Jackie, I didn't forget you.  I hope you have a good day and dwell on some of the good times you've had over the years.

Beverly

I know it's nearly over, but Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers here.

It's been a long day and my eyes are closing, so I'll see you tomorrow.

Same to you Bev.... Good Night!

Talking of Mothers Day, only just realised our (UK) Mothers Day was 22nd March, fell on same date this year as my Birthday and no, i did not get any phone call or card from my 50 year old daughter...just happy to read what your children done for your (US) Mothers Day as a special treat for you all...

SCFSue

Good morning Bait and Tacklers.  I've been up for a while, but am still sitting here in my P.Js!  I'm going to dress shortly and get outside for my usual down the hill and up walk.

Not much else going on here today.  I'll walk down the hill and back up and then find something to read for the rest of the day.  I've been reading Patrick O'Bryans Naval novels over the weekend.  And I'll probably read some more of them today.

Have a nice day, Every Buddy.  I hope Every Buddy has a nice day.

Today is a lovely day—78°.

Had such a nice Mother's Day.  Not much going on in our area.  Very quiet here.

Hope everyone has a good day!

Marilyne

Good morning everyone.  Mother's Day turned out to be better than I was expecting.  Son and dil came over with food for our dinner last night. Salmon in Pesto sauce, with orzo salad, and some fresh roasted veggies.  Granddaughter Jessie, sent a big mound of cookie dough, that I will cut and bake today.  Sandy came later in the afternoon and brought me a 5lb bag of self rising flour!  So at last, I can bake the ice cream bread!  We are still practicing social-distancing here, with masks, so they all only stayed about 20 minutes, and we talked for a while on the outside deck.

Jackie - I'm sorry that your daughter didn't acknowledge Mother's Day. Maybe it isn't as much of a big deal in Britain as it is here in the USA?  We joke here that it's a, "Hallmark Holiday", along with Father's Day, St.Patrick's Day and Valentine's Day.  Sort of blown out of proportion over the years, because all four of those days make lots of money for restaurants, florists, candy shops and of course Hallmark!  :D

Back when I was a school girl in the 1940's & 50's, Mother's Day was for the  older ladies/grandma's mostly.  I remember my grandmother always got a corsage to wear to church on that Sunday morning, and the was it.  My brother and I would make cards for my mother.  Valentine's Day, was only for children back then.  We made a decorated cardboard Valentine Box for the classroom, and made or bought penny cards for everyone.  St. Patricks Day, consisted of nothing but remembering to wear something green to school, because if you didn't, you got pinched! ha ha!

Jean - good to see you this morning, and glad you had a nice day yesterday.  I hope that Jason is continuing to do well, on the new treatment?

Sue - You are faithful about your morning walk every day!  It must be harder walking down that hill, than it is walking up?  I have a hard time keeping my balance, walking down my steep driveway to our mail box.

....yes for me too, and to think, we as young children would have ran down that hill one time, with absolutely no problem whatsoever...how times have changed..now i walk down, slower than a snail..i am sure that snail beat me the other day..

A good Monday HELLO to ALL.

I am not moving all that quickly today.....just savoring my loving thoughts from my family and friends.  I loved reading how everyone enjoyed their Mother's Day.

I can not remember if you post in this folder or not JANE, but I am going to leave this comment in here as it fits with what I would like to sa6 to this group as well.... the gift of doing your yard for you sure makes me smile!  I have hinted on past Mother's Days that I would love a hanging basket of outdoor flowers or the like instead of floral arrangements that are so pretty and loved, but only last a few days.....obviously no one paid attention to me.... so maybe I can try to slip that in again to the conversation and they will pay more attention for next year😘. When I read the instructions of how we might be able to recover our lost messages, I was SO HAPPY, but sadly, it did not work for you😢😢

CALLIE, being with the entire family is WONDERFUL... and yes, a big bonus that you get to eat delicious food prepared by someone else.  I am happy for you🥰

I do not think AMY, posts here either, but again it fits with what I want to say.   I had to chuckle at your comment about TV Dinners.......yes, we are VERY spoiled these days.  I would think they might have improved over the years, but it does sound like it! Hahah.  My hubby was willing to fix me anything, or go pick up anything I wanted for dinner yesterday, but I chose a nice ham sandwich on a loaf of fresh baked bread from Kneaders, a sandwich shop and my home made potato salad for our meal.  The topping on the cake was a big l glass of chocolate milk to go with it.  I was one happy girl!

