Jean - Those bird photos are great! I've never been able to get good pictures of birds. What do you have for a camera?

Donklan - Wow! Beautiful photo!

angelface555

Jean, excellent, bright, and sharp photos of the dove and bluebird!

While we have a number of different doves here in the Interior and some bluebirds, but none quite like your bluebird. I went looking and found that ours are a Bluethroat, "Alaska Department of Fish and Game. Bluethroat. A small, brightly colored bird of the far north, the bluethroat (Luscinia svecica)  found in North America only on the tundra of Alaska and the Yukon Territory. "

And a Blue Warbler, "Black-throated Blue Warbler: Small warbler that is the most strikingly sexually dimorphic of all wood warblers. The Male has dark blue upperparts, black throat, and mask. White underparts with black sides and white wing patch at base of primaries. Bill, legs, and feet are black. The female is olive-brown. It is common across Europe and Asia, however, where it is not restricted to tundra habitat."

angelface555

Don, that is a gorgeous night view of the Duluth cam area!

What a great photo!

I'm no longer a redhead.  :'(

Patricia  - You look very stylish, in that blue mask!  That's the preferred color for masks this season! ;D   Your hair looks good!   Are your beauty and barber shops open again for cuts, or did you cut it yourself?  Our shops are still closed, and will be for another month!  :(

Marilyn, my  friend Dora normally cuts hair for a small fee or barter. However, I haven't seen her since mid March.

I know they were talking about opening but then they started having more cases and deaths. We haven't had any local cases in two weeks but a city 25 miles south of us is having one or two new cases daily. Southeastern cities are having five or more daily still.

It's too soon in my opinion.

I think your hair looks great as it is.  You should stop coloring it.

My dilemma is always glasses on top or under the mask?
It's the same for bearded men: on top or under the blankets when in bed? lol

Amy

That gave me a giggle... poor men such a decision!!

Donklan - What a gorgeous picture of the Duluth Bridge!  The bridge cam is my first and favorite  - I never tire of watching it!

angelface555

Bubble, I chuckled along with Amy about breaded men. Something I never before considered!  :-\

I stopped coloring the gray in January 2019, But that gray is soft, wavier, and in better condition than my previous argumented color.

Re glasses, if they went under the mask, they'd fog up! I have breathing issues with it but then I rarely go out.

FlaJean

I believe this is a sparrow.  I'm fond of autumn colors so I like his coloring.  He was on the bird swing just looking around.

Beverly, I have a Panasonic--I used the zoom.

Vanilla-Jackie

FlaJean...
...you captured a great close up photo of a beautiful bird..

Beverly

Jean - Another good one! I have a Canon SX30IS but don't do much with it except "point and shoot". I do use the zoom a lot. Lately I haven't taken many pictures.

Angelface - That's a good mask. I haven't seen one just like that before.

so_P_bubble

a superb bird - for sure a male. ;D

About the glasses fogging, if you wash them with soap then rince and dry, they will not fog with your breath.
I suppose you could also wipe them with a cut onion, since that trick works on windshield of the car in winter.  But there is smell of course...

angelface555

Bev, I'm not sure what to do with the mask's bottom string? Either I have a small head or a mislabeled-sized, "small" mask! The wearing of masks is de rigueur for this building's public spaces or in the city.

Bubble, I have multiple cleaning spray and cloths for glasses stashed here and there, but I will have to try plain soap.

Amy

Patricia, the bottom elastic goes to the top of your head and the one at the top just goes behind your head. This is to give you a tighter fit of the mask.

SHIRLEY, you must have already gone down that path to the river because you're not in any of the pictures.  I feel like I've just had a visit with your house and I missed YOU!!

JaneS  I am with you in my overhauls and V A provided shoes I would feel out of place. I need to figure out how to post a picture of our house. I have pictures of our house on this computer but do not rember how to make them show here in S 7 F. we  have bright sun and 41º calling for high of 61º today.

Lloyd

Shirley

Not sure what world I've been living in but have missed this spot for quite a while!  Thank you Bubble, for posting for me and thanks for the link to here. My internet is off & on constantly this morning (instantly) so will not try to cover all the "new" photos that showed up since last I was here. What neat bird photos as well as the people ones. Sorry I missed Aviv's birthday party, but he does look very happy. I'm hearing that all 7 of my great grands are having a ball with Mom & Dad home all day, in spite of the "learning" sessions.

