Domestic Goddess: Is this correct, if one would like to post/share a recipe, we do so here?  If so, was searching to see if there were separate recipe categories?

Beverly - I have a big smile on my face just looking at those two adorable baby girls!    The cute bows on their heads, are perfect for the Fall season.  I also like seeing the beautiful trees in your daughter's back yard.  We don't get color like that in California.

Between the splendor of the trees and the happy smile of the girls, I don't know what to admire most!  Thank you for coloring my day  :)

Was all ready with the ooohs and ahs for those darling little girls & gorgeous fall scene.. and scrolled on down to our wild & crazy Bubble!  Big laugh at that!  Nice to see someone awake in here! Good job, Bubble!

I've probably asked before, are the girls "mirror" twins? I see they both have a leaf in the same hand. I'm fascinated by twins & wanted to have them so no "baby of the family". My brother's son had twin boys.

Shirley - Hope you're feeling better. I don't know if the girls are mirror twins. It's an interesting idea. I'll ask their mother. I do know they have different personalities which shows up in their pictures. She makes those bows  (head wraps) and sells them on Facebook, mostly to friends.

Shirley

Beverly, my twin aunts you could pick out which in all of their young photos... one stared off into space (remained the dreamer all her life) and other faced direct into the camera. She was stern & like that until she died. Bless her heart, she would have saved the world if she could.

My doctor called me right before 10:00 pm to tell me my covid test results came in and I do have the virus. He is shocked & never knows what to do with me but I did promise to call him day or night if I started feeling "different". I've been sleeping all day & night since Monday & do think I am a tad better today so hopefully maybe the worst is over. I have piles of laundry in the hall that may get washed tomorrow ...or not. Sleep gets me another day of healing..... Bed is calling.

so_P_bubble

[[[Shirley]]], where did you catch that???  I am sorry it chose you! But sleep is the best medicine. Rest as much as you can and try not to worry.
I'm sending thought of strength and well being.

Shirley

My daughter left orders last night to make sure I posted an update to one of them several times a day or they be at my door.... I'm hoping I've past the worst of it, sleeping day & night like a baby. Eating only what sounds good but know what is good for me. I have been on an orange kick & took the Air Borne gummies that are full of C... so working on getting past this without a lot of fuss & bother. I am very good at sleeping so indulging myself. No idea where I caught this but seems it can find us when we get a bit low. I did get too cold Sunday night when son was winterizing the RV, I'm sure it had to be in my body before that but the way my body works, can usually fight off anything unless I get run down. I was also disgusted that Mother Nature stopped me from driving to MO to see the trees & maybe a warning to be happy with what I do have & quit thinking I deserved more... I know how lucky I am at this age to do the things I do and got knuckles on the head to be thankful & quit whining so much. Gotta go eat & back to bed, it is still dark out here. Thanks for prayers, that's all we got going for us with this crazy virus. Seems to strike everyone differently.

Patricia, I am happy to see that the UAF has a Sustainable Agriculture and Forest Management program. I've been a long time advocate, of sustainable agriculture and organic gardening. While I was working at Rodale Institute the experimental farm was doing, in conjunction with several universities, research on organic apples and grain crops (especially wheat). We had a number of farms, mostly in the mid-west, that practiced and experimented with various soil conservation methods among other projects. More locally, Rodale began a program not long before I left regarding manure run off and in Urban design using sustainable methods. The Susquehanna River is part of the Chesapeake Bay watershed and as such the state, in conjunction with the Chesapeake Bay Conservancy began a push to clean up water from the Susquehanna, especially where farm run-off is concerned. My particular interests at the time were in forestry and orchard management and especially in water issues pertaining to aquafers and wells. My yard and gardens were mostly sustainable and organic. Sure do miss the blueberry and strawberry plants, not to mention heirloom beans.

Well, that was long winded. Sorry. Got carried away reminiscing. I no longer garden.

Amy

Patricia, beautiful photo!! To  my thinking the more we try to advance on the growth of food the further behind we get on health problems from it. I try to steer away from GMO foods but one can only do so much on that, as it is hidden in everything. Thankfully we do have a garden and can raise some of our food . Finding heirloom seeds is the difficulty now.

Amy, I assume you already know about some of these companies, and I don't know how many will mail order, but I am posting the Canada listings anyway. https://www.walkerland.ca/canadian-heirloom-seed-suppliers/ I hope this helps. Oh, and I noticed a few specify GMO-free seeds as well.

patricia19

I removed the photo because it wasn't the one I thought it was. I'll find the right one and replace it. Thanks for the nice comments but it was the road I was thinking of as the experimental farm was only a small portion of the upper left.

I did find this about the farm, "The University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF or Alaska) is a public research university in College, Alaska. It is a flagship campus of the University of Alaska system and a land-grant, sea-grant, and space-grant institution. UAF was established in 1917 and opened for classes in 1922. Originally named the Alaska Agricultural College and School of Mines, it became the University of Alaska in 1935. Fairbanks-based programs became the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 1975."