I must tell the story about the bread....we went to pick up a pizza at a Dominos and ate it in our car as we watched planes coming and going from a local airport..... On the way back home I went through a drive through at Kneader's to see if they had a loaf of their delicious Rye Bread?  The lady was so sweet....she told me they are not making the rye bread right now because they can not get the flour.  After we chatted a bit she asked me to drive through the pick up window anyway as she had some for me.  She gave me a loaf of their white bread....so, so sweet of her.  It looked amazing and I sure did not want it to go to waste, hence the reason I wanted a sandwich made with it.  It was delicious....so soft, but firm and WONDERFUL!  Now I will be buying their white bread on occasion as well.

I sent our Shirley a email a bit ago, as I just heard they have opened up camping in the State of Colorado, and she will be so happy to see this.  She and her boys have reservations here soon and they were worried they might have to canceL them!

JACKIE, I am sad of course that Vivienne did not wish you a HAPPY MOTHER'S Day on the 22nd of April.....so belated HAPPY MOTHER'S
Day to a deserving mama!  I agree wit( your comment about slowly walking and that the snail more than likely beat you.....same thing with me.  I see people running and jumping and I think how wonderful that use to be....now I just consentrate on straying upright😩

MARILYNE, sounds like your family took very good care of you and AJ yesterday.....I really liked the thought of the already made dough to make your own; cookies.  How sweet🥰

OK, I have to go get busy and cut up some chicken to get ready for the freezer and for dinner tonight.

Have a great day❣️

I enjoyed reading about everyone's Mother's Day. All of our children live in New England so I didn't see anyone but had long telephone conversations with all four. Plus one of my granddaughters called last night. She and her husband moved from the Boston area to rural New Hampshire and now they have a mini-farm! Four goats, 8 chickens (mostly laying hens), four pigs and two turkeys.  (Unfortunately the pigs will be bacon, pork chops etc. next winter.  :(  ) They are also incubating 40 eggs and expect the hatching to be any day. All this plus two children and two dogs.  :)

Jean - I'm loving this weather. I know hot and muggy is ahead but I'm enjoying this while we can.

Marilyne - Sounds like a wonderful day!  We also did the Valentines in a decorated cardboard box and gave all our classmates penny cards. My Dad loved Irish music and the local radio station used to play lots of it every St. Patrick's Day.

Jenny - I'm with you. I love cut flowers but the plants last so much longer. The Christmas cactus I received last Christmas is doing well and I hope to see it bloom again next Christmas.

My son sent a text earlier with a picture of his back deck. It's snowing again! They had 5 inches a few days ago. My daughter also called and said it was snowing there. Enough already!

Sandy - You may not get any snow but I'll bet it's chilly tonight. It was 35 in Vermont earlier.

Jackie - A lot of us are walking at a snail's pace.  :)

Sue - Good for you getting out for a walk every day.

Yesterday when I was walking back up hill to my home, I tripped and fell--and blood was dripping every where.  I managed to get home without getting blood on my clothing, but it was touch and go for a while.  I still look like I've been in a car wreck!  I am planning another walk this morning, but I'm not going as far and will be extra careful.

I hope Every Buddy looking in is OK and having a nice day.  Be careful, every Buddy.

We are having another beautiful day here in northwest Florida.

Marilyne, I'm glad to hear that Mother's Day was so nice.  Our daughter and son-in-law were here in the afternoon.  I rented "Little Women" and we watched that while eating some comfort food (Mac & Cheese) that Larry had cooked.

Beverly, I am also enjoying our weather before the hot muggy days of summer.

Sue, sorry to hear about your fall and hope everything is healing and you are feeling OK.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Sue..
...how are you today, i am sure all the bruising will be showing itself after your yesterday fall...This is something I now fear the most, as if i was to fall outside i will never be able to get myself back up ( we cant be pulled up, ) unless i turn over onto my knees and literally hold onto something secure and pull myself up, otherwise i would have to crawl on my knees back home, or to scoot on my backside...this is how Multiple Sclerosis affects us, we cant get up from being pulled up by the front...Be very careful taking another walk so soon...

Marilyne

SUE - Maybe it would be a good idea for you to stop taking your daily walk for a while?   Instead, perhaps you can walk around your yard a number of times during the day.  You'll get some fresh air and some exercise.  Be sure to have your cell phone with you, every time you leave the house. Then you can call for help if need be.

Jackie - Like you, if I should fall, I would have to crawl to the nearest sturdy object I could push up on, or pull myself up on.  I also carry a cell phone.  I know that both you and Sue, live alone, so there is no one at home who would be waiting for you and noticing if you didn't return home.  I'm fortunate that my husband is here, and would come looking if I went missing.

