Good morning everyone, raining lightly here this morning, no complaints, we need more  of it.

JANE  since I brought up the magic carpet I will accept the ride from you to Arizona and home again whenever you are ready. :)

AMY  sorry Kyle has a cold. Good time for him to keep away from people if his resistance is low. Sure do not want him to come in conact with that darn covid.

PHYLLIS  can I ride in that caboose with you? I will not talk to much and will keep my mask on.

BUBBLE  IS IT WARM ENOUGH TO ENJOY THE BEACH THERE? Of course some shade to keep out of the sun.

AMY  our bodies on that beach in our bathing suits will just be the way we want it. I know I am well out of shape with all the weight I lost but will think of how it looked before I had my first baby.

LLOYD  raining here but since I do not have to go anywhere it's fine with me.

CALLIE  you just reminded me of that bus and it was fun, and also Martex and the trips she came up with. Remember when she named her baby goats after us?

PATRICIA  great photos. I hope those who need to, get the snow off the roofs. First winter  I was here we had a lot of snow and rain after so this roof was all ice.  The gutters all froze and it leaked in most of the apartments on this floor and even down to the first floor. Then the manager got a crew on the roof and they were using axes to chop up the ice. Cost the company who owns the building a bundle unless they had good insurance. When it warmed up they had to put on a new roof.

JENNY  I am going to my grandson's for Thanksgiving. I have been with all of them at times since the lock down we had and it will only be my son, DIL and younger grandson that at the grands home him and his wife and my little great grandson.

BUBBLE  oh boy now I am sure we all want to get to that beach.

SHIRLEY  hope tha t sanitizer works. Yvette got me a can of the Lysol sanitizer and I use it anytime someone comes in, even my sons and Yvette. When they leave I spray it around in here, has a nice smell to it.

AMY  no snow but right now it is pouring. Rather see it snowing.

Gloria, absolutely you are so welcome!  You can talk all you want but don't be offended if I don't always answer....I'll probably be asleep.  :-\

Thanks for the offer to take me along, Jane.  I don't have family out West anymore but would enjoy the ride and just watching the scenery go by.  I miss the West so much and haven't been "home" for a very long time.

Sunny and cool here today.  It's Monday so must be laundry day.  I must defrost the ham and make cranberry sauce, too.

I'm sorry Kyle felt he had to share his cold with you, Amy.  Please feel better soon....both of you.

Take care, All.

Merry Monday,

Thanksgiving plans were to be a family get-together at #2 son's house.  However, he is now on meds for bronchitis and grandson has an ear infection. (Both tested negative for Covid  ) His Mom decided that family would stay home and I made the same decision for myself.

Won't be the first time I haven't been with family on Thanksgiving or other holidays.  Both dils have families with "set in place" holiday traditions and I decided from the beginning I would not be a "picky" mother-in-law - except for Christmas.
One dil's family celebrates on Christmas Eve and the other one on Christmas morning.  So I "decreed" that Christmas supper would be at my house.  Has worked well for almost 30 years!!!
Of course, who knows what it will be this year???

Onward and Upward....

Edit:  Just texted with son who's on meds.  He's had a video chat with doctor who told him antibiotic is working and it will take time to clear things out.
So he's going ahead with doing turkey and dil will bring me some on Thursday and swap for dressing, dessert and fruit salad.  Looks as if I'll be busy the next few days after all.

patricia19

Good morning from an Interior where we are back, but not by much, on the plus side of the thermometer.

Amy, four inches of new snow, and Kyle over shared? Welcome to my world! I'm sniffling with no idea who to blame, but I have to go out this afternoon to give some cash away to a few who insist on payment for services received. Who thought up that idea?! 🤷‍♀️

Management said the trees were infected with rot, but rumors were that people were feeding the birds, and management didn't care for the guano on the building sides. There are still trees on the sides and front of the building. I will miss seeing new leaves, squirrels, and bird nests.

Jane, I sympathize with Frankie. I remember one young breakup where I was sure life was never going to be right or possible again.

Gloria, many homes in this area, the older part of town, were built in the teens thru the thirties, and the snow can cause collapses and other damages. We're not used to this much snow; usually, any accumulation melts or ices almost as soon as it falls. Covid will hamper both city and private services.

I miss our bi-yearly apartment inspections as it was a good incentive for heavy-duty house cleaning. It's too easy to put off on my own. Normally, the manager or her assistant would breeze through my apartment in five minutes, saying "very nice" and back out the door again. I want to keep it that way. Of course, we did have our yearly structural and fire extinguisher inspections.

I've gone about decluttering again, this time packing up many of those sentimental items I kept back from my two previous purges, many items that would probably end up in the second-hand stores after I'm gone anyway. But then I realized, no donation tables, no second-hand stores or places accepting casts off now or for the foreseeable future. So, I've got three new taped boxes sitting in my hallway walk-in. I'm at a loss on what to do next.

