~ Simple Words ~

For those of us who share this "net",
And know the joy from friends we've met,
It just never ceases to amaze me
The caring we get from those we can't see.

We have come to know the words we send
Have the power to ease and troubles to mend,
With just simple words our lives we can share,
And we get the feeling that someone does care.

When our hearts are sad and filled with pain,
They "listen" to us and they never complain.
With just simple words they soothe our soul.
To take away our tears is their only goal.

And when it is days of happiness, we find,
They laugh and joke with words so kind.
With these dear friends we open our heart.
We can feel their touch though we're far apart.

Yes, just simple words with power so strong,
Simple words to cure whatever is wrong.
A never ending circle of friends, for sure.
As just simple words provide a love so pure.

Happy Turkey Day to All (except the turkeys)

Amy, Joy said she might be missing for a couple days... family stuff

Even my shoelaces are done in this morning. Won't go in to details, have food to take care of & cat messes to clean up. They sure like the turkey they've had so far!

Perfect, Bubble, are those YOUR words, great thinking.

Not my words, but a note I got on the mail.  I thought it was very appropriate here.

May Everyfriend have a Blessed Thanksgiving/Thursday

Joy

Good morning,

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE !!!

Yes, I have not been on the computer for a couple days, I was busy yesterday which was good for me.  I feel a lot better when I have something different to think about,

I had ordered a Thanksgiving dinner from a local restaurant and my DIL picked it up yesterday.  She is bringing it over a little later and we will divide it up between for the 4 of us.  We decided that we would all just stay at our own individual houses. It will work out better.  They all are out around other people and I am not, so I just felt better with us doing it that way.  I made  crab cakes yesterday, as my DIL is a vegetarian, so I wanted to make something she would eat.  The others are just my 2 sons and me.

I don't mind eating alone, as I do it all the time anyway. And, I usually read while I am eating. Also there are a couple Hallmark movies on tonight. And I like them

Tomorrow morning, I have to go out to get blood work done.  So, I will get out for a little while.  I usually stop at McDonalds for something to eat and then have to stop at the bank, which is right next to McDonalds, which works out good.

Hope everyone stays safe and has a great day.

Joy

Good afternoon.

I didn't sleep in  nor till the cows came home. We were up and running to the city. Kyles hearing aid wasn't "talking" to his other one and they needed to be synced plus to the gadget for the tv. This gadget is a wife saver..he can watch tv with no sounds on but hears it through the hearing aids...and I don't get my ears blasted with sound.
When we started out it was just a light rain and a wee bit of fog but coming home was another story.....hokey teddy bear was  it foggy...we could see about 200 feet in front of us and thankfully everyone drove with caution.

Shirley, thank you...Joy is here today :)

Joy, wise choice to stay  on your own. There will be a time when we can get together with our families and oh boy what a hug fest it will be!!

Better go put a stick of wood on the fire....not all that cold out but damp and it sneaks in.

Sandy, what a beautiful family!!! Plus a fantastic surprise..that was so thoughtful of them to do this for you!!!

Tarantino Wholesale Foods Distributor Recalls Ready-to-Eat Chicken Breast Products That May be Undercooked

Tarantino Wholesale Foods Distributor, a San Diego, Calif., establishment, is recalling approximately 1,115 pounds of ready-to-eat chicken breast products due to undercooking, resulting in the potential survival of bacterial pathogens in the products.

Shirley

Sandy, I will admit that before I scrolled down (on a laptop) to see your "scroll right"... I was wondering if the kids realized they hid the little "Great" behind that sign!   ;D  Sweet of them to do this for you.

I cooked my usual Thanksgiving foods, youngest son & significant other joined me & brought a ham he cooked & some pies she made. I enjoyed the conversation more than eating. The oldest son called to bring me several little tubs of the soups the girls made today so I begged him to bring bowls to take home some left overs. The others took all they wanted & still more than I had room for or wanted. Half the family was in St.Louis today.  Need to put stuff in the freezer so better move on.

It felt fairly warm when I took stuff out this afternoon, also almost no wind at all. I am ready to close my eyes but still foods to put away.

JaneS

Dinner with my daughter, her husband and her son was A1 today.  The best part was just being with family members!  Mickie got to go with me and they have a black Lab.  He followed Mickie around for about 10 minutes sniffing her butt and then decided she was OK.

We ate our meal and then sat outside around the fire and it was a beautiful day.  I don't remember a Thanksgiving this warm in ages, if ever!

