Well, I have to say I hope LSU beats the pants off Alabama, but I'll have to wait and see.  LSU is playing VERY WELL this fall!  The morning paper here in Auburn says that Pres. Trump is flying in to see the game.  Whenever I see that he has gone somewhere like Alabama I wonder who is minding the "store" at the White House!

Jane, I hope you and Kathy have fun at the Craft Show.  I'm also planning to watch the 'Bama/LSU game today and I hope LSU beats the pants off 'Bama!  I can only HOPE!

Eddie came by about 9:30 yesterday a.m.  He took me to the library and then to Kroger.  Afterwards he brought me home, helped me put the groceries away and we had a piece of cake each.  He had bought a bouquet of lovely fall flowers at Kroger and gave them to me while I was putting the groceries away.

Not much else going on here in Auburn today.  I need to get dressed and outside for my daily walk.  I hope Every Buddy has a nice day and the weather is nice for whatever you have planned.

Sue

It's a nice day out there with temps in low 40s so a good day to "hit the shops" along with a gazillion other women.  The craft show was ok...and the shops were kind of disappointing. Only thing I bought was a yard flag with a snowman that was on sale.

With the cold coming in and possible snow, I took both cars to the station and filled them up so they're set for a bit.

Home now to settle in and watch some football.

Well, Buddies, it's been an interesting week or so.  I'm currently at Margaret's and will probably be moving to this area in the not-too-distant future.  It's time.

I started feeling nauseated, with diarrhea, about ten days ago.  It gradually got worse, and I gradually pretty much quit eating and staying in my apartment.  By last Wednesday afternoon, I knew I was definitely in trouble.  I got the nurse to come check me, and we decided to get an ambulance to take me to the hospital.  I call Margaret Thursday morning, and she, of course, came over ASAP.
I wound up being in the hospital until yesterday, just getting IV fluids, some Zofran for nausea, and eating what I could (or would).  They were going to let me go yesterday, because of changing to a new computer-system, I wound up not getting sprung until about 9 last night.

Margaret took me back to my apartment, I took a shower and changed clothes, got some stuff packed, and she brought me to her house.  All in all, I feel better than I have in a couple of months.  But I did decide for myself that it's time to get nearer to the girls.  Margaret says she'll be happy to have me move in with her, and she's also going to look at some of the assisted living places around here.  We'll talk with the other girls, probably several times before any decisions are made.  But I probably won't be going back to Chattanooga permanently.  Time will tell.

Enjoy your ballgames this weekend, Buddies!

Marilyn

Hi every Buddy. I was here earlier  but decided to wait to see if anyone else posted. NOPE! So here I am again. We sure have been eating some awesome soup lately . My Neighbor Chris brought over some Chicken noodle soup with lots of veggies and has been walking freckles twice a day since my surgery.. Jo brought us Mushroom soup and a bottle of wine last night. Today I am going to make my cabbage soup and puts all the leftover Mushroom soup into  the pot.

I sure expected  some more people from church to reach out beside Jeanne who brought supper 2 days in a row last week. I have had one other person from Furry Friends call, Jo has been here almost every day. She did my grocery shopping  Friday.

One of our Furry Friend members passed away last Wednesday, Her mother has been a FF since the inception 14yrs ago.

Any way I am getting better, my dressing got wet in the shower this morning, I had it wrapped in saran wrap but didn't put a bag over that. So I took off the wet stuff and redressed it, called the Dr, but he hasn't called back yet.

Marilyne

Maryz - Just looking in, as I sometimes do, and I'm so sorry to read that you have had such a bad week.   It must be have been very debilitating for you to be so sick, so soon after your surgery.  Good that you're staying with Margaret for awhile, until you make up your mind as to what you want to do in the future.  I can see that it would be good to be closer to her.   I hope you're feeling much better today.

Cottoncandy

Mary...sorry to read of you being sick and in hospital...how far does your daughters live from you ?..Sometimes we just need to make that decision...glad you are feeling better...keep us posted...I didn't go to church today...fighting a cold and sneezing....hope it don't turn into me needing AB...Hi to all Buddies..fixing to drink a cup of hot tea...

maryz

Marilyne, thanks for the good wishes (and welcome).

Marilyn, glad your pain is easing.

Darlene, Margaret lives about an hour+ from where I live now.  It's not too far (not by Texas distances for sure), but I think we're all ready for it to be closer.

