Good morning everyone, 35° now at 7 am but was colder earlier.Every thing is covered in frost this morning. Had to laugh at the weather  report on TV last night saying the first frost of the season-we had a harder frost here already. This part of the state used to be called the refrigerator of the state, still is the coldest part.

Every thing went good yesterday, more comfortable getting the CT scan than an MRI. Of course I was hungry but wanted coffee more than food so we did stop at a DD for coffee. When I got in here I changed the clothes I wore and then laid down and slept most of the afternoon, slept better last night than I had the rest of the week so feel wide awake this morning.

AMY  hope the news yesterday about the CT scan was good. The man who did the one yesterday told me my doctor would have the result late afternoon. If so I should hear from her Monday. I sure will not spend time worrying about it.

PHYLLIS  glad you are feeling better. Hope the grocery shopping did not wear you out. I would love to get into a market and see what is new on the shelves that would tempt me to eat.

MARY ANN  I can understand the sleeping. I think it is the relief that that cancer on your nose was removed. I was concerned about the CT scan and did not sleep well all week till yesterday. Was good to have that over with.

JENNY  loved the squirrel story. If I knew someone with a squirrel problem I would send it to them. Hmm maybe I should copy it and save it for the future?

JOY  I can imagine how your son feels. I know how I felt when we had to have a loved pet sent over the Rainbow Bridge.

JENNY  like you I worry about any family member when they are traveling and only relax when they are safely home again.

CALLIE  even with not much to say I sure can end up talking a lot in here.

AMY  HIP HIP HOORAY for no cancer. You and Kyle must both be very happy. God bless you both.

JENNY  not the kind of flight anyone wants. I sure would have wanted off that plane.

JANE  I have the heat  on, too, but not the first time. Sure need the heat this morning.

LLOYD  good morning.

Have a good day.

Thank you, all of you northerners for sending down cool weather.  How nice!

The grocery shopping went very well and I was so pleased.  I only had to sit down on the Rollater twice for a couple of minutes.  I'm so encouraged.

Hooray for Kyle, Amy.  That is such good news.

Gloria, I know you are glad to have the CT scan over with.  Fingers crossed for good results.

Mary Ann, I hope the nose is doing much better today.

Jane, take it easy today and rest up.

Thanks, Lloyd.  And, please take care of yourself.

Hope everyone else is doing well today.

Loved the story of the squirrels!  Gave me a good laugh and that's always nice.  Thank you, Jenn.

Thanks for all the good wishes about my nose.  It is doing its thing and will take several weeks, but will heal on its own.  In the meantime, I'll put a bandaid on it.  It's probably 1/2" square in size.  No one mentioned it until the bandaid came off.

Jane, right now I'd like a fresh tomato because I'd like a salad.  I probably will make myself a salad without a tomato.  I like yellow tomatoes as well as red.  So have yourself a treat.

I felt almost the same as you, Jane, with Norm's B&T because there were several posts, more than usual.

I just had a sip of my flavored coffee and it tasted so good.  I can read with the cup on the front of my laptop, but I can't type with it there.

Gloria, I'm glad your CT went well.  I've had a couple and they were easy.

Amy, it is good you got all of those hugs; they should keep you going for a long time.

I really just got out of the shower where I also shampooed my hair.  I'm good in that area for a few days.  When I wake up, I'll be back.  I have only one errand today and that is to go to the bank.  Tom and I split the cost of eating last night and there went the last of my money.  It seems all of my bank withdrawals go for food -sometimes for others, but mostly Tom and me, then on alternate Sundays with Dot.  And tomorrow it's my turn.

Good Morning.  Cloudy and back to muggy in central Oklahoma.

Jenny, :2funny:   and  at the suggestions for squirrels.  I'm Presbyterian but the other methods sound good for the on-going battle I have with the ones around my bird feeders.

Thanks for the kind comments about Emily.  I am very proud of her for setting a goal and working successfully toward it - even though it's taking four years past college to achieve.  She will graduate as "Doctor Emily, Chiropractor" in December 2020 and has already been asked to join a practice in the OKC area where she grew up.  Academically, Emily is doing extremely well; however, she has never "had one foot in the air and her hand on the doorknob" like her sister Ellen so it hasn't been 100% easy for her to be even four hours away from home.

Weather isn't conducive to finishing the flower bed clean-up.  (That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it!  ;))

Off to look for something else useful to do.

