Thanks everyone for the "explanation" but what was said to me almost made me leave the website permanently.  If it hadn't been for another contacting me personally, I probably wouldn't be here.  To me NB&T isn't another room.  It's a different house.  I do sometimes go and read just to to see who's there but I can't bring myself to post.

I love this place and almost everyone I've "met" here I'd like to meet in person.  That other person isn't even around anymore and I should be able to shake that feeling but I haven't been able to do that. Maybe I need to add it to my prayers.  I never thought of that until just now!

We had sleet and freezing rain over night and into the morning but it didn't last.  And the roads were clear before noon.

I got a lot done but you can't really see it.  All the Christmas decorations are sitting on the dining room table and I need to bring in the tubs that they go in and get out the regular stuff and put away the Christmas stuff.  I also have to pick apart the chicken and freeze it and maybe make some chicken salad for lunch tomorrow.

Right now, I have to hit the haystack! I sure hope it's full of zzzzs because I'm tired! I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, germ-free tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one.

I clicked on it and it came bac and I could type here to you. I am going to post this and go back and re delete it and hope this stays. then I am going and take my insulin shot and go to bed. I will try to reamer to check in the morning and see if it is ok, if not I will re delete it. and see if Nicole can fix it after she gets home from school. she has to go work at school. I do not know if she has to teach at school or on line. the Virus you know still has things messed up. we have to keep praying god helps got it fixed. and it is really serous. our youngest sons wife's mother died with it and she was in hospital with panamoa and cough it and died.

Good morning...

This IS a good morning as there is no snow to play with.   A day of rest here, other than meeting friends and giving them the groceries I picked up for them nothing else is on the agenda.

Jane, thankfully your sleet did not last long.

Patricia, loved your quote. I think now we must have this summer heat within to get through all this.

Phyllis , here the rain freezes and may cause you to have moves that is envious of any break dancer  ;D

Lloyd, I have emailed Bubble about your post and she will help you.

I am sitting here at my desk ,listening to the deep breathing of Jesse..life of a dog.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  This will be short because it's almost time for the boinger and that means breakfast in dog talk.  It's supposed to be snowing right now and turning to sleet in about an hour.  WINTER is HERE!!!

I hope you all have a good day....better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!  I'll be back later.  After breakfast, we're considering a walk if it's not doing too much out there.

good Morning everyone, well we got a little more snow yesterday, not much but still very cold and no sun. I drove the car down to get the mail yesterday. the road is up hill and down at the intersection of our drive. so I had to back way up to the next up hill to get enough speed to get turned in our drive. and then stop and walk across to the mail box and get the Mail. we are not going out today and are  going to tune the TV into TV and listen and watch the preacher. and tomorrow I will ride my grislier four Wheler to the mail box. Have a good day see you all later.

I deleted your email address, Lloyd.  Amy is right...it isn't a good idea to post your email address in a public forum.

Hope that is OK with you, Bubble.  I think you have enough to do keeping us going  here in S&F so I am more than happy to help with the small stuff.

Regarding "Who Is It?", I haven't a clue.....hope somebody will let us know soon.

More rain last night...a little over an inch here.  Even David just said he is getting really tired of it.

Take care, All

Good morning everyone, slept late again and feel awake, no nap  this morning. Another gray day here but it is that time of year.
rather see i t snow though. That is prettier.

SHIRLEY  the Hempvana-no more than 3 times a day but use it every day. Even the  5 times a week I ge t it on my back has helped so much. Do you own the bank to the river? If so tell them it is provate  property and stay off. If it is publick you cannot complain. As far as you getting on that tube about time you only do that if someone is with you. We sure do not want to hear you are in the hospital for getting hurt.

LLOYD  great when someone in  the family can help wi th comput ers. I am luvky to have my grandson. That is what he studied in college.

AMY  I used the ice melt pelle ts and it never hurt the walk or  the near by garden. That  is what the maintenance man here uses. Supposed to start snowing around 5 late afternoon and snow all night. Will see how close the guessers are this time.

PATRICIA  it was Mare in Bis' Busy that got me to stay in SN. It was Bunnie that got me interested in PSP. I miss it but cannot sit long enough to do anything is PSP anymore.

JANE  I was  ready  to qui t SN when Mare emailed me and invited me to the nest. No ma tter where I went and posted no one bot hered  to even say hello. Sure glad Mare emailed me, I would be lost without my cyber family. I will have to wait till Yvette is here tomorrow to get the little decorations I put out  to get put away. I cannot reach the shelf they go on anymore.

