Jenny, when you write it, it sounds like such a long procedure for Michele but when we take it a day at a time, it isn't that bad.  I certainly hope all goes well.

Jane, lucky you, meeting with Lloyd and Nancy in the morning.  They are quite a way from home now.  Enjoy your time with them.

Mary Ann

Shirley

I'm bringing up the rear again tonight! What a good feeling to know this is the last treatment/chemo, for Michele, and more to come but not as rough as these last few months. Prayers begging for her to have lots of good years to see the kids and grands grow up!

Jane, I do envy Lloyd & Nancy sleeping in that Walmart parking lot and having breakfast with you. I love camping in CO and the convenience of electricity in MO.... but the cats prefer the activity of an all night Walmart!

Phyllis, glad you are feeling more like your old self.... cooking is good therepy!  ;)  I tend to cook when I am upset, not always smart. I just took a couple tubs of meat down to the river for whatever is hungry tonight. When I defrosted the freezer this last week I found some past date & some tubs that had lost their stickers of dates... so put them in the frig & will take a few down each day till they are gone. The animals that live along the river clean up anything I take down so I don't feel too guilty about being wasteful.....

Amy, glad you had a good day out.... our cool weather is gone & the heat is on! Awful! Sorry to be wishing the days away but I can hardly wait for COLD weather & be able to get out for a little while without melting into a puddle. I vacuumed the bottom of the pool about 7:30 & it was still hot. I like to keep it open until near freezing so it doesn't get so icky for spring opening. I wouldn't want to live any place else, but the pool is sure a pain in the neck to maintain. We tried to have it filled in when we first bought the house but not possible unless we were willing to have fences taken down in the front (side of house), have all the concrete broken out of the bottom (they mildew) & then still be stuck with all that concrete pad behind the entire house... which would be extremely hot without the water to keep it cool. SO, I whine & will stay because it's home for the cats & I enjoy the river & privacy. End of soapbox! I will admit that I'm glad we did not get it filled in because it makes it FEEL cooler. I'm not willing to spend what it costs to have pool service when it is a job I can do & need the exercise. Pains me to spend more than $300 just to have a pool man come put the cover on & winterize the system, but he did a good job last fall & I don't want to have my sons do the job since they really don't know what chemicals he used.

Roofer is to come tomorrow to settle when they start and make sure the insurance has covered everything. My co-pay on that is about $3,500... but can't help what Mother Nature causes & since it's another "Lifetime" (dumb expression when a good hail storm will do it in again)... it should be one less thing to mark down when I go to sell. Got things lined up to do so better get to bed & be ready to roll in the morning. Sweet dreams to all and God Bless. Hugs to all.  Shirley (good night, Mary Ann)

Good morning everyone.

Cool crisp morning here with a temp of 35° F,thankfully I covered up part of the garden last night!

Nothing concrete to do but as always lots of things to do in the house.I do have a cupboard that needs cleaning so maybe that is a start..after I take Kyle out for his coffee.

He is going to paint/stain the entrance steps.I also have a kitchen window that needs cleaning.see what I mean about household chores..always something to do....just like Shirley's pool :)

Jane have a good time today with Lloyd and Nancy.

Shirley, you feed the critters and fish and here I feed the critters and crows. Love watching the antics of the crows. Can do away with the TV ,when the birds are here that is great entertainment for me. When I lived on the farm, there was no one about and people would say to me don't I get bored. What a silly question it seemed to me as if I had spare time I would go sit on a fence rail and watch the calves, lambs or colts play. Prime entertainment.

Phyliss ,this is the pea soup recipe I used, adapting it to our tastes. Instead of the usual 4-5 hours cooking it is done in 18 min!!! So tasty too!

https://www.simplyhappyfoodie.com/instant-pot-split-pea-soup/

Better get a move on here.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning.  We are still waiting on Hurricane Dorian.  He is the slowest storm I think I have ever heard of.  Unfortunately, he has intensified back to a Cat. 3 and has turned a little more inland.  So, here near Raleigh, NC, we are expecting a little more rain and higher winds.  Schools are closed, at least, for today.  And power trucks from all over the eastern U.S. are here and ready to deal with expected power outages.  My town of Cary (we are next door to Raleigh) has sent our Deep Water rescue team down to the Wilmington area to be ready for any rescues that might be needed.  Also, several power trucks and linemen are ready to step in and help, if they need to.