Enjoy your day, Everyfriend

JaneS

Just a quick note...

I took myself to Wenger's (The Amish Grocery Store) because Cathy and Craig are away or the weekend and I needed a bunch of stuff.  I made out like a bandit.  Then I stopped at the roadside farm stand on the way home and picked up a box of cherry tomatoes for snacking. Then, I paused in front of a box of tomatoes for salads and sandwiches.  I had my hand on them and then decided against them.  I turned away and then I turned back....twice.  I think it was MARY ANN saying, "I'd love a tomato for my salad!"  So I bought a basket of those, too.

MARY ANN, I already had one for my lunch.  I just cut it up in a dish, added a little mayonnaise and some bacon bits, salt and pepper and ate it in your honor!

Now I have to get busy and get ready for company!  Have a lovely rest of the day, Everyfriend!

Amy:  Thanks be for the No Cancer diagnosis.

Mary Ann:  I just went through the procedure for a spot on my throat - great t o hear No Cancer after they checked.

I am packed and taking a flight to Montana tomorrow - just to be with son for the week - a medical procedure.  They have had some snow but not much - I have to drive a macho truck so everyone stay away from me.....

Have healthy week all!

Mary Ann

Carol, I could be very surprised, but I'm not expecting any trouble.  I have a check up in two weeks.  I think I am getting along fine.  After all, it was three months between the time they made the appointment for the surgery and the surgery.  To my way of thinking, it seemed it was not too serious.

Mary Ann

JaneS

I know it's just a trivial joke but MARY ANN, did you like the tomato?  If you did, I'll have another one for you tomorrow.

Click for Lewisburg,Pennsylvania Forecast

Mary Ann

Jane, it was delicious.

When I was young, my neighbor friends ate tomatoes like apples and we never had any so I did not know know how they tasted or how good they were.  I have no idea when I had one to find out how they tasted.  When I lived alone, I made many salads but Tom doesn't make them and he does the cooking.  He likes them, but only gets them when we eat out. I try to order green stuff but then he'll have something else on the menu or we'll eat out!

I'm BACK!~~  Drove to MO on Tuesday, had to really move to get the RV filled with water & everything I needed for cats & me... since I couldn't do it last week while roofers trucks were in my driveway. I delivered the school books that came from Dad's old home... I had not gone over them well before and was surprised that the Mcguffey books were 1880s & belonged to Dad's mother. The lady at the Historical Society seemed pleased to get them (10 or 12) and that they had names inside. I explained to her that I wanted them donated in my parents name as family instead of just me. We'll see how this works out, but at least I do think they will be cherished.

It was extremely hot & I expected the campground to be empty in the middle of the week, instead there was only ONE campsite open & it had nary a tree around. I do hate sitting in an RV listening to the AC run. The TV wasn't good & I couldn't find my stack of DVDs to watch, so I slept. Cats were good, they don't horse around like they used to do. I had planned to spend 2 nights at that campground but decided it would be better to go on to Truman Lake near Warsaw, MO.... found that campground pretty full as well. But I did get a shady spot & cats & I just ate & slept until Friday morning when we headed to Sedalia for my class reunion/luncheon. I had a wonderful time during high school so always fun to see old friends. Many of my close friends are dead but graduating class of about 250 (started out in 8th grade of more than 300 but "back in the day..." a lot of girls got married & boys got jobs instead of graduating.

Last night I called my brother & SIL that live "on the way home" (in KC area) to see if they were going to be home this morning, they were so I got up between 4:00-5:00am to go to Papa Jake's for a box of their special pastries. Good stuff & I bought enough for us to eat this morning & each have some for another day. Best fried apple pies you ever tasted. The wind was still out of the north (oh, cooled down Thursday evening & felt wonderful)... rained between KC & Wichita, hard at times. But I pulled in mid afternoon & got some of the stuff unloaded. Will finish up tomorrow & fill her up again on Monday for the next trip.

So that was the week that was... and now I need to find Tiger cat & feed her. Callie was waiting when we pulled in & she & Tom ate like pigs but Tiger had to unwind first. Don't know where she is. Tom & Callie walked down to the river to feed fish with me. Tiger didn't show up. She ate her breakfast but nothing since so know she is hungry. Hope the "gutter-guys" get all the new gutters up this week & be finished will this ordeal... and be done with that insurance lady. She certainly is not a good representative for that company!!!

