Marilyn and Jackie - it must be my computer then.  What I have is a message from Marilyn but at the left where our information is - name and other information is Jackie's picture.  Below is the message.  My computer has been acting funny of late, but I've never had anything like that happen before.  When I copied it, Jackie's name and info would not copy with the rest.  Mary Ann

Denver

It has been a long day waiting for the news on Michele.
Unfortunately it was not the news we wanted to hear😩
The tumor in the lung is much smaller, so the chemo has worked, but now there is a pea size spot on her spine.  She will see the radiation oncologist tomorrow to find out if they can radiate this spot on the spine, and what the plan is for the lung.  Her chemo oncologist thinks that radiation is not necessary, but he is the only one.  She will continue on the chemo pills, and will probably do so for the rest of her life😤

It is of course scary that now it might be in the bone.......

Michele is in good spirits.....bless her heart🙏

More prayers needed good friends.......thank you for your continued support❣️

Good Evening,

Jenny, not the news you wanted to hear and prayers will certainly increase for Michelle.

I enjoyed last night's Country Music program but I wish a bit more time had been spent on the singing cowboys of the movies.
The first fan letter I wrote was to Roy Rogers and I remember finding the reply (with an autographed picture) propped on the dining room table for me to find.  Excitement reigned!

The Oklahoma town named for Gene Autry turned its no longer used high school into a museum for Singing Cowboys.

My Bridge Foursome visited it  on one of our two-day jaunts and thoroughly enjoyed seeing the collections.  It's kind of "out of the way" but fun to see.

It's been a busy day.  Went to a Book Club discussion and then took the friend who picks me up for these and other organizational meetings out to lunch.  We went to Pepperoni Grill and had panini sandwiches along with tomato basil soup.  I may skip dinner!

Oops- Country Music has started.  Off I go.....

Enjoy your evening, Everyfriend

Jenny, I 'm thinking of Michele and hope she finally has some good news coming after all the bad.

Joy, June Carter Cash died in May 2003.

Hi Callie!

I'm sorry if my post was confusing, Vitamin D is for Seasonal Affective Disorder or SAD.

"Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) - Symptoms and causes ...
[Search domain www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/seasonal-affective-disorder/symptoms-causes/syc-20364651] https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/seasonal-affective-disorder/symptoms-causes/syc-20364651
Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) is a type of depression that's related to changes in seasons — SAD begins and ends at about the same times every year. If you're like most people with SAD, your symptoms start in the fall and continue into the winter months, sapping your energy and making you feel moody."

Most of the time, it is a deficiency of Vitamin D. You need to have your levels checked as it is not a water-based vitamin such as vitamin C and you don't want to overdose. However many, (Not all, MaryAnn!); people who live in Northern areas with long winters can have this. I do or did. I take a low amount, 1000 units of the vitamin during the summer and take 2400 units in the winter. People were telling me to buy expensive unique lamps or take dubious meds or home health remedies. I went in for blood tests and had virtually no Vitamin D in my system. The supplement cured my symptoms.

Marilyne, the low dose prescribed plus your location, leads me to believe it was the ostro and not SAD that you had problems with. Your body likes you, and I'm jealous! My body keeps finding these sneaky little hitmen.  ::)

angelface555

Now, the reason I just started taking magnesium three days ago was for severe symptoms that I had all summer along with my osteoarthritis. I had this along with strep. I wasn't sure if it was a result of the ostro or a blood clot as my legs and hip had severe pains and spasms and often felt if they were asleep after sitting for a short while or upon awakening.

This went on through all the smoke from the fires and then the relentless rains and I was very depressed over what it could mean. Dora pushed and pulled me into a doctor's visit and blood tests and my body, (traitor that its become); was magnesium deficient.  I still have the osteoarthritis, but the spasms and accompanying pain have disappeared mainly after only three days.

The folic acid I take because I'm sensitive to iron or ferrous sulfate. They won't take my blood donations as I have no iron in my caplets and to have blood drawn is an experience, using a size twenty needle and having me dangle my arm low and wiggle my fingers. If I don't do this, my blood hides. When I was last in the hospital, a nurse actually asked me if her son, who was training to be a phlebotomist, could come and observe. He was very interested in my blood draws, and now I know how a lab rat feels.

