Whoops, too late...good morning Lloyd. I am no help on the air fryer but others in here may help you.

Laundry today and hope the nasty weather doesn't come this way. Have a lot of jobs that need done and will tackle them one by one and hope to shorten the list!

Hope everyone has a great day and stays safe please.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I realized when I was in bad last night that I had not been in to say "Good Night".  I was really tired and my eyes were bothering me again.  So here I am hoping for a better day today.

All the presents I have are wrapped and ready.  A load of laundry is in the washer and another one in the dryer.  Cathy is doing the last of my shopping today.  And cookies are on the agenda today.  Plus at least one more load of laundry!  Sounds like another busy day!  Of course, that's only if all that stuff gets done!

AMY, did you do Christmas early with David because he has to be on the road over Christmas?  I hope not!

MYCHEAL, definitely words to think about!!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

Good morning everyone, down to 15 now. Coldest so far this winter. Yes I know i t is not  really winter yet but sure feels like it, so what's a couple of days? The sun is shining but it will not warm up much wi th the blanket of snow covering everything. Not much traffic so the snow is still white and not dirty.

JANE  do you ever check your  personal mail he re in  the SS? I do at  t imes but  no t of ten. Then surpr ised when I have a message the re.

I better go get dressed, my son will be here soon. I woke late this morning and I dislike doing that. Makes the day too short with daylight at this time of year.

Have a good day everyone and s tay safe.

Wise words, Mychael.  I wish everyone would realize that patience now will bring great rewards later on.  Merry Christmas to you.

I got this Cuisinart, Lloyd.  It does lots of things including air frying.  I like it well enough after I learned that the temperature ran much hotter than the setting showed so have to set it about 50-60 degrees cooler than a recipe calls for.  I wish I had spent a little bit more and gotten the Cuisinart digital oven but I am reasonable satisfied.  Just a word of caution....it's big and takes up a lot of counter space.

Good morning.  I have been missing for a couple days.  Just being very lazy. But, I did want to check in and say "HELLO".  We got a lot of snow on Wed. into THurs. and it is still a lot on the ground.  Since it is so cold, it will be around for a while.

Sounds like everyone is in the Christmas spirit and getting a lot of things finished up.  My day will be very different. I am just not comfortable having family come in.  They all are out among other people every day, and I just don't feel comfortable having them come in.  We will get something for dinner and each one will eat in their own place.  I feel safer that way.

Hopefully, we will all soon be able to get the vaccine and then maybe it will be safer to be able to get together,  I am sure there will be lots of wonderful celebrations when this mess is all over with.

Have a safe day.

Jane, all we did was exchange gifts. Since there were edibles in the gift we did enjoy opening  when home. He will have one more  run then he is home for Christmas.

Gloria I hope your SIL feels better soon and can be released from the hospital.

Bubble, thank you, have this playing in the back ground

Laundry is just about done and will do a bit of baking.

Amy Thanks, Lot of different prices and sizes. I need to get more education before I leap, and maybe do not need one. I best keep my eye on shop tools, and not to much of them I am pretty well equipped there also. I have replaced most all the tools that were stolen. I put a security camera in the shop, and have one to install where it will take a picture of everyone that comes on the place; I think I will bid you all good night and sweet dreams now for the day.

It was a "brrrr" cooold day in this town.  When I got up it was 7º and it never made it above 20 all day!  We stayed in a lot and only went out when the doggies had to go and to get the mail!

I have everything wrapped and ready to go!  Now tomorrow I am GOING to make the sand tart cookies and then I'm ready.  We're having Christmas Eve supper and Christmas Day dinner at Cathy's and Christmas Morning brunch here at my house.  Christy will be here and we'll do it together.

Also, tomorrow we have a Christmas Communion distribution in the Church parking lot and we've decided to combine it with the handing out of my fruit cake orders.  One more memory for my Mother.  So I will be there by 12:30 and stay until all the fruitcake except one has been picked up.  That one will be picked up at my house on Monday when his daughter is finished work.  He is in a retirement home and is staying put but she works at the hospital and will stop by on her way home and then deliver it to him.  He and his wife have been long time friends of mine and since she's gone he needs the memories of past sharing.

So things are moving along!  Also, Franki got home late and has to be to work early tomorrow so Cooper is spending the night with us.  He's such a good boy that sometimes I don't even know I have an extra doggie in the house.

