Hi gals. I just got back from my 6 mo. ortho appt. He says xrays are perfect and that the pain in my knees is because of my fibro slowing the soft tissue healing. I had to drive a long way to see him, but I knew where I was going, so it wasn't too bad.

My urology appt wasn't for a current UTI, just to see if there is something he or I can do to prevent additional ones. I have to go in for an ultrascan and xrays before he tells me anything.

I finished my Jodi Picoult novel last night and it was well worth the read. I think everyone should read it. It wasn't heavy and hard to read, it was a novel, but it raised a lot of points to think about. I'm hoping John will read it too.

It is about 90 and humid here today, but that's normal for SC in July. I don't mind. I just stay in when it's hot.

A PT came yesterday and is going to work on my arm/hand which goes numb periodically. I have so many aches and pains, it's ridiculous.

Alpiner, I agree with Jane about the nervousness before a mamm.  One time after I had changed imaging centers, they saw something and did an ultra sound of it. While I was waiting, I nearly had a stroke thinking it was back, but it was just some calcification.

Mary, you must have been thrilled to see the baby again. I haven't seen any of my ggbabies for over a year.

We take walks outside and go pick up mail & books, but otherwise, we only go to dr's or grocery. Masks at all times.

Jane, we were so sorry to see Cam Newton leave Charlotte, but he had so many injuries, he just couldn't play much. I hope the Patriots protect him better. Good luck with getting all your blinds up.

Our broker takes care of nearly all our financials. We've had him for 30 or so years and he was recommended by good friends in IN who had had him for ages too. He understands how conservative we are and invests only in stocks with high dividends which he then rolls into a Money Mkt Fund, some of which is sent to us to pay our Brookdale expenses along with draw-outs from my annuities. His plan sounds good and is better than what we could come up with.

Stay safe and healthy everyone.  Sharon

Busy day getting ready for my sister and bil on Sat.  Iwill need to go to grocery tomorrow for fresh veg and fruit.

Same hot and humid here and COVID numbers jumping up, too.

Stay healthy,

Jane

Good morning, Every Buddy.  It's a bright sunshiny day here in Auburn.  I've read the paper, cleaned up the kitchen, and am ready to go for my morning walk.  I will walk 3 long blocks downhill and 3 more back up.  I'm usually pooped out by reaching my backyard!

Not much else to report today.  I don't expect to see Tim anytime today as he took me to see my cardiologist yesterday.  Tim parked my car away from other cars and sat outside to avoid the people inside the waiting room.

I need to get my flag out and put it outside.  I'll have to dig around in my utility room to find it!

I hope every Buddy is well and already enjoying a nice day.  Have a good one, Every Buddy!

Hi Gals. Glad your sister is coming, Jane. Will make the 4th more of a holiday. We aren't doing anything.

Melanie & S moved yesterday and are on their way to FL.

Lori is expecting her son and grandson in Chicago for the weekend.

I don't think Brian and family has any plans other than a cookout and Braeden coming home.

Not much of a holiday in our family. Just staying safe.My PT guy didn't come today as it is considered a holiday, but of course, he didn't tell me that.

Sue, is Tim cooking out tomorrow for you all?

I hope everyone has a safe holiday and enjoys whatever plans they have.  Hi to everyone.  Haven't heard from Marilyn lately.  Sharon

jane

Sue...I have my flag out, too.  I went down to my neighbor's for more of his honey...the hives are in the yard between us...so about as local as I can get! ;D  I do like it in my tea.

Sharon...I think those PT and others forget we don't automatically know what's a holiday for them.

It's beastly hot out there already at 10:45 am....90s and heat index of 102.  I've got my sprinkler set up as we're so lacking in rain.  I need to go out to WalMart and buy another hose caddy and new hose.  I see mine is in bad shape, so time to replace.

I may not be around too much the next few days with my sister and Brother-in-law coming tomorrow for 3-4 days visit.

The house and their bedroom is all ready, so glad for that.  I've got to go see what the covid numbers are here for today.

Take care and stay healthy.

Wish this heat would go away. I also had to do some running today and started out at 9:30am thinking would be cooler. It was already 86 deg. Now 93 and over 103 with humidity. So I picked up from cleaners, Went to get Parrot food and pick up my one prescription. I had done shopping at Aldi yesterday. So glad as both they and Meijers for priscription parking lots packed. That was it. I am in for the day and most probably tomorrow.
I did not see any flags or decoration in a 8 mile radios. Not even on the Graves at the cemetery. Don't know why. Now parades or firework shows this weekend. Thank goodness. People been letting them off for the past 10 days. starting at 9Pm to MIdnight. We have a big tent across the highway selling them. Can't understand as over that side of road is mostly people from Mexico. Must be at least 90 famalies. They were doing it. Don't know why. Just like the noise i guies. I never have care for fireworks.
They have been saying we would have storms from last monday. so far nothing. My roof would have been O.K to repair. Suppose to rain now next week.