Mary Ann

Patricia, we often say it is good we are all different, but sometimes it would be nice if we could be more alike in some ways.  I have taken D for several years and I think I began to take it on my own because I read something about "bone" in the description.  I also take calcium.  The calcium was at the suggestion of my then doctor after I broke my leg in 1983.  I don't take much "on my own", only if a doctor suggests it - and tells me why.  I do not have SAD.  I also am not depressed, although I might get a bit "blue" on a day.  I would say I am fortunate in that respect.

Jenny, I am so sorry to hear of Michele's further problem.  Her cheerful attitude will get her further, but how far no one knows.  As you've said, she is a fighter.

Tom just got home from Holland and said it was very warm on the beach - 84 degrees.  That is hard to believe because it is 70 degrees here now.  But the sun was shining this afternoon and it is not shining here now.

From yesterday -
Quote from: Marilyne on September 17, 2019, 11:16:52 AMMary Ann - I took note of your message yesterday, that the date marked 77 years from when you started your job with consumer Power. That is so nice that you stayed for your whole working career.  I'm sure you have a nice retirement, if it's as good as the utility companies here in California.  We had a couple of friends who worked their entire lives for PG&E, (Pacific Gas and Electric), and always said the weekly paycheck wasn't that great, but it paid off well in retirement!
That PG&E pension may not be that secure.  I worked for NY Tel/Nynex/Bell Atlantic/ Verizon.  Retired from Verizon but now Verizon has sold our Pensions to an Insurance Company so now our pensions are no longer Government protected. If the Insurance Co goes under so does our "pensions". Never was a COLA either. Since Verizon "invented" what they call Derisking, several other big companies have done the same thing and more are "signing on" all the time. You can no longer find a company you devote your career to that gives a hoot about your future.
It's the WINDMILLS

JENNY -
I'm so very sorry to see the bad news about Michele.  I know they will keep addressing these new tumors, when or if they show up, and we will all pray that eventually they will stop showing up!!  As you said, the spine is not a good place, but no place is good, when it comes to that nasty hateful cancer!  I know Michele is strong and determined, and will face the future with courage and hope!  We are all praying for her complete remission!

Rick, Mary Ann, Patricia and Callie - I'll respond to your messages in the morning.  Right now it's close to 8:00, so time for the Country Music documentary.
Callie - I left you a message in the TV folder, about last night's show.

Marilyne,  saw that and repeated my answer there.

...reading your posts on Michelle is like reading our Karren's in the Soda Shoppe room a few years back, ( our Bubbles sister ) almost daily heartbreaking postings on her c***er fight, i think we all remember her ups and downs, her highs and her lows... sadly her final outcome was not what we wanted...
Oh i so hope and pray they stop your Michelles c**er from doing anymore damage... She is young, she should be out enjoying her young life, not having to fight for it...

"Hundreds of computer servers worldwide that store patient X-rays and MRIs are so insecure that anyone with a web browser or a few lines of computer code can view patient records. One expert warned about it for years.

Medical images and health data belonging to millions of Americans, including X-rays, MRIs, and CT scans, are sitting unprotected on the internet and available to anyone with basic computer expertise.

The records cover more than 5 million patients in the U.S. and millions more around the world. In some cases, a snoop could use free software programs — or just a typical web browser — to view the images and private data, an investigation by ProPublica and the German broadcaster Bayerischer Rundfunk found."

"We found that some systems used to archive medical images also lacked security precautions. Denver-based Offsite Image left open the names and other details of more than 340,000 human and veterinary records, including those of a large cat named "Marshmellow," ProPublica found. An Offsite Image executive told ProPublica the company charges clients $50 for access to the site and then $1 per study. "Your data is safe and secure with us," Offsite Image's website says."

FlaJean

It is still hot in our area, but it should start cooling down soon.

Rammel, the company I worked for sold our pensions this year to an insurance company.  Got a notice the other day that said they would be checking periodically to make sure employees were still alive.  I was kind of surprised at that notice that was included with other information.

Mary Ann, I hope you have a very nice weekend and a comfortable car ride there and back.

Jenny, I'm so sorry to hear about Michele and can only hope things get better.