Carol

Jenny:  Michele is a rock star for her perseverance!  Blessings for her and a;; the family.

Don has not been well today - we will not be with any of the family for Thanksgiving.  I bought a small amount of turkey and plan to make dressing plus sweet potatoes - and more.  This is a good way to make a lot of meals this month.

I never make comments on politics - some people take it too seriously. There is good and bad on both sides (if you really  look closely).  We are fortunate to not be living in a lot of other countries.

On the dark days of winter - my cousins in Norway and Sweden know what the dark days are - they just take it in stride.  I don't think it would be easy to experience it.  I do miss driving the Chevy Suburban in Minnesota that could go through deep snow - mainly to the hockey games (outdoors) with kids (boys and girls to I could stand and watch the darlings.  In freezing weather!   Yes, I admit to being a Hockey Mom at one time in my life.  It was so much fun.

Take care everyone!

Here we are with another day behind us.  I was busy all day and a lot of stuff got done but it's just usual stuff that rears it's ugly head from time to time.

PATRICIA, I'm having the same problem you are.  I'm trying to purge some "stuff" and there's no where to take it.  So it just goes back to the storage room in a different box.

Today I made a new casserole and it made a LOT but it sure is good.  The recipe says it freezes well so tomorrow, I'll put it in smaller containers and freeze some of it for later.  It's already crossed my mine that I might be tempted to eat some of it for breakfast.  I told myself that "the next time I make this, Ill do thus and so".  Then I reminded myself that it might take me forever to eat all of this!

I'm off to the haystack to search out some zzzzzs.  I've been yawning for the past hour so I'm sure the zzzzs are tracking me down.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a safe-from-germs day tomorrow. And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning
Kyle had just cleaned off the garage apron so we needed to do the driveway and out back for the dogs. Snow blower was temperamental at first but did decide to dance.

I feel much better today and not sure what I will get into today. Since I slept most of yesterday away there is lots to do today.

Better get a move on ..

Enjoy your day  and stay safe.

I have a doctor's appointment early this afternoon so not much else will get done.  It takes me a long time to get ready to go anywhere.

I got some of the Thanksgiving prep. done yesterday so feel good about that but was tired last night.

My family is dealing with very bad news.  A cousin of my daughter-in-law and a close friend to all of us was so overwhelmed with all of the bad things that have happened this year and then was laid off from his long time job because of the pandemic, took his life this past week.  All of us are having a very difficult time dealing with this.  Especially my younger son and dil since they always spent Thanksgiving together with him and his wife.  This hellish year just never seems to end.

I wasn't going to say anything about it but could use a few "hugs" from my friends here.

Take care, All.

Good morning everyone, sun is shining but  on  Thanksgiving day rain is in the forecast for the whole day. Makes me want to stay home.

PHYLLIS  it 's OK if you close your eyes to rest them. I will be busy oohing an ahhing at the scenery we fly over.  I am a best  arm chair traveler you know.

CALLIE  I had bronchitis once and it took almost 4 months before it was gone. Hope your son's does not last  that long.

PATRICIA  the roof on this building is very pitched so the snow usually melts and drips off. They have those electric heaters for the gutters so they stop ice from building up and cause leaks. Well those heaters were not plugged in. The manager savinf money again so she would get a big bonus at the end of the year. I t backfired on her and it cost  a lot for the crew to get the ice off and then a new roof put on.

JANE  I like cooking food that freezes good. These days I cannot do much cooking but Yvette does it and then we get a lot of it into the freezer.

AMY  a day off and sleeping is good once in awhile. Work will still be there for when you get the energy to get to it.

PHYLLIS  how terrible for your family especially near a holiday. HUGS to you and the family.

Have a good day and stay safe and healthy.

Good Morning Everyfiend!  It's partly sunny here and right now it's trying to peek through the clouds.  I have to do an errand later and I'd prefer that the sun stays behind the clouds while I'm in the car.

PHYLLIS,  :hugs: to all of you!  That has to be an awful feeling for all of you to handle!

The only things on my agenda for today are:
Deliver a piece of mail to a local office,
Stop to ask my son, the accountant, a question
  Take the doggies for walks
Pack some more of the candy
  Put some stuff away
  Take a nap

I can't think of anything else except to pay a few bills and make a couple phone calls.

AMY, glad to hear you're feeling better.  I hope Kyle is too.

GLORIA, your resident "witch" wasn't so smart after all, was she.  I wonder if the owners know she had the warmers turned off.  I hope so because it means she won't try that again!

