Good morning from a minus 19 Interior. We're supposed to warm up to minus five, but so far, we've gotten colder in the hour and a half I've been awake! I hope this is just a minor fluctuation!

I've never been into sports because I've never been that coordinated. In gym class, we played soccer, softball, or dodgeball, and none of those appealed. I did love skating, and all the schools back then had a skating rink. And in the seventies, I loved watching skating and gymnastics in the Olympics.

Gloria, here you can order a Thanksgiving meal for three to five people for $59.99 or $79.99 for eight to ten people. Everything is higher here because shipping is so much higher than within the lower forty-eight states. It's a lot cheaper to fix your own or make an early reservation to go out.

They are talking about the third wave of new cases after this one, and the more people that mask up and protect themselves and others, the sooner we will be able to get back to a more normal life. I'm glad that Yvette will soon be able to be back with you.

Thanks for the good wishes on my thirty days. So far, so good! 👍

Our city buses are running on a minimal schedule, and SeniorRide and Van Tran are presently closed. So, taxis are prohibitive and so busy they won't even give you an estimated arrival time or pre-arranged pickup and delivery.

well I am here but just barley before Noon, I slept in very good. 51º and sunny calling for 61º and sunny.
Hope you all have a good day.

Amy

The day went well, Dr  said he didn't need to see him back for 5 years  One down one to go!

Last  night we had high winds and pounding rain. Power was off and on but stayed on in our area but not in other areas.

We ran into snow , blowing snow then rain. Lots of widow makers down and signs blown over.,generators working where needed. Just got home in time for snow to start up again.
Sure glad to be off the roads and in a warm house.

Gloria, we also had very high winds ,I ended up turning everything off and grabbing our emergency lights just in case the power went off and stayed off. Pellet stoves are nice, a friend has one and it heats their large home. Maybe that could be a thought for us......Sounds like the perfect time with your family and meals to come home with you. Your son likely doesn't mind driving you, think back to all that you have done for him ,you can enjoy each others company

Lloyd, glad you did get some sleep. Hope both you and Nancy are keeping well.

Patricia, my goodness that is chilly!! Just heard on the news that some folks won't get their power back on till Tue. Going to be an awful chilly night for them.

Phyllis, a vehicle is a necessity here also...we're in the boonies and have to travel for everything.

Jane, worth every tired moment to be with the kids. Remember when we could go like they do now?

Better sign off before I write a book..

This was another one of "those" days!  I got a lot done but it doesn't really show.  Frankie stopped by on her way to WM and left Cooper here then brought me some laundry detergent back. Now I can strip the bed and wash the bedding.  I was going to do it this morning and I suddenly remembered that I'd washed every drop of soap out of the bottle.

Then my two grand nieces stopped by.  Bridget came up to take Bethany home from college.  They wouldn't come in so we stood out on the porch and talked fast enough to catch up on all the family activities in their family and Bethany's college days.  Then we exchanged all the Christmas items  and they took off for home.

I had a pot roast in the crock pot in time to be done for supper and it was delicious.  There's enough for several more meals and I'll freeze a couple of meals tomorrow.

I paid some bills, got a couple birthday cards ready, cleaned up a couple places that got missed the last time around and I'm ready to finish the candy cups tomorrow and pack candy in bags for Texas.  Then Wednesday is fruit cake day!  I have to get it baked and aging no later than Friday of this week.

Sounds like I have a busy week coming up!  It's already down to 37º and on it's way to 30 overnight then Tues and Wed night we're going into the 20s.  I think I'll just stay home and bake!  No snow predicted this week or next week and that's a plus!

Now I'm heading for the haystack to collect some of those zzzzs that keep piling up in there.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, feel-good, get-well tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good snowy morning.

Woke to snow on the ground, not a lot maybe 1" or so. Temp is 22° and I hope the sun comes out to shooo away the snow.

Need to go into town , the light in my pantry is flickering and I need to replace it. Then home for whatever needs to be done.

Jane, I am tempted to go back to bed! You made me tired just reading all that you did yesterday! Hope today is easier for you.

Gloria, hope Yvette gets her note from the Dr soon. You both seem to be two peas  in a pod and enjoy each others company.

Patricia, I was raised near water and we were either in it in the summer or on it in the winter. Love skating and I still have  skates . Kyle still can't find the missing hearing aid......guess we will call the company today and see when he can get another one.

Better get a move on.