I liked everything I read....Bubble's poetry, Sandy's family gathering, JOY and SHIRLEY's family contacts,  everyone recount of the day and AMY and KYLE getting safely home in the fog.  Now I'm beat and I think I'll go get in my jammies and watch some TV through my eyelids.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, no germ day tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

I was heading to bed & realized all cats not accounted for, Tom was in & wanted out, Callie was out & went off to HER garage and Tiger moseyed on in, waiting for me to go to bed so she can keep me warm or other way around.

Gloria, I don't think I thanked you for the card (if I did it won't hurt if I repeat myself?)..I thought it was especially pretty. And thank you very much! I already have jammies on & will lay on the bed so I can listen to TV, Tiger usually blocks my view.

These old bones couldn't make it to any early sale... remember those days???  Never=more

well I am late checking in. But we had a great get together with all that could get out and come. But all news was not good. My youngest brother has had a severe stroke and is pretty much Paralyzed and can not speak. and the wont let any of the Family in to see him , not even his son or daughters. Hope to see you all tomorrow.

Good morning ...

Sky looks funny.......36° out there and may get rain.

Working around home is in order. Lots to do that got left undone from road running. Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving yesterday and now the best is to come in the leftovers!

Forgot to tell you that on the way home yesterday something caught my eye on the passenger side. A red tailed hawk was flying right along beside us for a while before going into the woods. Beautiful bird!

Lloyd, I am sorry to read about your brother.Walking and his speech just may come back to him in time..

Better get ready to meet the day..

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning everyone. I had a wonderful Thanksgiving yesterday. My grandson know how to bake a turkey. He does like to cook and even makes pies from scratch. He was a teen when he started baking. We stayed lat er than we usually do and was asleep by 8 last night. My great grandson wore me out. He has so much energy he never stops. Had to laugh though after we ate and still sitting at the table talking he started whispering to his Mom and looking at me. He wanted me to go sit on the couch with him and was too shy to ask me himself. OK I went and sat on the couch and he cuddled next to me and I had my arm around him. He was quiet and watching TV. Fine, we both almost fell asleep but it was dessert time so back to the table for that. I have made better lemon meringue pies. I really like Yvette but a baker she isn't. The filling was too thick and so was the merengue. They all liked it but I was disappointed.
I ate so much I was uncomfortable. I did clean my plate and they were happy to see that. Told them I know how much I can eat and I just took a little of everything. My plate was anything but full like theirs.

Wednesday I did talk with daughter and talked to my oldest grandson. It  was good to see him. He is now 45 and the last time I saw him he was 20 or 21. Last time I went to San Diego. He will be leaving for home early today.

BUBBLE  love your words I read this morning, I hope you don't mind but I copied them and saved.

JOY  I want ed to stay home yesterday but my grandsopn insisted I go to his home. I know he would have felt hurt if I didn't go.

SANDY  great photo of your family.

AMY  my son drove hrough some groung fog in places coming home last night. It was so weird, I have driven through thick fog before but never ground fog like that.

SHIRLEY  my grans=dson gave me a goody bag to bring home but I have no klooked at what  is in it yet. Last night I did not want to look at more food. Now I am getting hungry wo will get to my oatmeal soon. I never did go shopping on this day, cannot stand the crowds.

LLOYD  sad when you cannot get into a hospital to see a family member but these days cannot be too carefull.

Know I did not say hello to everyone but really do not feel like being here this morning. I woke a 3 and nor  hours later I want breakfast. Yvette will be here at 10 today. When she leaves I can have a nice long nap, I hope.
Have a good day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It appears to be warmer today but I can't be sure.  My "stupid" phone did an update overnight and wanted a password this morning.  I gave it one and then it started talking some kind of phone language that I don't understand so I can't use it until someone "smart" comes by to show me how.

Our boinger just went off and I have to go feed Mickie and then she's going to want to go for a walk.  Those are two things I understand and I can still do them.

I hope you all have a relaxing, recovering day and eat lots of leftovers!  I'll be back....I hope!

I'll borrow the phrase and say that last night I was all in except my shoe strings.  And, to be honest, I couldn't even find my shoe strings!  But, it was a good day.  No cooking disasters.  I paced myself throughout the day with lots of rests in between doing things and it all came out fine.  Now, to deal with the left overs and find freezer room for this ham that we will enjoy for months to come.

