We had "Homemaking" classes, you took one semester of Cooking and one semester of Sewing (which I hated).  I did love the cooking class.  I think they still have some here, at various schools.

Marilyne

JEAN -  I'm so sorry to read the bad news about Jason.  I will pray for him, and for his young family,  as well as for your son, his wife, and you and Larry.  This will be a difficult Father's Day, for everyone.

CallieOK

We also had "Home Economics" classes in high school (1949-1953).  I have a snapshot of the boys' cooking class; they all have on aprons and chef's hats.
I remember making a pair of pajamas in sewing but didn't like it then - and don't like it now.
I did like cooking and still do - but yeast bread making wasn't included in h.s. classes and I've never made it.  I do make what my kids called "cake bread".  Gingerbread with real sorghum molasses (not the bottled kind in the grocery store) and Orange Marmalade bread are favorites.

Jean, I, too, am sorry to read about Jason. Prayers and love to all of you.

Don't know what time it started raining but a big thunderclap woke me at 6:15 and it was pouring.  Scooted out to get the paper. which wasn't yet a soggy mess, put the pages on a rack to dry, took the first med...and went back to bed. Slept another two hours so am really slow to get going.

(Not sure why I think it needs to be any faster. :D)

Our domestc science was cooking something one week, the next week was household such as one time we were asked to bring a dirty pillowcase in to hand-bowl wash and starch it, of course i was the only one who really did take a dirty pillowcase in....This was all in aid of preparing us to be a housewife..

We were always told what amount of ingredients to bring in when it was cooking week, and if anyone never had a certain ingredient one of us was sent across the road to a small tuck shop with a list so as to divide to us who never had the ounce of this or the portion of butter or margarine, or desert spoonful of sugar, or maybe missing an egg, and so forth..there was often one item someone never had, or maybe we just was trying to get out of our cookery lesson, it never worked of course....

Joy

Just stopping by and wanted to let Jean know that I am continuing to pray for her grandson.  Miracles do happen and I will be praying for one for him.  My thoughts are with you and Larry and your whole family. Such a difficult time for his young family.  Is his brother able to visit him?  Hard on you to be so far away.

A very slow day here. I have not heard from anyone today.  Watched OVC for a while, and took a nap.  Almost time to start thinking about supper.  A friend brought me some beets, and I did make up some Harvard Beets.  That is the first time that I have fixed fresh beets.  They will be a special change for dinner.  Probably will have a salad and a sandwich.

Tomorrow my sister-in-law will be visiting for a little bit. She is staying with her son for a couple days, and he lives a couple miles from me, so he is bringing her to visit.  Have not seen her for a long time.  They said they will stay outside, and since it is supposed to be hot, I am hoping that my DIL, who will be here, will go up the street and bring us all a snowball.   That will be a nice treat

Have a nice rest of the day.

H A P P Y  F A T H E R' S  D A Y to all the dads on here or the hubbies of all.  I hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful day.

We have been on the phone or FaceTiming off and all all morning.  I tried to do this earlier and then would get interrupted.

We are going to Dave's Home for dinner.  I planned on fixing something but he insisted we order out , so we will pick up Mexican Food from our favorite place on our way to their home.  This is the first time we have eaten together since the beginning of Covid.

Tried to share some of my post and lost them both......now I have to go and get ready to leave.....more later.

JEAN, I am very sorry to read your news regarding Jason.  I want to stay positive and say that I pray for him off and on all day long, just as I do for Michele, and I have to say that I believe in miracles and as one said.....I think it was Norm, "I not only believe in them, I EXPECT them" and for our two loved ones I certainly pray for them.  Hugs to you as I know how hard this is for you.

I must run....more later.

Just been brought back home ( first time away from this park-home site in 3 months ) by a female ( in her early 60's ) newfound friendship through a church, via a phone call of which i was given the number to ring by our local counsellor..This lady has now been to my home i guess 3 times and collected me and took me in her car to her home which you would not believe the stunning views across the very calm sea in the distance, her home is going up to the cliffs touristy car-parking area, through the private gates, along the narrow country style rugged lanes and its trees, one would think they are living in the countryside, then another large wooden gate entry to her wooden shacked home with its outside and its hammock overlooking the sea..very isolated but so picturesque, relaxing and calming, the weather is dry, warm and the sea so very calm with just the 3 very large cruise liners in the centres all empty of passengers and not moving nor going anywhere..
She brings along her friendly large dog who she let out the car, her dog knows where he is and follows to their home, he laid with me on the long hammock..Oh and we also stopped off at the remotest small wooden church overlooking the sea just a short distance from her home..
She could not have looked after me any better, nothing was too much trouble, she took care of me every step of the way, and with my rollator as the ground was rugged in places as i took each step at a snails pace, so as not to tip myself over....
Before we left and whilst i was still sitting on her hammock she said a prayer for me..