Enjoy your day ,stay safe

Good morning every one, 33 now and will get up to mid 40's today. Too early for sun to show yet. Will be a good day, Yvette will be here today. Her client before me will be happy to see her again. Just heard on the news that some cities here are going back to bars and restaurants going back to pick up or delivery. With this rotten covid getting worse they are going backwords again. Glad my family and those I see are all OK. Some schools are going back to online teaching again. Even the colleges will be doing that again. Sad to see the world like this.

PATRICIA  the $15.00 is for 1 person and the only vegetables are mashed potatoes and butternut squash, nothing green, no dessert either. I have had food from this restaurant before and it is not that good either. I will be going to my grandson's home, just family, my son will have Christmas dinner. In the evening most of his inlaws go to their home but he said this year they  will not do that. Every year the crowd gets bigger. New marriages or sweethearts and babies. I have been there a few times when they were all there and it was fun but a madhouse with noise. Got so I had my son take me home before the crowd started showing up.

LLOYD  glad you had a good sleep at last. Just make sure you take care of yourself and keep away from the big machinery.

AMY never heard of a doc tor saying not to come back for 5 years, maybe 5 months. Looks like you hubby is doing great. Maybe it is just me but I feel like I should still be doing for my 3 kids. The 3 of them are getting into their late  60's and retired and doing better than I ever did. When those strong winds hit here I slept all through it.

JANE  good time to be baking with the oven helping to warm up the house. I know I did a lot of baking in the winter months.

AMY  I used to love skating in the winter and roller skating in the summer. Still like watching the skating in the Olympics.

Time to go get my oatmeal cooked, getting hungry.

Have a good day and stay safe and wear a mask going out.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  This will be short because Mickie will be telling me it's time for her walk any minute now.

The weather report said that we were supposed to have snow flurries around 7 this morning.  I didn't see them but it's turning to rain any time now.

I have some of the bedding in the washer now and the rest lying on the floor waiting.  I think I'll put the flannel sheets on the bed today.  They feel cozy this time of year.  That means that if the current sheets don't get washed....so what!

I have all the stuff sitting out to get the fruit cake started and while the first stage cools, I'm going to finish rolling the peppermint and rum centers for the candy cups.  Frankie said she's coming over this afternoon and I'm thinking of drafting her to pack bags.  She said she'd help.

GLORIA, I'm so glad to hear that Yvette will be coming back soon.  I know how much you missed her.

AMY, it makes me tired to hear all the stuff you do!

Mickie is telling me it's time for our walk so I guess I better get my shoes and coat on and get moving.  I wish you all a great day!  Make it your own in every way!  And don't forget to share!

Cold here, too.  It was 35 when I got up but the sun is up now so beginning to warm up a little.  It is supposed to be even colder tonight and tomorrow.

We spent nearly 3 hours at the car mechanic's yesterday late afternoon.  We didn't get home until almost 6:30 and I was so tired I didn't even want to eat.  Even David just wanted a bowl of soup.  They found a lot of water underneath the back seat and cargo area and under the floor mats.  Apparently the drain around the sun roof was clogged and just poured rain water down inside the car where we couldn't see it.  The mechanic spent a long time tracing it all down, he hoped, and cleaning it and draining it.  Also, cleaned the back window seal and seal around the hatch back.  I will NEVER have a car with a sun roof again!  I'm thinking now of getting rid of this car but dread the thought of looking for another one.

Thank goodness, the next few days are supposed to be dry and a little breezy so I will open all the car windows and hope that it will help to dry out the inside.

MAKE it a good day, Everyone.  I'm going to try to.

Our sky is looking blue again - hooray after so many days of a white sky from  so many fires. One son is taking great care as a co-worker has the virus.

Phyllis:  That sounds like a big mess with your car - I have never heard of such a thing.

We are not gathering for Thanksgiving and most likely not for Christmas either.  Church is online instead of indoors.  I was making some things for the charity bazaar but that is not going to happen this year. Every day, I remind myself how fortunate we are to have housing - ability to get food in the house and our children are well.

patricia19

Good morning from the Interior, where it's clear with no cloud cover. That means it's cold and will stay cold. It's presently minus sixteen, and the low was supposed to be minus ten. Someone read the wrong chart.

Amy, having no power in winter is terrible, and for long periods in winter! Do they have available heat or places to go?

Jane, are you sure you don't have an energizer bunny in your genes?  I don't know how you do it!