I'm going to head for the haystack early tonight because tomorrow will be a busy one.  So I wish you all a peaceful night sleep and a happy, healthy, germ-free tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Quick note:  My Grandson-in-law in Houston is down with pneumonia.  He has been tested for covid and doesn't have it but he could use some prayers when you have a minute!  Thanks!

Shirley

Quick good night to all. I've decided that I will just go to church when nobody else is there and visit with God a few minutes. The new church is finished so decorations this year will be awesome. I miss going to Mass but realize that bout with covid took the starch out of this old lady and I don't want to catch anything else!

I felt the earthquakes today, 3 of them. I happened to be barefoot & sitting with both feet flat on the floor. First one felt like a heavy truck out front, few minutes later another that shook the house pretty good. Poor Tom had been sleeping outside & came to the door with a frightened look on his face & about that time the 3rd  one shook. No damage around here, I'm sure.... pretty sure. We've had quite a few since Thanksgiving, just the earth settling around the world. Glad we don't get the big ones!

And now to bed. I have not been getting enough sleep at night so naps wreck my day and I have lots to do tomorrow!  Sweet dreams and God Bless. I can't believe next week this day Christmas will be over. What a strange year.  :christmastree:

CallieOK

Shirley,  I didn't hear anything about earthquakes in your area! what time did they happen?  Family came home today but I don't know what time they would have been coming by Wichita. Emily and Ellen came back through Tulsa  so weren't on "your" route.

Commencement went well but the live video was awful!  The cameraperson didn't know what he/she was doing and it was impossible to hear what the speakers were saying because they weren't wearing microphones and the one on the stand was too far away. I did see Emily walk across the stage but did not see her presented with her hood.

Weather here is supposed to be lovely all week.  Not sure what Christmas plans are, yet but I'm just "going with the flow" and waiting for instructions.  :smitten:

Prayers for all those who are experiencing health issues - Covid and otherwise.  Going to be a long winter, I'm afraid.

Sleep well, Everyfriend, and have pleasant dreams.

Amy

Good morning everyone...

We will be dealing with snow this morning ,don't think there is enough to start the snow blower as the shovels should do it. Maybe 2 inches of snow, nothing near the pile that Jane got! We are to get more today but will worry about that later.

Baking was done but not was intended cornbread muffins were made and we really enjoyed them, so that recipe is a keeper.

Shirley , poor animal don't understand all that shaking going on. I have felt one quakes here and that was enough.

Jane prayers for your GIL that he recovers quick!! Pneumonia is a nasty deal, just ask Kyle! Now he gets the pneumonia shot.

Better start the day...

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm all set up for the sand tarts this morning.  I hope to have them finished before I have to get ready for the fruit cake delivery.

AMY and SHIRLEY, thanks for the prayers for Clint!  He'd thank you too if he could.  Natalie (my granddaughter) promised to keep me informed.

I better get started NOW!  I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

I mentioned over in "What's For Dinner" that I had a tale about my efforts at getting an Instant Pot.

So, back in September, Target had a sale on the "CrockPot Express Crock Multi-Cooker".  It is advertised as pressure cooker, slow cooker, brown & saute, and steam.
I put it in the back of my SUV, and it languished there for 3 or 4 months.  My daughter didn't want it, I was unsure if I was ready for something so high-tech, so left it unopened in the box.  Finally, I brought it in and parked it in an open spot.  I was doing some research on IP's and also this Crock Express.  Was just about ready to open the box, when I get an  Email from Sunbeam stating that this particular appliance was being recalled, I forget how many are involved. Called Target, and they said they could not take it back as they no longer stocked that item.  Now I have to call Sunbeam and see what they are planning to do about it.  I understand that some of these models have a lid that accidentally opens, can and has burned several folks, with many more without injuries, just spraying steam I guess.  A hazard. I may just keep on lovin' my regular, ordinary CrockPot as it does the job it's supposed to do.  I have a rice cooker, so don't need that.

So, thereby hangs the tale of my almost-journey into the land of the InstantPot.

Stay tuned for the next exciting chapter!

Amy

That snow was about it, then came the mist then  more rain. Bread is cooling on the racks and will deliver that tomorrow.
Tome, I really like the Instant Pot. Liked it so much I bought a second one when they came on sale.  Make yogurt in one and everyone gets to enjoy it all. Dogs like it yogurt and the whey plus use whey in baking.

I have a magpie's love of everything bright and shiny and not that much available counter space. I did buy an Instapot right when they first came out and rarely use it. I also rarely use my convertible Microwave. I have slow-cookers in three sizes.