Better get myself moving or nothing will get done!  I hope you all have a better day than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Shirley

Got to hit the road but want to sympathize with you about your friend, Phyllis. Sadly, it has happened to several good friends (in their family) and my own nephew did this. It is the most hideous disease in the world because there's no fever, no defining symptoms to alert those around.  My brother & wife and good friends never got over what their sons did, carried their grief & I know, secret blame, to their deaths. The truth is that it is a disease of the mind, and like cancer, nobody to blame when it attacks someone we love. Hugs & prayers for all of those who love him.  Shirley

Phyllis -
I don't often post here in SS, but I saw your message this morning about your dil's cousin.  I'm sorry to hear that such a tragedy has happened in your extended family.  Sending you cyber hugs, and hopes that his wife, and other family members will be okay.

patricia19

Good morning from the Interior, where we're having plus temperatures and light snow.

Phyllis, I'm so sorry to read about your family's young man. Sadly, as Shirley says, often there are no symptoms or signs. People, especially men, often feel their worth is tied up in their job and what they can provide rather than who and what they are. I am so sorry that this has happened, and I'm sorry for his family, especially going into the holidays with this horrible disease.

I wish I were there to give all of you a hug.

CallieOK

Phyllis,  my heart and prayers go out to you and the family.

Gloria,  son has a history of bronchitis and reported this morning that the 5 day antibiotic was like a "bouncer who said "Get Out NOW" to the congestion" and his chest has cleared out.  He will have another x-ray next week to be sure.
Thank goodness he is working from home for the next few weeks..
I remember when both sons and I were each on two kinds of meds (different for each of us) for bronchitis and husband had to leave to take the basketball team to the state tournament.  Not fun!

Had a phone call and there's probably other posts but I need to Get Busy so will....

A good Tuesday to EVERYFRIEND.

We woke up to a good three inches of snow this morning.  Sure glad we got our errands done yesterday so we do not have to go out.

GLORIA, happy to read that you will be at your grandson's for TG.  I think the "witch" is getting a taste of Karma that is well deserved!

CALLIE, hope the meds your son is taking will get his bronchitis under control soon.  Sorry your family can not get together but happy they will make sure you have a Turkey meal to enjoy.

PHYLLIS, I am so sorry to read the news you shared and I thank you for letting us know so we can send you a HUG.  This has indeed been a hellish year and it seems to be never ending with sad situations.  I had my own little cry this morning after reading a story about people being let go from their jobs AGAIN due to our increase in Covid numbers😭😭. Sadly, I am afraid there are going to be more and more of people not being able to "deal" with these hard times😢.

We heard on our news that Denver is to be one of the first areas to receive the vaccine, if and when it is released.  I just wonder how they are going to decide who will be getting the shots first.  I heard prisons will.....

AMY, good to read that you are feeling better today after resting yesterday......however, that does not give you the right to try to make up everything you did not get done yesterday 😤😤 Hope Kyle is also feeling better.

CAROL, thank you for your kind and encouraging words regarding Michele.  I hope Don is having a better day today.  Sounds like you are doing your best to have your own little TG dinner.  Many will be alone this year and I hope most if not all of them will have something as close to traditional as possible.  Did I miss you telling why you are not in Az right now, other than the obvious reason...COVID?

JANE, hope you got all of your running around done and are back home now looking for some 💤 😍

Have a good day.

Jenny, as I understand it, first responders and medical staff will be first, followed by all those in closed populations, i.e., hospitals, nursing homes, shelters, and yes, prisons.

Phyllis, my condolences to your dil in the traumatic loss of her cousin, and to his family.

Carol

Phyllis:  My condolences to your friend's loss.  How we wish someone who is agonizing over their life would open their hearts to family and friends to get help.  So sorry for your grief.

Jenny:  We had about 4 inches of snow and it is really melting fast with the sunshine.  As to Arizona:  we sold the Tucson Sun City house to our oldest son (who lives in Montana).  The best part is we can still visit - even on our own.  Isn't that a great deal?  He is having a lot of fun making changes and meeting our neighbors & inviting friends to sit outdoors and watch the sky.

Everyone:  Just FYI - Don helped me decide on the Medicare Supplement - there are two kinds.  It may have a deadline - I just want everyone to read everything and get some good counseling about what would fit your lifestyle.

Otherwise, Don has not been very energetic lately and now we are staying in with weather and other issues.  I was concerned for two days and today, thankful he has more energy and getting on with his work.  Our children are rock stars when it comes to taking care and checking in on us.  Truly thankful.

I need to use the iPot more - any ideas are appreciated.  I did get one sewing project finished - the machine is in the basement.  Because it was always so cold there, I have not gone downstairs for a while.  There is a gas fireplace in the living area (a walk-out door and windows there too so lots of light.  I hired a handy young man to fix the fireplace - finally a winter with a warm basement.  It is great, we have it on & watched a movie & even ate dinner downstairs.  -- my story is:  the young man fixing it was here for over an hour.  This epidemic has kept me from a lot of visiting so so my surprise I stood and talked with him for over an hour.  When he was leaving, I handed him a lot of Halloween candy because no one had come to the door on that night.  Laughing about this- the poor guy listening to me so nice and he told me a lot about where he wants to live and his family.  It was better than going to see a shrink.  That is my story.   ;D

Well, today was another one of those "do a lot of stuff that doesn't show" kind of days!  I seemed to be busy all day and if I walked through the house I wouldn't be able to tell what I'd done.  I did cross a bunch of stuff off my list.

