Rammel, I know you will be glad to get your new computer.  My iMac is 10 years old but still working good except a bit slow but thinking about buying a new one before it goes.  I enjoy making personal birthday and anniversary cards for my family and making an occasional video.  I just don't like to use my husband's laptop with that 15 inch screen, but it sure is fast.

Have a good day everyone.

Jean,
Good mileage on your old computer, BUT ------- Be sure to get or have a good backup of the important stuff. Luckily I had most of mine on an external hard drive but had to jump through hoops to get it. Registration codes were very elusive. I think I got most of the important things back but was up till 3:00 AM last night doing it. From here on it will just be tweaking.

Nice weather here yesterday and today. Temp's only up to the low 80's.  Have to catch up to all those things we put off when it's just too bad out to do anything.

Marilyne - Hope you didn't get our bad weather.

Mary Ann, I  have copied and posted this on Larry Hanna's Christian Photographers site as Janet had posted asking if anyone had recently heard from Larry...

Now where is Patricia?...

MarsGal

Thanks to Scott for giving us an update on Larry.

Marilyne, I had a UTI like that once, but I don't remember getting the nasty headaches, just tired all summer. It took me about a yearto get rid of it. All the fancy newer drugs did was supress it but didn't get rid of it. The doctor even put me on maintenance course of six months on a sulfa drug. Finally, the one of the older, and much cheaper, antibiotics worked. I hope you have better luck getting rid of it quickly.

Mary Ann, the flyover is of the Black River which is just across from the chemical plants at Sarnia and out of camera range for both live webcams at Port Huron. Lovely footage. It did satisfy my curiosity about the the river and marina. I wasn't expecting to see the river built up into a channel like that, with boats lining both sides.

Mary Ann

Thanks for the information about the Black River, MarsGal.  I'll look at a map of Port Huron to get some perspective.

We had a nice dinner tonight at the Olive Garden with Jan and her mother.  Her mother is in the early stages of dementia but you wouldn't know it to be with her.  She knows her husband is gone but sometimes talks as if he is still around.  Which I think is normal for a recent death.  Tom and I treated them.  It has been a nice day and is still nice this evening.

I doubt Kendrick will do anything with the new toy, but I felt I should try to get him to show interest in something he can play with.  I won't try again.  In about a half hour Kendrick and I will go on the deck for a while.

Cats are funny, Mary Ann. I've bought toys that the cats seemingly ignored only to find that sometime during the night, the toy had moved. Also, I've had several, like that ball tier thing, that they ignored for quite a few weeks before one of them tested it out. They don't play with it much, but they do play with it, Lucy included.

I almost forgot to put the trash out this morning. It is surprisingly cool out (63o). That will not last - it is to go up to 88o today. It looks like the mailman ran out of or missed my house - again - yesterday with the grocery ads. I dislike having to look at the ads on line. Oh, Well! Other than making up my grocery list, I have some housecleaning and laundry to do today.

MarsGal

And here is another form of sailing: https://www.space.com/lightsail-2-solar-sail-deployment-photos.html Congratulations to the Planetary Society.

Marilyne

I had a bad reaction to the prescribed medication for the UTI, so I had a rough night last night, and only slept for a couple of hours.  I'm going back to bed now, and wait until I can call the doctors office at 9:00, and get a new prescription ASAP.  I'm prone to bad reactions to prescription  medications, so not surprised.

MarsGal - I can relate to your comment about the grocery ads! Sometimes I don't get them with my mail or enclosed with the morning paper, and I dislike looking online.  There is something about holding the colorful newspaper ad, that's easier for me.  Safeway, has what's called "$5 Friday", which offers some good bargains for one day only.

Mary Ann

Since our groceries are picked up by the store and Tom goes after them, we have to use the online pictures to order.  One category they have is "Purchased" which is where our previous purchases are shown.  I cannot "impulse buy" that way, I check on that category and order what I've had previously.  I've been happy with the produce purchases and I'd say the only things I've been unhappy with are packaged things.  Tom is to pick up our groceries when he's finished his errands today.

Marilyn, I hope you feel better soon.  If it is as warm in northern CA as it is here, not feeling well is not good.  It's about 80 degrees here at 12:15 pm.

I am watching Championship golf played I don't know where (just found out it is in England) and the players are former champions, most of whom I have heard of.

Earlier, I watched some ships and I'll go back to those in a few minutes.  In between Kendrick and I went on the deck where it was very comfortable.

Lovely picture, Rammel.

Marilyne, I hope the reaction wasn't too severe, and that you find one that works.

