Thanks for the meatloaf link Callie. QO no longer prints the recipe on their box. I used to make that recipe, but I would add some chopped green pepper if I had it and, if I wanted a little more moisture, just a little pickle juice, Now that you have found recipe again, I can get the proportions better (and I see I came pretty close to remembering). Some folks used to like to spread a little Ketchup over the top and/or melt some cheese over the top.

:balloons: Happy Birthday, Joy. Have a wonderful day.

The traffic on I81 and I83 on Tuesday was brisk again, and soon it will be back to nerve-wracking normal. People are jumping the gun on the restriction easing. Surprise, surprise! I noticed a couple of the restaurants I pass were busy taking in supplies, etc., I suppose, in anticipation of reopening soon, or maybe they just needed to restock from running a brisk take-out/delivery business during the lock-down.

I plan on mowing the backyard this afternoon if it is dried out enough from yesterday's rain.

Rammel, have tried using Clorox on the mildew but it seems to involve getting down and scrubbing with a brush. Ummm... ...  wanna volunteer?  ;D

Meat Loaf I make:

1 pound ground beef
1 egg
1 small can tomato sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
(can add chopped onions, peppers, whatever.  I don't care for peppers and onions don't like me - so I use onion powder)

Mix together with 1/2 of the tomato sauce and add enough dry oatmeal to hold mixture together - but not too much or it will be dry. (I have never measured this - kinda depends on how moist the ground beef is).

Form loaf and place in pan.  Pour the rest of the tomato sauce over the loaf.
Bake at 350º for 1 hour.

MarsGal, good idea to add the pickle juice.  I'm guessing jalepeno peppers/juice might be the choice in this part of the country. I've used ketchup when I didn't have tomato sauce.

DIL heard me say I'd like to have some New Guinea impatiens and a couple of coleus (coleuses?....coleusii?....anyway, 2 of them  ;) ) and brought them to me yesterday.  Plan du Jour is to get them in patio pots - hopefully before the predicted rain/hail/wind arrives later this evening.

Enjoy your day, Everyfriend.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JOY

Good morning, Every Bait and Tackler looking in this morning.  I am planning a good walk shortly--mostly down hill on the going down, but I'll be puffing and panting on the return up the hill!

Not much else going on here this morning.  It's bright and sunny here this morning and I need to clear off my sidewalk.  Lots of weeds and too many shrubs which are overgrown.

Have a nice day, Every One!

Yes. I am back in also on d IPad.

We are getting our clan back, one by one...Good seeing you back in Jenny - Jeanne P...

It's so good to be able to use my iPad on the forum again.  I do so much on my iPad and only use my desktop computer for making cards or videos.

Marilyne, I made the ice cream bread using the butter pecan Häagen Dazs and it is really good.  Next time I'm going to try the caramel flavored.  I lightly heated the buttered slice in the toaster oven.  Yum.  Who knew that such a simple recipe would be so good.

It is a little cooler today and the sun is shining brightly.  One of those rare days with low humidity.

Callie, i have used bleach in a small area to get rid of mildew using a long handled brush, but we have a wide driveway and two small porches, etc., etc., so Larry always cleans them once a year using his pressure washer and plain water.

I hope everyone is having a good day.

JeanneP

I haven't tried the ice cream bread yet. How far back does that recipe go? I didn't copy it.
I still need Togo out D buy a birthday card before Wednesday.better hurry as it goes out of town.
So lazy today. Sun is out and nice . Can't believe it is going down to low 30s weekend. Some of the high schools were planning walks outdoors wearing their gowns Friday. Think 6 ft apart. Don't know about masks. These are just the small school. The big 2 are thinking later in e year. I don't think university will do anything. So many there are out f state or country so will not be back.

I'm so happy to see that Safari is working again for Seniors and Friends!  Good to see Jenny, Jean, JeanneP, and all those members who have checked in and said 'hello', in other folders!

Jean - Even though you were able to post from your computer, I know you're happier using your iPad.  I'm glad you liked the ice cream bread!  I'm anxious to make it, but still don't have the self rising flour.

Callie - I posted last night after dinner, to tell you and Beverly, how much we enjoyed the old familiar family meatloaf!  We'll eat the rest of it tonight, and I'm looking forward to it.  Might even be some left over for sandwiches tomorrow.

I spent the afternoon watching a good movie, that I think you all would like.  The Art of Racing in the Rain.  I had read the book, and actually liked the movie better than the book!  It was free for me, on my Comcast movies.  I recommend it highly.