Jean - I haven't seen "Little Women", yet, but I hear it's very good.  Both daughters have seen it, and enjoyed it.  I think I told you that AJ's cooking specialty is also Mac and Cheese, just like Larry!  :)  He is not much of a cook otherwise.  Today's young husbands seem quite interested in cooking, compared to when we were married.

Beverly - your Mother's Day, sounds like it was a good one too.  I love the sound of your granddaughter's mini-farm in New Hampshire.  Farm animals are something I have never been around, or know much about.  I always lived in the suburbs of big cities, so never really had a chance to learn about country living.    My oldest grandson and his wife live on a ranch, where they breed and raise horses - mostly show horses.

Good morning 🌞🌞
It is a beautiful sun shinny day....

SUE, I am sorry to read about your fall.  I bet you are good and sore today along with the brusing.  I am so worried about a fall anymore that I just do not feel safe walking alone or with out support.

JEAN, I just saw this on Face Book and thought everyone would enjoy seeing this.  WATCH: Graceful Giant Oceanic Manta Ray 💚👀 spotted off Pensacola Beach yesterday!! ~ https://30a.com/stingrays-in-the-gulf-of-mexico
You ever did mention the fires....were they not that close to you?

MARILYNE, how DELICIOUS were those cookies?  I got a air fryer for Mother's Day and I cooked fried chicken in it last night.  It was very easy to do and we really enjoyed it.  The clean up was very easy.  I am quite pleased with it.  I look forward to more adventures with it.  Normally people start out with French fries, but I jumped right in and gave it a good whirl

BEVERLY, I loved reading about your granddaughter's mini farm.  Sounds like a lot to take care of but something very rewarding❣️

JACKIE, that is what we have left....M E M O R I E S.....of being able to do so many things that we can no longer do😢

A food truck is coming to our community tonight.  It is a pierogies  truck.  We have not decided for sure, but I think we are going to place our order and have some.  The fancy plate is $16. 6 pork perogies, cabbage roll, kraut and a kielbasa .....Bob is getting this
and I am going to get cheese and onion pierogies and a kielbasa, for $10. There is going to also be a Kona Ice Truck.  That is nothing I care about and I wonder how many of the old folks in here will be? Next week the food truck will be BBQ.  I bet that will be a huge success as everyone seem to love BBQ.

Have a good day....I am off to get me some sun😘

...I had to look " perogies " " pierogi " up as another cookery word i have never heard of and found they are a " dumpling " with fillings...I so remember my late father and mother cooking plain dumplings in a big saucepan of home-made stew, another ingredient they added was " pearl barley, " oh childhood memories of what once was....

****************************
My mentioning of " scooting my backside " is bringing back infant school memories of us children being made to sit crossed legged on the parquet halls floor when some of us scooted our backsides along the wooden splintering floor, oh the times i got a large splinter in it, and had to sit at my school desk in agony for the whole days school lessons until i got home and had it removed by my father with tweezers...

FlaJean

Jenny, I didn't hear anything about fires so I'm sure they weren't in our area.  I did look on the internet and see there was a swamp fire about 50 miles from us.  And there were some fires in southwest Florida quite a distance from us.  But there were no news reports here.

Jenny -  thanks for posting the Manta-Ray site/pictures.  Beautiful fish, but can be miserable if you get stung by a Sting-Ray.   When our two oldest kids were young (before Sandy was born) we went on a camping trip to Estero Beach, which is south of Ensenada, in Baja California.  Absolutely beautiful pristine beaches, palm trees, etc. The kids went swimming right away in the ocean, and Shelley was immediately stung on the thigh by a Sting-Ray.  She was screaming and couldn't walk, and we were so scared because we didn't know what had happened.  Fortunately other campers came to the rescue, and told us what had bitten her, and what we had to do. Soaking in vinegar, removing the stinger, and then soaking in hot water.   Needless to say, we had to pack up and drive to a hotel in Ensenada, where we stayed until she was better.  Then the long drive back to California.  Incidentally, we were in a Volkswagen camper. The world's slowest vehicle!!  ::)

I hope we hear from some more of our regulars today?  Everyone here is still sheltering in place, but I know that some of you, in other states, have had the quarantine lifted?   I'm not in a big hurry, as we still have lots of new cases here.

FlaJean

Not much going on in our area.  Still staying at home and social distancing although our parks and beaches are now open.

Larry had his yearly trip to the dermatologist.  He had several more places on his neck frozen.  He said everyone was wearing a mask and keeping their distance.

