I'm still sick - guess this thing is going to last the full two weeks (a cold lasts 2 weeks with treatment, and 14 days without).  That's until Sunday. I hope it's gone then.

A line of severe storms went through here last night, and we were under a tornado watch. We all had to go into the hall, away from windows. They wouldn't let me hide in my bathroom, so I just tried to stay away from everybody else. It's the first time I've been out of my room in 10 days. But at least we didn't have any tornadoes - just a lot of rain and flash flood watches.

Stay well, Buddies!

Mary...hope you're feeling better.

Another cloudy, gloomy day here in Iowa and in 40s.  I took my garbage and recycles to the curb for tomorrow pickup and neighbor next door to the north came out on his porch and we yelled back and forth to each other.
He said he's working from home for next two weeks and to call if I need anything.  They have helped me in the past when Ray was alive and ill.  Their 4 kids have done my snow removal every year...just good people!

Both my banks have called...they're closed...sort of...and said to call them if need to get in to safety deposit box, etc. or for anything else.  Both women were working from home.  I mailed back my signed tax papers so they can electronically file so that's taken care of, even though we have now until July 15.

I did some laundry and talked to my sister.  She and niece keep in touch, even though they're both far away and both are on lockdown now...one in Ohio and one in WI.  I keep saying I"m going to clean out this desk...but not gotten to it yet.  Maybe tomorrow?? :idiot2:

Louisiana is sure going to be a "hot spot" from the TV news...Mardi Gras brought in a lot of virus, apparently...and I suspect FL will be, too, with NYers flying down there and the spring breakers.  I think I mentioned if we leave Iowa, we have to quarantine or 14 days upon return.

SharonE

It's really a strange time. I hope we all come through it okay.

The lady who is going to stage our house for the photographs and viewings is coming at 1:00, so I've been trying to redd everything up and we had to reconfigure my den after the bookcases were gone. It looks a lot better. John helped me with the den and carrying things I couldn't handle. It will be interesting to see what she has to say about things. We are taking Bunny and picking up some sandwiches and going to the soft-ball diamond to let her run and us eat while the gal does her thing. Then she will email us her suggestions. That way, none of us need to be near each other. I put out some nitrile gloves for her and some Clorox wipes and will wipe everything down after she leaves.

The man who was going to take the drone pics came yesterday, but both neighbors were out pressure washing their houses and he didn't want that in the pic, so he'll come later this week or maybe today.  The videographer is coming next Thurs to take all the pics for the web. After they are posted you can take a look at them if you like.

I could have sold my bookcases 3 or 4 times.  It kept me busy answering the questions.  I lowered the price on my dining set, but no nibbles yet and none on my glass-topped breakfast table. Both are so pretty, I don't know why.  But I'm biased I guess.

Nothing else on the docket for today except laundry and reading. Sounds like that's about all any of us are doing.  Jane, aren't you afraid of going to WalMart?  I am.  John did the grocery shopping today. Still no TP.

Have a good day and stay safe.  Sharon

So far the three of us are doing okay .  I haven't been off the property since last Friday when I went to the grocery store during senior's hour .  I'm planning to go again tomorrow morning early also .  At times I have cabin fever & get depressed but I realize its for my own good .  I have been keeping busy with daily chores & crocheting .  I cancelled all of my medical appts. & this morning our primary doctor's office called to let us know the office is closed . If we need the doctor we can call & leave a message .  Norm (my husband ) has been calling church members & car club members checking on them .  He misses working in the yard because it has been raining & cold even though we live in southern California . Car club activities have been cancelled too , no old car swap meet or tours .  My crochet class has been cancelled also .

jane

Alpiner...everything has been cancelled or closed here now for several weeks, too.

Sharon...My choices in this small town are limited and WalMart is my only choice here for some products I use, including my prescriptions, so I go there.  We have another grocery store, but it's smaller and more crowded usually.  I often went to both before this Shelter in Place order, but now I just do everything at WalMart that I can.

I'm hoping it'll warm up a bit so I can walk outside before the rain comes tonight...and all day tomorrow.

Stay safe and healthy!

jane

SharonE

Well, that makes sense for you, Jane.  We have a grocery and a CVS around the corner.

Alpiner, if you're bored come on down and you can help me pack and sort.:) I am so tired of all this stuff. I wouldn't have time to go out if I could.

My grand daughter and hubby are having to work from home and they have a 5 yr old and a 2 yr old and the day care is closed, so they are pulling their hair out. I guess they are taking 4 hour shifts and then finishing after the boys go to bed.  I had 3 at home for 8 yrs with no daycare till Kindergarten, but I wasn't working then. I did start my Masters when Brian was 2 and that was hard enough.