Joy

Good evening.

First of all, THANK TOU for the birthday wishes.  It has been a busy day with telephone calls and lots of birthday messages on Facebook from so many friends and relatives. Nice to be remembered.

Also, got a grocery delivery and spent a long time, again today, trying to get a RX straightened out.  Hope it is fixed now. Won't know until tomorrow when I get an e-mail telling me it has been mailed.

My kids wanted to bring me dinner, but I told them to wait until Sunday.  My middle son has been sick with a bad cold and they are just planning staying home.  He thinks it is either a sinus infection or allergies.  He doesn't have a fever, but when he called the doctor, he said he should go get the test for the virus thing.  Hopefully, it will be nothing to worry about.  My youngest son will bring dinner and stay around to eat with me on Sunday.  When all this mess is overwith,  I am planning on having a big get together to celebrate all the special days that we have missed.

Time to clean up my supper dishes, and then watch a movie.

Again, thanks for the nice birthday wishes.

I don't believe in getting down and scrubbing. If I got down I would have to stay there. I have used Clorox from a pail on cement & bluestone steps on North side of house and more or less just brushed it on (no scrubbing). Also used successfully on cement apron in front of garage. Made the green  go away.

Will be trying that meatloaf recipe - thanks.

If I got down I would have to stay there.  Me, too!

Actually, this is probably caused by a drip from a "trellis" covering the patio.  When/If this virus mess settle down, I'll need to call someone to take a look at that.

Hope the meat loaf turns out well.

Good morning all you Bait and Tacklers.  I haven't been outside yet for my daily walk, but am dressed and plan to do that soon.  My son brought me a face mask he made for me yesterday.  Most of my young neighbors go to work early and I rarely see anyone when I'm out walking.  The mask fits well and I think I'll be able to get my walk in without a problem while wearing it.

Not much else going on here today.  It's cloudy and may rain later this afternoon.  So I'd better get busy and out of here so that I don't get wet!

GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE  💐

So happy to be here and welcome back to everyone that made it back in also!

BELATED HAPPY BIRTHDAY WISHES 🎂 JOY 🎉   How exciting to know that you will be able to be with your youngest son on Mother's Day 💗

I got on my iPad to look at the outdoor cameras to see if the grass watered out front and saw my youngest son scurrying up to the door with a beautiful flower arrangement and a gift..... this was around 7:15 AM.  I was SO excited to see him and watched him come and go, but it made me sad to know that he was RIGHT HERE and I did not get to see him in person😢😢

JEAN, we have been watching the fires down your way.  They are scary to see, and I hope things are better now.

MARILYNE, when I read the names of us that were locked out, I had to laugh thinking it just did not want SOME OF  the "J's" to be able to post 🤣
I thought about AJ and sure hoped he was continuing to feel stronger each day.

It is another beautiful day, so I am going to get outside and get me some Vitimin C🌞🌞🌞

Enjoy your day 💗

Jenny...
... no not at all dumb, just humerus...kind of reminds me of our dear Joan FL, she would always say a special good morning to the three J's, we were always the first members in...

Marilyne

Jenny and Jackie -  unfortunately we have lost many of our J's, here in S&F, but we still have lots of members  whose names start with J.  Two Jane's, two Jean's, Junee, Joy, Johann Mc, Joanne (Tomereader), and occasionally we still hear from Jaywalker.  (I hope I didn't leave anybody out?).   I have heard that there are more first names that start with J, than any other letter of the alphabet. (Both male and female)

Jenny - sorry you didn't get to give your son a hug, when he brought you the flowers and gift. :(   I know exactly how you feel.  All three of my adult kids have had birthdays come and go, during the coronavirus lockdown.  Brad's was March 20, Sandy's, April 1, and Shelley's was yesterday, May 7th.    We didn't see any of them on their special days, but we plan to have a big party some time this summer, and celebrate all three together.

Jackie - I hope you're feeling better and that your leg is beginning to heal?    It looks like you're getting good treatment, so you should be showing improvement soon?

Joy - sounds like you got lots of attention from your family members yesterday on your birthday - even though you couldn't see them in person. You will be getting a nice dinner for Mother's Day, which is something to look forward to.  As I mentioned above, my oldest daughter's birthday is also May 7th, and of course she was sheltering in place, with her youngest, Claire.  Her oldest, Ashley, called her and they talked for a long time.  She will be getting more attention on Mother's Day, as well, I hope.

