Well, we are having another such day, Larry.  It is not raining yet, but promising to.  The bridge and the Eastern Shore are chalky blue smudges against the paler milky sky.  Not a cloud in sight, as the whole sky IS cloud!

I am having a good time just diddling and piddling around.  Puttering aimlessly, getting all sorts of tiny, insignificant matters taken care of.  Chip has reglued all of the leather layers on the plastic inserts for my shoes.  Since these cost a handful to begin with, and the podiatrist wants $50 each pair for this repair, I am happy with the savings realized.

And yes, I finally got through my entire backlog stack of magazines yesterday!  And catalogs!  Woo hoo!  Now I can just enjoy my books;  at least until more magazines come in the mail.  And after I read this morning's newspaper!  Have a lovely day!

Mary Ann

Larry, things happen sometimes for a reason.  An e-mail from Tom in Indy said he was quite busy yesterday and that is the day I would have gone down.  And Jamie has been ill so he and Tom Tock are not going down either weekend.  I'll try to pick a time when things are calmer.

I am getting tired just waiting for summer to come.  Seems like rain everyday. Hard to plan on anything. Soon will be Memorial Day. Hope it clears up for that.
I to keep trying to take care of little things that need doing indoors. Did get some old files cleared out that need some place in town were can shred them. Once in awhile one of the banks with have a semi outfront that will do this. Most probably waiting for rain to stop also

Mary  Ann. Doesn't seem like its been a year since your last trip to Indianapolis. Just wait until warmer weather. Time trials and the race will be there shortly. I use to go but not anymore. Can watch on TV. Miss the crowds

Hi everyone on this cloudy Thursday morning.  We have rain expected at different times throughout the day and this evening.  The birds are happy and singing a bright tune right outside my office window this morning.  A little later this morning I will pick up my friend and we will go to coffee.  Later this morning I will attend the Wisdom group at the church as I usually do on Thursdays.

MaryPage, glad you could save a few dollars on the shoe inserts.  Every penny helps.  I get very few magazines and one which I had subscribed to a few months ago I just cancelled last week as found I didn't enjoy it and was reading very little of it.  We do get a lot of catalogs.

Mary Ann, things usually work out for the best even when we can't understand the reason at the time.

JeanneP, the credit unions here have a shredding truck come once or twice a year.  I am saving a batch of papers that need to be shredded until I get enough to make it worth while to go to that special day.

Good morning from another bright and beautiful day in the Interior. I just watched the sun come up about an hour ago as I kept waking up in two-hour intervals and finally at three am just got up to come visit. Another partly cloudy, partly sunny day expected.

After being skittish the last couple of days, Farrah has been out more and even played with a toy this morning. Mealtime is stressful for her. I will shake the bag to have her come running, then I have to leave the kitchen, otherwise, she gulps her food while nervously watching me for any tricks I might pull. It's especially hard to wait when I know the coffee has stopped perking and I desperately need a cup!  :buck2:

I'm sorry you had to put off your trip MaryAnn, but it does sound as if later would be better.

I hope everyone's day will be just as they need it to be with plenty of rain or sunshine if needed. And good morning to those coming later .

Good Morning Everyone!

Strange beginning on S-F this morning.  Nothing posted from Joanie and only a posting from our good friend Larry.

We are having heavy, heavy rain here this morning, as was promised.  Suppose to be rainy all day and tonight.

I do hope everyone has a good day and Joanie is well.

angelface555

Good morning Hal. I have to ask, what do the words Big Box mean at the end of your posts?

halkel

Angel, I "attempted" to post temp, but didn't work, and I was too lazy to remove it.

I now see why no postings when I originally posted.  I thought I was on 'soda shop'
good grief, I'm losing it...... :D

MaryPage

Aren't we all!

Another grey day here.  Boring.

Mary Ann

Hal, when you mentioned no post from Joan, I knew you were in the wrong place.  I think she has never posted here.

Six family members met yesterday at a pizza place for lunch.  This is a weekly thing and we go to a different place each week.  Dot usually is with us but she had something else going yesterday.  I had a soup, salad and breadstick and the salad was large enough to feel all of us.  It was a "house" salad and I don't know why it was so large.

I spent some time this morning trying to straighten out a wrong genealogy post.  A woman downloaded a picture of my mother's cousin and attributed the picture to a wife of a man in her list.  Our cousin had married the man, but much later in life.  I hope the person sees the correction and accepts it.

Had a great day yesterday.  Oldest son called me from Calif., Candy called and Dan brought me a new cushion for my desk chair along with some sweets and a lovely card.

Today is quiet here after all the commotion yesterday.  I like the quiet tho.

Hope you all have a great day and HUGS all around,

MaryPage

Was it your birthday?

JeanneP

Larry.  Now we have a Univ. Of Ill. Credit union bank down the street from me. I am keeping my eye out for it to have a truck soon.  Have a bag full of old Tax and Credit slips along with bank Statements that need shredding.  I f not here soon I will just take it to Office Depot. They shred for a charge  I gave mine away. Took to long and didn't do a good job.

Turned 83.  Never thought I would live this long.  LOL

angelface555

Joan, happy belated birthday!

We never think we will last or turn out as we have!

Enjoy the whole week!

Mary Ann

Happy belated birthday, Joan.  You have me beat by a year as I was 92 last month.  I know of four of us who are over 90 - June Drabek and Gloria de.  Maybe more who haven't admitted it yet.

Mary Ann

wjoan

Mary Ann, thanks.  I really do NOT want to get to 90, Have too many aches and pains alreadfy, don't need more.  LOL

Thanks Angel.