I made some macaroni salad for dinner, baked a loaf of white sandwich bread and that has pretty much been my day.  Just spending my time reading.

We have been having such beautiful weather.

Marilyne, our covid-19 count is up to 170 in our county.  It seems to go up by one more every day or so.  We'll see what happens now that things are beginning to open up.

Have a good day everyone.

Our beauty salons here opened on Friday with very rigorous rules.  However, when I called for appointment, my lady said "Wednesday, May 13th 10:15 AM"  I did a happy dance.  So today, I actually have a lovely haircut, I have a neck again, as the hair had grown down to just above my shoulders.  Not true with my bangs, as I gave up when they got down to the bridge of my nose, and I took the scissors to them!  I told her I felt 10 pounds lighter after this professional haircut!
The Rules: You have to call for an appointment; when you arrive, you call the operator on her cell phone, and she comes to let you in the door; both customer and hairdresser are masked, disinfecting happens between each client; stations are set up more than the 6 foot distancing; I think there were no more than 5 clients in the shop while I was there, and I could only see one from my area. All in all, a very excellent experience and did not give me any qualms about having made the appointment this soon after shops opening!  Whee, I won't have to get a dog license after all!

Beverly

For the first time in many weeks, I set foot in a store!  :) There was almost no-one in there and they have guidelines for the aisles and cash registers. Chape has been picking up things when needed but this time I wanted to go with him. I needed to buy some sympathy cards. A neighbor on our street died suddenly of a heart attack and a good friend in Oklahoma also died. He was only 64 and also had a heart attack. The cards were so picked over it was hard to find a good one with an envelope. Apparently they are also not refilling the greeting card aisle. Chape checked for toilet paper and Kleenex......None! After I picked out the cards I went out to the car and he checked out at the register.

It was another beautiful day.

Jean- I love macaroni salad (with tuna) and have been wanting to make some. I have some canned baked beans and hot dogs in the freezer. Sounds like an indoor picnic supper in the making!

Tomereader - Lucky you to get a salon haircut...I haven't checked to see if mine has opened. It's going to be hard to keep a mask on because I really need a perm.

Jenny - Wish we had a Pierogi truck coming to our neighborhood. When we lived in New Jersey you could buy them in the meat department at the grocery store. I like the potato and onion ones.

Marilyne - My granddaughter's chicks began hatching yesterday and at last count she was up to 16. We lived on a farm when I was born and I've been around farms a lot over the years. Chape was raised on a farm and still lived there when we got married.

Jackie - Could you wear one of those life alert buttons around your neck? Also, if you fell could the neighbors see you and summon for help?

Callie - Hope everything in OK is Okay.

MarsGal - I'd never heard of that disease in cats before. It will be hard taking care of a sick cat long distance. Those kitties are lucky to have you.

Sue - I'm so sorry about your fall. How are you doing today?

Joy - I don't think we are going to see "normal" as we knew it for a long time. We can hope that the "new normal" will be better.

Good evening.  I attempted to post a couple of times today, but got interrupted😩

We enjoyed the dinners last night.  Bob really liked the cabbage roll and of course I did not order the meal that included one😢  I had a bite of his and I have to say it was very good.  He also shared one of his pork pierogies and it was good.  I think it was a big hit with the community so I expect these food trucks will continue.  We already know next week is a BBQ Truck.

JACKIE, just the thought of having to sit on a splinter like you mentioned made me shudder🥵

BEVERLY, how exciting for you to get out  to a store today for the first time.  Love hearing about the chicks hatching....what fun.

MARILYNE, I enjoyed your story about Shelley being stung by the Manta-Ray.  What memories I bet you have from trips in your VW Camper🥰. My Bob grew up on the gulf coast in Panama City Beach, so he has plenty of stories to tell about sharks, different kind of rays, jellyfish and the like.  Our sons spent summers there at our beach cottage for many years, so learned a lot of first had experiences as well.  Early on years I was not a bit afraid to go out in the gulf, but as the years passed and I saw first hand some of the things that I happened, I decided I no longer cared to do any swimming in an ocean.  Our son was the trauma surgeon on call that sewed a gal back up after a shark attack off the coast of Santa Rosa, CA.  That story made national news and is still shown occasionally on Shark Week (?) episodes.  Those things scare me to death now.  I am glad you enjoyed seeing the link.

Michele had chemo today.  Each one becomes increasingly harder for her to do.  She puts up a strong attitude, and she is dedicated to beating this darn cancer, but it does get her down and she dreads the remaining ones 😢. Who wouldn't?  This was her 31st one😢😢 The initial report on the MRI was quite positive however it will now be reviewed in a conference of her oncologist on this coming Friday.

