Oh my goodness....SHIRLEY, I will be very honest, I never thought for a minute that you might have Covid. I am very sorry to read this, but it seems you are doing all you can to take care of yourself very well.  I am sure happy you are trying your best to eat as keeping up your strength is so important.I have ever bit of confidence that YOU will come through this and hopefully do well.  Many positive thought for a full recovery for you with plenty of prayers headed your way🙏

JACKIE, as we are finding out, there are many different symptoms that people have from this virus.  There are a lot of comments about the "smell" issue, and now we can not even count on this!  Of course we all know Our Shirley is not just the average bear...so SHE would not ever have the typical symptoms.

AMY, I am sorry to say, but I am not exactly sure what your hand issue is, or was, I hope is the case!  I hope you continue to do well  With your healing process. I just hope you will not over do, as knowing you, that could be a problem😘😘

PHYLLIS, I do hope Zita will not be to much of a issue for you.  I feel so bad for the poor folks in Louisiana....they have endure so much this hurricane season😩😢

CALLIE, I have been keeping up with the storm that headed your way.  Happy it has moved on now and I am always sad for the damage they cause. I have only been in one ice storm and it was horrible.

Oh my goodness......I had to leave to go to our grandson's football game and realized I never posted this.....SO THANKFUL it was still here!

Time to fix some dinner.

Have a good rest of your evening.

For sure this virus has many ugly heads. Today I think I overdid so tonight not as perky. I had to get some stuff out of the RV & unplug/turn off freezer & frig, but did NOT find my fav camping sweats I know I put in to grab easy once parked. Could not find them & am too tired to look longer. Not sure if I made it in to shout I found that stinking beeping battery! It was in the smoke alarm where all those 9v alarms are to keep cats out of various areas of the house. Not sure why anyone thought 3 smoke alarms on one level was necessary, so this one is not getting a battery put back in. Ladder still in place. Date I marked on that battery was 11/7/19 so didn't make it quite a year. I'm going to have a bite to eat, something to drink & go back to sleep. I wore me out & did not do much. Got the dumpster to the street, hope night temps wipe away any germs on the handles, but think the trash guys always wear gloves. Thank you all for the concern & prayers, very welcome. Wishing all of you sweet dreams & God Bless. Shirley
Oops, caught me, Jenny! I know I am going into too much detail about my symptoms but so far I haven't read reports from anyone that wasn't hospitalized so this is sort of doing it my way. It is no walk in the park and don't know how long it lasts, sleep & getting enough nourishment & liquid down is best I can do. I think I have guessed where I got the germ but no way to be positive so don't want to blame without proof. Will suggest that anyone going to any medical facility make sure they are sanitizing everywhere YOU come & go or it may not have been sanitized before YOU got there!

Amy

a great day here with a light drizzle.

Jane, sounds like your day went well. I need Kyle to open jars ,cans and do the scissor work on items that need to be opened. I appreciate the help but wiĺl be glad when I can brush my hair and put my socks on.

Jenny, thank you. did your grandson  win his game?

Shirley, hope you have a restful night.

Amy

Shirley, do you have Lysol wipes on hand or microban spray that kills 99.9 germs. Any place of business we go into we have to use the hand sanitizer and wear a mask.

Last stop before turning out the lights... sure nuff, Amy, got Lysol & Clorox wipes plus 4 large bottles of sanitizer (all thanks to daughter that is on a routine order from Amazon) I insist on paying her for any of the stuff she gets me or tell her I won't take... so she gives in. Today I ordered the concentrate used at the clinic where they test for the viurs.. I knew it had to be a concentrate as freely as they used. Ordered a gallon, only takes 2 oz to a gallon of water... so will share with any of the family that needs. Plan to sanitize this whole house before I let anyone come inside again. I am off to bed, amazing how little it took to wear me out today. Take care of the hand, right or left & are you right or left? I tried all kinds of jar openers after Cas died & finally found one like my mother had, under the cabinet & kind of saw tooth to fit any size. Works like a charm!