Hope everyone is okay. So far, we are.  Hi to all. Sharon

JeanneP

Lots of mother are now finding out how hard it is to stay home all the time watching over their children. Now maybe not be thinking that stay at home mothers are so lucky.
Pouring down here again. Seems like every day. It is supposed to be 72 deg but doesn't feel like it. My heat is still running.
Sharon. Now if you are selling all your furniture such as dining tables etc does that mean you will be going out to buy new. I have not changed most of mine for 50 years its seems.Have changed the sofa but not the wood furniture. I bought all Ethen Allen back then and still love it. Would like a smaller bed but can't change my big Brass one.  Little late now.
Let me know when the video of your home comes into FB. Sounds like it is really nice. Should sell fast.

Good morning, Jeanne and Every Buddy looking in.  Tim was here about an hour ago to go over some paper work with me.  I have just been piddlin' around as it is damp/rainy outside.  I'll probably spend the rest of the day reading.  It's been raining off and on.  I did have a nice phone call from my half-brother in California.  We had a nice talk and it was great to hear from Jeff.

Not much else to report this morning.  I'm going to watch the news on our local channel now.  Lots of caronna virus here in Alabama.

Sue

SharonE

No, Jeanne, I'm not selling all my furniture, only what won't fit in the new apt. Since there is a dining service, we don't need the tables and the book cases take too much room.  Most of my furniture is 50 yrs old too. If you buy good, it lasts.

Sorry for your rain. It's sunny and 82 here.

Just got a list from the stager who wants us to pack up all kinds of things, take art off walls move items, etc. Even take the drapes down and roll up the rug in my den.  A lot of it won't get done. I've removed all photos and plan to clear up some things, but I'm not going to remove everything. She even wanted us to pack up 3 end tables.  What a hassle.
Sharon

jane

It's only in the low 50s here, but we had a bit of sun a few hours ago, so I got out my parka and hat and did walk outside a few blocks.  It felt good to get out in the fresh air, until the joints started to protest, so I turned around and came home.

Sharon....that sounds like a big hassle that the stager wants.  Good luck.

Jeanne...wow...72.  I wish we'd get to that...but 50s seems all we can manage here.

Sue...our news said there was a lot of coronavirus in the Birmingham area and spreading all across the South.

Mary...hope you're feeling better.

Stay safe and healthy, Buddies!

Jane. May have said 72 in the paper and weatherman but never stopped raining.feels like 40 to me.
I have been cooking like crazy. My favourite thing. Now got 7 full dinners inthe freezer. Just going through them to fast with staying in. Been 10 days since I went grocery shopping. Fresh veg seems to be getting sad looking now in a week I decided better use it all .this I did . I won't go over the weekend but Tuesday for sure. The neighbor dropped off bread and mil for me.
Sue that lady sounds like she is asking a lot of you. I thought that was part of their job. Setting the house up. Is there a auction planned soon?. Will be awhile. Even your move will be changed.

Good morning, Jeanne and Every Buddy looking in.  It's just after 11:00 here.  I've been piddlin' around eating breakfast and reading the paper.  I've had phone calls from Jon and Alex, as well as Bill.  They are all concerned about the Corona Virus which is here in Auburn.  I have stayed away from church for several weeks.  My pastor called this week to check on me.  I am fine, but BORED!

I hope Every Buddy is well and staying away from anyone who may have had contact with the Corona Virus.  There seem to be quite a few infections here and I am not walking much and am trying to stay away from my neighbors.  Most of the younger ones work outside of their homes.  I did wake up to find a note on my door from a couple who live near me offering to do chores if I need them.  So far I am able to do everything I need done, so will keep this in mind, but will not call on them for now.

I hope Every Buddy is well and that you stay that way.  Take care every one and avoid crowds when possible!

I think  we are all getting a little bored staying home. Isn't it funny. Has been times when cold out that I have gone this ienghth of time stuck in house and happy to do it. Not driven my car for 10 days. I am not about to go out over the weekend but will on Monday. I need some face cream and water bad. Still o.k on food. So quiet here. sill raining so no walking again today. slowed down on the munching though.
I have been using messenger on my new phone. Didn't have it before .It has to tie into Facebook. I don't understand how it works. just pushing faces that show up on it. Talked to family in u.k twice today and a friend in U.s. Two of them are not even on Facebook and their tel.numbers I did not have but here they pop up on my phone. so weird. Will have to get with some smarter person than me to explain it once we can go out.