JeanneP

MaryAnn.  Now Joan is almost a year younger than you.  I am holding out for my 90s. Think will make it.  I do come off families that lived that 100 years ago and we have had better health service than they did.  Not seem to have ever had any hard sicknesses and yet a couple had over 8 children. All living  as to my research . After that it seemed like very few children had by them. Most just one. lots none at all.  I only remember one cousin growing up. far as I know I am now the end of the line on the Paternal side. Had 3 brothers but all died single.
JeanneP

Joy

Nooooooo !  Jeanne and Mary Ann,    Joan is  "9"  years younger than Mary Ann.  She said she was 83 on her birthday.  I have looked at both messages a couple times to make sure I was reading it right.  LOL

She has a little  ways to go to catch up with Mary Ann.  That is, if she does make it to 90 and I hope you do,  Joan.

MARY ANN

Think JOAN has a few years to catch up to you
. Can see my 94 coming up very quickly, sometimes Imthink it must be someone else I am thinking about.  We are allowed to make mistakes with our maths.

Another plane down. Glad I am not travelling any more. Not even an sos.
I stayed up last night to view the celebrations for  The Queens 90 th and enjoyed it very much. Such a relief from all the election stuff we are getting at present.  Was evident she was enjoying it all.

Have been typing up family history and so easy to get bogged down but now waiting for a copy of a book which is being printed. Find sometimes in these books it is not what is in them but what has been left out.!!!
Cleaner here today so time for me to sit on verandah out of the way, just hope all smoke has cleared as there is a lot of burning off of undergrowth in the bushland to,prevent fires when Summer comes in.

Mary Ann

Joan, I'm sorry I aged you so much.  I have trouble reading the print on the computer and I read your age to be 93.  I was in better health when I was 83!

And I see a post from Junee and I forgot about her when I named those of us over 90.  Junee is 93, heading for 94.

This past weekend, I  passed my grandmother Tock's age when she died - 92 and three weeks.  I had a cousin die a couple of years ago at 97 and I don't have any such goal.  My immediate goal is to last until July 1 when I will have been retired 30 years.  I hope to reach that goal - and then some.

Again, I'm sorry Joan to age you so quickly.

Mary Ann

wjoan

Joy, glad that got worked out.  LOL

June Drabek

I'm not even going to think about how many years more I may get. At this point in life, 91 and a half, I am thankful for each and every day, and I intend to live each one to the fullest....God willing.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

halkel

WJ, Happy Birthday.  I hope you have many more.

MaryPage

Happy Belated, Joan.  It is lovely to hear you had a good day.

Always birthdays in my family.  Yesterday, the 19th, great grandson Miles turned ONE.  Oh my, to be so young!

Today granddaughter Paige turned 42.  Forty-two!  I would like to be that again, as well.

Also, Cousin Jenny (really Jane) turns 66, bless her boots!  Seems to me like just yesterday she was born.

I send out a LOT of cards, and almost all of them are close kin.  A gal gets to be a whole clan.

Well, we seem to have Some sun today.  The air is rather misty, though, and it is not one of those clear days when you can see forever.  Clouds are all about, and more will come.  It is supposed to pour all day tomorrow, and the celebration for Miles has already been moved up to Sunday.

Next week is Commissioning Week, and our town will be filled to the brim and then some, with parents and grandparents and siblings and aunts and uncles and cousins by the dozens pouring in to see their family member graduate from the United States Naval Academy.  The Blue Angels will be here practicing on Tuesday, their official performance being on Wednesday.  Covers will be airbound midday on Friday, while the chapel will host wedding after wedding after wedding all day on Saturday.  The years do have a way of following on another in a rather endless procession.  From my end of things, though, you can pick out the differences.  Everything changes, yet everything remains the same.

larryhanna

Hi everyone on another overcast and a bit cool Friday morning here in South Carolina.  Pat has a doctor's appointment in a little while, just a routine matter related to her CPAP machine.  This will be the first time she has driven herself to this doctor's office but she shouldn't have any problems with it as have been there several times and not many turns after she gets off the Interstate.  I will stay home as the housekeeper is due this morning.  I expect we will go out to a late lunch and then Pat can have the evening off.  This is our usual practice when the housekeeper has been here.  They mowed the front yard here yesterday and just now came and mowed the back yard and then trimmed.  They used a push mower on the back yard rather than the weed eater they have been using.  It has just started raining.

Patricia, how many hours of daylight are you now experiencing up your way?  It sounds like Farrah is adjusting to her new environment and your appreciating the love you show her.

JeanneP, I have a shredder but don't use it very often.  In the past I have cut or torn off identifying information on papers and shredded only those bits.

Joan, a belated Happy 83rd birthday.  I expect a number of us here also never expected to live this long.

Junee, I am with you on wanting to avoid flying anymore.  It used to be an enjoyable change of pace but now it appears to be a real test of patience.  Is Queen Elizabeth the longest serving Monarch in British History?

Mary Ann, from your postings I think you enjoy life and I certainly hope you are with us much longer than July.

MaryPage, your town must seem empty following the Commissioning Week when the town is so full of people.

MaryPage

No, Larry, never empty.  I wish!

Annapolis is a tourist town, in addition to being the home of St. John's College (1696) and the Naval Academy and being our State Capital.  It is one of those towns that never really sleeps, and on weekends does not sleep at all.

It is just that on Commissioning Week it is over full.  Way over full.  People rent their homes out for outrageous sums, and sleep on their neighbor's sofa beds or in their guest rooms.

Well, one way or another, we get through it every year!

Mary Ann

Friday morning and the sun is shining.  Tom and I have both done our duties for the morning - Tom puts out the recycle stuff and I get the regular trash ready.  Recycle is picked up about 9:30, and has already been picked up, and trash pickup is nearer noon.  Tom is at work and here I am.

Mary Ann

wjoan

Thank you MaryPage and Larry.  Was a good one.  :)