Hi to Sue, Callie, RAMMEL, Jean, JeanneP, MarsGal, Beverly, Sandy and Tome.  Hope we hear from all of you today??   :)

FlaJean

Well, I wrote a post but evidently I was sidetracked on something and forgot to post it so I'll try again.😊

Today was a beautiful day and this morning we drove up to Crestview (20 miles from us)to get some items from the closest Staples.  This is a small town and if Walmart doesn't have what you need you either buy online or go to another town.  However we enjoyed the ride and didn't put on the masks and gloves until we got to the store.

While we were in Crestview we ordered a couple of take out meals from Cracker Barrel.  Their selection was limited but we got the country fried steak to bring home for dinner.  We enjoyed getting out of the house and enjoyed the food when we got home.

Joy, I know you are looking forward to your Mother's Day meal with your son.  Crab cakes sound good.

Everything is going good here.  I hope all of you had or are having a good day.

Denver

MARILYNE, I had no idea that the letter J was that popular....interesting😘 I am sorry your family has missed those important Birthdays....so sad how this virus has stop our world in it's tracks.  We all sure look forward to the day we can be with our family and friends and get those special HUGS we have been missing❣️ I have recently looked at a list of past senior friends and could not believe how many we have lost....makes me very sad to think how much longer many of us will still be here together 😩

JACKIE, I, too hope your meds are kicking in and you are doing better.

HA HA HA HA, CALLIE, the chosen J's!

GOOD NIGHT.....
SWEET DREAMS TO ALL🥰

MarsGal

Good morning everyone.

We got ourselves a cold snap with frost warnings last night. The sun is shining now; the temp is 34oF. Up along the St. Clair River, they have been getting snow squalls. I watched several ships going by Marine City and Algonic, then switched to the Duluth Harbor cam and watched the sun rise just as Polsteam's ship Naria arrived.

Unhappy news from George last night, his Lilly has a hyperthyroid just like my Lucy. I guess that means that I will not be skipping any more days checking on his critters. Lilly will need her meds every day. I don't for one second believe George will reduce his time away from home. I thought about offering to take her off his hands so she has someone to keep a closer eye on her, but it is not something I can really afford. All this reminds me that it is just about time to order more meds for Lucy.

One of the regional department stores will be opening up shortly just two counties above me (about an hour and a half drive). I am curious to see how many from this area will make the trek. Vehicles on routes I81 and I83 have picked up significantly the last several days. In fact, the normal I83 entrance I take coming back from George's was blocked and traffic on the highway was at a standstill on Tuesday morning. Not only that, in spite of checking the rear-views to my right, if I hadn't physically turned my head (taking eyes off front for a second or so - not good), I would have run right into a car zipping up on my right. I have no idea where it came from because I did not see it in the mirrors. Good thing I don't trust those things. Lane switchers and speeders pretty much do their thing with impunity around here. Not a whole lot of people know what a turn signal is for either.

Have a good day everyone.

SCFSue

Good morning, all you Bait and Tacklers looking in this morning.  I hope everyone is well and will have a nice day.  It's a beautiful sunshiny day here in Auburn, Alabama.  I'm dressed and ready to get outside for my morning walk.  My son who lives in Opelika has made a mask for me to use while I'm walking outside.  I'm keeping it beside my door so that I will remember to put it on.

I hope Every Buddy who is looking in is feeling well.  Have a nice day, Every  One.

Joy

Just stopping by to say Hello !

Sure is slow here today.  I guess most everyone is in the same boat........nothing happening that different to mention it.   Same old.. same old.

Sue, Last night I wrote Jack a message as I had seen where his area might have been getting snow this morning.  He wrote back this morning and said he is doing ok.  He and Mimi have still been able to go walking in Oglebay park, but not doing much else. His family have been brining him his groceries, but he is still able to take care of himself and do his chores....mowing the grass, cleaning and taking care of the house.  He did say that he is getting to old and not interested in getting back to Seniors and Friends. He did say he looked in a couple times and couldn't figure out the new changes. It was nice to know that he is still doing good.  I did tell him that he is missed along with his pictures.  I told him that there are still a few of us that are hanging in here.

It is sunny here, but still chilly.  Only in the 40's, but didn't hear about any snow anywhere around here. I did see where it was snowing up in Maine and that area.  Strange for May 9 to still be having snow.