I was feeling so good yesterday and moving around much more, even made some more really good applesauce, but had another sudden attack of vertigo and nausea last night.  I'm kind of discouraged but trying to deal with it.  I'm feeling a bit wobbly this morning and the tinnitus is terrible but "it is what it is" and I'm just trying to keep going the best that I can.

Joy, I hope you don't have trouble with Dorian when he finally gets up near you.  Stay safe.

Gloria, I don't know if you will feel anything from the storm or if it will have turned out to sea by the time it gets up to your area.  I hope it won't bother you.  You stay safe, too.

Mary Ann, did you read online that the Picton Castle's ship's cat, Fiji, went missing and they had to leave port and continue on without her?  But, all is well and she was found and is being returned to her ship while it is, or was, docked in Clayton, NY, on the Saint Lawrence.   https://www.picton-castle.com/news/ships-cat-fiji-returned-safely-to-picton-castle.html

Amy, there so many good IP soup recipes on line that I don't think I can make them all.  But, the winter will be long and I think that I can probably make most of them.  The IP is perfect for soup and really cuts down on the time it takes to make them.  I don't even soak the dried beans beforehand and it turns out so good and just right.

Shirley, I envy your energy and all that you do in a day.  Would you send some of the "get up and go" to me?

Jane, say "hi" to Lloyd and Nancy for me and enjoy your breakfast with them.

Speaking of breakfast....I must go get mine.  Take care, All.

Mary Ann

Phyllis, I had not read of the disappearance of the Picton Castle cat and I'm glad she was found and will be returned.  I did not see Fiji when they were docked at Algonac but someone in Chat mentioned having seen her.  Fiji is a very well traveled cat.

I have copied some IP recipes for Tom but he hasn't tried any.  He likes to cook but I think he is more of a short-order cook.  We eat OK but not always what I prefer.  I want a casserole one of these days and I'll get it even if I have to make one myself.

Shirley, I am exhausted after reading all that you do.  I never did have your energy and I have even less than what I used to have.

Amy and JaneS are workhorses too and I'd never be able to try to follow you two.

We have the earmarks of a nice day so I'll enjoy it.

Mary Ann

Gloria

Good morning everyone.Going to be a nice cool day here    Looks like yesterday was full of echos in here, that is not good is it? Out near a canyon little sir echo would be nice to hear.

MARY ANN  at least Tom's friend was not in the Bahamas when the storm hit.

AMY  no frost here yet. Right now I would be looking forward to helping my son at his orchard. Oh the aroma of ripening apples in the orchard. Now he goes and picks at an huge orchard in Conn. I know he will bring me some. My mouth is watering for an apple pie. I have been thinking of that song since I started here this morning and now I am listening to the link you put in. Thank you, never heard this version before.

JANE  nice to know where Lloyd and Nancy are now.

JENNY  thank God that Michele has a good outlook and not giving up. she is a fighter. I pray for her and the whole family.

SHIRLEY  I am so glad I no longer own a house. I got the house with he divorce but was too much for me so sold it.

AMY  like you I am never bored as long as I can get outside every day, I can go to the back of the building and watch birds, at time a deer will go by as long as I sit still.

PHYLLIS  a hurricane here is mostly along the coast and causes a lot of damage. Last time one we got to this area was 1954 and did a lot of damage, in a city close by it flooded a cemetery and caskets went floating down a river. To this day the still occasionally find some bones, Sad. After that the put us a dam so it should never happen again. Most times we will get some wind and rain and it is no worse than we get a Nor'easter. We had one in 1944 and it was during the night. My mother was so scared, my father and I sat with her all night. We heard a big thud and she jumped and that scared me. The chimney on the house next door was blown down into our yard. She always said after that she would never live through another one. She passed away during the one in '54.

MARY ANN  one reason why I get so disgusted with myself is that there is very little I can do anymore. I was active from the time I got up in the morning till I went to bad. I like the CNA I have but she keeps telling me that she will do this or that and I tell her I have to do something or I will get so stiff the pain will be worse. I do not want to be confined to a wheelchair.I use my rollator and try every day to walk around the parking lot. There is a cut through near the emd ot the first and second rows for people to use and some days I have to use that to make the walk shorter, feel like I am cheating when I do that.

Have a good day, time to get a move on. For anyone in the path of Dorian, stay safe.

Well, I met LLOYD and NANCY in the WM parking lot and drove them to a nearby local restaurant for breakfast.  We all had a nice breakfast and then I took them on a tour of MY TOWN!  They thought it was a nice little town with all the old buildings dating back to the 1800s.  I'm always happy when someone likes MY TOWN!  Then I took them back to their RV and we had some hugs and exchanged some information and they took off heading for Route 80 and HOME.  I went home and took my doggies out and this afternoon I'm meeting my Grandniece, Bethany for a short visit.  Then home to get some "stuff" done!  All in all, a nice visit with friends!