PHYLLIS  you used to be pretty helpful before, glad you can still help when needed.

Have a good day and st ay safe.

We have large, wet snowflakes and they're laying pretty good.  It's not supposed to stop until sometime tonight but it could change to sleet and freezing rain later.  I'd rather it would just snow!

Jane, will do!

From Jennifer Weeks, Environment + Energy Editor and The Conversation's newsletter, "The biggest environment and energy stories of 2020 remind me of a line from "Pogo," the classic comic strip that ran from 1948 to 1975: "We have met the enemy, and he is us."

Scientists widely agree that COVID-19, like HIV and Ebola before it, emerged from the global trade in wild animals. Greenhouse gas emissions from human activities heated the Arctic to its warmest level in 3 million years. Even Asian giant hornets, which seemed like something out of science fiction, probably were transported to North America in a shipping container.

What gives me hope in the face of news like this is work by researchers nationwide to understand our planet's intricate systems and find ways to live on it more lightly. One of the readers' favorite stories from 2020 described how scientists trapped bacteria to analyze cloud formation around Antarctica. I was equally impressed by scientists who have spent a decade mapping how oil from the 2010 Deepwater Horizon spill permeated the Gulf of Mexico. And if you're starting to wonder whether there was any pure good news about the environment this year, I recommend our article explaining how urban composting can reduce waste, slow climate change, and improve our soil – all starting with food scraps."

Prayers heading Mavis's way...

Thank you for the prayers for Mavis. I'll let you know when her test comes back.  She's a retired registered nurse and has been doing home care but none of her patients have this disease.  She has a bad cold and she and her dr. agreed it was a good idea to do the test.

Patricia, I never throw food away but offer it to critters "in the wild" that are hungry because we've invaded their hunting ground. Still, composting is a great idea, one that my parents practiced all my life. I have neighbors that are diligent about it but we never did. To be honest, we don't have a lot of ground space to do it.

Gloria, the land going down to the river is "right of way" and belongs to the Park Department, Fish & Game.... As land was developed to the west of downtown Wichita, people did have control of the river bank. Some built docks that became eye sores when flooding damaged & hazards to people boating on the river. City decided to keep control of the land at that point and since rivers are noted for changing all the time, they allowed plenty of land designated as "Park Department". BUT, we do pay higher taxes to be on the river and I've spent 31 years cleaning that path down to the water, planting flowers & trees and all of the other property owners along here have the right to do the same. Instead, they just enjoy MY labors.

I've always invited the walkers to come see MY fish that come when I whistle.... My cats won't go down if anyone else is in sight so I am a little protective of their rights, as well. Nearly every house now has fences around their property but both ends of this stretch of houses is open. We have a park on the east end and the last house to the west sits by the bridge & short stretch of another park that ends at the dam. The dam was built to save downtown Wichita from the Arkansas River flooding. We don't see too many strangers on this side of the river, but when we first moved here it was a problem. There is a bike/walking path on the other side so really no excuse for anyone but property owners on this side. Lots of people using that bike path all the time.

I remember Mare & was thinking about her the other day. What ever happened to her? Who was the other lady that was "in the group" that had the gr-daughter/runner?  We've had so many neat people pass through our lives because of SeniorNet and the ones that bailed us out when that folded. Many thanks to all that help keep us together, God Bless and watch over you!

Jane, thoughts & prayers for your neighbor/friend.

I never forget on Jan.3.... back in 1944, my pet chicken, Maggie, died. My brother stayed home from school with me and we created a plaster of paris wall plaque with her name with alphabet soup letters. He helped himself to my sister's red nail polish to paint the name, don't think she ever knew it, but I was afraid she'd find out & kill me!!! Maggie was well known since she joined any group I played with during those years. She was allowed to go to school with me a few times, but if I forgot to lock her up she would follow & I had to take her home every morning. The principal at that time moved on to the high school & he remained my buddy until graduation, always introduced me as "Maggie's friend". When Maggie had permission to go to school she rode in the wicker doll buggy so the teachers could push her around. Looking back, I was a little strange even back then!  Age didn't make me any different!  ;)

So much for the life & times of Shirley..........