Angel, my doctor upped my 1000 units of Vitamin D3 to 2000 units earlier this year as it was still low.  I used to get outside more.  I have read that magnesium is more important to our bodies than people realize.  Those blood tests are important.  It's good to know you are feeling better.

Joy, this is a nice time of year in your area.  Gigi and Jeff had really had a nice time on their vacation in D.C. and they also got over to the Aquarium in Baltimore.  A cold front had come in and they missed the hot weather.  Seeing her pictures made me a little nostalgic.

Have a good day everyone.

angelface555

Jean, I was so sick this past summer that I rarely got out of bed except to move to the couch. I attributed everything to differing barometric pressure and my arthritis. Or something more serious like a blood clot. I never imagined a vitamin or mineral deficiency. For someone who believed they were aware, it has been a humble awakening.

I'm glad you and your doctor are paying attention. I learned that for some older people, their bodies find it increasingly hard to store some vitamins and minerals. And the majority are as I was unaware until the symptoms become worse or they attributed it to age.

Marilyne

I hope everyone is feeling as well this morning, as can be expected.  Seems I get up with an annoying health complaint every day, but fortunately whatever it is, seems to resolve itself over the course of the day.  I've been thinking a lot about Michele, since reading Jenny's message yesterday.  When something unexpected and unfortunate happens to a young person, I always wonder, "why them, and not me?" I'm at the end of my life anyway so it would be natural - but younger people still have an entire life to live and children to raise.  I'm hoping we will know the answers someday?

Patricia - I'm thinking that no one in the world, would be interested in my MRI's, scans, or health records, except for doctors who treat me, or will treat me in the future.  The only way it would be a problem, is for people who are in the spotlight, like celebrities, politicians, etc?  I guess I'm
not understanding why a snoopy techie, would be interested in the average "man on the street"?

Mary Ann - I guess you'll be leave tomorrow morning for Indy?  I hope you take some pictures, so we can get a better idea of where you are and who you're with.  If you get a chance, I would love to see a picture of the quads!  It's probably unlikely that you will see them all together, now that they're all grown up, but if possible, take a picture of any you happen to see while you're there.  :)

Marilyne

RICK - you are correct!  The PG&E retirement pension that I mentioned yesterday, is no longer secure!  Earlier this summer, PG&E declared bankruptcy, and filed for the second time in the past couple of years. Reason being, that the company is being sued by thousands of people/familys/landownders and businesses here in Northern California, as a result of the catastrophic wildfires that have occurred the past couple of years.  It seems that even though the fires are considered to be an "act of nature" . . . a combination of hot Eastern winds that pick up extreme speed as they  move over the Sierra Mountain range, and into the communities.  The winds are so fierce that they break wires, and knock down poles, and the resulting sparks, start the fires.

Anyway, long story short, PG&E is taking the blame, for not keeping up with or securing the wires better.  So of course, retired employees are extremely nervous about their retirement benefits. All those former employees that we have known over the years, will likely not be as happy as they originally were, when the lawsuits are settled, and PG&E is taken over by new utility companies.

Marilyne, besides the medical info that can be sensitive or potentially damaging info about private medical issues, there are also passwords, social security numbers, credit card accounts, names, phone numbers, and addresses that could be used for blackmail, bank or identity theft, or other crimes. If you or someone in your family had a private medical, drug-related, or legally mandated medical visit or psychiatric episode, would you want it made public? Or made out to be something it wasn't?

Joy

Good afternoon.

It is a beautiful warm fall day here in Central Maryland.  I FINALLY got around to sitting outside in the beautiful sunshine.  It was a little cool in the shade, but the in the sun, it was wonderful.  I was out there for almost 3 hours and hated to come in.  But, I hadn't had any lunch, and I needed a drink.

There were about 6 or 8 of us sitting out and   we always try to solve all the world's problems, but that never seems to happen.  One of the ladies who always has good funny stories to tell came in with her son, and she always can keep us all laughing.   I always can depend on hearing the latest news.  Seems there are 5 or 6 residents who will be leaving.  And then there are always the ones who complain about everything.  All in all, it always seems to be a nice group that does sit out.

I was sorry to read about Michele's latest reports. She has a good outlook and that is always good.  Hope that the place on her spine can be taken care of.