Hard to see the keyboard with my mouth wide open yawning....better take a shower & wash my hair since tomorrow is Sunday. I did go back to read every post & looks like y'all have been busy. I made comments in my head to each of you & will leave it at that.... still in my head. Prayers for those in need & thanks for the blessings of the week. This is one tired old lady.
:cheer:  :snowball:

I wondered why I was so tired and now I know - I just read Shirley's post.  I can't keep up with you.  I wonder if in 10 years you will be so active?

It's been a nice day here, nothing special, just nice.  Kendrick wandered about and I think he will still wander tomorrow.  What with the EEE stuff, I don't want to let him out on the deck.

Tomorrow Dot and I will do our usual and we'll take it from there.

Mary Ann

JaneS

I'm off to the sack, too!  It's been a busy day here and tomorrow promises the same.  My daughter Christy and my granddaughter Frankie arrived around supper time and we popped open one of those jars of soup I just finished canning so now I have a second and third opinion on them.  They both pronounced it "perfect....as ususal"

Frankie is out with friends and will be back soon.  Christy has gone to bed but the pups and I are waiting up for Frankie.  I know, that's no my job but it is my house and I can't sleep till all my chicks are in the nest.

SHIRLEY, I envy you that trip!  It sounds like you enjoyed every minute of it and you sure did a lot.  Well, maybe you didn't REALLY enjoy the campsite in the sun but it had to be better than nothing!

I might just go to bed and wait for Frankie to get back.  The dogs will hear her and they'll let me know.

Sleep well my friends and wake to a happy day!  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning everyone..

I slept sound last night and feel as if more could be had. Today is a day of rest thank goodness. I did laundry then tackled the garden getting 3 huge bags of garbage to go..lots of green tomatoes but no one wants them ,so off they go, the bears may eat them.

Jane, have a fun time with family.

Mary Ann, does this mean a stop at the Cholesterol pit? I get a chuckle every time you say that.  Thank you for correcting me.......up but not totally  awake........that is my story and I am sticking to it. :)

Lloyd, I hope you can get things settled.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Yes, Amy, Dot and I will go to the Cholesterol Pit today after church.  I've mentioned before that either Norm or Dot coined that phrase.  It actually is Mr Burger's, a hamburg chain, very popular.  As shown by the fact that Dot and I split a piece of pie and a Tuna Melt, you can see they fix other things too.  We also get coffee and I can tell you their decaf coffee is better than McD's.

Nitpicking again, Amy, but 3 bags of "garage" is a bit much!  How do you handle that?  (I know what you mean!)

Gloria

Good morning everyone, woke a little after midnight and thought it was time to get up. I did turn the TV on for awhile and went back to bed and right to sleep. Not bad and I do feel awake now. Better than waking at 3am and being awake the rest of the day.

PHYLLIS  glad you did good grocery shopping. Those rollators  are great to have. Much better than the walkers. The young man who did the CT scan was very nice and explained what was going on. He thought with my age and being so skinny he would have trouble finding a vein and apologized for hurting me before he looked. I told him no problem I still have good veins in both arms, he was happy to see that. Glad you had cooler temperatures.

MARY ANN  if I was closer I would share one of the last tomatoes of the year with you. My son gave me a few of yellow tomatoes but I prefer the red ones. I had no idea what the scan would be like but easy and faster and better than an MRI with all the noise.

CALLIE  I can see you and the family "popping your buttons" when Emily gets that final degree. She went for what she wanted and is making it happen.

JANE  I have the tomatoes my son gave me on a shelf over the sink and almost every time I am in there I will pick up of the smaller ones and just bite into it and enjoy every bite, no salt or anything, just plain tomato.

CAROL  hope the medical procedure for your son turns out great.

SHIRLEY  glad you are home safely once again. Hope you got a good night sleep and are wide awake this morning.

AMY  like you I went to bed early for me but it was interrupted in the middle of the night. I wake always wanting to sleep more.

JANE  looks like everyone was sleepy last night. Change in the weather?

LLOYD  hope every thing works out right for you.

Have a good day.

I'm back from the Cholesterol Pit.  I really think any hamburger joint could claim that title.  Pie was coconut cream and we had our usual tuna melt.