My Illinois daughter family going to have their usual 4th cook out. I use to go but now mostly younger people. About 50 of them. Wish they had cancelled but they didn't.

The big party that was held for Graduation in the area now have 24 people sick. Also the pizza place and  sandwich shop that catered it has had to close down for at least a month as 4 of their people came down with the virus. Other than that our state doing well.
My Texas one. Terrible there. SIL had to go to emergency again. Found he had a rupture and I don't seen how they didn't see it when he had the other operation for appendices 3 weeks ago. They must have kept him in as not heard.

All be safe. Enjoy the family Jane.

Happy 4th gals. Lots of flags and a car parade here. I think older people are more patriotic. I have 2 small flags I put out for all the patriotic holidays. We can't put a flag holder in our villa.

I slept in late this AM. I needed it and was really hurting when I got up.  Mel & Sangmin got down to their home in FL early evening yesterday. Both safe. They had unpacked the car and the cat was on the lanai chasing geckos! He loves doing that and then if he catches one, he brings it inside to Mel. Not her favorite thing.

It's hot and humid here too. As I said yesterday, no plans, but I may start the week's laundry.

Hope all of you have a good day and stay safe.  Sharon

jane

Happy 4th, Buddies!

Jeanne....we're stuck with this heat for this week, apparently.  It's like living in the tropics or down on the coast of Tx and probably FL.

Sharon...hurrah for good ortho appt.

I've got the sprinkler going in the front...poor plants are gasping for water.

Not much activity around here...just pickups going by with kayaks in the back for the whitewater park downtown.  Those paddlers will be really toasted with today's heat.

I'm catching up on my laundry before my sister and husband get here, so I'll be all caught up.

Have a happy, peaceful, safe, and healthy 4th and weekend!

Our park is now down to just 70 CAnada Geese. They did slaughter 100 even though people tried to stop them. The mess did get bad and now so many restaurants around the park. Going to also do something to stop the eggs from hatching as they do not want them to get any higher than the 70. sort of going against nature. Kids did love them. Fact grownups also.

Still so hot here 92 and so humid. Glad I am staying home. not much going on in town. No celebrations anywhere. The only fireworks are still the Hispanic People across the highway. They going crazy. Maybe end tonight.
I was doing so good until this hot weather by just getting out a little to shop etc. Now feeling so tied in. Only people talk to are on the phone. Not much of that anymore as I think they are all feeling the same. Just hope that lots more will not get  Ill after this weekend. I know of 2 big get togethers going on.

Good morning, Jeanne and Every Buddy looking in.  It's another bright sunshiny day here in Auburn.  I've read the morning paper, had breakfast and cleaned up my kitchen.  I need to get outside for my walk soon before it gets any hotter.

I will walk down hill 3 blocks and back up the same 3 blocks.  Going down is easy, but coming back up is difficult.  I seem to poop out on the trip back up the hill.

I hope every Buddy looking in has a nice day planned.  Take care, every Buddy.

Hi Gals, There were fireworks for about 2 hours last night somewhere in our area. Bunny went and his with John. Fortunately they stopped at 11:00. I couldn't see them for the trees, so don't know where they were.

Guess who finally responded to me on Messanger on FB? Ginny Ann! She didn't say much, but I told her I missed her and invited her back to BB's.

I made 2 long phone calls to people from our church that I had been intending to call. Both were very happy to hear from me since I hadn't talked to them since the move.  I tried to watch our church's sermon which was streamed on line, but couldn't get it to play. I did get the SS lesson.

I have my 3rd load of laundry in and one more to go.John's playing online bridge, so guess I'll go read. It's a Danielle Steele book from about 3 yrs ago called undercover and so far is very different from her usual books, but I'm only about halfway through it.

Hot and humid here too and nothing going on. We got our main meal at noon, so guess we'll have a pizza for dinner.

Hope everyone had a good 4th and are relaxing today. Sharon

maryz

It's miserably hot and humid here, too, but fortunately I don't have to go ouside for anything.  And my AC works very well.

I went to sleep last night to the sound of fireworks (as I did for a couple of nights before). I have no idea when it stopped, but obviously it didn't keep me awake.