JaneS

Well, my day is over and I'm off to the haystack to look for some zzzzzs!  Been sleeping pretty well the past few nights and I hope tonight is the same.

SHIRLEY, I forget which hand AMY said it was but she did say it's her "good" one.  So she's having a hard time of it even if she doesn't say so.  When I broke my arm, it was my left one but one-handed anything is hard to do but just try putting on your sox with one hand.  It ain't easy!  And hooking and unhooking in the back is not doable!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, healing tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning everyone, I really am losing it, I thought I had posted yesterday but looks like I didn't.
All week the wea ther guessers said snow  today. Still raining now. 36 now.

JANE  thank you for letting us know about AMY. I remember when I had the carpal tunnel surgery and learning to type with my left hand only for a month. Was doing PSP lessons at the time and I am surprised that I got good at it with my left hand.

SHIRLEY  I am so sorry you have been hit by the darn virus. Please be careful what you do.  Living alone in that big house with only the cats around, they cannot use the phone to call for help. I am saying prayers for you and a fast recovery.

AMY  so good seeing you, missed you. I know about  using the hand that is not your primary one. Hare thyping with one hand and I had to do it 3 times with carpal tunnel surgery.

SHIRLEY  I had one of those under  the cabinet jar openers at my last apartment in my son's house. Got  left there and I doubt if I could find one again I would not be able to put it unser a cabinet here.

Have a good day everyone and stay safe.

good morning everyone.
another chilly day here 20 f at the moment with temps going up on the weekend.

doing good here, even fed the dogs without help :) not sure what today will bring other than making a casserole for supper.

shirley, it is my left hand and as jane said my good one. dressing is fun as jane mentioned but we have had a  or rather i have had a lot of giggles from it. same with kitchen help....peeling potato for baked potato last night was fun to watch. little things that one takes for granted  turn into monumental tasks but all in all it does get done.happy to read you do have all that is needed but the microban is a spray on and leave.....no work for you like the liquids.....you need to rest.

gloria, thank you .  we have already had snow and thankfully it didn't stay. i had told the dr surgery after all the canning pickling and before the snow blower work  and he obliged .

enjoy your day.stay safe.

I'm up and attem.  In fact, I was up waaaay earlier than I had planned.  My phone went off beside my bed around 5:30.  It scared me enough to make me get up and look and it was Frankie.  She NEVER up that early so I got scared.  But when I read her message, I relaxed a bit.  I don't know why it came up so early in the morning but she was asking if I remembered when she mailed her ballot.  It seems someone  is trying to make more and more ballots too late to be counted and she wanted to make sure hers got there in time to be counted.  I reassured her and I hope she is OK now.

It's been raining for the better part of two days here and it's supposed to rain most of today too.  I don't mind rain in the warm weather but I do hate being out in it when the temp is close to freezing.

I'm kind of late getting here today because I had to make dog food whele we waited for the boinger.  Now she's getting ready to remind me that she needs to go out so I'll have to suffer through a walk in the cold, dreary rain.  But that's doggie love!

My plan for today is one quick trip to Davy's.  They've reopened after 2 1/2 weeks closed for renovations.  I'm eager to see what they've done.   And I'm suffer from not being able to run over there whenever I feel like it.  That place has established itself!

I wish you all the best of health!
I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

And don't forget to share it with your friends in the Soda Shoppe!

Shirley, I'm shuddering to think of you up on a ladder, feeling sick with Covid.  Thank goodness, you found the beeping alarm so that maybe now you will take it easy and rest, drink plenty of fluids, eat a little something nourishing even when you don't feel like it and get well soon.  And, for heaven's sake, please don't be going outside and digging through the RV for clothes!  You must have other clothes inside the house that you can get warm and comfy in.  Yes, I'm being bossy.  You need someone to boss you around a little bit so you will take care of yourself.  :tickedoff: We are worried about you.

