well ofichley I am not sure but that had a sign out front said carryout, but inside they had tables so not setting close one family to another, and people spoke or nodded,no high hatted. and no one had mask's on.so time will tell. everyone will die snore or later as God wants. I am going back to bed, i was very restless so Nancy got up not sure how long ago, and she is sound asleep in her recliner with a cover over her self. that is a good option. everyone can rest good. see you all later on today. It is 56º and mostly cloudy and calling for high of 61º and cloudy today. Have a good day just as you like it.

JEANNEP, that's beautiful and I'm surprised that I've never seen one.  In fact, I never even heard of them.  And with all the knitting that went on in my family and that of friends, I should have at least seen one.

Bubble, on a hot day that is the perfect place to be!! Shade, cool water and a picnic basket what more can you ask for?

Jeanne, my aunt had one of those on her bed!! That is a lot of work  but well worth it!!

Thank you both for sharing.

I don't remember seeing one of those dolls, but it is pretty.  It does look like a lot of work.  I used to crochet while watching TV in the evenings.  But then I got a computer!

Are you all being careful and wearing a mask when going out of the house?

The T-shirt is the school uniform.

Today the Health minister announced on the radio that in classroom as well as outside people can forgo the wearing of masks because of the extreme heat wave. Right now it is 43C or 110F with 20% humidity!
I am melting...

Oh Bubble, I'm so sorry to hear about the extreme heat you're having! It must be a hard choice, protect against the weather or Covid-19!

Here in the past seven days, we've had temperatures in the eighties and in plus thirty-two with both fires and floods. Mother Nature is pulling out all the stops!

Aviv has wonderful curls! And someone has a wonderful collection!

I have had seen lots and lots of dolls, but haven't ever seen any that look like that.  Lots of bed dolls, but mostly made a lot different.  How is the part that is sitting up in the back  made.  I can't tell if it is fabric, knitted or crocheted.  Almost looks like it is something woven??  Very different type of doll and it is probably a real big collector's item.  Even the front part (the white part) is not something I have ever seen before.

Jeanne, did you make it? or was it an heirloom from a family member?   Have you ever had it appraised?  I would be interested in how much it would be worth, as it sure is very unusual.

Now a friend made me the bed doll about 45 years ago and died very young. I love it. It is crochet. I can do crochet but nothing like that dress. It is just a gown that the back lifts up when on the bed.i will send my twin dolls to bubble and see if she will post she copied mu God and hrs about 49 years ago also . Different friend. She also passed young so I treasured them all. Time to start passing some of my things to others. I have many collections over 125 years all from my mom. Aunt .gmothers collections in U.k I brought thing back over the years. Thing is only 2 grandsons like older things .daughters nothing over 10 years will the keep in their ultra modern homes.  Not into family history at all.

FlaJean Havent we all. when I was driving a over the road truck. first I knitted, but the bouncing around in the sleeper , the little tips would jar off the needles and come out (one)  of them and lot of time picking up stitches. One time i spent a lot of time doing that.was making a red sweater.got it nearly finished and looking it over and right in the middle of the back was hole. a knet instead of a puerl will do that or vice versia.  well i finished it with the hole in it. that was when i started crosshatching. and like you i do neither now, i spend my time confusing spell check on here. or in the wood shop making recipe boxes.  I can mess up a word so bad spell ck can not fix it, If Nancy is handy she can tell me how to fix it or at least spell check can. Have a great day.

JeanneP, your Mom's picture fascinates me for some reason. The age itself adds something of a romantic appeal, but what I first noticed is how the hair is combed over her head and her facial expression. Her eyes were similar to mine, almond shaped I think they call it. Of course, now-a-days, the skin folds over my eyes have sagged enough that I feel like I am seeing through the filter of my eyelashes. Also, I happen to be fond of sepia toned photos. Your don't see them often any more. It is a lovely picture.

Thanks for posting it for JeanneP, Bubble.

Made a video of the garden by my garage wall.  Larry had thrown some Vinca seeds out and they are coming up different places in the garden.

JeanneP  -  The photo of your Mother is beautiful - very exotic looking.  I see the resemblance between the two of you, from the picture of you that Bubble posted a couple of weeks ago.   I like your bed doll!   I was in the antique business for many years, and we often had collectors come into the shop asking if we had any bed dolls.  We rarely had them, but when we did, they sold quickly.

Jean  -  Your garden is lovely, and looks like Larry threw the Vinca seeds in all the right places!   Also, your mouse is adorable!   I'd like to see pictures of your entire collection.

FlaJean

Thank you Marilyne.  We are happy to have a tiny yard now.  We had a half acre in Ocala and had lots of flowers and shrubs, but it was getting to be too much for us.  Age does take its toll.