Mary Ann
, you asked about the South Beach in Michigan. I forgot to answer you. It is actually South Beach Park, part of South Haven which is probably what you know it by. It is across the lake from and about mid-way between Chicago and Milwalkee. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hi8CRvcXAos I just noticed that it is pretty much in line with and west of Battle Creek.

My Dad was in Battle Creek when he was in the Army. He was part of a group there to set up a hospital. His big story there was that, because there weren't all set up yet, he had to share a room with several dead soldiers who died in a jeep accident. Creeped him out to no end what with all the strange sounds a dead body makes. When Dad deployed to England, he was part of the advance crew that set up hospitals and POW camps there.

Marilyne

I'm just sitting here, waiting to hear from my doctor, as to a new antibiotic?  It's been about two hours since I called the office, and talked to a charge nurse, but so far I haven't heard back.  I hope they call soon, because this afternoon I want to go with AJ, to his doctor appointment, to hear about the results of his colonoscopy.

Mary Ann - Yes, it's hot for sure.  Yesterday it went up to 98 here, and over 100 in the East Bay.  Today is supposed to be another scorcher, but so far it seems cooler to me?  Good that your weather is more comfortable now.  Yesterday, I saw that Paul, would be at Duluth in the late afternoon.  I think the schedule said 4:00, which would have been a convenient 2:00 PM, for me. I was too caught up in all this other stuff, and forgot all about it.

MarsGal - Interesting information about your dad, and what he did during The War . . . setting up the hospitals and POW camps.  My dad was in the Navy, and was stationed in Hawaii, with Navel Air Transport, so he was part of a crew that flew to all the South Pacific Islands, delivering ammunition and food, and bringing back the bodies of Americans who had died in combat.

Rick - "Veins of Heaven", is a spectacular photo!  I enjoyed looking at it, and would be happy to see more!

Mary Ann

Rick, interesting picture, especially considering the sun is below the surface.

Yes, MarsGal, I am familiar with the South Haven beach, not that I've been there, but I have heard of it.  I have been to Battle Creek as it isn't far from Grand Rapids and I've driven through there on the way to Indps IN.  In the "good old days", I think we took a boat from either South Haven or Saugatuck to Chicago to go to my aunt's home in Downers Grove IL.  The trip did something to one of the headlights on our car and my dad had to work on the headlight to get it to work - this was at night.

Besides the wiggly mouse on a post that Kendrick hasn't played with yet, I bought him a set of five fish with catnip.  Those don't interest him, either.  At six, I think he's too old for toys.  He's the equivalent of a 45-year-old human and he's happy to be in the same place I am.  He never played with the balls on the three tiers, even as a kitten, so I know I won't be buying him any more toys.  He's a good cat regardless!

Mary Ann

Marilyne

Mary Ann - Looks like we posted at exactly the same time!  I'm hoping we hear from Beverly and Jenny today, as to how Donna and Michele are doing?

Mary Ann

Marilyn, I just saw that Paul is at the Soo, probably in a lock and on the way to St Clair which means he won't be in Marine City.  He will go through Port Huron, but maybe not until late.  That is, late for me, but not so much for you, except it would be dark.  I think we can see more at Port Huron in the dark than in other places.  You probably will be able to see it, if it is early enough for you.  I'll try to keep tabs on it and I know you will.

I hope by now your doctor has called.

Mary Ann

FlaJean

Lovely picture, Rammel.  I looked at some of the others but (to me) they didn't compare with the beauty of that picture but all were interesting.

Gigi, Larry and I went out to dinner last night at Carrabba's Italian Restaurant.  We all had enough left for today.  Everything was delicious!

I have a book to pick up from the library which is good as I have finished all the library books I have except one which I didn't care for.  So I need to make a trip to the library.

Marilyne, my daughter-in-law is very sensitive to certain antibiotics and the pharmacy she uses keeps a record of them.  I hope you hear soon and hope the news from your husband's colonoscopy will be OK.

The day is bright and sunny but hot!

Mary Ann

Jean, I didn't mention that I had Shrimp Alfredo at the Olive Garden yesterday and I brought half of it home.  It was a large portion with a lot of shrimp. I finished the shrimp today and half of the noodles and I think that is going to be "it" for the rest.

Dot just called to let me know what time she will pick me up for the funeral tomorrow.  She has a handicap plate but so do a lot of others.  Jan's family was very active in their church and I am sure the funeral will be well attended.

Tom has left for Holland to sit on the beach with one of his lady friends.  Or they may go down to Saugatuck, which isn't much further.

I've been watching golf on the TV and ships on the computer.  I left the ships and I have the golf on mute so I could check B&T to see if anyone had appeared.  The cat and I sat on the deck for about 15 minutes but I think he was warm so we came in.  He does like it out there and usually goes to a corner to watch for birds.