MarsGal

Oh, Jean...such unhappy, painful news.

Jackie, I am glad to hear that you have finally connected with someone who will visit and help you get places.

It has been a bit stressful here. First that darn smoke detector in my bedroom kept going off for no apparent reason. This is #4 in that position. Since this latest one, installed not even two weeks ago, is a stand alone rather than hardwired, the tech took it down and I placed it on a shelf in the front room. We want to see if it goes off in another spot. In the meantime, I will not have another smoke detector in my bedroom. Fear not, however, the one in the hallway is just outside my bedroom door.

The other thing is a nasty dizzy spell I got early Saturday morning when I got up to go to the bathroom. Again, but a lot lighter Sunday morning, and not very evident this morning. Seems to be when I get up after laying down. My ears were real stuffy Saturday night, my ears have been a itchy and stuffy again. Going to be calling the doctor in a little bit. The dizziness is new to me if it is an ear problem.

It's always something, isn't it?

Marilyne

MarsGal - Sounds like you might be having some vertigo, when you first get up in the morning?   Lots of our members here have complained of the same problem over the past couple of years.  Seems to be one of those health issues that plague us as we grow older. Good idea to have your doctor check your ears.

Jackie - what a lovely time you had today, visiting at the home of your new friend.   She sounds like a kind lady, and so nice of her to pick you up and   take such good care of you.  I can just visualize the view of the sea in the distance!  Always a calming and relaxing sight for me.  It's been a while since I've had the pleasure, but maybe soon I hope.

Jenny - So glad you had a nice dinner with Dave and Michele and the kids!   What a treat to see everyone, after such a long time apart.  I know FaceTime and Zoom are great, but nothing like the real thing.  I hope that Michele is continuing to feel well, and getting stronger every day?   Our son and dil came over yesterday, and Sandy came too.  They all brought food, and it was so much fun after a long time apart.

Joy - I know you enjoyed your visit with your sister-in-law, yesterday, and hope you all enjoyed a Snow Ball!   I haven't seen by brother's wife in such a long time, and would love to visit with her.  Also my nieces and nephews live so far away, that I never have a chance to see them.  I do get photos, and follow them all on Facebook.

Jean - Such a sad time for everyone.  I'm glad that your son and dil are there to be with Jason.  I'm thinking about you and Larry today, and praying for Jason and for your whole family.

FlaJean

Thank you for prayers and thoughts.  So many interesting posts today.  I'm a very practical person and expect the time for miracles is past.  At this time I am praying they will receive good counseling and help.  Those two precious children are so close to their father.

Marilyne, I'm sure you and AJ enjoyed Father's Day with your visit with the children.  Thanks for your prayers.  Has your daughter gotten any results from her pet Scan.  You'll have to tell us about that tomato pie.  I've never had one.  I like to try things that are different as long as they aren't too spicy.

Everyone has their problems and sorrows, especially during this awful pandemic.

Jackie, what a pleasant visit you had with your friend.  I could just picture the outdoor beauty from your description.

Joy, did you get your snowball?  I'm sure you will have a nice visit with or without one.😊

Jenny, thanks for thinking of us.  I continue to pray for Michele and her full recovery.

Marsgal, thanks also for your good thoughts.  I've seen several large tankers recently on the Algonac site lately.  I never thought of looking at those websites until Mary Ann.  I was thinking of her niece, Annie/Cate this weekend and wondering if she was in Tulsa with all the excitement going on there.  I know she moved to Tulsa for her work.

Sue, I hope you had a good safe walk today.

Have a good day everyone.

Denver

b]Just getting in to see how you all are doing.

We had a wonderful time with Dave and Family yesterday.  Even got to hug my son and grands.....but still social distanced with Michele, just to be extra safe.  It was delightful to be together.  They have recently ordered a new 6 passenger golf cart, and are renting one while they wait for theirs.  Matt, our grandson took us for a drive in it and what fun we had.  He is a very good driver and we thought he did a very good job.  We came home SO happy, but walked in the door to the telephone ringing.  It was news that my only brothers wife had just passed away.