More prayers or Michele and good wishes for a happy family future!

I have to get my list in order and then "put an egg in my boot and beat it"!

I wish you all a lovely day!

Amy and Mary Ann - my favorite rendition of,  Little Sir Echo, is the one by Guy Lombardo, from 1939. Love that vocal by Carmen or Leibert Lombardo.  A very distinctive voice!  My parents had this 78 record, and used to play it for me on the old Victrola wind up.  I must have been about four or five at the time?

Jane - Very nice that you met Lloyd and Nancy for breakfast this morning.   it would be so much fun to meet an S&F member in person!

Amy

Marilyne, I like that version also....can close your eyes and see the people gliding across the dance floor. Thank you for sharing that one.

Joy

Good morning.  I know I have been missing a couple days, but I am doing good.

I had a great report from the scans I had done last week.  The doctor was very pleased.

Jenny, still thinking about Michele, and so happy that the end of the chemo is coming to an end.  Taking a chemo pill will not be nearly as bad.  I have been on one for over 4 years, and evidently it is keeping  everything stable with no new problems.

Jane, I am so glad that you got to meet up with Lloyd and Nancy and that you had a nice breakfast visit with them .

And, yes, I, too, wish I had all the energy that Amy, Jane and Shirley have.

Gloria, I am in the same boat as you.  I get a little upset when I can't do things that I want to do. Somehow, tho, I do manage to get things done.  Might not be how it should be done, but gets done one way or another.

Phyllis,  I am pretty far inland, so the only thing my area might get, is some rain from the storm. They are calling for a nice week end.  I have been wondering about a friend I have in Hilton Head.  They were going to stay put, as she has 4 cats and it is so hard to find a place that will take the cats.  I have not heard anything from her this morning. She was more concerned about losing the power, and from the news I heard, that might be the case down her way.  I don't think they have a generator.  If it was me, they wouldn't have to tell me twice to get out.

I also have a friend up near Nags Head,, and they are staying put also.

I am having a very lazy day.  I need to get a couple chores done, but I am also reading a good book and hate to put it down.  One of my problems is that I am only responsible for me.  Sometimes I feel if I was obligated to somebody else it would make me be more active.  But, then again, it is nice not to have to  be responsible for anyone else,  Not sure if that is good or bad.

I hope everyone has a great day.

Joy

Mary Ann

I'm glad to hear that Jane, Lloyd and Nancy were able to meet for breakfast.  I'll bet Lewisburg is much different than the area where Lloyd and Nancy live so that was a new experience for them.

Marilyn, I enjoyed the "Little Sir Echo" by Guy Lombardo.  The cover said that Carmen was the vocalist.  He also sang "Singing in the Rain" and I listened to "Swinging in a Hammock" but I didn't see who the vocalist was and I'm not sure it was a Lombardo song.  That song dated to 1930 and I wasn't interested in popular songs then.

This morning Tom and I went out for lunch.  I chose New Beginnings to go to and when we walked in, there sat long-time friends.  I had three things I wanted to mention to Tom and of course, the topics went down the drain (until on the way home).  It was good to see and talk with them.  Tom and the woman did most of the conversing, talking about phones, but we covered other topics as well.  We got there about 1 pm and it was nearly 3 pm when we left.  I think we closed the restaurant because they're only open until 3 pm.

Here I am posting L A T E again, but I have quite a surprise to share with you all.  I just got off from a very delightful internet chat with Carolyn Sterling.  She called because she had seen a message that I posted on Face Book and she wanted to tell me that we are sharing some of the very same issues.  Her daughter-in-law, Raylene, is also going through chemo and she is also waiting to hear results of Nicky's husband as he has just had a bone marrow biopsy done and Nicky continues with Sjogens syndrome...sadly, I do not know what this is, so will look it up.  I did find out that the girls are at university.  Immediately their name have left my mind, but the oldest girl graduated this year, but is going on for continued education.  The younger girl, 3 1/2  years younger is trying to decide just what she wants to study.  So common for many young people today.  She is the artsy one and wants to do something that will allow her to do that also.  I so enjoyed our conversation.....here I am in Colorado and she in Auckland and we chatted just like she was next door!  I told her we had spoken of her and wished that she would come back and join in our group as she has been missed.