Mary Ann

FlaJean

Mary Ann, I had (fork tender) veal piccata (no capers) with angel hair spaghetti with the same lemon/butter sauce on it and a Caesar salad.  It was just as good warmed up today.  Their bread is so good I have to have to watch myself or I will fill up with bread before the meal arrives.

I just got back from the library and it wasn't as hot as I expected.  Haven't looked at the webcams today.

Mary Ann

Jean, your supper tonight sounds delicious.  I shouldn't tell what I had, but I will - a half bologna sandwich.  At noon I had eaten as much as I wanted of the shrimp alfredo from yesterday and I have to get rid of the bologna.

Kendrick and I sat on the deck for a while again and I wanted to watch Washington Week so I came in but he wanted to stay out.  He was ready to come in when I went to the door after the program finished.

I'm debating with myself whether I want to shower and shampoo tonight - soon -  or hope I wake up early enough to do it in the morning.  We will leave for the funeral about 10:30; I do not use a hair dryer but I find in the warmer weather, my hair dries faster than usual.

Mary Ann

Beverly

Still no word from Jenny about Michele.

Marilyne - We won't know about Donna's treatment plan till she has all the tests. Two of the tests are a PET scan and a bone marrow biopsy. I hope you finally got the call for your prescription change. I also have a UTI and took my last antibiotic pill today.

Mary Ann and Jean - Carraba's and Olive Garden are two of my favorite restaurants.

I have been having what's called "chest vest therapy" for my lungs at the doctor's. I was just approved by Medicare to have the equipment at home. That way I can do it myself and more often.

Good night all.

Yes been five days since we last heard from Jenny ( Denver ) about Michelle...plus we are still missing a post from Patricia...( Angelface ) i do hope all is well with her and the smoke, I know her name has been showing as " looked in " on recent days, just been no postings, been over a week now...

I do wish our Larry Hanna was still making postings, this is so out of character for him as we have all gotten used to a daily posting from him, even though he has told us he wont be posting anymore due to his memory...

Mary Ann

I'd better post something now because I doubt I'll be able to later.  I have showered and shampooed, so I got that out of the way.  Dot and her neighbor are picking me up about 10:30 to go to Jan's dad's funeral.  There will be lunch afterward and it will be early afternoon before I get home.  Tom is on the "go" as usual so will not be here when I get back.

I hope to get another message from Scott giving us an update on his father.  I have no time frame in mind, just any time.  Scott must be busy taking care of both parents and holding a job too.  I hope Jennifer and Elizabeth can help in some way.

Beverly, I have not heard of "chest vest therapy" and if you mentioned it earlier, I missed it.  It sounds serious but if you can treat it at home, that is a good thing.  Is it something you can overcome?  Or will cope with the rest of your life.

I hope we hear from our missing posters soon.

This was posted by Judy B ( Pat Halbach sister ) on the Christian Photographers site today...I hope she doesn't mind me posting this in here..

To all who knew Paul Halbach:  I got word late last night that he has passed away. He struggled with leukemia in the last few years.  Please pray for his family as they deal with his death.

Yes I do remember him, so sad, in such a short space of time after the loss of his wife Pat Scott Halbach who started up our S & F's some 10 plus years ago...

angelface555

Good morning. Bubble mentioned in a post that you have been wondering where I am. I've been ill as my osteoarthritis has been worse on my left side. Either I feel as if a limb is asleep even upon awakening or it's felt hollow. I have also had hip spasms on my left side that occur out of the blue and can be quite painful.

Since I don't have a regular doctor, it is hard to get an appointment altho I've thought about going to emergency for perhaps an ultrasound.

Jackie, I don't know who has been looking in?

MaryAnn, I'm sorry about Jan's father and of course Larry's decline which is worrisome. Marilyne, Beverly, I hope you both get well soon and find some relief.

No news from Jenny doesn't sound good. I'll be back when I can.

Marilyne

Patricia - good to hear from you, but sorry that you haven't been well.  It seems like lots of us are suffering from health issues.  I had another (my second) bad reaction to meds for my UTI, and when I called my doctors office late yesterday, they told me I had to wait until Monday, for the results of my culture.  Today I'm much worse, so I think I'll have to visit the Urgent Care this afternoon if things don't improve.  I'm really hoping they will, because I need to be healthy for AJ's sake.

AJ is much worse off than I am.  I went with him to the doctor yesterday, and we found out that the spot on his colon, (seen on the petscan), is a malignant tumor. So the doctor set him up for surgery this coming Friday.  We are not really surprised by the diagnosis, but we didn't expect the doctor to schedule surgery so soon.