I was also raised near water, Amy. We did lots of ice skating in the winter and river boating in the summer as my dad's passion was building jet boats, and he taught others. My parents had built a cabin on purchased land, on the Salcha River. Many family friends had cabins in the area, and the wives and children would spend the summer there, and the husbands would come out on the weekends.

In later years, we traveled up other rivers, and my sisters and I would play with the village children while the parents would sit by the fire and hold weighty conversations on the way of the world and the weather. We were always given fish directly out of the smokehouse when leaving.

Gloria, that certainly doesn't sound very good, even for $15! I'm glad Yvette's back; you two truly enjoy each other's company! I'm lucky that in my group, all the children are adults. We rarely have any of the grand or great grands at our gatherings, so I don't know how I'd be around kids anymore, probably the same as you.

Phyllis, that sounds expensive and perhaps could happen again? At least now you have answers and can decide what's next. I'm glad you got it repaired, even with three hours waiting!

None of us will be gathering this year for either holiday. I didn't expect a dinner this year, but some friends made up a diet restriction friendly thanksgiving dinner for me and are going to drop it by tomorrow afternoon. I'm having no issues with the restrictions, but it hasn't been that long, but so far, so good!

Well, today was a cold one!  It's now in the low 30s and they're saying we'll have snow flurries overnight!  I don't have anywhere to go in the morning so it's ok with me.

I got a lot done today.  I made my trip to the country market and got the stuff I needed to finish the fruit cake (It's finished and aging in a cool, dry place).  I also got the raw peanuts that I always do for my kids family bags.  I didn't finish the candy centers today.  That's on for tomorrow.

Patricia, I didn't take as many breaks today as I usually do.  This job is time-consuming but I did get enough in to keep me going!

Now I'm off to the haystack.  I know it's loaded with zzzzs and I'm going to grab some.  In fact, I think I hear them coming after me!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, feel-good, get-well tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

I am finally back and able to post.  Somehow I managed to delete all of my saved folders and it has taken me awhile to get my iPad up and running again so I could start loading things back in.

The first thing I want to do is thank you all for the nice Birthday greetings for Bob.  He had a nice day and appreciated all the attention he got from family and friends 🥳.

AMY, what wonderful news to read that Kyle does not have to return to the doctor for 5 years. That is just so good to hear and I am so happy for you both.  The wind and pounding rain sure sounded bad.  Glad you did not loose your power.  I have heard that Pellet stoves do a good job of heating a home.  Sure wish you would not have to deal with extreme storms.

JANE, I had to chuckle at you speaking of your rest stops.  One thing I feel certain about, they sure can not last very long😘

BURR PATRICIA! The ongoing cold temperatures never seem to change for the better😱.  I hope the Thanksgiving meal your friends have made for you will be enjoyable.  Good to read that your restricted diet has not been too bad for you.

PHYLLIS, how upsetting to read the news about the leak in your car.  I can understand you wanting to get a new car, but I do not blame you for not wanting to have to do that.  Hopefully they have stopped the issue that allowed it to leak.

GLORIA, happy to read that Yvette is able to come back to you again.  I know you really missed her.

CAROL, we sure have been enjoying some wonderful warm weather for being in the middle of November. I certainly am not complaining😘. Our new Covid restrictions are extremely concerning.  We cancelled our plans to go to California for our youngest grandsons 2nd Birthday today, due to the increase in Covid numbers.  It sure was not a easy decision to make, but a necessary one😩😩

Dave and Michele had to buy a new furnace as theirs died overnight Sunday.  The new one will be installed tomorrow afternoon.  Thankfully we had mild temps during this time when they were without heat.

Hope everyone has a good night of rest.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm up and running!  I have my list made up for today and I have no doubt that I will NOT finish it off.

I forgot to mention that my major rest stop yesterday included a visit with Frankie.  She dropped of her doggie on her way to WM and then visited a bit before leaving for home.

It's almost time for the boinger so this will be short and then breakfast will happen and the day will take off.  First on the agenda is to finish the candy centers.  I'm going to get them done today!

Have a great day Everyfriend!  Don't forget to share!

Baking is on my list today and house hold duties. Need to drum up something for supper tonight and so far all I can think of is tilapia for something different.

Jane, canned dog food is like hens teeth to find here now. So here we go again with shelves empty.