MARY ANN, happy you and Tom got out for a nice meal, and that you ran into a friend, but I am sorry you did not get to speak to Tom about the things you wanted to discuss.

JOY,  it makes me feel better to know that you have experience with continued use of chemo pills and feel they are not that bad....I sure hope M will find them the same as you have.  Thank you for your continued support❣️

JANE, happy the visit and tour of your town went well and Nancy and Lloyd liked your town.  How nice of you to drive them around.

MARILYNE, I had to smile at you mentioning 78 records.....I loved your little tune!  BTW, you asked about my Dad and I just want you to know he is doing pretty well.  No better pain wise, but when he is seated in his chair he can get comfortable.  He has no appetite and finds it hard to eat much at all, so continues to loose weight and he did not have any extra to loose.  He seems happy and we enjoy our daily telephone chats......thank you for asking🥰

GLORIA, it makes me sad every time you mention the apple orchard and what you used to do there....happy your son does bring you fresh apples, but sad that you do not get to go and pick HIS apples!

Pleasant dreams to all of you.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm up and about this morning but I may have to interrupt this post before I get finished because it's almost time for the "boinge" and Annie is already beginning to pester me.

I've read everything an my memory is allowing it to escape.  I do remember JENNY found our dear friend, CAROLYN and got some info on her family.  Thank you, JENNY.  And thank you for all the other family updates.  It's nice to know when prayers are being answered.

I'm sorry I don't have more time to make comments (a better memory would help, too.)

Good morning everyone, looks like it will be a nice day here, in the 60's all day with rain star ting this evening. Yesterday the weather guessers said rain early tomorrow. From what they are saying the outer islands, Cape Cod and south eastern Mass. will get the worse of it. Never know till Dorian gets away from us. I hope everyone along the Atlantic coasts stay safe.

JANE  glad you had a nice visit with Lloyd and Nancy. When my daughter got married a BIL had a movie camera and took a tape/real the wedding and the area of the church. When I first went to San Diego I brought it with me.  There was a family gathering of her in-laws and she brought it with her and her sis in law's husband was making fun of the buildings here. One of my SIL cousins by  marriage spoke up and told him off. She was born and brought up in this town. Telling him some of these buildings were here before anyone ever heard of California. Of course he was a big ole former Marine. He was wounded --in the butt- most likely running away from a battle.

MARILYNE  wow I had forgotten all about  Guy Lombardo and his orchestra. Thanks for the link.

JOY  I am getting to feel as long as I can make my bed every morning and keep dishes washed I am doing OK. My CNA keeps telling me to leave it for her to do  but I cannot just sit all the time.Have to do what I can so I don't get so stiff I cannot move.

MARY ANN  always good to see friends when you do not expect to see them.

JENNY  I remember reading Carolyn's posts about her granddaughters and how proud she was of them. Even if my son's trees were still bearing apples I would not be able to pick they anymore or help him either. I did so enjoy those years.

JANE  your fur babies are a lo of company for you and I envy you them. I would never be able to have dog here or even a cat, I wound not be able to take care of them.

AMY  gee I made it in before you!

Have a good day.

Dorian is still just off the NC coast but the effects here further inland have not been too bad.  Lots of rain and some wind but it is supposed to clear a little bit this afternoon.  Fingers crossed.  I'm so thankful that it wasn't too bad here and so sorry for the people in eastern NC who have had to go through so many of these big storms.  There have been 30 (thirty) tornadoes reported in NC that came from Dorian but none close to me.

The physical therapist will be here today.  I'm hoping that this will be the last visit.  He has given me several exercises to do that will help strengthen my lower body, legs and feet so walking and balance will be a little easier.  Here's hoping he is right.

I'm about ready to "break my fast" and then get dressed.  Although the therapist has seen me in my nightgown and house coat (first visit in the hospital and then on the day after I got home) but I don't think he needs to see that again.  :2funny:

Mary Ann

Phyllis, I have an idea therapists have seen everything, but I am with you in that I'd rather be completely dressed.  I had therapy for an arthritic shoulder a couple of years ago and nothing happened, so after two months I quit.  My shoulder hasn't gotten better, but it also has not gotten worse.  I'm happy for you that Dorian did not get to Cary.

Gloria, I hope Dorian stays away from you too.  I can make my bed each morning, but I cannot change it; Tom's friend, who cleans for us, changes my bed.  I try to put the lightweight quilt on (for looks) before the cat finds out I am in the bedroom, but if he gets there first, the quilt stays at the foot of the bed.

Radar says we might get some rain today, however, things are north of us.  It is overcast now.