I wonder where everybody else is.  Happy Veterans' Day, Buddies!

Yikes, Mary!  It sounds as if you've been one sick lady.  I'm glad the hospital stay got things squared away and you're with Margaret.  I'm sure you and your girls will come up with the best solution for you.

Darlene...hope the cold doesn't appear.  They seem to hang on and on.

Marilyn...you now know you can't rely on your "church friends" to bring meals, so, I guess, you may want to stock up your freezer with your own meals for the next surgery, once you're back on your foot.  People don't have the time anymore, I guess.  You're lucky to find someone to walk your dog twice a day.  That's a huge gift. I'd think those you've taken meals to would reciprocate.

Sue..hurray for Joy's LSU Tigers!  What a game.

We have winter today.  It snowed all night and with wind, gives us a wind chill of 8.  It's still too dark to see how much snow, but glad my doc appt isn't until tomorrow.

Hi to Sharon,Shirley, Jeanne.

Jane

SharonE

What a sickly group we have here. Mary, I'm so sorry to hear how sick you've been and that you''re contemplating another move, but maybe it is time. Margaret and the girls have been so good taking care of you, but all of you may be happier closer togethers. Keep in touch and tell us how you're doing.

Marilyn, I'm glad a couple of your church people are helping out, but it certainly doesn't sound enough. I'm making meatloaves this afternoon, one of which will go to our SS teacher and his wife. She is on hospice and he is 88 and pretty frail.  I used to take food to Ms Frances when she was still alive too.

Sat & Sun I didn't feel well. Just hurt so bad. I did make it to SS & church, but them came home, had lunch and fell asleep for about 3 hours. Fortunately, we had leftovers for dinner.  Tonight is Bible Study, but no other plans.

Darlene, what is an AB? Whatever it is, I hope you don't need it

Jane, you mentioned Joy. Do you ever hear from her? She hasn't been in here forever. I hope she's okay. I don't envy you your snow and cold. It's cold enough here.  Be careful driving tomorrow.

I hope everyone has a better day today.  Sharon

Cottoncandy

Sharon...AB...is antibiotic....seems as we get older it's harder to fight off colds and respiratory problems without one....I had the flu 2 years ago...was really sick....I do take the shot but sure hope I don't get it again.....Hi to everyone...stay warm and well

jane

Buddies...our Joy passed away Nov. 6.  Sharon's asking if I'd heard from her lately sent me looking and I found she just passed away...shy of her 91st birthday.  Here is her obituary and there's a guest book for a message. I left one that all of us at "Bosom Buddies" would miss our Joy.

It's AMAZING how much I can get done when I don't hurt and when I awake at 4:30 am.  :2funny:  :coolsmiley:

I'm working on the third load of laundry and I've gone through a food cabinet to cull out things I can donate to the church for those in need for Thanksgiving and just everyday needs.

I won't get it to the church today, but I'll drop it off tomorrow when I have to get out to go to the surgeon in Dbq for the physical part of my mammo exam.

jane

SharonE

Thank you so much, Jane, for finding out about Joy. I have thought for a long time that she should be posting and wondering if she were sick.

Sherry only one church friend has stepped up and on furry friend who is doing the most. By the was Sherry I  sometimes get very confused by the emoji's you post on my FB posts. I put something serious on there and you post a laughing emoji. When I realixe that you have probably made an error I just smile and move on.

Sad to hear about Joy, I have thought of her so often and wondered how she was doing.

Jane  yes that is something I should do when I can get out to shop, make a lot of food and freeze it.

I am going to the dr this morning to have my bandage changed. I got it wet showring yesterday and wrapped it up myself.

jane

I hope our Sue is ok.  She hasn't posted since Saturday...but maybe she's still celebrating LSU's win over "Bama" ! :2funny:

Thanks Jane. You sent the snow over to us. Already my car is covered. Sat. and Sunday was really nice but they are saying that is it for about a week of low 30s. I see no reason to leave the house.
I usually empty my pantry and take over to a place on Campus. Last year I took to the few Indian students living in The American Indian house. They don't seem to be remembered much. I Can see why they don't Celebrate Thanksgiving. (Jane. do you remember us having the Illini Chief.?  Students now are wanting us to get him back. ) I haven't bothered with Thanksgiving for years. Like most celebrations now seems to be a day for the  start Christmas shopping as all stores open up at 6pm. Also the biggest for Drunk Driving.  But I am sure many with older families will have a nice day.