Good morning from a minus 19 Interior where I've nothing planned. I got ahead of myself in thinking my friends would be by today. They will be by this coming Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving. The days drag when you're stuck inside and can't go anywhere. I've become maudlin.  Somewhere Fate is rubbing her hands and envisioning a good kick to reality.

JaneS

I finished the candy centers today (Rum cream, Peppermint Cream).  That's the last of them!  The PB and coconut have been finished and tomorrow is packing day!  I was going to make a trip to the Farmers' Market today but decided to put it off until Saturday and do a couple other errands at the same time.  I'm very relieved to have the candy centers done.  Now all I have left to do is a couple dozen more PB saltines.

We did have some snow flurries this morning but you had to really SQUINT to see the flakes.  Nothing laid on the ground. And nothing stuck to people.  It warmed up a little before Mickie and I took our long walk, thank goodness!  I don't know how you Alaskans stand the temps below zero for so many days in a row.

AMY, I don't buy canned dog food.  I buy a dry one that you restore with hot water and then add your own oil and meat.  I heard that meat might be getting scarce, though.

Now I'm going to in the living room and lie on the floor and do my back stretches.  All that "slaving over a hot stove" has everything out of place.  Enjoy the rest of your day, Everyfriend

I'm so excited! I just found an old pair of glasses, and I can see again! Even better, I will be able to leave my apartment and my building! They're loose, but tightening them will be easy!  🎼  Freedom...freedom...  🎶

Jane, is Pennsylvania a dry or wet climate? I noticed that our dry climate's twenty below is comparable to the feel of Tennessee's wet climate of 40 above with driving rain.  It's all in the amount of humidity.

:hb2:   Happy Birthday, Sandy!  :hb2:

Phyllis, I've been shopping for a new car & finally gave up on what I wanted so will get the 2021 version of what I've been driving since 2013.... Buick Encore.  Because I don't get along with sun I don't look for sunroof and after your ordeal I told the salesman that wanted to bring me one with a sunroof that "it is a deal breaker for me!"  Sorry you've had to go through all that. My reason is I know everything is 7 years old even though not a lot of miles, the tires are 7 years of town driving & I know I've left a lot of tread on the concrete getting in & out of the garage around that RV!  I've been driving "Lill' Red" & loved every minute but warranty is out & auto club has not exactly been what it used to be (when you get a call center in Mexico)... Anyway, going to pick up the new white one in the morning & write 'em a check. My level of endurance is a couple hours & somebody turns off the steam.

#2 son stopped by tonight & cleaned out my dryer vent, I am SO relieved, had thought it was the washer not spinning dry enough, poor old gas dry is only, well, bought is back in '67, remember avacado green appliances?  Yes, still works after cleaning that vent!

If anything could go wrong, it has this week. Today things are kind of shaping up so going to grab a bite to eat & go to bed. Wind has been awful, worse than usual. BUT bright side is the sweet gum tree has finally given up the last of her leaves so one more clean up & I will put the mulcher away. If neighbors leaves want to hang out here I have a blower to encourage them to follow the wind~~~

Patricia, glad you found some glasses that work. I am wearing some several years old because the ones made this year didn't work at all. I still can't believe if I can see perfectly clear when I open only one eye, then that eye's cataract can't be that bad. Problem is I can't open both eyes or all door facings, etc, are curved. Makes it not great for driving. They remade the glasses once & they were even worse. I'd love to find one of the old eye doctors like long ago, that didn't just "flip-flip" and think they are done.

Amy, I'm going to get a small turkey to fix the turkey/noodles my family loves, and will save plenty of the meat for the cats. Cat food is hard to find & these kids are picky. I was shocked how bare the shelves were at the store this week, it was a couple weeks since I had been out. I guess Wichita is overwhelmed with the virus again. I don't want to catch any other versions of anything so plan to stay to myself on Thanksgiving. I will exchange foods with the others but do not want to mingle since they are all "going to work or school" off & on.

I think we should move Thanksgiving to spring or fall when weather is nice, set up tables outside & do it like in the old days.

And now I'm off to eat & find those zzzzzzzzzzzzs before Jane uses them all up.

Sweet dreams to all and God Bless........Shirley

Good Night and sweet dreams everyone. time for meds and shot. hope to see you all in the morning everyone.

Good brr morning, a whole 18 now. Coldest night so far. The heat is working overtime, hardy shuts off and starts almost at once. I slept late yesterday and when I got my brain working Yvette was here already. Now this last night I must have had 3 hours sleep if that much. That's what happens when I sleep too long. I know I have a lot of email to catch up on. Maybe I will get to some of it later if I don't fall asleep first.