Corrine has not been in good health for a good long time but we did not expect her death this soon.  Some of you might remember my niece, their only child together, passing away at the age of 30 to diabetes?  We are all holding on to a good thought that the two of them are together once again.

Our Boston Family I'd driving from Wisconsin to their condo in Vail CO today, so my mind has been on them getting here safely.

More telephone calls, so again, I am going to post this before I loose it.

Have a good evening.

MarsGal - FlaJean - Marilyne..
..i am truly blessed to be at present living in a beutiful spot such as this part of Dorset, ( not of course that i can get out much to see it, nor walk far in it, ) the countryside-woodland pathways feel, versus the wide open sea views are really stunning..one gets the best of both worlds - coastal and countryside, and no motorways in sight in our county which could be a minus or a plus for many...

Jenny..
..quoting my late father.." it never rains but it pours.." seems as soon as one bad - sad thing happens..re your sister-in-law..

Joy..
..enjoy your short visit with your sister-in-law..it will be a precious short time but precious is what we are all now so craving..

FlaJean..
..re time miracles have past...always keep focused what my late father was often saying..." expect the unexpected.." " and never say never.."

MarsGal..
.. the unexpected sound of our fire alarm -smoke detector when it suddenly decides to go off absolutely terrifies me, plus the fact that I cant get up on a chair to turn it off, just hope it stops in its own accord, so far so good after i quickly open and close the door on and off to get the air-draft to quieten it..
..yes anything medical that starts fresh is always a concern, and easily we can and do ignore it until we say enough is enough...

Marilyne..
.. sadly we can be left with so many regrets of not seeing a relative for some time and never getting round to doing so...

I recently took it upon myself to phone out of the blue my half-sister, i shan't go into the story i posted on here a few years ago of tracing my family but she- my half-sister lost her hubby after i lost my Richard and sadly she too has MS, before my MS diagnoses...We had briefly met the once just before i was diagnosed but she was aware i was having walking issues at the time...Anyway, we now at least can have a telephone conversation so we have now become closer although we shall never have the chance to meet again..the day we met she gave me a wooden plaque which i reminded her of, i will forever cherish, ( that reminds me to now get it out on show instead of hidden away ) the plaque reads " to a newfound friendship with my sister Jackie from Carol 9th September 2013.."
..I know that date is significant just cant remember for what reason, i am sure it is the date of our joint birth mothers death a 9th September..

Marilyne

Is it just me, or are the weeks flying by at warp speed for everyone else as well?
Another weekend will be here in just a few days, and then I think the Fourth of July Holiday will be next?   People are complaining on Next Door, about fireworks starting already.  I haven't heard any around here yet, but I'm sure I will soon enough!

This will be another day like most of the others, in the past three months.  I'll be ordering from Safeway, and we'll pick it up later this afternoon.  Still not getting about half of the items on my list, but overall I can't complain.  Other than that, mostly reading, watching TV, and keeping up with our drastically changing world.

I hope we hear from all of our usual B&T posters, today?   Looking forward to seeing messages from everyone.

FlaJean

We had a rainy day yesterday, but the grass is nice and green and the flowers are full of blooms.

Today the sun is shining and it is 84° but feels warmer due to the humidity (or so my weather app shows).

When I got my glasses after my cataract operation two years ago, I got some kind of reflective coating on them.  It is wearing off and I had to order new lenses for my frames.  Luckily I'm using the same frames as the Vision Center isn't doing a regular business during the pandemic.  Things haven't opened here in spite of what has been reported.  They are still considering whether or not to open schools in late August.

COVID-19 is worse in the southern part of the state, but we are still seeing an uptick in the numbers.

Marilyne, the time does seem to fly although I don't seem to accomplish much.  I have temporarily lost my desire for reading but mostly spend my reading time on short articles and bits of news here and there.  I did get a notice that Anne Hillerman has a new book out.  Since the library is still closed and the digital books often don't have the newest books, I'll probably end up just buying a digital copy from iBooks or Amazon.

I hope everyone is having a good day.  Looking forward to your posts.