We're just making plans for what we need to take next week. I've found out some information about what happens when I get back (I think).  I know I'll have to get a Covid test, but I think I have to make those arrangements - at my own doctor's office or at the county Health Department. I know I have to quarantine for 10 days to 2 weeks, but I'm not sure whether that'll be in my apartment here or somewhere else (like at Margaret's house). I'll talk to the head of nursing tomorrow, and make an appointment with my doc, if necessary.

Sharon, great that you heard from Ginny Ann.  I hope she checks back in sometime.

I hope everybody had a good holiday weekend, and staying cool for the upcoming week.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

JeanneP

Mary. I am beginning to think that taking a vacation this summer would be wrong thing to do. It does look like with some people even though tested once O.K but if you go anywhere and then come back to where you are going to be around people you have to be Quarantined for 14 days. Can't see any company letting employees take a vacation and then have to not come back to work for another 10 days. Maybe I am not looking at it right. Now the lady next door was off a week and then now everyone has to have temp. taken as they enter the front door area of the work building.. But I hope you have  a nice trip to the beach anyway. I know I need a break.Just can't stick to doing anything at home now. I start but quit in 5 min.
JeanneP

Jeanne, this is a family get-together we've done every year since about 1980. Before any grandbabies, and those babies are all in their 30s now.  We set this date when we left last summer, so it's not something that can be changed easily. I'm willing to put up with the quarantine when we get home.

Just a quick look-in to see if you all survived the fireworks.  It was very quiet here...some here on my street since our State Legislature made fireworks legal two years ago, as if they had nothing more pressing to work on.

Still VERY hot and humid here...

We're going to go to CR today...my sis has a Sam's Club membership and she can get me some allergy meds there that are OTC and cheaper than WalMart.

We'll have lunch there and then left overs tonight here at home.  They'll be here through tomorrow and leave Wed.  My brother-in-law has removed the paint from the steps off the porch and sanded them down.  They look so much better.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

Good morning, Every Buddy.  It's already 10:30 here this morning and I've not done anything except eat my oatmeal!  I slept later than I wanted to, but am now

"up and at 'em!).  I am going to walk down the hill and back up.  I will wear the mask Tim made for me some time ago. I don't usually see anyone else walking while I'm outside.  There is one man who does not live in my neighborhood who also walks about the same time I do, but he stays on his side and I stay on mine!

I hope Every Buddy is feeling well this morning.  Have a nice day, Every Buddy.

Hello Every Buddy: I have been here every day to read your musing but did not post anything from here. We are doing well not going  anyplce to do any visiting. Went to church yesterday hlf of the people wore masks and the other half didn't. Only 15-16 people there.  I even sang with my mask on and it kept slipping down.

Freckles didn't care for the fireworks around the neighborhood I swear I think some of them were close to being the commercial fireworks that the casino shoots off every year. LOUD!!  Freckles snuggled up against me and I  held on  to her talking  comforting things in  her ear. I put a pillow on the other side of her so she could stick her nose under it.

maryz

Marilyn, good to hear for you.  It's so tough for the pups when the fireworks are going off.  I've never been a fan of fireworks. I love all the colors and designs done in professional displays, but not just the individual "bangs" ... just noise, and way too dangerous.

Darlene, as bad as the heat is here, I know how bad it can be in Texas.

Glad you're having a good visit this weekend, jane.

Jeanne and Sharon, I know you keep busy in your areas, too.

I did more checking with the nurse and director here - and got more information.  After being gone next week, I have to have a negative test before I can come back into my building.  I'm told I can't get one until Monday after we get back on Saturday, but the results should be back in 2-3 days.  Guess I'll be staying at Margaret's until then.

Good morning, Mary and Every Buddy looking in this morning.  I think I read that Jane is having weekend company with some of her family.  I'm sure she will enjoy their visit.  Hopefully we'll hear all about the company when she checks in.

Not much going on here today.  I do plan to walk down hill three blocks and back up.  However I need to get dressed first!  I hope Every Buddy looking in has a nice day!

Just will not cool down here . 87 already and going to 93. Not even out for days.beginning to tell on me.
SIL !no need to come to town as grass not grown any in over the week. Maybe can go 2 weeks now. Save him coming 40 miles.

Cut the back of my hair again last night , seems it and my nails grow daily. Hands not looking good at all.

Maybe today will try to clean all the knickknack that I have .even he ones in China closets looking dusty. Fact whole house needs dusting. Needs windows opened up. Fresh air in.

They said we would have storms all this week but not a drop. Now showing not until next weekend. They could have fixed my leaking roof but put off thinking rain.

Been looking for sprays to use but none to be  found. Lysol not seen in 4 months.
JeanneP

jane

Same heat here, Jeanne, and no sign of changing through even next week, weatherguessers say.  I can't stand to be outside, so doing nothing outside.  Heat index over 100, etc.