JOAN  I am going to my grandson's for Thanksgiving and have ordered a cheesecake to bring. Cannot make much more than the stuffed celery. I can  sit to do that.

PHYLLIS  cars can be a headache for sure hen we miss them when no longer have one.

CAROL  I feel safe in this building, no one here has even thought they might have the virus. There is no one being social thanks to the manager. The seat ing in the loggy was all  put in storage and the chairs on the porches are gone too so no one even sitting outside. The only time we leave our apartments is to do laundry or get our mail. CNAsare sllowed in  and I am so glad of that. I didn't know what I would do without the one I have. Family members can come for a visit. She put a book on a table in the lobby for everyong to sign in when they come. We are starting to feel like  we are in jail and she is the mean warden.
Some even call her the warden.

PATRICIA  I will be seeing my great grandson next week, he is 5 and now in school. You should see him on his tablet. He moves around on it faster than I can do anything on the computer. My grandson works in computers and he was always asking his dad what he was doing and why and my grand would explain it to him.

JENNY  my oldestt son heats with a pellet stove and you cannot  not stand close to it, really throw out the heat.

LLOYD  hope you have been sleeping good now.

AMY  would be great if all doctors would say -see you in 5 years.

SHIRLEY  when the eye doctor I had for many years retired 2 young ones bought hi practice. Everything done by machines, even to telling them where the line in the bifocals went. Did not work for me. too high and cut right across my vision. I finally looked at a pair of old ones and the ones I just got. Big difference. Went back to the office and shoed them  the difference but they said the old ones were wrong. OK Went to a different eye doc whose father was  a partner one one I had for years. He is tiynger of course but my glasses have been good from him.

Have a good day everyone and wear your mask and keep y our distance and stay safe.

Good morning...

Yesterday was a right off in baking. Spent most of the time on the phone trying to fix my email. Frustrating but finally did get it going. Now I have to manually transfer all my contacts from the old one to the new one..

Today we are off to the city for Kyle to sign papers to get another hearing aid. Hearing aids and masks do not get a long and she said many others have lost theirs also.

Sandy, a belated happy birthday to you.

Gloria, tis 25° here now. Children pick up on computers etc so quick and it is good that he is learning from his Dad.

Patricia, so happy that you did find a pair of glasses to use until you get your new ones.

Shirley ,the Encore was one that I would have liked but with two big dogs it just wasn't big enough for us. These guys are just finishing up on the turkey I had cooked for them.

Jenny, my friend took chemo in pill form and did rather well on it. One the Dr gets the right dose  for Michele, things should go a loot better for her.

Phyllis , a leak anywhere is nasty!! Hope for find a vehicle that suits yours needs.

Jane, hope today is a little easier for you. You have been going full out for quite a few days now.

Lloyd, good morning to you and Nancy.

Better get going.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  The haystack called early last night and I answered.  I was almost asleep before I realized that I hadn't signed off in here. I hope someone took care of the lights.  I'd hate to think everything was on all night.

SANDY, sorry I missed your birthday.  I hope you had a happy one and I hope you have lots more happy ones!

I read all about the cars and I'm still hanging on to my 20 year old VW Golf!  It turned over 100,000 miles around the end of the summer and I didn't get to see it.  That's when Frankie was still driving it!  And it really hasn't been that expensive to keep it running.  I keep thinking about the time I decide I need a new one, I won't be able to drive any more.

Kids are so computer-oriented these days that wonder how many of them play outside now.  I couldn't wait to get outside most mornings when I was little.

We're just waiting for the boinger right now and then the day takes off.  The only thing I'm doing in the kitchen today is roasting peanuts.  I almost forgot about them until Christy reminded me that she wants them in her bag.  I usually do them for the guys but she'll get hers this year. While they roast, I'll be packing the other candy in bags and ready to be divide up for families.  When this is all done, I can clean and decorate a little for Christmas.  I do have to bake a pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving.  It will just be Cathy and husband Craig, Me and Frankie and Courtney (two grandkids far from family)

I wish you all a great day!
Make it your own in every way!

And don't forget to share it with you friends on Soda Shoppe!

JaneS  Most cars are built to go for 2000,000 or more with good regular maintenance. do not reamer how many miles Chrysler says , But Nancy has ours done 3,000 Less than they say. and that dose not brake the Bank. Have a good day.