Zeta buzzed through pretty quickly, thank goodness, but left trouble behind.  Some people without power but the utility company is getting that fixed.  The wind brought a fairly large limb down on my deck just as I was sitting here at the desk looking out at it.  Scared the bejeebers out of me!  It made a lot of noise but didn't seem to do too much damage, if any.  It just missed the deck table and chairs.  Really, really tired of storms this year.

David will pick up groceries later this morning.  I hope I get all that I ordered.  I was running pretty short on a lot of things.  We are beginning to see some shortages here again.  People are beginning to panic buy several items and shelves are going empty.  We are living in a crazy, crazy world.  I couldn't believe the astronomical prices of meat when I was filling out my order yesterday!!!  Needless to say we will be having more vegetarian meals for awhile.

Take care, All.

Haha, Phyllis, it was a "safe" ladder that my son gave me for Christmas one year, only about 7 steps & very nice handle at the top to hold on to, only had to go up several steps to get that ding-blasted battery out (been smiling ever since). And those sweats I can't find are my fav, know anyone else that has purple & red hoody sweats?  I'll never find any like them again! Just what I need to wear about the house to make me feel better.  :)  Sorry about the tree limb. Do you have a chain saw to cut it up? Firewood for next winter! My son & I have gas powered Sthil saws but he bought a battery powered small one he can use out in the forest (no danger of fires) & brings back plenty of firewood to campsite.

Jane, I'm in Frankie's mode of wanting to be sure MY ballot gets in. I have to wait until Monday morning to call the election office to make arrangements for "someone" to pick up my ballot & then return it. Said that isn't an option. Don't they realize people work??? None of my family live in the same precinct as I do & even though working at home most of the time, they are kept busy. They will do anything I ask but like I told my DIL, "I don't want to use up my offers of help and find I need more/worse later".... Just had a brilliant idea so will see if it works...

Gloria, I bought other kinds for the RV & nothing worked. One time I was so hungry for a peanut butter & jelly sandwich, by myself in the woodsy campground in MO & couldn't get the lid off that new jar of Skippy, I tried everything & vowed to find a solution. Amazon came up with it & I got one for the house & one for the road. I do think one came with the sticky stuff to use instead of screws, but I didn't want it falling down in the middle of a crisis. :D  Thanks for the prayers.

Amy, I am so right handed I can't even answer the phone with my left. I have a brother & son that are ambidextrous. Son switched to right hand when he had a problem at 5 years old, called Perthes Disease. Before that he would pick up a bat or football & use whichever side he leaned to. My brother was dominate left & cracked his wrist when cranking a Motel T Ford. He wrote left handed all his life, Andy wrote right handed. We didn't have anything to do with it. We think teachers may have nagged my brother to use his right hand but since Mother & one of her twin sisters were lefties.... didn't matter to us.

Onward... laundry awaits...the piles grew & grew and I am ready for a nap.

Good morning from the Interior hugging the thermometer at ten degrees for probably the rest of the day. Other than catching up on a few things here, I've spent most of my time on the couch, catching up on emails. Such an exciting life I'm leading.

Amy

Patricia, sometimes that is all the excitement one can handle. Soon you will feel up to par on doing things. Is Farrah snuggled up beside you?

Amy, she has two places six feet up that she prefers as perches. I laid some old black towels up there, and that's where she can hide and watch both me and out the windows.

Carol

Amy:  I do hope your hand surgery mends quickly.

Shirley:  WOW - that is sad news on the wicked virus.  We have heard that some people can catch the virus more than once.

We remain pretty hunkered down and I have started online shopping where they deliver to the front door for one year.  Already, one freezing day it was just wonderful to have that service.  I am happy to get anything so usually say OK when they substitute something.  We are adjusting to staying home near Denver (a suburb) and it is odd to find ice on the streets after being in Arizona so many times.  Coping with heavy and much too fast traffic - people are mad at the world right now.  We take as many back roads as possible especially to go to the VA hospital for tests and more.

