Domestic Goddess: Is this correct, if one would like to post/share a recipe, we do so here?  If so, was searching to see if there were separate recipe categories?

Patricia, amazing photos! Love the colours in the October one and pray tell how is one going to walk on the sidewalks??

Amy, I imagine very gingerly.

What I'm wondering is how much new snow will fall after the previous 28 inches?

Amy

One might invest in a pair of snow shoes :)

That works!
What would be the average amount of snow in a year for you?

Patricia - I love that soft pink glow, in the October photos.    I recognize the Fairbanks Native Elders Program, from a picture you posted last Spring or Summer.  It sure did look different then!  Also, I remember the area in back . . . there was a bright colored blue or green bus parked there.  Probably now in a garage somewhere until the snow melts.

28 inches of snow per year, November through March. Of course, there is a difference between snow sticking and snow falling. From a post, I made on the 8th, "The local paper says, "Only 2.5 inches of snow fell between December and February last year. This year, 18.2 inches fell the past three days."  28 inches in total from 11/06 through 11/10.

We are or were an extremely dry climate and you need moisture and humidity for snow. Some years you could clean your driveway with a tablespoon, others a snowblower, or somewhere in between. We used to have very cold winters with December and January having two or more weeks of minus thirty through minus 68. Those types of temperatures aren't conducive to snow. We haven't seen that type of cold since 2015.

Marilyne, that pink glow came from a sunset.

Jane, congratulations! He is adorable! Babies are alway such a pleasure!

Thank you Bubble!  That one must have taken the slow boat to Israel!  I sent it right after he was born on November 1.  He's changed a lot since then!  But he's still adorable!

Congratulations, Jane!   And if we knew about it the first of Nov, I don't remember!  Life has been a little crazy the whole of 2020~  But he looks like a keeper, tell us, how big was he at birth?  Thanks for the posting, Bubble...

Yesterday was our last beautiful day - it was  already storming in the night.
We all went to the beach and Aviv had a great time in a very calm sea. My neighbors joined him.

Bubble, Aviv is no longer a little boy, but a nice looking youth! I'll bet he enjoyed his ocean dip. I enjoy watching him grow via your photos and posts!

Shirley

Fantastic photo, Bubble.... you always pop up with a photo that is so far from the Israel in my head (and I'm sure you are tired of me saying this}... I have to do a complete head adjustment to comprehend what I am looking at!  Tell me, is it salt water so you float?  I've only been in the salt water on the Gulf Coast (I've seen both east & west coast), and was uneasy with the salt water. I felt out of control because I'm not a good swimmer. Glad you had a chance to get out with them.

Marilyne

Bubble - what a wonderful sight!  Looks so inviting!   I've always lived near the Pacific Ocean, and spent my youth and young adulthood, swimming and playing in the waves.  Wish I could enjoy it one more time before I'm gone, but I don't see that happening.  The sea water is too cold for me, here in Northern CA, even in the Summer!  Southern CA is a different story - usually warm enough to go in even in Winter, if it's sunny and calm.  I remember going swimming on Christmas Day at Long Beach, with my brother and my cousin.

This is the Mediterranean Sea, it is usually warmer than the ocean. Because we had had such high temperature the water matched and was around 25C (77F) and that is very pleasant. Yes it is salty water, not like the Sea of Galilee or Kinneret which is sweet water and our main source of usable water.

It's been years that I can't bathe in the sea any more. It is too difficult and the sand/salt would ruin my wheelchair.  But there is a wooden walkway that gets near the water edge and that is where I usually "park" to supervise Aviv.  Not that he would listen if I call him back!

One of the walkways - the one I go to is in the middle of the beach, with sand all around and with people on chairs or towels all over.

What a lovely photo, Bubble! I wish I could join you along the seashore!

Amy

Bubble, thank you for sharing these amazing photos! Such a difference in the water. Interesting shades of blue in the last one.

Day 16 since the snowstorm and they've only cleared the center of the streets, yet snow trucks go by nightly. Marilyne, note I used an arrow to point to the bus. The color in the sky is because the higher atmosphere is thinner. It's also colder than the ground. Plus the smoke in the left-hand corner bends under the clouds showing it's warmer. Straight up smoke is a sign of frigid weather here.