Marilyne and Callie,  I realty enjoyed the Music show last night.  More of the singers that I was familiar with.  It really is a good series. Last night it was more singing than in the previous ones.  Patsy Cline was always a favorite.

I had watched the America's Got Talent earlier and the blind, autistic young man was the winner.  I think most people thought he would be the one who would win. There were several who could have won.  The little girl who sang opera, and the young boy who played the violin.  They both were fantastic.  I would hope that some of the ones who were in the finals might still would get noticed by other producers or people who could help them further their careers.

I was able to watch the Music documentary because they repeat it again. So, I got to see both AGT and the documentary. Of course, I didn't go to bed until after midnight, but that is about what time I usually go.

I am really feeling a lot better today than I have for a few days. A little more energy and I did get a couple things accomplished earlier.  My main goal for today was to make it outside.  And, I DID !

The weather is supposed to be good for the next week or so.  My son has a big family/friends party on the 28th, and the long range forecast sounds great.  Of course, that can change, but so far it is looking good.  He has about 200 people and it is always so nice to see friends and family who we don't see much.  The kids always have a good time, as my son has a horse farm and they get to ride the horses.  Plus some other activities and lots and lots of good food. He supplies the drinks and the hot dogs and hamburgers, and everyone else brings a dish.  Lots of varieties.   I am hoping that my grand daughter and her family will come down from Connecticut.  She thinks they are, but I am never always so sure. The aunts always look forward to seeing all the little ones, plus the older nieces and nephews, too. This will be the 30th + year he has had it.  And, each year it gets bigger.  He has  30 + acres, so it is plenty of room for everybody.  A really fun day !

Mary Ann, I sure hope you have a nice weekend and that the weather will be nice for the trip back and forth. So happy that you decided to go.  It is always nice to have a change of scenery, even if it is for a short time/  Have fun !!!

I hope everyone of the friends here will have a great evening.

Joy
BIG BOX

Mary Ann

Joy, while I seem to have picked a bad weekend for both Toms, things will work out.  There may be a gap Monday between the time Tom H leaves and Tom T arrives but I can get something to eat in the meantime.

I turned on the TV this afternoon and nothing happened so Tom took over trying to get it to work.  He couldn't so a serviceman will be coming Tuesday.  I won't be here to miss it and to tell the truth, I don't watch much over the weekend anyway.  Just golf!

My packing is still not finished, but I know what I want to take so everything will get packed.  I did take several pictures of the kids in the family and put them on a flash drive.  They are all on my computer but on the flash drive, they're all in one place; on the computer, they are not.

Marilyn, I doubt I'll take many pictures because we won't go anywhere scenic.  As for the quads, they are 28 years old and I don't feel that I should put their pictures online without their approval. I am sure if you find them in Facebook, you will find many pictures.  I have no idea what names they use, but their first names are:  Claire, Ted, Steve and Mary.  Feel free to look.

It is warm out and in, so I shut the doors and the a/c has gone on.  It's kind of funny to run the heat and a/c the same month.

I don't know if I mentioned Annie's SO's father died and the funeral is Monday, which is why Tom might not get to Merrillville when Tom H has to leave.  I think the father had been ill, so it was not a surprise.

Supper will be about 7 pm tonight, according to the cook.

Almost time to head off to bed.

I thank you all so much for your kind and loving comments about Michele.  She did go see the radiation oncologist today and he does want to radiate the tumor on her spine, as well as the spot on the lung.  He wanted her to wait until after the kiddos have their fall break in a couple of weeks, but she wants this done ASAP.  They are on hold until the insurance company gives them the OK.

MARILYNE, how sweet of you to comment about why the young Person with responsibilities is the one with this awful cancer, and I have thought the same thing.  I even think about some of the not so nice people that are just wasting their lives away and admit I ask God why?  I know this is not how I should feel about it, but I do.

JACKIE, of course I remember our sweet little Karren and the grief she went through with her awful cancer.  I met her at the NY/ Pennsylvania Bash, and she was so sweet.  She gave me her American Flag pin that she had and I was so appreciative.  Now I truly feel bad to have to ask this, but you said she is Bubbles sister?  If so, I am sorry to say that I never knew this!

PATRICIA, you really did have a very long stint of not feeling well and I think it is great that you looked into other vitamins to help strengthen your body.