Mary Ann

Amy

Good morning everyone.
Well it is still morning.....just.

I was ready to post this morning g when m y son called and we had a umm long chat:) Then I took Kyle out for his morning coffee. Just finished washing down the walls in the bathroom and cleaning the window so that job is behind me. I have a messy drawer in the kitchen and that too shall get dome.

Joy, my git up and go is going a lot more than it is getting up lately. I do what I can,get mad at myself for not being able to do more but it is what it is. Always another day.

Gloria, I did try to post but gabbed with my son for a bit. He was in Milwaukee when he called.......goodness knows where he is now.

Mary Ann ,the pea soup ,is quick I think 18 min and no soak the peas  Baked beans were about 40 min ,there again no need to soak the beans..

Phyliss,stay safe

Plus all others in the way of this hurricane .

Enjoy your day everyone.

JaneS

The last person who posted in here began her post with "Good Morning" and I'm beginning mine with "Good Night".  I hope you weren't all out dodging Dorian or the edges of his storm.  And I hope you didn't lose electricity.

I wanted to let you know that I probably won't be around tomorrow.  They took my brother (-in-law) to the hospital on Thursday.  He's home now and my daughter Cathy has volunteered to take me down there for a short visit tomorrow.  I've been missing them both and wanting to see them.  When my sister and I talke on the phone, it's at least an hour and it's never enough!  I'm not sure when we'll be back but I expect I'll be tired when we do return.  Don't worry about where I am.

I'm going to go to bed early to prepare myself for the day.  After a visit with my BIL, my I'm going to take my sister to do some grocery shopping.  She is legally blind and can't drive any more and my BIL's health doesn't let him drive.

So I'm wishing you all good night now.  I hope you all sleep peacefully and the storm doesn't reach you.  And I hope you wake to NO damage and NO storm tomorrow.

Shirley

Jane, best wishes for a good visit with your sister & BIL.... I think I know how you feel, like my trip to MO last week, it was just time to see them. Wish them good days ahead for me, I will think of them (and you) in my prayers. God knows by now that I have a routine plea for good days for everyone in here because "you deserve good days".... Safe trip.

I kind of out did myself today & am struggling to stay awake. I drained the tanks of fresh water & the "gray" water (I don't use the black water tank... ::)  )...put the slide out & cleaned/mopped the floor & got the old buggy ready for the next trip. I put the awning out to sun dry, it did still have some moisture rolled up in it.

Then I took 4 of the throw rugs that Ms Callie had marked to claim when I bought them in new... yes, she did! Sprayed them with Dawn & used the jet spray to hose them off, they can take a couple days to dry (if they don't blow away). Since they were new, they all look nice & clean. I have been careful to get Callie out before she thinks about what is hers! Poor old girl, I just can't be mean to her, she shows signs of being pretty old & is so grateful when I go out & walk with her. She is first to go down to the river with me at night & just talks like I'm supposed to understand.

Gloria, I wrote down the name of the cream I keep seeing advertised on TV....got to go get the paper, good thing I wrote it down. Oh, my, that trip across the room was bent over all the way & back. This body is rebelling~~  The name is Hempvana..I will Google (& know you will, too)... no idea what it costs. Wishing always to find something to help your back besides just pain pills that quit working after a while.

Mary Ann, I was brushing Tom today & thinking about your boy ... does he like to be brushed?  Tiger doesn't care about it, she will walk off, but Tom will lay & roll over as long as I brush. When I lay the brush on the floor I discovered if I hold it place with my toes he will rub his chin over & over on the bristles. I found this new one at the Dollar Tree (where everything is a dollar)... is the old fashioned type bristle. I bought one on Amazon that had a push button that pulled the wire bristles down so the hair just rubs off, but he doesn't like that one. Wish there was some way to post a video of how he turns his head to make sure I don't miss any part of his chin or anything.

Amy, every job you mention doing or needs doing, I just roll my eyes & admit mine are yelling for help, too. I don't recall volunteering for these jobs back when we got married, do you????

Joy, glad you got a good report on the scans. I think it was you that mentioned taking a daily "chemo" type pill?  My brother in law has been taking them for years & he has never mentioned any side effects. "They" have come a long way from the early days of treatments.

Phyllis, hope your exercises help & you keep up with the good work, maybe work up a sweat since winter is coming on.  ;D  You will have to put up with us winter lovers doing a happy dance, and do all the griping you want, you've had to put up with my whining all summer!