Closest family to me married to Canadian and like to do the Canadian TG. His family come down to Connecticut from Canada. It is a couple of weeks before the U.S One.

I was wondering what happened to Joy. didn't realize she was 91.

That is quite a drive to your Dr. Appt. Jane. I would have put it off until later. I just picked up my bP med and again was a no Refill on it so called Dr. office and told them need longer that 30 days as didnt enjoy driving in Ice and snow and so they called to tell me now 90 days ordered. I still take the same one and it suits me.it will be a month until next Pick up so will see if want to change before then.
JeanneP

SharonE

Marilyn, sorry for the emojis. When I use my phone, lots come up that I don't want and can't get rid of.  Once you are able to be on your feet, it will be a good idea to freeze up some dinners for the next surgery. I need to do that too. It's a shame your church members haven't been more caring.

Jeanne, I don't envy you the snow. Nice to donate to the Indian students. I don't blame you for ignoring some of the holidays when you're all alone.

Jane, if I get up at 4:30, the day is shot! I've done a few little things today + my exercises, but that's about it. I was going to call some doctors, but they are all closed for Vet's Day.  Now I have to go read the chapter for the Bible Study. Sharon

JeanneP

Still coming down hard here. I can't think why Doctors would not be available because of a day like Vet's day.that is crazy. I know that Gov. take the day off. I believe library closed and don't know if Schools are. Snow would close the schools anyway. I notice now paper in my box. Getting crazy now with what they are calling holidays. Stores will open up on Thanksgiving and the malls

It's looking like I won't be going back to the Terrace.  It's going to be so much easier for the girls if I'm closer to Margaret.  I'm ready to make this move - knew it was coming eventually, and this seems to be the time.  There is assisted living at the Terrace, but I'd still need to move again sometime.

Margaret looked at places near here today, and I'll look Wednesday - probably put my name on a list.  I'll still move out of the Terrace now and stay at Margaret's til I can get in somewhere.  She says she'd be have to have me here permanently, but as well as we get along, I don't think that would be ideal.  Anyhow - definitely moving.

We're due to get some snow, but only about 1/2", and temperatures in the teens tomorrow night.  Brrr
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

Shirley

I do come and read every day and mull over what everyone says, knowing we are all in pretty much same situation, age & health. The last few weeks have been strange to me, with this knee totally changing my way of life. I am shocked that a bum knee can cause more trouble than the open heart surgery did. Maybe I forgot how off balance I was the months after that surgery, I do know that because Cas was in such bad shape I didn't have time to think about me, no rehab or time off, he was in worse shape than I was.

Mary, I'm with you about moving just once, being closer to the kids and planning ahead.  Knowing how you've plugged along over the years, I do think you will enjoy what is offered at assisted or even the independent part before assisted. I want a place that will take care of me to the last day and hopefully people that becomes friends from one part will visit when I must move on. I don't have the dread of that part of life like so many do. Good luck with your choices, hope you find the perfect spot to call home.

Marilyn, we moved enough over the years I never count on anyone to do anything when there is a crisis in my life. I don't really do anything for anyone else anymore and the people I used to take food to or help out have all died or moved into homes that take care of their every need. Most of the volunteer things at my church are evening and I go out of my way to NOT drive after dark. I tried setting up the food delivery from the grocery store when I blew my knee & found it more complicated than I thought so fixed those problems & now all set for the next time I have the need. Having someone help with your dogs is a big deal in my mind... nobody can take care of these cats, even my kids that have been around them ever since cats adopted us. Cats hide, can't be trusted to stay inside day & night because they are feral and have had their freedom to go out since they were born. Anyway, glad you are managing and hope the days get easier.

Sharon, I've learned a lot about pain since blowing this knee. For sure I walk different and stop to think before any movement (especially getting & out of the car). I can't take any pain meds so always conscious of what that move will do to the pain level. I asked my son & had daughter ask her husband (both dealing with same knee problem) if trying to get comfy at night is next to impossible for them. Not something the doctors even mentioned & big pain for the 3 of us & surprised that we all felt the same. I can't imagine what constant pain would be like to live with, didn't realize how lucky I've been.

Jane, I don't think the Joy in here is the same one that "hangs out" over in the Soda Shoppee, is it?  I read the obit (nice of you to post it) but still couldn't tell.