I now use my large manual wok, my largest slow cooker, and my cast iron 12" skillet. I have a large multi gadgety, convention bake toaster oven that was used frequently in the past and now for toast. I have a cupboard full of convenient cooking stuff such as a Fry Daddy, rice cooker, and yougart maker that are getting dusty, along with my Instpot.

I used to use all this stuff regularly when I was working and had no time, but now I use my stovetop and oven and the before mentioned items.  I'm here all day, so I have more than enough time to cook. I really like my wok; I cut pieces into small uniform bits, spray on a slight bit of oil and toss quickly over high heat. Chopping vegetables, onions, squash, carrots, potatoes, and peppers with a knife is therapeutic, and spices are little gems.

Game meat that doesn't disappear into multi cups of grease and organics that are a pleasure are well, a pleasure to cook with and consume. Hey, I live alone during a pandemic, and I'm flushed with a discovery of food not making me sick or dead. So I get a bit excited...

Tomereader1

Gee, Patricia19, you have one of everything!  I have the old crock pot, my rice cooker, a wok which I have never used.  Don't have cast iron skillet, think I gave those to my daughter.  Do have a cast iron corn-stick maker.  Know it must have another name, but I've been changing and washing linens, and am tired and mind is not hitting on all 6 cylinders!  I recently bought me a small hand mixer (remember the tale of the mixer on the top shelf that I'm not allowed to stand on a ladder to reach?) Of course, I have a Black&Decker regular brew coffee pot, a Keurig pod coffee pot (gift from daughter), a Mr. Coffee Tea Maker which I love to use during the summertime to make iced tea.  There's a salad spinner, and somewhere (?) a brand new Mandoline slicer, which I thought I hadto have, but have never used.  I do like to cook, but for just one person, it gets to be a  real chore and the spirit must move me before I attempt some things.  I did the beef/broccoli yesterday, which was actually fun!  And tasty, might I add?  I am sure there are other "non-essentials" hiding in cabinets.  Funny how we just seem to "collect" things for the kitchen and the appliance manufacturers love us for it!
Beautiful sunshiny day here, approaching 5:00 PM; the temp is a little brisk
(for me).  But not much wind.  I think I have expounded on this subject quite enough.  Think I hear the dryer buzzing anyway, with a King-Size mattress pad needing re-installed.
Good health, good spirits and hopefully, good weather for all of you. StaySafe.

Tome, I do have too much. Even after the decluttering, I did in 2016 when I gave away all or most of my old kitchen family gear. And decided to buy a small amount of good cookware and not the cheap stuff since I lived alone for the first time.

Before retirement, I worked long hours and took two buses twice a day, and no energy for much else. That's how I got into meal prep and suddenly needed all the accompanying gear. It did save my sanity, and I could come home, pop a dish into the microwave or serve from a slow cooker to my waiting plate before falling exhausted into bed for a brief respite.

I get swayed too easily by kitchenware, and I think I become my fantasy having it altogether alter ego when ordering something other than the one I actually am. We won't even discuss my number of cookbooks.

However, I am becoming sensible and decluttering again, even if I have to store everything until I can actually donate it somewhere else. I'm in a new stage where I have to be realistic in eating right and not getting into that magpie mindset of getting all new gear to go with my transition.

Tomereader1

No, better not to discuss the number of cookbooks.  I have quite a few, probably less than 50, maybe only 25.  However, Food magazines became my replacement for cookbooks, and I have a plethora of those:  Eating Well, All Recipes, Rachel Ray (+her cookbooks), Diabetic Living (tho' I'm not diabetic, but they have some really wonderful recipes that anyone should like), Taste of Home. When a new issue comes in the mail, I sit on the couch and read through, turning down page corners, drooling and getting hungrier by the page.  LOL!

patricia19

#83
I understand exactly where you're coming from, except I had the vegetarian where you had the diabetic recipes, altho I ended my mail subscriptions and started my Kindle subscriptions.  :-[    ::)

Now I'm in the process of canceling those subscriptions. I cannot eat many foods or use many recipes because of my allergies, so I'm learning an entirely new way of eating, cooking, and living.

I've become a one-trick pony with my allergies. I need to find something else to talk about.

JaneS

Interesting discussion between TOMEREADER and PATRICIA.  I'm also a recipe-a-holic!  But I print mine from the internet now.  I told my daughter recently that if I only made one printed recipe a day for the rest of my life, I'd have to live to be 167!  And I keep printing more!  In my defense, I do make a lot of the things I print!