Thanks for the comments about the house & pool, and thanks to Bubble for resizing & posting. I've tried the newer versions of PSP but cannot learn how to operate, it was only the help of the group of Friends that used PSP a lot that taught me what I knew back then. Since I talk about going down to the river to talk to & feed the fish, I wanted to show how it was located. Last night I got ambitious & weed whacked & used my loppers to chop off the many little trees trying to take over the bank, so got out the camera to show all my hard work. The city mows the hill about once a month & my yard guys mow the flat part behind the fence & a path down to the river. I planted some of those trees, the whole bank of tiger lilies & wisteria traveling up one tree & now venturing all across one side of the path. Most of the trees just showed up, no clue where they come from, but I chop off the young mulberries & scrub elm. I do love my woods. Not a tree in sight when we bought the house back in 1988. It really is hard to find help to take care of yard & house, I try not to call on my kids since they all have their own houses to take care of, but they do come when I call. After considering what it costs to live in Senior Housing, I know it costs much less to live here ... but I have got to find some trustworthy couple that can help keep up. This old lady is happy at home but it sure needs a cleaning out, my days of saving stuff "in case we might need".... has caught up with me. Do you have trouble throwing away a perfectly good nail "in case"..???

Sandy

Good Morming Everyone!

I love the Birds and the Flowers and
last but not least,  Shirleys home..

Wow... it is beautiful!  What  a lovely
place to live.    Thanks for sharing ..
so now I can visualize where you
are going when you go down to the river.

Enjoy every day and every minute in the future
I forget what state that you live in..

Thanks for Sharing Shirley!

FlaJean

Shirley, what a lovely view.  I can imagine you walking down to the river to feed the fish or other animals.

Shirley

Thank you, Jane, Jean & Sandy.... I know how different we imagine what others' areas are like so wanted to show the "real Kansas".... When we first moved to Kansas I told my husband I would haunt him if he buried me in this state. But this is home, his ashes are in a niche' and I've paid for the one next to it for me. I hope to stay here until that time, partly because the cats call this home and can't be moved, but partly because it is never boring with the river changing all the time as well as the weather. It is brewing up something today, so far only light rain but the sky looks wicked. Internet off again. Had a couple weeks with no problem & same ole today...

Shirley.
Beautiful home and land. But so big. I would never be able to take care. Lost my yard man fore 27 years and still can't find one to take care of 200 ft square. Yours perfect. I don't see paying out thousands of dollars a month for senior housing either.. I like privacy and so hope we can stay the way we are. I don't see your river.

Today, going to town to get some flowers:  I need to see some colors in the house and my vase will cheer me up no end.

But  then I realized I had forgotten to take my gloves!

Joy

Good morning.

Thank you all for the nice birthday greetings.  It was a quiet day, but I did get a lot of cards and had some phone calls.  I had a lot of wishes on Facebook from a lot of my nieces and nephews, and old friends. Always nice to hear from old friends.  My son wanted to bring dinner, but I told him just to wait until Sunday and combine it with Mothers Day. He will stay and eat with me.  Will have  crab cakes from our favorite place up the road from me.  I am sure there will be lots of special celebrations after all this mess is overwith. (if it ever is).

Shirley, really enjoyed seeing your place.  Looks so nice, but a  lot of house and ground for you to take care of.

Bubble, loved seeing you out and about.  Glad you were able to get your pretty flowers.  I did see where some of our garden centers will be open this week end. There are still a lot of places that people are not allowed to go to yet.

A big Maryland resort area at the beach, (Ocean City, Md.) is scheduled to open on Saturday, which most people think is a BIG mistake. I am sure people will just be flocking down there in droves.  Big time for Seniors graduating from school, and I can imagine a lot of them will be going.

Hope everyone is staying safe.

Joy

FlaJean

Bubble, what pretty flowers.  Getting outside was also a treat.

Happy Birthday Joy.  Your mothers' day treat of crab cake sounds delicious.