CallieOK

Good Morning,

Nothing written on the calendar but I've managed to fill my days.  Of course, they don't start very early.  ;)

Saw a comment in another folder that someone was going through her sewing kit and would give the thread to a friend who quilts.
That made me think of doing the same thing and offering the thread to my dil who has not only made T-shirt quilts for almost every graduate in the family but has now begun doing them for others...with pay.
She and son came by yesterday and she took all of it - including the embroidery thread and some counted X-stitch patterns.  I used to do a lot of that but the fingers don't work that way any more.  :(

This morning I took 3 large bathroom rugs to the cleaners for laundering.  My machine isn't big enough for one -even set on Bulky Load - so I wait until I'm down to one clean one and take the others in.
They would pick up and deliver but it felt good to be going out for something other than a doctor's appointment.

Marilyne,  I really miss our Safeway, which was renamed Homeland several years ago.  Used to be one very near me but Crest, Super Walmart and Aldi chased it out.

I went through my list of E-Books I've Read and did a search for some of the authors I hadn't read in a while.  My e-book Wish List is now very long and several are on Hold.  The normal pattern is for all of those to show up at the same time.
However, most evenings are lovely for sitting on my patio reading and watching the birds and two rabbits that come every day.  The rabbits don't mind if I walk out into the yard but will move behind the holly tree if I'm not holding the hose.  Guess they know when I'm going to water the pots.

Jackie,  I would absolutely be in heaven if I could sit and watch the sea.  I'm not a sun/beach person at all but have loved the few times I've been to the northern coasts of America.

MarsGal,  my security system is hard-wired but sometimes begins beeping for no reason.  A neighbor discovered that pushing the # key will make it stop.  Thank goodness!

Jean,  I've been watching 4 ship sites along the St. Clair river out of Lake Erie. One is the Port Huron bridge and another is called Boat Nerd and located on top of a building where the river curves. I did a Google Map search of the area and finally figured out what I'm looking at when Boat Nerd shows ships going on down the river.
I also watch some Times Square live web cams. It's been interesting to watch the street blockades when the curfew was in effect and the various people who come and go.
Miss Ellen "sniffs" and says that area is "for tourists"  :) and the only time she goes near it is to get to auditions in a Casting Studio along one of the side streets. I sometimes gently remind her that on her first visit to NYC, when she was in Middle School, she was enthralled.

Just saw your post that was added while I was typing.
I've been able to "Wish" or "Hold" several e-books that aren't coming out until later in the summer.  Was amazed that I'm way down the list already.

Off to find something useful to do....like iron four shirts that are hanging off the ironing board.

Enjoy your Day, Everyfriend.

A good Wednesday Morning HELLO🦋🦋
Feeling a bit nostalgic the past couple of days after my SIL'S passing.  Without a doubt she is in a better place....no more worries, no more pain 🌹🌷🥀

Yesterday we decided to go to Pappadeauxs for our meal.  I have been so hungry for shrimp.  We sat on the patio on an area that is built out over the sidewalk.  No one within 12 feet of us.  It was delightful and we felt very safe.

JACKIE, I am delighted to read about your visit with the lady that took you on the nice outing!  I hope and pray she will do it again with you as I know you must have enjoyed it so much.  Nice of you to reach out to half sister Carol again.  I hope she will keep in touch with you.

MARILYNE, I agree with you that the time really does seem to be passing very quickly.  I am ashamed of myself for not taking advantage of this Covid down time todo more cleaning out here at our house.  I just have to admit I have a hard time doing this as it is emotional and therefore I keep putting it off.  Last week I was cleaning a cucumber and evidently left it in the bag I was peeling into.  We have looked everywhere and it is nowhere to be found.  About a month ago I went through my kitchen drawers and threw out duplicates.  One item was a brand new peeler that Bob did not like as well as the one we have had for YEARS....yep, now I have to go out and buy another of the ones he does not like!

I wish you all a good rest of your day.

Good Afternoon from the
sunny and warm rocky coast of Maine..

I used to shop at Safeway in Port Townsend,
Washington.    I also stayed overnight  in their
parking lot for two weeks when I first got
there while I was looking for an
apartment.  The word got around this
very nice community and I got me a very
nice studio apartment.    I used to house sit
for my landlords while they traveled.
House sat  and watered their plants..
That worked out well for all of us.

Going through sewing stuff and giving
to people who can really make good
use of it is a very good idea.

Time is flying by for me also...
These last few years are going by
so fast.  I find it hard to believe.