Sorry I can't sit here & talk longer... maybe that's a good thing... my knee locks up if I sit very long. I do get up early but by the time I feed cats & myself, I'm ready to go for a couple more hours of zzzzzzzzs. The laundry is piled up, I'm not well acquainted with the new washer & it's sensing for water level & demands of pods & all. Truth is, I hate learning to operate anything new. Last night the wind started howling and blowing out of the north so the yard I worked on Sat is full of everyone else's leaves again. My sweet gum is hanging onto her leaves yet, but I have 6 bags of mulched leaves for the trash pick up on Friday. I paid a young man $20 an hour to help, his wife was supposed to also get $20 an hour but she sat in their truck the whole 2 hours he worked & I gave him his $40 & told him I don't pay for sitting in the vehicle. I have no idea why she came along if she didn't plan to work. I was the other pair of hands doing all the work was worn out by the time those 2 hours were over. I said I had 4 hours work, could be one person working 4 hours or 2 people working 2 hours. That was double what she first said she wanted for "hourly" work. Disappointed, he is a very hard worker but was sort of dragging his feet with her staying in the car and I don't think I want her to help with the heavy cleaning in the house, don't know what to make of her.

JeanneP, at this time of year I remember spending the first Christmas of being married in England. It was a whole new life and my family so far away, no phone calls back then. Always planned to go back but doubt I do now, and I know I'd be disappointed that nothing is like I remember. That was 1954, our baby that was born in England will be 64 in January.

Got to quit thinking... sorry this turned into a book (again.) Hugs to all & sweet dreams.  Shirley

jane

Shirley...our Joy lived in Baton Rouge and is not the Joy you're speaking of.

Mary...it sounds as if things are falling into place for you...and your girls.

Jeanne...the roads will be fine tomorrow for my trip to the doctors.  I've learned that when you live in a small town in a rural area, all speciality docs are a distance away.

It warmed up to the low 30s, so I got out to mail a letter, take food to the food pantry, and go to grocery store for a couple of items.

I'm tired tonight, so going to go get some sleep.

Jane

SCFSue

Good morning, Every Buddy.  It's wet and dreary here this morning.  I've read the paper (carefully as even though the paper man had it wrapped in plastic, it was still pretty damp!)  Not much local news this morning.  Yesterday Bonney and I went to the Memorial Day service at our small park.  A wreath was laid, a young naval officer gave a Eulogy, and a local school group was present to sing several patriotic songs.  Tim called me and will come by this morning to go over paperwork and we'll probably meet Kris for lunch.

Mary, I think you're wise to be looking for a place near Margaret and hope you find what you are looking for.  I'm hoping to stay here in Auburn as long as I can.  So far with a cleaning service every 2 weeks, I'm able to stay tidy.  Keep us posted.

Tim is coming by this morning and I need to get dressed.  I hope Every Buddy is feeling well and will have a good day.

Sue

SharonE

I guess we are all getting to that time of life to be thinking about retirement centers.  Our problem is that our kids are still moving around, so wouldn't know where to light other than here.

Shirley, have you tried Voltaren Gel on your knees at night? It isss  a prescription, but really helps when the rains come in, etc.

I didn't realize you llived in England. For some reason, I had you in Kansas. Must have confused you with another Shirley.

We went to the 2nd of the 4 advent Bible Studies last night. Both of us hate driving at night, but John did pretty well Getting his cataracts removed helped a lot. I haven't tried driving at night since I had mine removed. I'm still having a lot of trouble reading. It puts me to sleep.  No major plans today. The landscaper came yesterday and changed out some bushes for sasanqua camelias. I think they will be really pretty.

I didn't go to the Vet ceremony yesterday, but should have. They have one here in Sun City.

I did get a hold of one doctor yesterday and made an appt to discuss the back stimulator. It's really not helping and it will keep me from having an MRI and a better knee replacement.

No other news here.  Have a good day, everyone.  Sharon

Jane.
Your area now better than ours right now. Only 7 deg. And windy. Sun is out . Got 4.5 ins snow yesterday.real fast.such a mess.
I live right on the front of turnoff 185 int. 74 going east. It is the main turn off for south 130 so semi are bumper to bumper all the time. So was a wreck tieing up the flow. Traffic was 4 miles hour for 5 hours and were backed up 100 miles on int 74. So my turn off was closed down making it that people could not get home to the towns in the east. This was at 4pm opening up at 8pm. They say all together over 200 cars got some damage. Not been this bad weather since 1919 they say. I Will get to 40 this weekend andsoshould get rid of snow.doubt I go anyplace before then. Can picture what grocery stores and gas stations will be like. Glad it happened before the thanksgiving weekend..