I very nearly did what Kyle did the other day, Amy, and pulled my hearing aid off with my mask.  I caught it in time so was lucky not to lose it.  I got really frustrated with my doctor's visit.  She speaks softly normally and with a mask I couldn't understand most of what she was saying.  It was embarrassing to constantly ask her to repeat herself.  I ask people to speak more loudly and they try but after a bit they go back to their normal way and I'm floundering to understand them again.

I totally agree with the words in your poem, Bubble.  Everyone here is so kind and caring.  It is hard for someone who doesn't come here to understand the feeling of kinship that we share in S&F.

Must go get some breakfast.  Take care, All.

I forgot to mention something that happened yesterday that was kind of neat.  I was at my daughter's for dinner with just her husband and late 20s son.  Somehow, this forum came up in the conversation and I mentioned how special you all are to me and that I've only ever met two of you face to face.  And Grandson Kyle who was sitting beside me said "That's awesome!"  I looked around at him and he was smiling.  He meant it!  Then Cathy mentioned that my Canadian Friend has a son who's a truck driver and that he had stopped for a short visit in Lewisburg and that he and my daughter Cindy re friends on Facebook.  He loved that!

Good morning from a cloudy Interior. It's still dark beyond my balcony at 9:00 AM. I'm definitely looking forward to the winter solstice on December 21st so that we begin to regain light, and with more light comes warmer, thawing temperatures.

I had a nice holiday, visited on the phone with friends, others online, and ate far too much. Even my eggs, potatoes, and onions to my game mincemeat pie were local from the Interior and friends. I feel blessed. And also thankful I won't have to do more than assemble and reheat for some time!     ::)

Phyllis, I know what you mean as I left a former vet practice because she acted as if it was frustrating for her to have to repeat herself! Even after my telling her more than once that I couldn't hear or understand her soft mumbles. It was also why I retired early as I was having issues hearing customers with softer voices, mumblers, Southerners, and those who turned away while speaking.

Jane, meeting online friends is wonderful! I've met Johann and Windell and of course Karren before she moved south. And I just missed meeting MaryAnn when she came thru Fairbanks as I couldn't get off work and she had time constraints.

Gloria and others, having family close is a gift to cherish. I haven't seen anyone from my immediate family since 2000 and most not since the early nineties.  Without photos and email, I'd never know them.

Amy

Patricia!! Will bring you a cake if they throw you in the slammer  :2funny:

Day disappeared quick! Managed to get some done with a lot more hollering to be done. All in good time.

Jane, as you know you are family now!

Phyliss, we were told that a lot of people are missing their hearing aids. I make sure now that Kyle has both when he takes off his mask.

When I go to say something to Kyle I will touch his arm or stand in front of him so he knows I am not just back ground noise. :)

I asked Frankie something by text the other day and she answered "I already told "such and so". Then she added "Maybe I forgot to make sure you heard me".  I said, "Maybe you forgot to yell".  She answered, "Yeah, I bet I did".  When my kids come over, before the sit down, they ask which is my good ear and they sit on that side of me.

Today was good and bad.  I'm getting my boxes ready for Oklahoma and I can't find my gift for my ggdaughter, Emma.  I've been through everything twice and I can't even go get another one because I made it and the there's no time to make another one.  I got a lot of other stuff done while I was looking for it but I still haven't found it!

And I'm beat right down to my sox!  I'm going to hit the haystack and hope it comes to me in a dream where it is!

It doesn't just surprise others that we are all such good friends.  It never ceases to amaze me.  And I'll be forever grateful that my son was listening when I said I'd like to use my computer for something other than playing games.  And close to the same time, I mentioned to my daughter that I'd seen something about a website called "Senior Net" and it sounded really interesting.  They got together and got me on the internet for Christmas that year and I've been addicted to this place and all the friends I've made here ever since!

I hope you all had a good day today and that you have an even better one tomorrow.

And we are FAMILY. At least in this family we don't have to wear masks & doesn't matter how close we sit to the computer. I was alarmed at all the new Christmas decorations on this page, afraid of changes but think Michael has been hard at work and we're okay!?  Maybe?  Thank you, Michael, hope all is well in your world....I do see the "credits" at the bottom of this page but no clue what they mean...

Lloyd, sorry to read about your brother. So sad that nobody can visit the sick these days, but the danger is real that anyone can carry in the virus germs without even knowing.

Back to bed for me, not sure why I've been so sleepy all day, but am starting to feel more like the old me.  I walked down to the river today and discovered the beaver has munched off a number of trees since I went down a couple days ago. Wish I could get a photo of it.

Beautiful dreams and God Bless to all.... Love you, Shirley