Jenn, glad your father is doing okay. Are they able to use the UBER drivers to bring food that sounds good or does he still like to get out to drive?  My tastes change all the time & get tired of something & can't choke it down. I haven't had Eggos for probably more than a year & all of a sudden they sound good. I may fix a couple before I go to bed. Crazy, huh?

My bones are having a fit about sitting here so long, guess I'd better take some vitamins tonight & hope they do their magic overnight. Another week end, sure seems like they come around quick & still not any closer to fall. Really hot & humid again today. I guess it was a short week with Monday being a holiday. Sweet dreams to all and God Bless.

Amy

Good morning everyone..

Dull day here with hopes of getting more rain. No laundry hung today.

Ceiling fans are on my list today before  I take the ladder back out to the garage plus bake some pies with the pastry I made yesterday.
Also made tea biscuits  plain and some with raisins, will put some in the hidey hole along with raspberry jam or zucchini marmalade.

Jane, safe trip for you and Cathy, to see your brother, I know how special he is to you.

Shirley, no we didn't sign up for all these jobs but.....maybe we did......is this the for better or worse???
You had a full day yesterday, hope you can take it a bit easy today.

Better get a move on here, have a trip to the dump and I like to go in at the beginning as we may see bears!

Good morning every one, not raining here yet and was looking out the window and even the wind isn't bad. I have seen the trees moving more on other days. I did notice that the maples at the back of the parking lot are getting a touch of color at the tops, not much, just not as green as they have been.
On local news they showed the coast and the surf is really rough, haven't seen such big waves since the last hurricane that was close. Everyone has been told to stay out of the water but some who think they can do as they want are playing in the water and a few surfers are in the water. It is going out to low tide now, too. They said at high tide the waves were coming  over the storm wall and over the roads. Once again I am glad I live as far from the shore as possible in this state.

PHYLLIS  after the surgery on my right shoulder the PT I had was here late morning and I was still in nightgown and robe. At that time I was unable to get dressed as the arm was in a sling and I was told not to move it for a week.

MARY ANN  the last time I changed the sheets myself it took most of the day. Had to keep sitting down to rest. I thought I would get a head start for the CNA I had at the time but she never showed up. I called the company and she never called in there either. Since then the ones I have had have been good but the one I have now is the best even is she is a "motor mouth"

AMY  I woke later this morning than I have in months, now just after 8 feels  like I am behind on every thing I have been doing every morning. For me I can get "off track" easy these days.

JANE  sorry your BIL was in the hospital again. OK I for one will not expect  to see you till you get here again. Have a safe trip.

SHIRLEY  I have looked up CBD online and there is so much about it and so many places to buy it online that it is confusing. I have some a CNA told me about more than a year ago gut it did nothing for me. I even tried horse liniment-many people use that for pain-but it works for a few days after my CNA uses it for a back massage but after that nothing I tried so far has helped. I read about CBD oil but my fingers are not strong enough to squeeze the bulb on the dropper. I know when I see my doc in a couple of weeks I am going to tell her I want off those pain pills. Might as well take a couple of aspirin when the pain gets bad.    ROFLAL  we whiners complaining about summer heat and oh so happy when winter gets here.. I needed that laugh.

AMY  my son called last night to find out if I needed anything today when he comes. I said no and then he asked -how about some apples from the farm OK. I sure have been longing for some bought piecrust.

Have a good day.

I used to tell Tom that if I had realized that cleaning toilets was part of the marriage contract I might have thought a little bit longer before I said "I will".  ;)

It is a beautiful morning here.  We had no damage from Dorian except some small branches and leaves down.  The NC Outer Banks and Coastal areas weren't so lucky.  It is a mess out there.

My legs are a little sore.  The PT made me work a little harder yesterday.  I keep telling myself that it is for my own good.

Jane, safe trip to see your sister and bil.  Hope you find them doing a little better today.

Amy, will you please come cook for me?  And, please be careful about being up on the ladder.  Dust up that high can't be seen and nobody knows about it but you....and you can just ignore it if you try hard enough.   ::)

No plans for today.  Will do whatever I feel like doing.

Take care, All.

Phyllis, cleaning toilets must be done whether you're married or not.  I don't do a good job of it but I take the toilet bowl cleaner and squirt along the under side of the bowl and let the liquid go down to the water and there is sits until the next time.  I don't have much mobility to get down on my knees or do any scrubbing so I take it as it comes.  I'm glad Dorian left you alone.  We haven't heard from Johann in Myrtle Beach yet.