Shirley

I didn't take notes, wish I had because so many new photos since here last... Jeanne, I've seen a bed doll somewhere but can't remember where. My mother had the TP doll that she kept in her bathroom that all the little gr-daughters wanted, no idea where or who got it. I had a good friend that made the cutest broom covers, still have one somewhere. You are right, Jeanne, hard to find GOOD homes for all of our treasures. My grands are "throw away" people, I may as well put things out for a garage sale myself, that's what they would do.

I did make a point of telling a son's wife that "they are only the care taker for some of this stuff, their grands may be thrilled to have something for Show & Tell that is over 100 years old!" I did donate some of the McGuffey Readers from my grandmother (she was born in 1871) to the historical society in that county. The lady that accepted them was thrilled. I felt like if any of my cousins children wanted to see them they could visit the museum... at the time when cleaning out Grandma's house, nobody but my parents wanted to save them.

Jean, love your mouse, one of the broom covers is a mouse & other a cow. The lady used to do a lot of arts & crafts shows. Your flowers are beautiful. We had vinca vine under the deck when we lived in the KC area.... only white & lavender, but made a great ground cover since windows in that lower level looked out over the vine to the rest of the yard. We had just over an acre in the heart of KC, little town called Leawood. Cas was happy to find this place, same amount of landscape but the park department takes care of the hill down to the river. Most of the other people don't spend time down like I do... and they come to MY landing when they want to see the river! I discovered some honeysuckle vine growing down tonight. There is another vine that looks like grape leaf & has berries (that the birds don't let ripen), all kinds of stuff growing. I am sad that the wisteria blooms are not big & pretty like all other yesrs. They are turning brown and are not half the size of other years. Many different kind of trees, no clue how they got started, but not a single tree along this side of the river when we bought 31 years ago... 32 now, now I have a forest.

Cats are fed and I am hungry so better see what is in the 'frig. Thanks to all for sharing photos!  Jean, can't remember my Vimeo password or would have left you a message, good job!:-[

I put together a few clips that Larry and I photographed of swans swimming in the lake.  Swans mate for life.  Such beautiful creatures.

FlaJean...
..swans are lovely to look at and see in and out of the water but have you ever been chased by one with its wings flapping, hissing and pecking, and doubling in size, i have and they are quite frightening...I am in particular thinking back to a dog walk around the Rickmansworth Aquadrome lakes several years ago where there were a lot of people and swans, ducks and my favourites, the herons, but once you get chased by a swan not something you forget easily as they run and move faster than us humans do, i even had my dog off the lead along the canal and the barges whilst calling her to run with me...
This was a favourite place for me 20 plus years ago, especially in the summer on a Sunday lunchtime as there was always a brass band on the grass practising, so we sat on the grass usually with an ice cream cornet or choc ice from the van, listening to the band playing for an hour before driving home in my car....

JeanneP

I got up yesterday after a heavy storm all night. I have a sort of brook that forms at the end of my lot. Gets to be about 2 ft deep after rain. Looked and 2 Canada Geese swimming in it. Cheered me up.
Sad thing though is that we have way to many of them in town,All the malls and places put man made lakes on the land. Gotten to be a mess. Specially at the big Park and Lagoon down the street from me. The State had decided to capture about 75 pct. of them and destroy because of the mess they make. People are mad about that and yet it is bad for the homes built in the area as can hardly walk around. They have counted about 500 of them on that one lake area.
JeanneP

FlaJean

Jackie, I don't think I would forget that either.  The swans are so pretty, but they can be quite dangerous, especially if they have young ones.

JeanneP, I've heard that the Canadian geese are very messy, but we aren't close enough to the water to be bothered by water fowl.   We do have several bayous and a large bay just a couple of miles from us.

Thanks, Sato.  Always enjoy your videos also!

How I love swans. One of our cemeteries has a beautiful lake and they have had swans on there at least 65 years as I use to take my girls every Sunday morning to see them. But now swans do not fly away like the geese and so not messy. Have their young there. Fact a mess one time as someone went in and stole the Eggs before hatching. Not kids. Was some person who had a beautiful home with his own lake on it. What a world Eh!

Whilst one time walking around the Rickmansworth Aquadrome lake i came across the lady from the swan sanctuary releasing a swan she had been caring for, she was releasing it in the far end, a more peaceful and seclusive spot....
...If one walked along one of the two or three further lakes on their nature reserve walks, they would come to the heron birds viewing wooden huts, just had to remember to bring along a pair of binoculars..for me, the sight of a heron flying is - was a spectacular sight to see, just think of Concorde, how gracious she looked...Link...