Marilyn...not many places to go here, and it sounds as if the same there in OR. Many of our churches aren't open for services yet.

Mary...it's good you can stay with Margaret.  I don't know where we can even get a covid test...have to have symptoms, I guess, and then can get at the hospital.

Sue...be careful in this heat with your walks.

Darlene...stay safe in the heat and humidity, too.

Sharon...hope all is ok with you. I see by NC and SC have high numbers again.

We had a nice trip to Cedar Rapids yesterday, and I forgot to get garbage bags at Sam's.  I went out to WalMart this morning and got some, but they have a "scent" and I can't stand that.  I"ll use these in the garage and go get some unscented ones tomorrow, I guess.

My sister and BIL are leaving tomorrow, which is to be the hottest day of the week.  GADS!!

There's been no rain, so I'll need to water tomorrow here as well as Kathy's as they've taken their new RV and gone to Door County, WI, until Friday.

Take care and stay safe and healthy,

jane

SharonE

Jane, it seems we get some rain almost every day and supposed to have scattered showers all this week. It sprinkled a little when I took Bunny out, but not much. Super hot and humid and possibly part of a tropical storm later in the week.  Glad you had a good visit. your nephew is a real worker and very good to you. If you want a covid 19 test, try calling the health dept. If they don't do it, they will know.

Mary, glad you got the info on your re-entry to your apt. Hope you have no trouble finding a test site. Have a wonderful time at the beach and eat lots of seafood for me!

Marilyn, Bunny was scared over the fireworks too. She either snuggled up to me or went and hid in her bed in the den with John. We even had some last night.

Darlene, think you're wise to stay home at this time.

Jeanne, don't go out too much. Take it easy and read at home. It's way too hot right now.

Hi Sue. Hope you are doing okay. I take it that Tim & Kris didn't come over for the 4th. Be careful walking.

My house call dr. came today and ordered some steroids for the bursitis I've developed. She also increased my thyroid dose. Sure hope it helps. I'm tired of freezing.
Stay safe everyone & God bless. Sharon

maryz

jane, I checked with my doctor's office about the covid test - and they only do it if you're symptomatic.  Otherwise, you have to go to the county Health Department. In this county, there's a main office, which is open for testing 2-4 pm every weekday, and a satellite office in my town that is open weekdays from 8-11. You stay in your car and do a drive-through. So we'll plan on doing that on the Monday after we get back.

And, BTW, I cannot stand scented things, either.  If you can take them out of the box and just let them "hang out" until needed, the scent will eventually go away. I usually was careful to check, but hated it when I forgot and had to give things away.

Sharon, it's been "southern" hot and humid here, too. No rain yesterday, just hot and cloudy all day. We'll have seafood every night while we're gone. We'll have to figure out something to deal with Sarah (youngest grandchild) - she's dangerously allergic to shellfish. We'll figure something out, though.

Margaret's going to bring me by my absentee ballot this afternoon. Tennessee has its county general election and party primaries for nat'l and state-wide offices on 6 August. I want to get that marked and mailed in before we leave. She's also going to bring me a suitcase, so I can start getting stuff ready.

Happy Tuesday, Buddies!  Stay cool and healthy!

Did you get the rain. Only lasted about 15 min. But was a hurricane. And then the sun out again. Still 90.

Now the USA has the highest amount people from virus. Over 3 million now.  I have got to stop watching news. I keep looking for good.

Yes, but 1,355,623, that is over a third, recovered totally.[

Can you believe that Italy had only 241,956 total cases?

Just a quickie here this morning.  I've had breakfast and cleaned up the kitchen and am dressed for my walk down the hill and back.  I'll walk the 3 long blocks down to the larger intersection and back up.  Going down is easy, but coming back up is NOT EASY!

Have a nice day, Every Buddy--and try to stay cool!

Good morning !  Last Wednesday  I had a mammogram with follow up visit with the cancer surgeon . All is well & will see her again in 6 months .  Yesterday I had a primary care dr. appt. for senior assessment  .  I was given a neurology test , zapping felt like needles !  Today I have a dentist appt. which had to be cancelled a couple months back because of the virus .  Friday I have a dermatologist appt.  to have some spots on my face zapped .  Then finally I hope all my medical appts. are up to date !
Its been in the low 90's here , cool in the morning & hotter in the afternoon .
We were notified our power will be turned off for 4 hours to replace a power pole . We will be notified before its turned off . The bad thing is our road is narrow & won't be able to leave while they are working in that area . Hopefully we can be away for the day .
