Domestic Goddess: Is this correct, if one would like to post/share a recipe, we do so here?  If so, was searching to see if there were separate recipe categories?

TOMEREADER, you mentioned "The Big D"  Are you referring to Dallas?  My Daughter lives in ALLEN, I think we figured it to be the 5th suburb north out of Dallas.  I spent lots of summers there when my 2 granddaughter were growing up.  I was the "summer all purpose person" and I really got around!  They were busy kids!

AMY you're right!  I'll take a fling on the sno-nut!  And I still want to go on one of those zip lines or whatever they call them.

And now I'm off to watch a bit of TV through my eyelids.  It's been a long day!  Christy and Frankie are staying at Frankie's tonight because they have stuff to do in town in the morning.  They'll be back tomorrow afternoon.  So I need all the rest I can get!

Later....maybe!

As I said, I love hearing about your schoolday activities.  I don't recall that I was in any clubs, although there were some.  Neighbor girls and I walked home about 1 1/4 miles but on Friday, I got a ride home with Dad.  We had a former farm next to our house and in winter we made a pie an played out there; I don't remember what we called it, but we had numbers on it.  In summers we played hopscotch and in winters we skiied down the grapevine hill.  In summer we pulled weeds and made shelters in the grapevines.  We did not have much traffic on our street but we played in the field anyway.  Our parents would go to the front doors and holler for us.  Of course. no cell phones.  There were trees in the yards and we'd climb the trees, mostly apple and cherry, eat green apples and I don't recall anyone getting sick from the unripe fruit.  Kids Norm's age congregated around out house and we had a path around the house.  Dad wondered if he'd ever get grass to grow where the kids ran a path around the house.  Back in the field, we played softball and had many broken basement windows from errant balls.  Those were the days, weren't they?

All of that is built over now with no fields to play in.  We  played Jacks on a neighbor's porch and and now if they play them, they use the sidewalks.

Yes, Jane, the Big D, is Dallas.  Born and raised here.  Haven't been to many places, but I'm always glad to arrive at one or the other of the freeways into Dallas.

I might be making a trip to Texas this summer.  Maybe we could meet somewhere and shake hands or have a hug.  There's another lady who lives in the Dallas area and I've met her, too!

I'm off to bed and tomorrow will be a busy day.  Might not have a chance to check in but I'll sure try.  In the meantime, I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Mary Ann, I wasn't in any clubs, certainly not the singing ones...I have a "booming" voice but can't carry a tune, I could sing harmony okay in grade school, but no glee clubs or all the other clubs in high school. I didn't know I had a booming voice until my sister in law was saying their gr-daughter has my booming voice. Not sure it was a compliment, but guess it comes from being that youngest child & wanting to be heard now & then. My best friend (that had all the crazy ideas), & I were cheerleaders our Junior & Senior years of high school and we sure could yell. The groups of girls were called "clicks" back in those days, but I really was comfortable mingling with the whole class.

Tome, for sure, that last stretch of getting home is special...

Jane, when I was little 2 of my brothers (one at the top & the other caught me) let me hang from Mom's clothesline, we lived on a steep hill... much like the zip lines.... but don't think it happened but once. I never cried if I got hurt but I do think my hands were sore & they didn't want to get into trouble. I don't recall any uproar about it. My sister was delicate & all girl, we had nothing in common. ::) She was a whiz at jacks and loved her dolls & paper dolls.

Do you suppose everybody had those cherry & apple trees, we also had a pear tree... because they were left over from the farms. Our house was an old farm house, we moved at the end of WWII. There were no houses around. We had all kinds of berries & walnut trees, persimmon tree & even wild asparagus grew in the field out back. My mother was a pie maker, Dad's favorites were apple & cherry, but she made the best cream pies you ever tasted. Nobody every got her recipe right, by the time I asked for it she had forgotten exactly ... had to know what it looked like, to tell if it was right. I tested the same flavor in a French restaurant one time but when I went back the original bakers had sold & new people didn't have a clue how to make it. All I remember was she cooked about a dozen egg yolks in a double boiler.... and that's where I gave up, had to know the "look" when to take it off. My mother's gr-mother had a big influence on her since her mother died so young (Mom was 7)... I didn't like to eat when I was young but now & then I can taste something that rings a bell in my memory. I love going back to the county where my parents grew up, for the October fests. German & French little towns & quite a few of the people still fix the same foods their mothers & gr-mothers fixed. We have a little town NW of Wichita that some of those same families migrated to and I've been to their fund raiser meals that are truly the home made German sausages, coleslaw, pies, etc. Yum..

Must get to bed, 5:00 am rolls around pretty fast. I leave the house at 7:00 & will be gone longer than usual. After church & McDonald's I am going to stop & visit with my oldest gr-daughter & family from Seattle. They didn't want to get up early to meet us, their kids are 4 & 2, & hard to change time zones with little ones.

Good night, Every Friend... haha, Lloyd, I'll bet there won't be much sleeping in that house full of little girls!