Our Governor did allow some places to open up today for fishing, hiking and some recreational things. I am sure lots of people took advantage of getting out to do something different.  I think the playgrounds were going to be open, also, which I am sure pleased the kids.  Our most popular beach in Maryland,  Ocean City, was go open, but only to just walk on the beach.....no sunbathing and no stores would be open and the boardwalk tram would not be running.   It was only supposed to be for the local residents, but I am sure many others went there.  It is surely going to put a damper on people going there for vacations.  Not sure if the hotels will be opening or not.  So many businesses will be suffering.  I had made vacation plans, but cancelled them,  That was back before the virus even appeared.  I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to go because of breaking my hip. But, guess I did the right thing.  Although I don't think I will be getting my deposit back, because they won't be able to re-rent the place now, because of the virus.

I made up some potato salad for our dinner tomorrow.  I have always been told that I make good potato salad, so, I hope I haven't forgotten how.  I tried it a couple times using the red potatoes that you steam in the bag, but, it was always missing something.  So today, I boiled them in a little salted water, and I am hoping that will make it taste better. I think the potatoes just need to be a little salty. I cut up all the celery, onion, and hard boiled eggs yesterday, so just have to mix it all together with the mayonnaise.  Making myself hungry now.

I see it is lunch time, so will see about getting something to eat.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Joy

Good morning everybody.  Came in to wish you all a happy Mothers Day & hope  everyone is safe and happy.  Love you all!

(~_~)

Marilyne

shirleyn -  Happy Mother's Day to you also!  So good to see you again here in B&T!  Please come back often.

Joy -  Sounds like Jack, is still doing very well.  I loved looking at his photos of Mimi, and the two Golden Retrievers he had before.  I wish he would come back to S&F, but I understand.    Your potato salad sounds delicious.  I haven't made one in a long time, but will think about it, now that the weather is turning warmer.

MarsGal -  My cat Winnie, also had the hyperthyroid problem.  It came on when he was about 15 years old.  The vet gave me pills, but it was an exercise in futility, to try to get him to keep one down.  Even when I would sneak one into his food, either whole or crushed, he would find it and leave it.  Also, tried all other tricks and suggestions, but nothing worked.  I wonder if it's inevitable for cats, as they grow old?    He did live to be 19 years old.

Nothing on tap here for Mother's Day.  I know I'll get phone calls from my three kids, and from a couple of the grand kids.  Other than that, we will be alone and won't see anyone.  Our Governor Newsom, is keeping things locked up here in California, until the end of May.  Of course there are always those who defy the new rules, and just won't stay home and won't wear masks when they go out.  :(   We had a big surge of c-virus cases this past week, so no way are they winding down here in our county.

Hope all who read this folder, will have a nice, pleasant Mother's Day, even if you are alone.  Maybe by Father's Day, things will look better? That's a month from now, so there is hope.  If not then, we will look forward to the Fourth of July!

Joy

Good Morning !

Happy Mother's Day all the special ladies.  Hope everyone will have a good day.

Marilyne, I am afraid that the coming days are not going to be anything like we have been used to.  It is going to take a long time to get back to what we used to think of as "Normal".  If it ever does.  I think people are going to become very apprehensive about getting back to doing things like they used to do.  Shopping, going out to restaurants, traveling,  etc.  Our whole world  is just going to be so different.  I saw something the other day about someone who had been experiencing meeting up with basically very "distant" and "mean" people.  I sure hope that won't be the "Norm." I was really hoping that maybe it would bring people more together, especially families. Will just have to wait and see.

My youngest son is coming later today and bringing me dinner. He will stay and eat with me.

Marilyne,  my potato salad turned out good !  Something different for a change.

Enjoy your special day.

We are having a bright and sunny day.  Larry made some Mac & cheese and Gigi will drop by to watch "Little Women" with me——-keeping our distance.  I made some chocolate chip oatmeal cookies that are delicious.  That will be my Mother's Day.  My son and daughter-in-law sent me an Amazon gift card and our oldest daughter called on FaceTime.

Coronavirus has Not been bad in our area, but we are being very careful and only going out rarely for necessary items, wearing our masks and gloves.

Joy, I'll be thinking of you eating those crab cakes today.  I love crab cakes but Larry not at all.  His only seafood is shrimp.  One of my best memories is taking my mother to Balt. inner Harbor when we lived in Maryland.  We had so much fun and had our caricatures done.  My mother was around 82 or 83 and was still pretty active.  On Mother's Day it is a cherished memory.

Marilyne, I'm sorry you aren't able to have a "keep your distance" visit.  Surely, things will ease up before too long?

Jenny, at least you saw your son delivering something for you for Mother's Day.

Well, I hope everyone has a good day.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY.