I feel bad for all that have commented about their retirements being sold to insurance companies. My husbands retirement funds we always thought to be one of the best ever, and yet they have reneged on many things that he and others were promised.  He is retired Bell Systems, U S West.  Like you RAMMEL, we were Mountain States TEL and TEL, then US West to Qwest then Century Link.  I regret the day that divestiture tore apart a perfectly good company.

I did manage to get my hair cut today, and I feel like a new person.  I always dread getting it done, but then I am so happy after it is done!

Yesterday a nasty Öl Squirrel decided to destroy one of my plush seat cushions on my out door furniture.  I am NOT happy about it, of course, but the damage is done.  Today he came back and tore it up some more. 😩😤

MARY ANN, sorry you have to get a TV repairman to come out to look at your TV.  I HOPE it can be fixed.  Safe travel to you....enjoy your visit in Indy.

JOY, the annual party your son does every year sounds delightful.

I must say goodnight.....pleasant dreams to all.

...Bubble will put us right if she reads this post, I am sure they were related..I am sure they were sisters, or half sister...
Oh yes she always came across on our forum as " so sweet.." i too have very fond memories of how she tried to help me, she was another just like our Larry Hanna, always there at the other end as and when needed, via email of course...both genuinely lovely people...

How blessed you two were in meeting up together...I too will fondly remember our meet-up, although wished we had of had more time ( we had to get that Greenline coach connection ) as never to be repeated again in our lifetime...although my late father would have said to me...." never say never " girl....

Mary Ann

Jenny, the most we can do is continue our positive thoughts for Michele.  I, too, often wonder when a needed young person dies or gets some bad illness, "and here I sit".

I have showered and shampooed this morning and I'm now drying off.  I'm almost all packed.  Tom is having his Bible study and when he returns, I'll finish packing and I'll be all dressed.  We plan to leave about 11 or 11:30 am and get a bite to eat on the way south.  Plans are to meet about 3 pm.

Jenny, I think our TV trouble is not in the set itself, but in something with the modem or connection.  On the other hand - who knows!

My next post should come from Indy but I don't know if it will be this evening or in the morning.  We are to have a pizza party Sunday evening with Tom's brother's family.  We will be at Tom's.  My great-niece, Erin, may show up but she's going to be camping this weekend and was unsure about when they would get back.  I can see her sometime when she visits her mother in GR.

Concerning Karren, she and Monte lived for many years in Fairbanks where I knew them from. Bubble was actually the one who arranged for us to meet about the time MaryAnn was here in Fairbanks on her trip. Karren and Bubble had been online friends long before that but are not related.

Jenny, I'm sorry Michele has had to go through this. My dad had colon cancer and my mother breast, but all three of us girls had colon cancer from DNA. My daughter's tumor was caused by a skin cell ending up in the brain.

MaryAnn, your yearly Indy trip is really making me rethink the October Anchorage trip! Today I'm off to lunch with some folks to discuss logistics as our number has swelled to twelve.

A Good Friday night HELLO.

This day sure seemed to pass quickly😍

Brian, our youngest son brought us a delicious chicken sandwich for lunch from Shake Shack. We sure did enjoy it.  He brought Oliver Doodle over as he will be staying with us for the next two weeks while Brian and Cathy are in Asia.  He always has something to help Bob with when he is here.  Today he had to help with some issue on the internet to help Bob be able to watch special football games! (Like he needs MORE of them to watch!🙀)

This afternoon we had to go and watch the local high school homecoming parade as our grandson was on one of the floats.  It really was a nice parade and it does the heart good to see young kids looking so happy as they smiled and cheered their way along the route.

I hope MARY ANN had a safe drive to Indy, and she enjoyed a nice evening visiting.

JACKIE, I can understand why you thought Bubble and Karren were sisters....that is what you read.  I must have been a bit off last night because I was confused Karren and and Judy from Guelph with each other when I said I met Karren at the PA Bash.  It was Judy, and it is Judy that gave me the American Flag pin.  Karren and I communicated a lot and I sure felt sad for her horrible battle with cancer.  She was a wonderful lady.  I thought I heard that Monte had passed away also, but I am not sure.