Marilyn

hello everyone,, thought I better check in. We are both fine just hanging in  here and only going out to take Freckles for her daily walks vand to get groceries.

I had a wonderful 1.5 hour talk with my estranged daughter yesterday We talked  o a lot about family history on my side and told her things she had never known. We have been talking a lot since Ronnie's death in  January.

Today I was  making  bread dough in my bread machine and about  90 minutes into the 1 hour 20 minutes the machine stopped. I went to to see why and Keith was there telling me he unplugged the machine because it made too much noise. I was so angry with him.  The bread turned out OK, I had to take it out rather than restart the machine.  I haven't cut it yet so I hope it is  as good as it would have been on the inside.

I need a vacation!!!! Alone. I got ready for my shower this morning and there he was  ready to get in  with me. He did and I told him that is not going to happen again because I like to take my time in the shower and not have to take care of both of us after I get out. I have to help him dress. Enough of my  complaining now. See you al  tomorrow. God Bless and be safe.

jane

Sue...I am surprised your churches are still open. Ours and now all stores except for grocery and pharmacies and those with ag products are closed. Restaurants are drive through or take out only.  We have no reported cases in my county, so I'm glad they are being strict.

Jeanne...I'll go out Mon or Tues to WalMart and maybe drive back the long way for a bit of different scenery.

I spent a half hour in basement when we had tornado warnings here.  Today we have wind advisory...50 to 60 mph and scattered rain.  There will be lots of limbs to pick up.

Mary...how are you feeling?

Marilyn....wonderful you've reconnected with daughter. I'm guessing getting K in the shower with you is the only way to get him in there. I can't begin to imagine your frustration with dealing with his mental state.

Sharon....hope you can get all stuff done the stager wants that you choose to do.

I read an article about city people going to their summer cabins/vacation homes in rural areas.  Niece said it's happening up in N. Wisc.  She said the summer people from MPLS and Milwaukee and Chicago, etc. are arriving en masse.

Stay safe and Healthy, Babes!

Good morning Buddies....seems really strange to not be going to church....like most others..it is closed....I'm going to try and get to walmart Tuesday or Wendsday...running out of things...no virus reported here...yet...but afraid that will change...hope everyone is staying safe and praying these restrictions be over soon

jane

Darlene...good to see your post and know all if ok there.

The wind is so strong it blew the top...secured with a bungie cord,  off the top of my birdfeeder. :-\

Marilyn

Good Morning. Jane I can usually get him to shower in his own master bathroom by preparing the water and standing outside the show making sure he washes and shmpooes his hair.I had a handheld shower installed in  that bath. I don't use that  shower I use one in the hall, the shower is higher and can stand under to wash my hair.I much perfer to shower alone.

All is well here, pouring rain, so Freckles will only get her walks if I put on my rain suit and she wears her raincoat.

I think I'm back among the living, Buddies! At least, I've been to the dining room for breakfast and lunch so far today.

It's good to keep up with everybody.

jane, I'm glad you didn't get that bad weather yesterday. The southern end of it came through here about 2 a.m. this morning. We just got a thunderstorm.

Marilyn, I'm so sorry about all you're going through. I know Keith doesn't understand or remember anything, but that doesn't make it easier for you. My friend in Chattanooga (whose husband has Alzheimer's) had to put him in a facility a couple of months ago. She said it was the hardest thing she ever had to do. Tough stuff!

Sharon, do you have a moving date yet? If you've told us, I don't remember.

Most of the places are closed here, too (at least I think they are). Margaret's church had a "drive-through" communion this morning. Our governor has NOT ordered a stay-at-home situation - which I think is crazy. But what do I know. The KY governor has ordered his citizens not to go to Tennessee for the duration. Doesn't make for very good neighbors.

Stay well, Buddies!

we didn't get the tornadoes that they said were coming but we still have such hard winds. Loosing lot of tree limbs that my trees can't afford to loose and still give shade.
Instill have not been out. I have 4 big stores within 3 miles of me but walmarts being the closest. I just don't care for buying groceries there. O.k for  medical, cosmetic and things. Good for tech. Or electronics but now they don't keep lots of stuff I use to buy there on the shelves. Have to order most on line and pick up in 2 days.
Sun I out now and would like to take a walk. Would blow me away.
I have tried so many kinds of BP meds this year that didn't work. Got on one 2 months ago that seems to be right. Not felt so relaxed for ages and BP where
it should be. Fact better for my age. Only med I take and would like to not take any but dr. Says better to stay now. I agree.

Good Morning, Babes!

NO RAIN....and something bright and wonderful up in the sky!  Hurrah for sunshine.