Jenny:  I hope you and Bob are doing well.  I imagine he would rather be in Florida?

Lloyd Hammond

well I try to do more reading than Posting, but  Shirley at most of our ages we do not to be on any ladder at all. I have in the past mist judged how many steps left and fell off. thank god we have good carpet and thick pad under it. so i never got any broken bones. I do not have oserprosses < spelling) like Nancy dose, her bones are so brittle she broke her left leg just turning in one of the steps in a line dance. had to have a steel plate put in from her ankle to just below her knee, 84 screws and some clamps and glue to hold it in place. she sure watches what and how she moves now. well it is way past my bed time so out of here and shot and night time pills. sweet dreams i will be back tomorrow.

Lloyd

Amy

Good morning everyone..

My gosh it is chilly out 7 ° F . Laundry will be hung on the line later hopefully.
I am not sure who started the meatloaf meal Phyllis?? Then Jane and I followed through.....told my friend I had a delicious meatloaf sandwich and she said darn......now I have to make one. So last night for supper they dined on meatloaf.  :2funny:  Power of suggestion.

Carol thank you. Just wish I had of thought to cut fabric for masks but didn't :(

Lloyd, our neighbour Floyd fell of a ladder....really made a mess of his leg. I think you and he are around the same age too.  Does Nancy take vitamin D ?  Vitamin D is necessary for building and maintaining healthy bones. That's because calcium, the primary component of bone, can only be absorbed by your body when vitamin D is present. Your body makes vitamin D when direct sunlight converts a chemical in your skin into an active form of the vitamin (calciferol).Vitamin D isn't found in many foods, but you can get it from fortified milk, fortified cereal, and fatty fish such as salmon, mackerel and sardines.  Glad I could copy /paste !

Patricia, don't you just love all the places they call their own. Callie next door loves to sit high in an opening inside and looks down at you.

Jane, missed your good night post.......you must be tuckered.

Gloria, my friend said she has 20 lbs of apples for me, Royal Galas...I can see pies and apple sauce coming on!

Phyllis, shopping is no fun anymore. I hurry in and out so others that are waiting in line can go in. Can't imagine what it will be like when the nasty weather gets here.

Shirley, hope today is a better day for you.........don't tire yourself out. Just take it easy and let your body heal.

Joy, hope all is well in your neck of the woods.

Take care and stay safe.

All this talk of cooking and baking made me take my old notebook with recipes... Yesterday I baked two batches of cookies, about 100 each! Aviv will be delighted.

I hope you all have a "delicious and sweet" Halloween!

Gloria

Good morning everyone, it is a brrr 24 this morning. We did have snow yesterday, about 4 inches, so beautiful covering the trees, glad most of the trees have shed their leaves already but the pine branches where weighed down with the snow, must have been a wet snow. Of course I stayed inside and did not go out to enjoy it. Most on the pavement melted because it was stoll warm

JANE  if you are anything like me you must have been scared when the phone rang that early.

PHYLLIS  glad you scolded Shirley. She always does too much and having Covid she has to take it easy.

SHIRLEY  I am  right handed but  my daughter can use either one. She can write upside down and backwords with both hands.

PATRICIA  I am another one like you living an exciting life-NOT.

AMY  I  remember hanging clothes on  the lines in winter,  they froze to the lines before I even got the pins on them. If it was windy  they  thawed good and were nice and soft and smelled so good. The heavy thing I had to put on a rack near  the stove because they never dried outside except for the legs.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good Moring Everyfriend!

I remember one night when my Gramma headed up the stairs while I was still sitting at the dining room table doing my homework.  She said, "Honjane, if anyone wants to know where I am, tell them I went to bed.  I'm plumb wore out!"  Well, last night, I was "plumb wore out"!  I didn't even stop in the office to turn off the computer.  And I slept soundly until 7:15 when I got a text from Cathy asking for my shopping list for the store.