Have a good day,  Everyone,
Sandy

Yep, the weeks are flying by to me also.  Daughter came for visit on Friday instead of Saturday, and now my "days" are all messed up. If I wasn't looking directly at my desk calendar, I would not know this is actually Wednesday!  Hope I can get caught up soon.  We've been having rain showers during the nights, and sunshine in the daylight hours, so it is very humid.  We're in upper 80's which for Texas in June is sorta cool. Back to the 90's next week.  Oh, and the Sahara Sand is getting ready to turn everything brown, and make it hard to breathe.  It is amazing that sand from across all the oceans, can make a mess of our environment here.  Some people are already having sinus problems and it's not actually here.  Supposed to be Thursday, I think.  A nice brown haze is to be expected!  Oh, joy!
It's almost my nap time, so I shall leave you with good wishes for a pleasant day and evening.  Take care of yourselves!

Marilyne

Jean - The same here in California, as in Florida . . . the high numbers of Covid-19 cases are in the Southern part of the State.  Los Angeles is the worst, but understandable, with a population of over 10 million in Los Angeles County alone.   Here in Santa Clara county we have almost 2 million people, which is bad enough.
Our schools haven't opened yet either, and they keep moving the date forward.  It's now set for the day after Labor Day.

Callie - I saw in the paper this morning, that NYC, (actually all of New York), as well as New Jersey and Connecticut, are requiring people arriving from states with high coronavirus rates to quarantine for 14 days.   I don't know if OK falls into that category or not, but if so, that means Miss Ellen, might prefer to stay home for awhile, until the ban is lifted?    What a good idea, to take your bathroom rugs to the laundry and have them done there.   My old Washing machine cannot handle heavy bathmats and fluffy rugs of any kind, so I usually do them at the laundromat.  I was dreading it, because they are difficult/heavy to handle - especially when wet!   I will follow your lead, and take them to the laundry instead, and let someone else do the work.   More expensive, but well worth it!

Jenny - How nice that you and Bob got out for a pleasant meal,  with good outdoor seating.   Some of our local restaurants have opened, with sidewalk seating, and some with outdoor patios.  However, there are lots of complaints that the tables are too close together, and that pedestrians walk by on the sidewalk, and are talking an laughing, and NOT wearing masks!   They are mandatory in California now, but nobody seems to care about following the rules . . . especially the young people in their 20's and 30's.    I'm tired of wearing masks too,  but I plan to stick with it until things get a lot better here . . . which won't be for a long while I'm sorry to say.

Sandy - Speaking of masks, how did you do with your mask making?   Last time you posted here, you were getting ready to do some serious sewing!

Tome - Tell us more about the  "Sahara Sand"??  You mean it actually blows all the way from the Sahara, and settles in Texas?  That is a pretty amazing journey!

Jackie - What a wonderful story, about connecting with your half sister.   It was so nice of her to give you the wooden plaque , with the personal message.   Also very interesting that she also has MS. I don't know if it tends to be a genetic illness or not?  Did your mother also have MS?

Well, guess I'll read for a while, and then post about my latest book, in the Library~Bookshelf.  I'm really enjoying it.

CallieOK

Marilyne,  I take my bath rugs to Legacy Cleaners that also does laundry.  I just have them washed and folded - nothing fancy - and the cost is less if the total weight is 10 lbs or more.  They're hard for me to carry so I go to the drive-up area and the nice lady comes out and gets them off the back seat.   I get a text when they're ready - usually in a couple of days - and she puts them back in the car.

Miss Ellen and her roomie/friend from here are "playing it by ear" and don't have any time frame for returning.

Our weathermen are also talking about the "Sahara Sand" that's due to hit here in the next couple of days.
One showed a satellite picture of the dust moving across the Atlantic and a map showing how it would come into the Gulf of Mexico and northwards.
He said this happens every year and this year is particularly bad. Apparently, there's a second wave beginning to come off the coast of Africa.

I don't remember ever hearing about this phenomenon but Oklahoma has red dirt, anyway, so maybe I just thought that was it.

Sandy - Speaking of masks,
how did you do with your mask making?
Last time you posted here,

Marilyne
I failed badly at the mask making...
The home made masks are just too warm
for this time of the year.    I suspect
that we will be required to wear masks
far into the Winter Months,  so I may
decide to make some more.    Kelly took
two of them with her today.