I got my lazy bones up and out of bed early...for me...and was in and out of WalMart by 8:15 am with over $100. in groceries and allergy drops for my eyes. Yep, they even had 12 roll packages of TP...and one pkg to a customer.  The eggs case was back to full, too.  There were only a few men shopping and I got organic, ultra pasturized milk that's good until May!  It costs more, but it lasts me so much longer.  I no longer have to throw away a 1/2 carton.

I did take the long way home through the country, for a change of scenery and didn't see another vehicle until I got to the road to my house.  Construction on this highway is to start at the far end of town on April 1...and that's by WalMart, so I'm ahead of that, too.

Take care and stay safe and healthy.

I took my BP this morning shows 137/59/64. The two I take together are Losartan, and the new one Verapamil. It seems to be the one helped not Losartan alone. The new one cost 3 times more bu comes down when I got the 90 days.

Good morning, Jeanne and Every Buddy looking in.  I've been up for quite a while. Tim called to check on me.  He and Kris are staying home like most everyone I know.  They are self employed, so manage to take time at home when they can.

Not much else going on here today.  I will go outside for my daily walk shortly.  It is sunny and seems warmer than it has been the last few days.  Fortunately for me not many of my neighbors walk outside so I won't be exposed to anyone who is not well.

I hope Every Buddy is well and able to stay away from people who may have the virus.  Take care Every Buddy!

Proof is . You have to stay away from others. I am not understanding this virus. Close to me now in Illinois another senior nursing  home just been found by one women dying and tested the others and found 11 out of 14 are positive and also a large appt building with 40 people now hit with many sick with it. the seniors eat in their own rooms and stay in .the place is cleaned all the time. How does it get in.
I am beginning to think it is in the air. Not just from touching things. So I am doing my walking just on the country areas. Not if windy like was yesterday . 56 mah. Sunny and no wind today.
JeanneP

Cottoncandy

Thank you Jeanne for that information..haven't tried the verpamil...will ask my Dr about it...I'm still walking around the track...usually not close to anyone..it's warm to hot here. Darlene

jane

Jeanne....I don't think 'they' know all there is to learn about this virus.
There seem to be people who are asymtomatic (sp?)...i.e., they have NO signs of the disease, but they are carriers of it....or it's in the air, as you said.

My County here has 0 reported cases, but who knows. NO visitors to the hospital or the nursing home, etc.  And, all the closures everyone else has.

The temp has now gotten to 62 outside by my kitchen indoor/outdoor thermometer, so I think I'll get my jacket on and get a walk in while the sun is out.

Stay safe and healthy, Babes!

jane

SharonE

Marilyn, so glad to see your post and to hear that you had a long talk with your estranged daughter. Maybe she has come to realize how important family is.  I feel so sorry for your trials with Keith. I had an aunt who had to be cared for constantly, although it wasn't Alzheimers.

Mary, I'm glad to see your post too and to hear that you are up and eating in the restaurant.

Sue, it sounds like you are following the rules and staying away from people. We are too. Our church is closed too and practically everything else non essential.

Jane, it must be lonely for you in the midst of this mess.

Jeanne, the last thing I would do is cook that much! I used to like to do it, but not anymore.

We have been working our tails off for the past 3 days. I don't know how John is doing as much as he is. He just finished rolling up a room size rug out of my den, which we will donate. The apt is carpeted. We don't have a choice. The stager wanted it out of here to show off the hardwood and to make the room look larger. I think the things she suggested are for the most part stupid, but we're going along with it. All photos down, most pictures, no bric a brac, no drapes, etc. We are doing some of it and compromising on some of it. To me, it looks like a barn without decoration. The last house I sold, I did none of that and the women who bought it said it was because I had decorated it so nicely.

My cleaning girl isn't coming Wed because of the virus, so we're going to have to clean everything Wed for the videographing. I was a little leary of having her in, but I sure need her.

If you don't hear from me, it's because I've collapsed from over work!!

Stay safe everyone. Hi Darlene. Glad you're okay too.  Sharon

JeanneP

I don't know if I would let her in my house. She will have been in a lot of places. I would just sit back for another month.
Just to much happening now down in my area of Illinos. Not just chicago.
New tonight. A small church had a small gathering of 25 people. Not yesterday but prior sunday. 11 have come down with it. Also another Nursing home. I still can't figure how and so I am just being really cautious. I have not had anyone in the house from before it started so going to keep it that way.
Cleaned up the yard a little as it was nice out. I have 10 acres West of Me and 100 ft. in front Country Road and
at least 300 ft east over the road and so feel  far enough away. Better safe than sorry.