The temp still didn't quite make it to freezing.  Right now it's 35 and overnight it was 33.  That's cold but not like it is at AMY'S!  And I'm not looking forward to that either.  Spring and Fall are my favotite seasons....not to hot and not too cold!

Not sure what today will bring.  I might make a quick trip to Davy's.  They are finally open again after their 2+ weeks of renovations and I'm really eager to see what's different.  And I need a couple things from there.

There goes the boinger so I better go feed Mickie and me.  Cooper isn't coming today so we're on our own.

I hope everyone is feeling better, well, good!  I wish you a great day!  Make it your own in every way!  And don't forget to share.
Sorry about the tree limb. Do you have a chain saw to cut it up? Firewood for next winter!
Shirley, we have two chain saws.  A gas powered one and an electric one.  We bought them when Hurricane Fran hit us head-on in 1996.  Trees were down everywhere.  Tom used the gas one and I used the electric one. It took us a month to clean up everything but we got it done.  Tom called me "Chainsaw Granny"  ;D  David managed to get the limb off the deck and will take care of it later.  He will likely take it down into the woods and stack it.  We don't need firewood.  I converted the fireplace to gas burning logs years ago.  Cleaning the fireplace after burning some logs was never one of my favorite jobs.

Bright sunny morning here but pretty chilly when I got up at 6 a.m.  Next week we are supposed to have the first freezing temps. of the season.  It seems that we are well in to late Fall and it hasn't felt like Fall for most of the time.  It just stayed hot and humid.  Everything is topsy-turvy this year.

Gloria, I don't think it did much good to "scold" Shirley.  I think she'll just go on doing what she wants to do, anyway.  I'm afraid we Kansans are a stubborn bunch.    ::)

Take care, stay well, All.

Bubble, inquiring minds want to know...what kind of cookies did you make?

Laundry should be dry now as it did turn out to be a nice sunny day. I see the doves and jays have picked the seed clean so need to put more out for them.

Leftovers...yay for supper tonight so that is already taken care of.

Reporting in, want to make sure everyone knows that I "made it thru the night~~~~~~" I've been sick since last Monday so I'm sort of recognizing a pattern. New torture every day but once I have it figured out I am good for up to 3 hours & somebody turns off the power & body wilts, insists on going horizonal. Close my eyes & I'm gone for at last 2 or 3 hours. Good thing we have 24 in a day or I'd run out of time to get eating in. I did get up about 1:00 or 2:00 am, ate half a pb&j, cup of Postum & right back to sleep. When I got up this morning I fried me an egg, baked a small potato in the microwave & then chopped it up in that same skillet (in butter) for hash browns, you have no idea how good that tasted. Much to do so can't sit long. Supposed to get to 70 today.

Shirley, can you drink Boost or Ensure? Along with the food you are cooking it may help you. My friend WOULD NOT drink either one till a nurse showed me what to do. She asked him if he would like a milk shake.....YES! She took the Boost, put ice cubes in it to get it very cold, took the cubes out , then poured cream in it....cream not milk. He loved it....I know,  a sneaky way to get something into him but it did work.

I also made cookies today....coconut macaroons and they're um um good!  I put a plateful in the hidey hole!

Gotta go take the doggie for a walk before it gets too dark.  See ya'll later...I hope!

Beautiful day here.....we are headed to Dave and Michele's for dinner.  Michele always makes her SPECIAL Mac and Cheese 🧀 and boy is it delicious.  We will sit out side and watch all the Trick or Treaters come buy and pick up their BIG candy bars off of a table that will be distanced from us as we wear our masks and enjoy the kiddos🎃 Not sure exactly how many to expect but the word on the street is it will HALLOWEEN as normal👻. We shall see. We live in a gated senior community and we NEVER have had little ones come, so that is why we go to Dave's House.

Enjoy your evening. Don't forget to turn back your clocks tonight😩. If I had my choice I would NOT do it!  I do not like for it to be dark at 4:30!