Today was a pretty productive day for me!  I got the Sand Tart cutout cookies made and tasted!  They're Goooood!  I also got all the fruit cakes delivered to church members and heard some pretty nice comments about it!

I took both doggies for 2 nice walks and met some very nice people along the way.

I got my TV fixed so I can use it again and it didn't cost me a penny.  My son is the usual fixer but I didn't even tell him it needed fixing because he's so busy and so tired when his day is over.  But my daughter asked him for information and she came by and fixed me up and left a note with directions while I was delivering the fruit cakes.

In between, I tried to clean up a few corners and the cookie cutters are still sitting there getting dry before they go back in their plastic bag for another year.  Funny, I think one of those cutter was actually my mother's and at least four of them have been around since my kids were little!  When I told my OK daughter that's what I was doing today she said, "My fav was always the cinnamon reindeer".  I answered "Mine too".

I think I will bid you all a "Good Night".  It's getting on toward that time and I plan to go early again tonight.  I seem to sleep better when I get there early.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, germ-free tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

I just went to watch your Happy Cat Video, PATRICIA, and guess what happened to my post?  When will I EVER learn?

Too late to try to rewrite but I did want to say HELLO and see what you all have been up to.

MYCHAEL, I really enjoyed your thoughtful words and appreciate you sharing them here.  My wish is that we all can enjoy a safe and healthy year ahead.

GLORIA, I am sorry to read that your son-in-law has Covid.  I do hope he is getting better and will be released from the hospital soon.

JANE, also sorry your grandson-in-law has pneumonia.  Sure hope he feels much better soon.

AMY, happy to read that you got to spend time with David. I do hope his next haul will go well and then he will be home for Christmas.  I really enjoyed the Big Rig Parade.  Very nice.

TOMREADER, I can you even believe what happened regarding the instapot!   After you wait that long to even open it and then just before you do???  Shame you can not just return it.  I hope it all works out for you.

SHIRLEY, crazy that you felt the earthquake.  Not surprised about Tom....animals are so in tune to what is going on.

I am going to say goodnight before I do some stupid again and lose this.

Good night and pleasant dreams to all.

No new snow!!! :happydance:  Delivering gifts this morning  then taking Kyle  in town for his appointment in the afternoon. In the mean time it is chase dust bunnies.

Patricia, did you see the size of the paws on the cubs? Loved the scene of the cub cuddled up in Dads paws. Thank you for sharing.

Jane, I am also another one that collects cookbooks and prints recipes off the internet and put them in binders. Yet, I will always fall back on my old recipes.

Gloria , hope all is well your way.

Shirley, where are you??

Better get a move on here.

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

Good Morning Everfriend!  This is going to be a shortie because I've decided that I'm going to call WM and try to make an appointment to get my hair cut.  It's beginning to drive me nutty!

Also have to get started on today's chores!  If Cooper arrives hungry, I don't have enough food for two doggies so that's first on the agenda.  I have to get doggie food made!

Next is change the beds and wash the sheets...or vice versa!  I should have put a load of laundry in before I sat down here.  And I'm thinking of a quick trip to Davy's today or tomorrow.  I'm beginning to feel ike the White Rabbit in Alice in Wonderland...."no time to say Hello/Goodbye, I'm late, I'm Late, I'm Late!  Lots to do today!

Good morning everyone, seems like I wake later almost every day. Went to bed at 11 and woke at 9:40 this morning, yesterday 9:30. If this keeps up Yvette will be here to wake me. Old age is really taking over, with the nap I need every day on top of all the sleep at night.

PHYLLIS  I have a toast er oven and a microwave and no room for anything else. Wish I did.

JOY  my CNA is on the list for the vaccine  because she works with the elderly, they are out doing errands and shopping for groceries for their clients then at the end of the day they go home to their families.

BUBBLE  I can see wha t I will be listening to for a couple of hours . Thank you.

AMY SIL  is in a room now and eating and starting to feel better. He is hopeing to go home today or tomorrow. You know I am worried about both of them,  my daughter being alone way out where they live and my SIL in the hospital. They sure could use some prayers.

JANE  prayers for your grandson in-law the he recovers fas t and home for Christmas.

I better cut this short and get ready for Yvet te. She gets here at noon and tha is coming fas t. I know I am slow reading and typing.

Have a good day and s tay safe.