Have a good evening.

...oh how i wish i had that " magic wand " to make your Michele's cancer and next chemo session ( numbers 32 - 33 ) just go away into oblivion never to be seen nor experienced again...

SCFSue

Good morning, every Bait and Tackler looking in this morning.  I am moving pretty slowly this morning and need to get outside for my morning walk down hill and back up.  It's a bright sunshiny day here in Auburn, Alabama and the weather forecast is for a lovely day.

I hope every one looking in has a good day planned.  Take care everyone and keep us posted on how you are feeling.

Sue

Marilyne

Beverly - I haven't set foot inside a store for about two months, so you're a little ahead of me.  Instead, we've been ordering online, and then picking up our order in front of the store. I am getting extremely tired of it, and anxious to get inside and pick out my own groceries, chicken and other meat.

Tome - Our county is still locked down, with grocery and drug stores being the only businesses open.  Still no beauty shops, barbers, restaurants, gyms, libraries, DMV or other businesses.  I think golf courses and hiking or walking trails are now open, but must wear a mask.  Of course schools will remain closed until Fall.  I feel so sorry for the Senior graduating classes of 2020.  So sad they they won't have a graduation ceremony, or any of the other events students look forward to as seniors, like the Prom or Grad night.  :(

Jenny - I'll be thinking about Michele, knowing that she will have her oncology conference on Friday.  Wishing her the very best possible outcome from her latest round of chemo treatments.
Your mention of your son being the trauma surgeon, for a girl attacked by a shark here in California, reminds me of a sad happening here last week.  A young man in his late 20's, was attacked and killed by a shark, right here at our nearest beach - Santa Cruz.  He had a successful surfboard business in town, and was married with a new baby.  He was surfing at the time, wearing a wet suit - but wet suits are no match for a shark. We've had so many shark attacks here on the beaches in Northern California, in the past couple of years.  Unheard of in the years that we spent every weekend at the beach, swimming and enjoying the waves.

Jean -  According to this morning's paper, our county has had 2,341 cases of coronavirus!  :o   Even though it's a small county as to size, there are close to two million people living here!  Reason being, that it's the home of the large Tech companies like Google, Facebook, Apple, and hundreds of others, so attracts people from around the US and the world.  The high count of CV cases, is why we are still sheltering in place here.

Sue - Hope you're feeling better after your fall?  Instead of walking up and down that hill, every day,  maybe you can go in another direction, where the sidewalk is level, so you will have more stability?  Also, consider carrying a cane, to steady yourself if need be.

JeanneP

We are having so many Obits in our paper daily now. Not that big a town be will be up to 20. I was reading that now they are coming from First Heart attaches, Strokes and then Appendicitis. Gall bladders. Not many from auto accidents or fractures . We have had more shootings. Ages on the deaths seem to be either young or up to about 69.

NOw on the health Buttons. You don't need to always have a persons name for them to call as they will be coming out to you from the first call you make. Ours here is 911. My nearest person for me is 45 miles away and the rest over 1200. I had 8 close friends around me for 50 years. All now have passed. Most before the age of 60. I may get another one this winter.

... thank you, i shall bear that in mind, ( alert buttons ) i could always nominate my GP surgery although our more local surgery is now closed due to flooding in the past and they have amalgamated with our further in distance other twin surgery...

Marilyne...
... i too remember those days of actually stepping foot inside a large supermarket to do a shop and feeling fruit, looking at packet sell-by dates and only picking up meats that look the most leanest..now of course living way down in the valleys and no car, i have to rely on home deliveries and leave the produce delivered to me in their hands....then only after the delivery driver has gone i can check the dates for usage...I am not in so much control as i used to be, nor as would still like to be...

FlaJean

Enjoying this nice weather because we know before too long we will see the hot muggy weather of summer.

Trying to get a few household chores done this morning.  Our flowers are looking so pretty.  This is the first time I've had agapanthus.  I bought two white ones before the lock down 😊 and Larry planted them in pots.  They have done well and have several blooms on both plants.  The white looks good among the rose colored vincas.  The vincas are coming up from seeds Saved from last year.  Larry just threw them out and about in the garden and they are coming up and looking so pretty.

I used to do a lot of yard work but neither one of us is able to do much anymore.  Son-in-law Jeff takes care of our yard, but Larry manages the small flower garden.

Well, the washing machine has stopped so will go and put the clothes in the dryer.

Sue, hope your leg is better.  Have a good day everyone.