Will most of you ladies be staying close to home. Theydosaythat flying will be a mess.

Elders daughter just called to say will be 82 deg. Where she is in Florida. Ones in Houston say was 41 day and 27 last night in Texas. Weather going crazy.

Sue. Like you I am hoping I can stay put ,living same spot for long time. I just could not do the retirement senior housing way. I still need to find someone for the heavier part of housework though. Have to do my own cooking as its my hobby. Have great laundry person who been there for 12 years. Does fantastic work. It is just 5 min. Away. Yard work will be taken care of by anew man. Long as health holds up I should be o.k I take good care of it.

Where you lives seems to be a good place. No scary  weather. Have friend and she has lived for past 20 years living 4 months in her house here and 8 months in your area. I think she is thinking of selling this place in Illinois. And full timing by your area. Only has one GD. Here with 2 sons who are now teens. Her daughter always lived in Florida.

Well, don't know what to do today. Feeling lazy and not ready to go outside. Need to try and figure out the workings of this new smart phone I have not set up yet. Hating phones. Already had 4 calls on my home lone today from Robo and 3 on. Mu other mobile. Will they ever give up?
JeanneP

Shirley

I couldn't remember who mentioned trying Voltaren Gel, but I looked up the script the Dr gave me... it is the generic for that. Came back to look back & it was you, Sharon. I couldn't tell any difference, used the amount suggested, but did also read the warnings of side effects & decided since I couldn't tell it helped at all, would not try again. Since this was generic & cost $60. I can't imagine what the real deal costs! I also bought the advertised cream Hempvana and it didn't do anything either. The one thing that does seem to penetrate is regular old blue lid Ponds for dry skin. Oh, my life in England was the first 3 years of being married (Air Force) I grew up in MO but have lived in KS since 1960, sorry I didn't explain well. I think I left a little piece of ME in England, such memories........

jane

Sue...good to see you here.  Enjoy lunch with Tim and Kris.

Jeanne....roads here good.

Sharon...hope they can get your back stimulator working better or take it out so you can have mri and knee replacement.

Shirley...take care. Wichita gets some nasty weather, I know.

It was-1 this morning, but I had an easy trip to Dbq...45 miles each way...and doc check was good. He's very thorough about checking physically my incision and remaining breast and, of course, neck lumph glands, lungs, heart, and carotids.

Temps to drop again tonight and maybe snow, but I only have bridge here in town.

Stay warm and safe,

Jane

SharonE

Shirley, glad I wasn't losing it and that you are in KS.  Voltaren Gel works really well for me. I don't know what the cost is as I have SS D and got it quite a while ago. They gave me 3 tubes and I don't use a lot at a time.  Your weather sounds awful.  Ours is cold--27 but not snow in Charlotte area.

Jane, be careful on your trip to the Dr's. It doesn't sound so bad !!

Brian is coming here for TG, so we won't be traveling. I probably won't be traveling for quite a spell.

Hi to Sue and Darlene and Mary.  Sharon

SCFSue

Good morning to Every Buddy looking in this morning.  I am playing bridge after lunch and need to take my morning walk (which will be a short one today as I'm moving so slowly).  It is chilly and I'll need a heavier than usual jacket for outside walking.  And I'll shower when I get back inside after the walk.

Sharon, Jeanne, Shirley, Jane, Marilyn, and Every Buddy looking in.  Have a nice day, Every Buddy.

Sue

JeanneP

Te sun is ou but only 18 deg and not going higher today. I don't feel like putting on heavy coat to go walking. I do need to try and get more snow  and ice off my car. Should have covered it.
I will maybe go over to the almost empty mall as it is a good place to walk later.

Shirley
You were stationed in great area in u.k. My mum spent half year down by there and rest time up N u.k.i either went in May oe September for visiting and so would stay both areas. Loved down south.
Did you ever return to visit. How different you would find it now.

JeanneP

It appears we all have the chilly weather.  No snow falling here yet, but it's to come this afternoon, I guess.

I need to get an appt to have the tires rotated on one car and then on to bridge.  Both are in same part of town.

Stay warm and snuggly,

Jane