Today was the first time that they
are allowing one person to come into
the building per apartment.
So Kelly is my choice as she does
so much for me.

We have been lucky here in Maine,
so far.... but unfortunately I suspect
"our day will come"...

My family is lucky so far.
But we are wearing masks and
keeping out distance.  Using
hand sanitizer...

We are not trying to fool
Mother Nature as she always
wins.

Marilyne,  Heard about the California earthquake on the evening news.  Hope your area is okay.

Sandy,  I like the quote by Mark Twain.  I'm so glad I was able to cross almost everything off my "bucket list" before I got to That Certain Age!

Wish I had a mask that has whatever it is down the middle that holds it away from the nostrils. I begin to feel as if I'm smothering.

MarsGal

Callie, the Boat Nerd webcam is atop a law enforcement building. Streamtime Live's webcam is on the Blue Water Convention Center's building at Port Huron. At Marine City their cam is atop a water company building. I was happy to see John G. Munson arrive at Marine City this morning. When I first started watching the St. Clair, it was at the Marine City site, and the Munson was one of the first ships I saw. These days, instead of going down to the bend and then turning back to slide into Marine City's dock, Munson has been turning around upstream, out of camera sight, and backing down before sliding sideways into the dock. I always love to see that. BTW, the other day in the Port Huron chat section, I read that the resident Peregrine falcon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vN2eGIOLLIc is named Tonka (or Tonga, I forget which). She hatched out in 2003 and has been nesting somewhere under the Blue Water Bridge since 2005. That makes her 17 years old now.

My sister drove me over to the doctor's office Tuesday morning and then down to the walk in lab to get my yearly bloodwork. Afterwards we went to Perkins for breakfast. There were only two other couples in the place. We both had sausage biscuit w/gravy, hash browns, bacon and eggs. I took one biscuit home and had it yesterday for breakfast. Today I am off to the dentist for a tooth cleaning.

I've made a little more progress in clearing out stuff. Even so, every time I trash a bunch of stuff and neaten things up, I end up with a lot of orphans that I am keeping which no longer have a home. Isn't it amazing the amount of stuff we accumulate, box away or stack/hide behind other things (and then forget we have it) just in case you might want them or fit into them sometime in the future, you understand. In fact, this week I found something I forgot I had that I went and bought again.

I guess the NY governor's interstate travelers aren't going to be coming for any weekend trips any time soon then. NYC must be hurting awfully bad for lack of weekend tourists and theater goers. And who wants to spend two weeks in quarantine when you only have a week's vacation time to use, or even go anywhere you'd be in quarantine at all. Wonder how the Adirondack's and other outdoorsy vacation places are handling all this.

CallieOK

Good Morning,

Tome,  I bookmarked YouTube Stream Time Live that gives links to Port Huron, Marine City and Algonac.  So I follow the chat. That's what led to my looking up photos on Google Maps.
Have been tempted to post about the "ladies of a certain age" who follow and discuss the ships on S&F but wasn't sure how that would go over.
I knew about Tonga but didn't realize the age or nesting place. Interesting.

I also have Duluth Harbor bookmarked.  That site has Jeffrey the Gull who sometimes "comments" - particularly when another bird "invades" his perch in front of one camera.  :)

The "just in case..." thing is the reason I was keeping all that thread and x-stitch patterns.  Same thing with dishes - particularly serving pieces - but I really don't need the shelf space so there they sit (set? - I can feel my h.s. English teacher clearing her throat.  ;D ).

We used to have a Perkins and I remember their good breakfasts.  So many chains that serve "plain ole down home cookin'" have left this area.  Now there's an ethnic restaurant or something that does creative things with herbs/spices on every corner.

Neighbors like to take their RV out to a local lake for a couple of days mid-week.  She told me yesterday they tried to do so on Tuesday and, for the first time this summer, couldn't find a parking space.  I suspect it's the same at the other lakes around the state.  (Read one time that Oklahoma has more lake waterfront area than either coast has on oceans.  The largest ones are in eastern Oklahoma and are very popular in the summer.)

Miss Ellen is taking me to an appointment today.  Maybe I'll get some info about NYC.  I'm sure she's keeping in touch with friends who are still there.

Enjoy your day, Everyfriend.

Callie, I don't check in with the Duluth cams, but usual don't see anything interesting going on. My timing must be off for them this year; I saw more last year. I have yet to see Jeffery this year.