Gloria, a former neighbor introduced me to yellow tomatoes because the red ones had too much acid for her.  I really like both, have no preference, but I can eat both, too.  I have a tomato on the grocery list and so far I've been happy with what the shoppers have chosen (on-line shopping).  I don't think I've ever seen yellow tomatoes in the stores.

I'm ready for a nap.  That's what happens when you get old!

Mary Ann

Amy

Jane, too late..but I did print off the recipe for next year. It sounds like a nice moist loaf too...could even put raisins or dates in it.

Phyliss, I find shopping one of the hardest things to do, when we head to the city there are so many stops to make plus need to stop also for the dogs. I am more than willing to put my feet up when we get home.

Gloria, I think that the reason I was tired is I did laundry then worked in the garden after taking the pine needles to the dump. I love today ,a day of rest and it is Kyle's birthday too!

Mary Ann that is one of my favourite pies. We had lemon layered cake for dessert and chicken soup....not in that order though :)

Amy, Happy Birthday to Kyle and I hope he has many more.

I like both Spring and Fall because of the leaf colors.  Our leaves haven't started turning yet, but next weekend is probably the weekend I would visit Tom and Sue up north if they were still married and lived north.  Our colors start a week or two after that.  I'm just glad I don't have to rake leaves now.  When I lived in Belmont MI, before I moved here (1981), I had a lot of oak trees in my yard and they would shed half in the fall and half in the Spring.  We had leaves ankle-deep and we'd rake them onto a tarp and haul them across the road to an unused spot in the cemetery.  Since then, that spot has been taken by burials.  The condo hires such work done, so I am off the hook!!!

As I awoke from my nap, Kendrick jumped on the bed.  He let me pet him a bit, even hold onto his tail.  Then he got up and walked to the foot of the bed and that's where he is now, a favorite place to lie.

I just noticed a couple of surfers in Lake Michigan and the water is choppy for them.

AMY, DARN!  I thought I might catch you before you dumped the tomatoes!  I was sitting here one day wondering what to do with all those green tomatoes.  I'd already had some fried.  And I decided to see if there were any recipes.  I found a bunch of them but the bread is really good.  Might try it with dried cranberries the next time.  I don't have raisins but I always have cranberries.

I was just waiting for Christy to check in after getting safely home.  She did and they are!  Now I can relax.  The chicks are all safely in the nest!

Think I'll go see what's on TV behind my eyelids.  I'm really worn out!  I don't want to miss anything when my kids gather so I keep moving.

Tomorrow is a work day so I'll be off to Wally World!  Wish me smiles!  And wish me one special customer to make my day!

My favorite pie is coconut, too, but I prefer the custard.  There's a local restaurant here that makes all of it's own baked goods and ice cream and they have the BEST coconut custard pie I've ever eaten.  Every time I go there, I bring a piece home to eat when I'm not so full.  Their food is plain cooking but the best.

I wish you all a peaceful night and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!

Been busy cleaning out the motorhome... the cats do make a lot of wash loads with getting sick. Had to wash 3 of their beds, never did take out LaurenKat's because it sits over the driver's seat & Tiger likes to ride up there now & then. The other 2 are on the king size bed, plenty of room for me to sleep with 2 pet carriers & 2 cat beds on it.

Amy, glad to hear the good news about Kyle, especially welcome with it being his birthday, right?!! I had a neighbor come over when we had a big garden with lots of green tomatoes on the vines when a heavy frost warning.... she picked & took them to her basement & put on papers to ripen, said they were good up until near January! My mother could eat the yellow tomatoes because of less acid, so Dad would plant some every year. His favorites were the Berpee Big Boys & Better Boys & with their good ground his would be plate size & have the best flavor ever. I have not had ONE home grown tomato this year. Woe is me!

Mary Ann, glad your nose surgery is over & doing well. Any time "C" comes into the picture I think we all sort of melt. I do, the unknown.... My friend here used a nasal spray for osteoporosis that later was pulled with a warning that it might cause a hole in the nose.... although she wouldn't bother trying to pin blame on the company, but had to have a plastic surgeon close the hole recently. Did such a good job can't even tell where it was. By the way, my brother was 94 in Sept & still going strong, wish you could see him. I doubt that I will be in as good of shape as he is in 10 years. We all just learn to deal with how our bodies age, right?