PATRICIA, I am sorry to read your comment that all three siblings had colon cancer from DNA  and then your daughters was  brain cancer caused from a skin cell.  I would like to know more about this if you do not mind my asking this of you?

You all have a Good Night of Rest, and pleasant dreams to all.

Patricia, is it because you three had DNAs alike and like a parent's that you all had colon cancer?

Jenny,  I take it that Brian is going to help Bob and not Oliver Doddle.  Reread your post and laugh.

Patricia, is 12 a good number to make the trip to Anchorage?  Or do you want more?  If the weather is OK, I think it would be a good time to go there.  I was there in August, so I don't know when the weather changes.

Go, if you possibly can.

I had a good trip to Indy.  Tom and I got to Merrillville IN and Tom H sent a message he would not be here until 3:30, a hour later.  Tom T and I had a piece of pie ala mode and waited.  The restaurant was not busy and the server knew Tom H would be late, so no problem.  Tom H arrived and had pie ala mode also.  They switched my luggage and we departed.  We got to Indy about 6 pm, unloaded the car and went to a restaurant where Tom H's brother, Bob, was waiting.  We had a good visit and eventually we broke up.  Tom H and I talked a while before heading for bed.

I met the two cute kittens and are they ever lively!  I brought a cat toy with me,  one that Kendrick ignored, and the kittens took to it.  They'd come over to me and stay just long enough to let me pet them once.  The kittens are brothers and look much alike, but the stripes are just different enough to be able to tell them apart.

I slept OK last night but I feel the need for a nap.  Tom will be gone some in the afternoon and I'll be able to take one then.  I'll have him put the kids upstairs where they are in the upstairs bedroom and bath and where the litter box is with food and water.

Tonight I will be going to supper with a friend of Tom's.

MARY ANN - It was good to see your message first thing this morning!  Looks like you're all settled in for a couple of days, and that the trip to Indy was pleasant, with a longer stop inn between than usual.  I know you'll have a nice time with the family, and with those two cute kittens.  It's always refreshing to have a short vacation away from home and the usual routine.

PATRICIA - Like Jenny,  I'm also interested in the fact that you and your two sisters, all had colon cancer, as well as one parent?  Looks like things will not bode well for my three adult children in the future?  Both AJ and I had surgery for malignant colon polyps.  Neither was called a tumor, but would have become tumors if not discovered early.  Only one of our three kids - Brad, has had a colonoscopy.  The two girls have both informed their doctors, but so far they have only had the stool sample tests, which were negative.

Hope that all those looking in, will have a nice Saturday.  Looks like we're heading into another heat wave, here in California.  Supposed to hit 100 degrees by tomorrow, and continue off and on all week.  Typical weather here for Fall, so we were expecting it.  We can deal with the heat, but unfortunately, there in always the possibility that a wildfire will occur, if the wind starts blowing from the East or NE.

Good morning from a sodden Interior! The rains are due all next week or turn to snow. In the past normal before the effects of global climate change, August would be rainy, when any floods usually occurred and break summer's heat. September would be 20 or so degrees cooler in the fifties and seventies with beautiful skies and weather with trees and vegetation turning colors in October with that first snow occurring around Halloween. This summer we are seeing October and parts of November weather in September!

Now we have been losing both plant and animal species within the last decade with more severe statewide fires just as is happening in Greenland, Iceland, Russia, and Scandinavia. Two far-reaching effects we've seen here are more Southern animals and vegetation and trees moving Northward as summers cool and winter temperatures warm. We now have coyotes and prairie dogs locally, and the state is busy trying to tear out and destroy alien vegetation such as Siberian larch, and vetch. The sale of seeds not made and distributed from in-state manufacturers is banned.

Since we have lost so much sea ice, polar bears are staying more onshore and invading grizzly habitat. An effect of that is more interspecies polar/grizzly births. We already see a change in landscape and some birds are no longer migrating. "During the peak of fall migration, birds are on the move every day, particularly as the North temperate zone days become increasingly short. But the volume of birds is greatly affected by local and regional scale weather patterns."

In short, No one can say what's next. I read in the news that scientists have long predicted and shown that climate change is one of the largest predictors and causes of large scale human migration. However, climate change deniers instead of helping to understand and supply answers are simply trying to use military answers to social issues.