Callie, do post about the "ladies of a certain age" who post about watching the ships come in and go out.  I have Duluth Harbor, Marine City and Port of Quebec on my toolbar. Guess I'd best look up the Port Huron and Algonac also.

Just touching base with all the Bait and Tacklers.

Nothing exciting in my little neck of the woods.  Same old thing.  I was up early to get my trash out and then sat in the recliner and slept until almost 11.   Makes for a shorter day.

I had breakfast and lunch together, so won't have to worry about anything until dinnertime. I do need to get something cold to drink and then I want to read for a little while.  After I get dressed, I hope to go down and sit outside for a little while.

Hi to all the friends here. Have a great afternoon.

My favorite cam, is still the old original Duluth Harbor cam, where you can watch the bridge go up, and get a close up of the ships as they go through the canal.  I especially like watching the people who gather at the wall and the walkway, to wave and cheer, and especially like the loud boat horn, and the response from the bridge.   If it's a popular boat like,  Paul,  the crowds are usually huge, with people standing on the benches and taking up the entire walkway.  Sorry to say that so far this year, I haven't seen Paul, even once!  :'(

My second favorite is Marine City, and Charlevoix, is fun to watch on Sunday,  when they have the parade of small boats  -  sailboats of all sizes, houseboats, even row boats, kayaks  and those family boats with the canopy.  I haven't seen it in a long time, so maybe they aren't doing it this year?  I remember last year there was a boat parade  on the Fourth of July, and all the boats were decorated, with flags, streamers, etc.

Marilyne,  I need to correct something I said about taking bath rugs to be laundered.  If the load weighs 10 pounds or LESS, the cost is less.  Picked mine up this morning and the cost was $15.50 for 3, each of which is 5' x 2'.

I haven't watched the Duluth Harbor cams as regularly because the Boat Schedule shows most of them arriving or departing at night.  I do like to watch the crowds on the Canal and have learned to switch cams so I can see the boat go all the way across the harbor.
Also like the Two Harbors Boat Launch cam and watching the personal boats unload and load off trailers.  Can switch to the Two Harbors Depot cam and watch them go out onto the lake.  Can also see more detail of a ship coming into the Depot.

Here's a link to StreamTimeLive on YouTube.  It has links to Port Huron, Marine City and Algonac - as well as a seaplane airport in Alaska.  I happened to click on it not long ago and watched the biggest cargo plane in the world come in for a landing and taxi. Awesome!

Tome,  I'll think about that post. Not sure about chiming in on the conversation among the "regulars".  :)

Ellen said yesterday that she and 2 roomies plan on returning to NYC around August 1. Although the restaurant in which she was Hostess (she didn't go back after the Wisconsin Christmas Show) closed all its locations, she said they're now open for outdoor seating and she plans to contact the HR person to see if anything's available.  All of this is, of course, subject to change.

Hi, Joy.  Don't mean to leave you out with all this ship-watching talk.  I've just put several e-books on Hold and need to finish the ones I'm reading before the others all arrive at the same time!  I'm trying to finish the "Miss Julia" series by Ann Ross as well as one by JoJo Moyes.
Ellen and I brought lunch home from Chicken Salad Chick   yesterday.  I had the leftovers for lunch today.

Desk work is stacking up.  "Turn Around, Callie, and Get Busy!"  :knuppel2:

Yesterday was overcast but today has been bright and sunny.

Things have been very quiet here today.  Gigi is getting a new roof and has been texting me photos every now and then.  Looks really nice.  Now we are all hoping and praying no hurricanes this year please!

Will be so glad when this pandemic is gone.  I had gotten a book called "Back Roads of Florida" that shows several interesting places to go only an hour or two away from us.  Now with this pandemic any little trips are nada until who knows when.  I better not complain but just be thankful we don't catch anything.😇

I check the Duluth webcam regularly but the ETA of the ships never works for my timing.  I have subscribed to the YouTube ship streaming site and have better luck with that.  I caught the longest freighter at the Algonac site a couple of days ago.  The "chatters" seem to think it was one of the longest.

We had breakfast late and I have a beef roast in the crockpot that should be nice and tender by now.  I don't feel much like cooking a regular meal but think we will just have some roast beef sandwiches.  Found some nice looking tomatoes that didn't cost a humongous price and some nice iceberg lettuce.

Hope everyone has a good day.