Frankie came after work and a stop at her house for a shower and she's spending the night!  I suspect she's avoiding any possible contact with the boyfriend who she just split with.  But I'll take it!

Now I'm heading for the haystack.  I can hear the zzzzzs calling my name!  I don't think it will take me long to get to sleep!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!  And may he see fit to clear us of this horrible virus!

Good morning...

Will make this a quickie as the music has started and my dance partner will be anxious to waltz. I hope it is a waltz and not a jitterbug. We have another 4 inches of new snow and it is still snowing. I have to get this dance over with and have the van in for  undercoating.

You all are the most caring people I have ever known and I appreciate everyone of you.  Thank you for the hugs and kind words.

I made it through the doctor's appointment yesterday.  Mostly good news but some follow up with the radiology office near me to be done.  I'll wait until after Thanksgiving to call for an appointment.

A little more preparation to be done for dinner tomorrow but not too much so it will be a quiet day today.  I slept much better last night so things look brighter this morning even though the clouds have moved in.  Not too cold so not a bad day overall.

Please take care, All, and if I don't make it back here for a couple of days....have a wonderful day of giving thanks for all of the blessings we have and for all of those to come.

Good morning everyone. This will be short. Of all days to wake late it had to be  today. Want to make a lemon meringue pie and stuffed celery for tomorrow. Today Yvette will be here 3 hours so will be time enough to do it  all. Want to get every thing ready before she gets here and still have to have breakfast.

Have a good day all of you and as wonderful a Thanksgiving tomorrow, will not be the big gathering we are all used to.

Have a good day and stay safe.

I'm a bit iffy at crusts these days and I hope this will be a "good" day for them.  I used to be pretty good at it but I'm out of practice.

Good morning from a partly cloudy Interior where we're presently at 18°, which is much nicer than minus 18! Today, I will have my Thanksgiving delivered & I'm looking forward to it. Only 21 days remaining on restrictions.

Altho, that's not quite accurate as I had my allergist's three-page list of chemicals I'm to avoid from here on out at the grocery store on Monday. The nurse says it will get easier, but my first time reading labels was a huge awakening. Everything was perhaps 40% actual Food and 60% chemical additives.

Gloria, thanks for the lovely Thanksgiving card, and lemon meringue is my absolute favorite pie! I hope your family holiday is wonderful and you get to bring home leftovers!

Jane, I could never make a good crust. I usually put buttered gram crackers or crumbled cookies on the bottom and called it good!

Amy, I remember those driveway shoveling days!  When we lived on sixth street, and I was about nine, I had dug paths all over the place in the yard, and we built hidden snow homes and forts for girls against the boys snowball wars! Of course, I had to re-shovel after the "Wars."

The city never came back to pick up the snow on the sides of the road, and maintenance never shoveled the back sidewalks. The front driveways are plowed, but everything is minimally done with less staff.

What I find offensive is that the assigned guest & second car parking is the back unplowed areas. There were notices on our doors yesterday that there is no parking in staff areas and those cars will be towed. So why not plow the back?

They also said that "a group of young people has volunteered to clean the snow off the vehicles and between the cars in the resident's parking lot and will be doing this on Friday, the 27th. beginning at 2:00 pm." Why not ask about the back parking area?

Amy

Doesn't take long for a day to disappear here.  Twice, the music played and twice the dance began. Not just staying with a waltz but leaning to break dancing at times. In between this was the undercoating and they washed the van!!!

One can't help but admire the beauty of the falling snow...do you remember catching snow flakes on your tongue?

Not sure what tomorrow will bring, likely sore muscles till I get used to being back in the traces.

Jane, I will try, they say rain is on the way and I really don't care for that!!

Good Evening Everyone and
Happy Thanksgiving Eve!

A belated Thank you to those
of you who wished me a
Happy 77th Birthday  !!  Yikes!!

I am so sorry to hear the sad
news in here about someone committing
suicide .    That is always a
tragedy for family and friends and
those of us left behind.

It was cold enough today to
snow just a bit.   No accumulation and
it was just letting us know that
Winter is just a month away,  even
if it feels like it has already
arrived.

I wish everyone a good Thanksgiving.
My family is not getting together
this year.   First ever that I can
remember, sadly.

But we all are doing our due diligence
to remain  Covid free.   That is the
least that we can do.

Enjoy your holiday !