Gloria, we don't have the extensive color that New England has, but we do have a lot of color, mostly from the maples and evergreens together.  I used to visit Tom and Sue in October when they lived at Boyne City and the drive north of Cadillac was so pretty with the reds, oranges, yellows and greens.  We have color around here too.

Shirley, Kendrick doesn't seem crazy about being brushed.  I don't do it but his "mother" (Annie) does and gets out a lot of hair.  He tolerates it and when he's had enough, he gets up and leaves.  He loves attention, however.

I think we'll have a very comfortable day today.  It's 65 degrees and no rain in sight.  I'll let Kendrick out on the deck, in fact, I think I can leave the doors open.

Good afternoon.  It has been another lazy day.  Haven't done much. When I have a good book to read, I can be very lazy.  Almost time for supper.

Last night I had ordered delivery from a local place and I have 1/2 cheese steak sub and some fried onion rings left over for dinner.  I am thinking of putting them in the oven to heat up, as I don't like bread heated in the nmicrowave.

Amy, I sure don't think you have anything wrong with your "Get up and go".   You could run rings around me  with everything you do.  I never would be able to get up on a ladder to dust the ceiling fan.  In another house we had a couple and I had a long handled duster.  I don't do very much deep cleaning anymore.   Just enough to keep the dust down. LOL  I really need to get the vacuum out and push it around a bit.

It has been a very pretty day, and I should have gone down to sit outside for a little while, but I got engrossed in my book.

Gloria, I can still change the sheets on my bed, but I only have a single bed, so it is pretty easy.

Lloyd, glad the you made it home safely. What a shame that Nancy was ready to come home.  I am sure there were a lot of places you could have seen after traveling so far.  I know what it is like getting an RV ready to take on the road, and I sure always wanted to stay away as long as we could.  The year my husband retired, we spent over 2 months on the road and went to so many places across the country.  We even took a mule trip down into the Grand Canyon.  We almost made it to the West coast, and so sorry that we didn't.  We had the time, but just thought we would make another trip.  But, that never happened. So, you should see as much as you can while you are still able to.

It is almost time to start heating up my dinner, so I better close this for now.

Hope everyone has a nice evening.

A good Saturday HELLO to EVERYFRIEND!  I just lost my post in Norm's Bait and Tackle, as Mark Face Timed me....but I sure enjoyed seeing and talking to Mark and Jonah, though🥰

Yesterday Jonah turned 9 months old!  How that is possible I do not know!  Time just passes much too quickly.  He is standing up on his own and tries to take a few steps, but Stil struggling a little bit.  He is such a cutie🥰🥰

We had a terrible storm here yesterday afternoon.....lots of flooding rain, and hail.  It pretty much demolished all of my beautiful plants😩😢. We hope there is not any roof damage.  At one point the Weatherguessers said we had 3" in 45 minutes, but I never heard the official amount here.  Several roads flooded and they even had to rescue a couple of different cars during the flooding very near to us🙀

We have a big mess to clean up on our patio, but we are waiting for it to dry out a bit more before we d.

Bob is watching college football ........ Colorado is playing Nebraska and they are beating us😫

Yesterday I discovered a library book that I really wanted to read was DUE, so I spent most of the day and night reading it!  It was so good, I could hardly put it down.  WHERE THE CRAWDADS SING
Seems everyone that has read it says it is fantastic, and I totally agree!

LLOYD, happy you are once again home safe and sound, but sorry you are not still out enjoying your time away.

JOY, sadly we always have hopes of doing another trip in the future, but our plans do not always work out😢. You make a good point that we should do all we can when we have the opportunity as it may not come around again.

SHIRLEY, you just wear me out reading all you have been doing........you too, AMY!  We are both wearing down fast.....seems we just can not keep up well with the daily stuff let alone the EXTRA stuff.  We desperately need to spend some time in our garage.....it is a real disaster area!

JANE, safe travel for you and Cathy today.  I am sorry your BIL is not feeling well.

GLORIA, you are right in that there are SO MANY kind of CBD's out there, and it is confusing.  They are very popular now and everyone seems to offer them for sale.  Wish someone could help you find something that might help with your pain.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Well I was half finished and backspaced to correct something and the whole post disappeared!

Once more.... My sister let us know that they were not at the hospital.  They had sent JIM home after doing some adjustment to his heart monitor, a couple of tests and hydrating him.  He has an appointment for more tests on Tuesday so we'll see.  He looked much better than I expected him to look and he said he felt a LOT better than he had on Thursday.