Jackie - Thanks for telling us about Paul Halbach - Pat's husband.  I don't believe he ever posted here in S&F, so we never had a chance to get to know him here.  I'm sorry to hear of his passing.  If there is a funeral/obituary notice for him, posted on Christian Photographers, please copy it here for us to read.

Patricia, it's good to hear from you and I'm sorry for your troubles with your ailments.  I have osteoarthritis, but not to the extent you do.  I hope you can bring it under control.

I went to the funeral today for Jan's father.  It was no different than most other funerals.  Jan, her son, daughter, sister and former DIL all participated.  Some of his ashes were interred in the church's memory garden.  By the time the service and lunch were over, it was quite warm in the building, in fact, my face was red when I got home.  I think I'm back to normal but I'm not sure.  My cheeks are not hot.  My problems are not as severe as yours, Patricia.

Jackie, thanks for posting about Paul Halbach.  I think I had heard that he was not well some time ago.

Marilyn, I'm sorry to hear you still are having trouble with the meds for your UTI.  To make you wait until Monday is unfair and I'm with you about going to Urgent Care.  I've gone to Urgent Care but they were not able to help me and sent me to the ER.  Getting old is not easy..

I'm sorry to hear about AJ's colon problem.  It might be a good thing the doctor has him scheduled for surgery so soon.  I wish mine had been scheduled sooner than the three months and it now is two months away.

As I recall, Paul Hallbach did post here, shortly after he and Pat were married and I don't remember how many years ago that was.

Patricia welcome back..oh " spasms that occur out of the blue, " I live with these daily, mine are at the join of my top inside of right leg, all part and parcel of my PP-Multiple Sclerosis...

Oh, so many serious medical issues we are all suffering with...our lists are getting longer...

I am sure I remember Paul Halbach was active at some point in the photo - video clips room along with Sato and Jack wv giving out some good advice and handy tips on editing..

Marilyne, I hope you can get the proper medicine that will give you Relief.  So sorry to hear about AJ and hope for the best and a quick recovery for both of you.  This aging business is no fun!

Sure hope Patricia will be better soon.

Mary Ann, hope you are back to normal by the time you read this.  I did watch one of the departing ships last night at the Duluth site.  I watched it first from the hillside webcam and then switched to one of the others and watched it go under the bridge.  There were lots of people waiting for it to appear.  Easy to see there as it was well lit.

Mary Ann

Jean, thank you, things are back to normal.  I do have choking spells where I swallow wrong.

It is so nice out that I decided to sit on the deck for a while.  And my funny cat - when he got to the door, he heard my neighbor talking on her deck and he would not go out!  I will say he is not used to other people and when anyone he does not recognize comes in, he disappears.  I sat there for about a half hour and all of a sudden it began to rain.  I don't know if it is still raining, but the rain did get me inside.

Mary Ann

Joy

Good morning.  I am just making an appearance.  I had a bad night. The sleeping pill didn't work last night. I was awake almost all night. Finally,  fell asleep around 5 and slept until after 8.  Not what I had planned to do. I wanted to get some laundry started before then. So, my whole day will be messed up.

I am so sorry to read that several friends are dealing with serious health problems.  My thoughts will be with you all.

I am also sorry to read that Pat's husband has passed away. Such a short time after Pat has been gone. Hard on families when that happens, although,  sounds like it wasn't unexpected.

Patricia,  nice to have you back. Hope you will start feeling better. Seems all of us have one problem or another.

I, too, am missing Jenny.  I am thinking that they may have had to change their travel plans, as the day they were supposed to leave for Boston was when so many flights had been changed due to bad weather. And, I know they were to leave early.  Hopefully, she is having computer problems.

Also, sure am missing  Larry's postings. Hope we will hear something from his son soon again.

A good morning to all the early morning friends.

I will try to get back later today.  Have a great Sunday.

Joy
BIG BOX

FlaJean

Joy, sorry to hear you aren't feeling well.  It seems we are all having one problem or another.  Some more serious than others.  The "rust years" as Mary Ann calls them.

Beverly, I had never heard of the chest vest therapy.  It's good that you can do that at home and saves the trips to the doctor's ofc.

Thinking about you Jackie and wondering if you were able to get to church this morning.

Rammel, after thinking and thinking, I decided to buy the new computer.  Apple builds it according to what you want so I should be getting it around August 5th or thereabouts.  Apple products are usually very easy to set up and it comes with a lot of Apple software.  Do need to do a little research to see if my old 2008 Microsoft for Mac will work with the new system.  If not, I'll just use the Apple office apps.  Should be interesting and hopefully not too stressful.

Wishing the best for all our S&F friends on this hot summer day.