I think I've mentioned before that my mother made a custard banana cream pie that absolutely melted in your mouth. I tasted it one time at a little French restaurant, same flavor, but nobody got Mother's recipe in time. It was never written down so when she tried to explain how to... was always something lacking that she must have done automatically and forgot when she wasn't making it as she tried to write down. I went to the same restaurant a few months ago but in the years since I tasted it before, they've quit making the old fashioned type.  Mother's was basically egg yolks cooked over a double boiler & after trying one time, never willing to gamble again. It was a throw away,  no way to rescue it!

Had long phone calls from my daughter & one son & see it is past bedtime. Got to get the clothes out of the dryer & will put the other load in but wait until morning to run, maybe run a little while to fluff & turn off...cat beds.

Lloyd, hope you do get time to enjoy "the fruits of your labor" for years to come. I was surprised at how many campers were at the lake this week, MID week.

Denver

A good Sunday night HELLO.  BUSY day, so I am just getting in here.

First of all......HAPPY BIRTHDAY greetings to you, PHYLLIS.  I am sorry to be so late to be wishing you this, but better late than never.  I do hope you enjoyed YOUR DAY.  Best wishes for many more!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to KYLE as well, AMY.  Seems you had a nice day, so I hope the Birthday Boy enjoyed his day!

We spent the night with the grands last night.  They are all a delight to be with and do very well for themselves, so not much for us to do at all.  Dave and Michele had a wonderful time at the friends 50th Bday celebration and we were so happy that they were able to get out socially and enjoy themselves.

My Broncos finally won their first game of the season today, so I am feeling much better about them.🏈🏈

CAROL, I do hope your son does well with the surgery.  You take care of yourself and come home as soon as you can.

SHIRLEY, so good to see you back from your trip to MO.  Glad you had a good time and everything went well.

Jonah turned 10 months old today.  He is walking more and more and even woke up with his two bottom teeth coming through❣️

Tomorrow Matthew has a playoff football game.  His team is 6-0.  They anticipate winning again tomorrow and the championship game will be played Wednesday.  He has really enjoyed playing and wants to continue again next year.

I guess I had best say goodnight and sleep tight.

Good morning everyone a warm 66° after being in the 30's a few mornings ago. Don't know if it is from the stuff  put into me for the CT scan or what on Friday but all I have done is sleep. I slept Friday afternoon and was still in bed early. Slept most of the week end away. Cannot remember ever sleeping so much.

MARY ANN  have you ever had any vintage tomatoes? Talk about acid but they really are tasty. Both of my sons planted some this year. I love the red o because I think the acid gives them more flavor and I find the yellow ones have less flavor. That is what my taste buds tell me but we are all different.

AMY  wish Kyle a belated happy birthday for me. Yesterday was a day of rest for me, too. Did not even get dressed, stayed in nightgown and robe all day and slept most of the day away.

JANE  I never liked raisins so I use chopped dates or dried cranberries in place of them. Ahh like you coconut custard is what I would pick and I used to make often.

LLOYD  you are right we cannot take it with us so should enjoy what we have while we can.

SHIRLEY  I would not like a summer if I could not have native tomatoes. Glad both my sons share theirs with me. I can taste the difference between them, maybe because the soil is different? Even the temperatures are different being about 15 miles apart. My Mother never had a written recipe, she could never explain how or what she used, it was all automatic for her and she was a very good cook and baked the best pies-the pie crust she made with lard and was nice and flaky.

JENNY  so glad that Michele was able to go out  and enjoy herself. She has been through so much and I keep her and the family in my prayers.

Have a good day.

Good morning everyone..

Calling for rain this afternoon here. We were going to do a leaf colour trip but not sure ,tomorrow may be the better day.

Gloria, thank you I will tell him.Don't you just love a day of rest and yours was perfect to me.  I was just going to get into my pj's when a knock came at the door so glad I held off a bit!!

Jenny, thank you ,I will tell him. We ended the day by going out for ice cream at the dairy. They have tree sizes of cone...baby cone, small and HUGE...we always get the baby cone as it is more than enough for us.I asked her what huge was and she said three big scoops of ice cream!! Good to hear Michele felt well enough to go out.

Shirley, I have tried that with the tomatoes but usually end up with a smelly mess . I think the bears will enjoy them. What is worse packing or unpacking the motor home?
Better go take a look and see what the weather looks like, can see the sky now.