Cathy stayed at the house and I took my sister to do some grocery shopping which she needed to do.  That way, we didn't need to worry about Jim and Cathy could rest before driving home again.  Jim was wearing the tee shirt that I sent him for Christmas.  It's bright blue and says in BIG letters. "WORLD'S GREATEST BROTHER".  When I gave it to him I told him that's exactly what his been to me ever since Margie brought him home.  I always wanted a "big brother" and he's definitely IT!

Now, my job for tomorrow afternoon is doing a bit of laundry and finishing the canning of the already made spaghetti sauce.  Until Cathy volunteered to take me down for a visit, that was my plan for today.  It's so easy to put things off these days.

AMY, we were both on a stepladder today.  The light in my hall burned out and I had to replace it....and wash the glass covering inside and out.  Please don't tell Cathy I was on a ladder!  She always gives me that LOOK!

I wish you all a peaceful night and a happy tomorrow.  God be with you, one and all!

Shirley

Haha, Jane, I am really laughing at Cathy giving you "THE LOOK" ... and where did she learn that?  ;D  Used to be that was all it took to shape them up. Hate to admit, my great grands don't know what NO is & if they do something really bad, they will take themselves to a time out corner & smile at Mom & Dad. Andy got me a safe ladder to use in the house for Chtistmas... I think it only has about 5 or 6 steps & kind of hand rail on the side. Can't believe how much I use it.

Jenn, that Jonah is darling! Still think he looks like you. Sadly he will be judged by his size & people will wonder why he isn't in school when he is 2 or 3. That's the way Andy was. 5 years between Andy & older sister and he wore her Carter's jammies with the feet in when she outgrew them. My youngest great gr-daughter in Seattle is just as big & ahead of her age, she weighs more than my sister did when she started school & just turned 2. Sorry about the flowers getting beat up in the storm. Our June 18th hail convinced me not to plant anything else. I do have some Crape Myrtle that has gone crazy in my "starter hole"... a place in the pool area the original owners left a circle out of the concrete with the best soil I ever saw. Anything planted in it grows beyond belief in nothing flat. Not sure this year old crape myrtle will even be able to transplant in the fall but got to get it out of that circle. Have a start in the front of the house a year older & doesn't compare with the size of the new stuff. I don't have a green thumb but have good luck with trees & shrubs.

Joy, we did make it to the west coast & north to Seattle, Olympic Nat'l Forest & drove down the coast highway until mid CA. Gorgeous trip except from Wichita to the NW & home, we were gone only 8 days. Crazy. He was always eager to get home, would go because he knew I'd go without him... or afraid I would. Finally we called a truce & decided he wouldn't go camping & grip the whole time with me & I wouldn't follow him around the golf course & grip about the heat & how boring it was.  ;D  Now I don't go but "a state away", mainly because nearly every trip something goes wrong with RVs...

Lloyd, glad you made it home safe & sound. Was it much trouble pulling the car behind?  I don't think I am strong enough anymore to lift the tow bar off... my little Buick needs to be on a dolly & would be heavy lifting off & on, even with the cranks & wheelies. I am pretty content to stay in the RV except when my sons are along & have a car to run around in. They sleep in his camper but eat in mine or we go out to eat.

Guess I need to turn out the lights, it's still HOT here tonight. Sure be glad when it gets down in the 50s at night so I can open the door for sleeping. Sweet dreams for all, God Bless.  Shirley

Amy

Good morning everyone..

Not calling for rain but it sure looks like it.Tis ok we can use all the rain before freeze up.

A day of rest here today. Laundry was hung on the line and dried yesterday in between showers! Made a pot of baked beans 1 hr 20 min no soaking of beans in the IP. Where was this gadget when we were working and coming home dog tired???

Shirley, I loved camping, relaxed way of life and just enjoying every moment. Kyle saw a fox in our yard at 12:00 am... think he/she is the one that took off with the corn on the cob.

Jane ,happy to see your brother is home and feeling much better now. Enjoy your canning today..Mom's the word on the ladder:)

Jenny Jonah is so cute, you just want to hug him !! Maybe your plants will survive this beating, give them a chance
before pulling them out.

Lloyd, glad you and Nancy are back home safe and sound. Maybe next trip Nancy will feel more like staying out longer...give her a chance to get used to this. You both are hard workers and now is the time to enjoy your life.

Joy, you supper sounds perfect to me. We don't do long distance traveling anymore. Used to camp, one time we were away from home 33 days, went across Canada up to the Yukon and Alaska then came home through the upper part of the States. Loved every moment of it.

Better get a move on here.

Enjoy your day everyone..
