weekend.   Happy Father's Day to all the dads !!!

Mary Ann

Thanks, Patricia, for Mallory Square.  I used to have a different version, more inland, but it either was PTV or I lost it.  I cannot get sites with PTV.  How nice it looks there.

I can't complain because the sun is shining here and the temperature is in the mid 60s.

I just watched a ship come in from Lake Huron and go as far as a curve in the St Clair River in Port Huron.  That site has such different scenery than Marine City; both are interesting and different from what I might see.  In fact, all of the sites I have on my computer are different.  See the USA from your computer!

Joy, I have something similar that pops up - This app will not work on this PC - or words to that effect.  However, it always appears after I have finished using the app and maybe some day, I will be told things will not work at all!

Mary Ann

Marilyne

A cool windy morning here, which is good, because it means our heat wave is finally over!

Joy - sounds like we're having the same weather this morning, even though we're on opposite coasts.  It's overcast here, and my outside temperature gauge says 59 degrees.  It will probably go up to 65 or 70 today, which will be a nice change.  I used to love the hot weather when I was younger, but cannot deal with it so well in my old age, so I now prefer it like this.  Between 75 and 80 degrees would be perfect for me, but it never seems to stay in that comfortable range. Always either higher or lower.

I think you probably still have the old webcam for Marine City, which is no longer working?  The new one is a YouTube cam, and has the chat bar scrolling along the side.  When you first click on it, you'll get an ad/commercial, but after about 30 seconds you can click to end it, and the it goes right to the webcam.  I just looked at it, and there is a boat there right now, that looks like it's heading straight for the camera!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EbAFT1gmen8

Mary Ann - AJ put our flag out first thing this morning!  We have one of those little metal holders, out in front, so it's easy to manage.  I will be curious to see if there are any other flags on our cul-de-sac of fifteen houses?  Later when I go to the store, and drive through town, it will be interesting to see if there are many flags flying??  California, is not a very patriotic state.

Jenny - A big HOORAY, for your dad's amazing recovery! I hope his appetite returns, so he can gain some of his weight back again.  Interesting that your son picked out a house in Sacto, without your dil being there to approve.  However, with iPads, FaceTime, Real Estate sites, and more - I'm sure that she was "walking through" all the houses with him, and it was just like being there.  Times have changed, haven't they!

Hi Patricia!  I see we were posting at the same time.  That seems to happen a lot in this folder.

Mary Ann

We went to lunch at the Cannonsburg Deli today, the first time we've been there this year.  They have a board with all of the options on it - several types of meats and breads plus what is put on your sandwich.  I had a turkey sandwich on sourdough bread plus lettuce, Swiss cheese, Dijon mustard, mayo, tomato.  I think I'm missing part of the menu, but you get the idea.  The sandwiches are huge.  You also get a bag of chips.  All this for $7.95 for a full sandwich and we each brought back half of our sandwich and the chips.  I usually do bring home half of any sandwich but today Tom brought back half of us.  He had a small container of seven-layer salad that I did not have.  We've taken Dot there so sometime we'll have to take Jan.  Jan, in her new job, doesn't start work until 3 pm so it would work fine.

Our day is kind of overcast and we had sprinkles on the way home, but it is comfortable.

Marilyn, I checked your link and mine to Marine City and they are the same.  I do not get an ad when I click on the site and our chats are in different places.  This morning I watched the John Boland come in off Lake Huron and a couple hours later, I saw it in Marine City.  I figure it takes about 1 1/2 hours from one place to the other and if I get there early, I can wait.

I think I'll see if Kendrick wants to take a nap; I do!

Mary Ann

FlaJean

Patricia, I like that Key West link.

I also get the short advertisement on some of those you tube web cam sites.

Nothing new here and not much to write about.  Hope everyone is having a good day.

Jenny - Good for Mark choosing a house so quickly! I have a difficult time making decisions and picking out a house is a MAJOR decision! I can't even decide which color to paint a room!

Mary Ann - I almost always take half of my meal home with me, both lunch and dinner. I can't eat much at a time but like to eat often. I think they call people like me "grazers".  :)

Everyone in our neighborhood places small flags along the curbs in front of our houses. Some have the large flags on poles or the house.

Larry - I'm having a problem with Facetime on my phone. For some reason the volume is really low. We tried to raise it without success. Chape is working on it. I hope you felt better after resting most of the day.
