Domestic Goddess: Is this correct, if one would like to post/share a recipe, we do so here?  If so, was searching to see if there were separate recipe categories?

Shirley - They are sisters, 27 and 28 years old and just as nice as they are pretty!

I wouldn't exactly say I am "bopping around" but I am still around.  :) I'm going to try staying connected with this great group.

Thanks to all who commented on the photo.

Beverly

Our new great-grand-nieces!

Mary Ann

Beverly, beautiful babies.  One of our twins is also Ellie (from Eleanor).  Their weights are astounding - over five pounds each.  They look very healthy for having been born so recently.  Congratulations.

Mary Ann

Beverly

Thank you Mary Ann. You're lucky to be able to see your twins fairly often. These babies are in Vermont, but the parents take a lot pictures!  :)  They are the great-grands of Chape's youngest sister. I had never heard the name Everleigh till last year when my brother and SIL had a great-grand. I have a feeling they'll be called Evie and Ellie.

Beverly, what precious little girls.

Joy

Oh Beverly, what beautiful little girls.  And, I love the names.

I have been a little lax in S & F lately, but just had to make a comment on those beautiful babies.  Don't even look like "new babies".  Thanks for sharing.   And, Beverly, do hope you are feeling better. Always nice to see your name pop up

Thanks for all the nice comments on the girls. They were one day old in the photo.

Last May my daughter gave me a teacup orchid. It bloomed for about 3 mos. (which is normal) and I didn't expect another bloom for a year. Lo and behold it started again on Christmas. So far it has 7 blooms. It has at least 6 more buds.

Beverly

Okay.......Now I'm hoping to see some more pictures. Old ones are okay! How about some snow photos. I love this Florida weather but I do miss seeing some snow now and then. I took the orchid pic with my I-Phone. Easier than my camera....

Beverly...
... your mention of snow reminds me of 37-38 years ago when myself and my daughter briefly for half a year lived in the Caribbean, St Lucia...I remember telling some slightly older young boys in age to my then daughter 12-13 about snow back in England, well they hadn't a clue what snow was as they had never ventured away from home, and asked me to describe it when i told them i was missing it back home, the hot soaked baths...how does one describe snow to young St Lucian teens who have no idea what snow is-was...i described it the best way i could but their blank expression said it all...
The film " Cool Running's " brings the thought back to life...they too had never seen nor experienced snow before..

On one of me and my now deceased Richards first dating holidays 20 or so years ago, believe it was in Devon, which now is not too far away from where i am now living, neighbouring county..we had visited an Orchid nursery where we bought an unopened plant, sadly we had no luck as it never did open, such a pity as we had bought it as we had seen the same orchids when opened but declined to purchase one already opened, and Orchids are not cheap to buy.....

Beverly, what a beautiful orchid. A few years ago, someone gave me an orchid in a small container, smaller than a teacup, but I have found my former green thumb has gotten brown over the years.

Jackie, that would take some doing, describing snow to someone who has never seen it.  I live in a 4-season state and I like it.  Norm liked Florida and would have lived there all year round.  His/our ancestors would turn over in their graves because we descend from northern European people.  He was proud of his ancestry, but he did want his heat!

Beautiful orchid>  I am jealous, I never had luck with those plants. Yours are just gorgeous.

FlaJean

Beverly, a lovely orchid.  I have had no luck with orchids but my Christmas Cactus blooms each year in December.  It stays on the porch in all weather and all I do is water occasionally.  It probably doesn't get the help it needs but I forget about it.ChristmasCactus.jpg

Gigi took this photo a couple of days ago.  Tazz (left) is 13 years old.  Scruffy on the right is probably 9 years old.  He was a rescue dog so the Vet was guessing.  They've had him about 7 years.

Amy

Jean ,your cactus is beautiful!!! There are more buds yet to open! What ever you're doing you're doing right..
Love the cute pups..

Beverly, lovely orchid ! Mine has just stopped blooming and taking a rest.

Jackie - They are expensive when you consider you may never see a bloom!

Mary Ann - The weather here makes it easier to have a green thumb.  :) I haven't known anyone from up north who've had luck with orchids. They need humidity and not much watering. My daughter bought this at our Publix! It likes my kitchen window.

Jean - Your cactus is beautiful! My granddaughter brought me a cactus in full bloom for Christmas. I hope it does as well as yours. Are you saying you leave it on the porch year round? How about when the temps drop to freezing (which hasn't happened this year). The pups are sweet.

Mary Ann

Jean, your cactus is beautiful.  The foliage looks like a plant I had for years.  As I recall, it blossomed enough for me, but nothing like yours.  Don't ask me what month it bloomed because I don't remember.  For my birthday this year, Jan bought me a (name escapes me right now) and I know they're expensive.  My grandmother bought me one when she lived with us - neither of them lasted a month.  I cringed when I saw what Jan had because I knew what its fate would be (the plant name begins with 'c').  I have only foliage plants now and I should get rid of them and get one African violet because I know I can grow them and I have a north window for them.  Oh well!

Such cute dogs.  I like my cat, but I have always liked dogs because there is more to pet on a dog.  Our dog of long ago was a Heinz variety, but Tom had a pedigree golden.  Both were good pets.

Amy - I just noticed where you are from. So much for my theory about northerners growing orchids.  :) Do you have a special place where you keep it?

Beverly

Mary Ann - Is it a Cyclamen?

Shirley

Beverly, those babies don't look like new born....  they are beautiful!  I kept coming in to see the pics but phone call or "cat need" to be in or out or fed kept me side tracked all week end.  I hope to have a more reasonable week and get things done around here. Our snow barely covered the ground & even though it stayed below freezing, sun melted it too fast for even one slide down the hill on my Sno-Nut!

I also never had an orchid plant, but I don't have good luck  with any house plants.  I have dark tinted storm windows that are wonderful for keeping the house cool in summer and warmer in winter, but not what plants like.  I have a corner of the master bedroom with sliding door on east and floor to ceiling windows on about half the wall on the south, this is where plants go that get too scraggly to be seen. I don't have the heart to throw them away while there is a leaf still green.  Right now I have 3 pots in there that should be cleaned out, but will put it off....

Pretty cactus, Jean, but those pups expressions take the cake!  They look like they are full of ideas, so cute.  Are you seeing the normal amount of birds this winter?  I don't, but may be they realize this is a "Cat House" now.

Mary Ann

Yes, Beverly, it is/was a cyclamen.  I knew when I saw the plant I'd never be able to keep it and it wasn't long before the flowers were gone, then the leaves withered and that was it.  I guess I have a mental block on the name because I can never remember it.

I had a time getting to sleep last night, so slept later than usual and it is getting near time when I MUST get dressed as I have a 1 pm appointment - followup on my new hearing aids.

Mary Ann

Amy

Beverley, it just sits on the kitchen window (east) along with a mini orchid, a mini rose and a African violet.

Mary Ann, if you notice the white small cyclams have a lovely scent..the others one don't.

Mary Ann

Amy, I don't think I've seen a white cyclamen, only a rose color.  Knowing my luck with them, I would never buy one.  I'd buy other plants that I know I can grow.  And right now I don't need any new plants!

Beautiful babies. Look more like 3 months old.

Amy, the white cyclamen is beautiful.  In fact, I think it is a handsome plant, regardless of the color.  Mine is gone and I hope no one gives me one again.  Thanks for the picture.