Shirley you and I fiend too Many things to do, but you could get a piece of concrete wire and role it into a circle about 2-3 feet in dimeter, and three steel post, get a little help drive them in the ground to the little thing that keeps them from turning, fasten the wire about 8" off of the ground. gather all your yard clippings and food scraps , put it in it, that will make good compost and not take up too much space or bad smell either . good to put around your flowers and a  tomato plant or two, they will give you fresh tomatoes to eat early. you can start some of them any time. get seeds out of your faveort tasting one. get tow paper towel's leave them together. lay the seeds on one and fold them at the tare line. keep them damp not too wet. when they get about two three inches tall transfer them to little paper cups. in garden soil in them. set them in a east window. will be worth your time. we plant two plants in our flowerbed out front . good Night and sweet dreams.

Good morning..

Weather forecast is no snow at all this week...we shall see.

If all goes well today  we will take my sister her birthday gift but a lot depends on getting the gift. If not today then a phone call to her and we will go tomorrow.

Shirley, I wouldn't use the word strange but  would use unique. I do the same with food, either the birds or a fox will get the unwanted food here. When crow is here in the summer he will remind me to put his breakfast out in the morning.

Jane, hope Mavis gets her results soon. Sometimes the waiting is worse that the problem!

Lloyd, fresh tomatoes would taste darn good right about now. The store bought ones have little flavour in them.

Patricia, we are our own worst enemy but seldom learn from it.

Gloria, I don't mind grey days when driving as the sun can poke the eyes right out of you.

Joy, hope all is well with you..

Phyllis, does your area need the rain? Last summer was so dry here, the trees were whistling for the dogs to come by.

Better  get ready for the day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

OOPS!!!  It looks like I forgot to say "Good Night" last night.  So...Good Night and Good Morning.  We got a total of about three inches of wet, heavy snow and the plow did it's usual and didn't clear the last of it from blocking my driveway.  When I first moved here, the plow guy was careful to leave the MOUND at the end of the road clear of my driveway but this guy isn't so careful!  I may have to call the Township Office!

Our boinger just went off and Cooper is due.  When he comes this early, it's usually without breakfast so I think I'll wait a few minutes until he shows up and they can eat together.

I wish you all a good day....better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

Good morning everyone, was snowing-big beautiful flakes when I went to bed last night. Made me want to sit at the window and just wa tch it. Went to bed instead. Was so disappointed when I looked out, only a couple of inches. I did not even hear Paul-maintenance- plow the walks or the plow either. I keep saying when I sleep I don't hear anything. Guess that is what is meant by "dead to the world"?
Think I will call Staples t oday and ask it they have a keyboard and mouse compatable with this HP. Both are driving me away from the comput er.

JANE  hope you don't get the freezing rain. That is bad for anyone. Oh I am sorry about y our neighbor. My SIL lost about 25 pounds the week he was in the hospital. Daughter said mostly muscle. He has to build that up again and also get his breathing back to normal. When the day is nice they go outside and walk around the yard till he tires. When we are on Skype I see him walking around in t he house.

PATRICIA  aft er WW2 when we started impor ting i tems again from Japan we had a lo t of Japanese beetles that denuded  trees. My FIL bouoght some traps when they were invent ed and he would cap ture hundreds of them every day.  They aren't seen aroung here now. Wish they could capture the covid virus like that and destroy it.

SHIRLEY  tha t was Mare whose grand daught er was a runner. Mare and I kept in contact for a long time but that  petered out after a few years. Who said you were/are weird? You are just normal to me. My MIL had a pet pig that at times followed her to school. That was in Nova Scotia.

LLOYD  I used to st art my tomato plants from seed. I found years ago an eas t window is the best for house plants. Now I have sout west windows so cannot have plant s in t he window but if I keep  them at least 18 inches away from the windos they do not ge t the strong sun.

AMY  st ore tomatoes may look like  toma toes but sure do no t tast e like them. When I get the urse for a  tomat o I get tomatoes on the vine, the do taste a little like one. When I was working it seemid I drove into the sun going to work and coming home. I finally got a pair of tinted glasses and that worked better.

Have a good day and stay safe.

No trees whistling for dogs around here, Amy.   ;D  I looked it up...we are just a smidge under 8 inches above normal for the year (2020).  At least, it isn't raining today...yet.

My friend, Mavis has tested positive for covid and has been taken back to the ER for treatment.  She was having trouble breathing and had all the effects of a bad cold.  Please say and extra prayer for her.  She's such a good, hard working person!  She is also a visiting nurse and was in line for the vaccine for that and for her age!

My sincere sympathy to Mavis, Jane.... and I'm sorry she already went to the ER/hospital. My being at home kept me moving (taking care of cats & me). A few nights of doubts, if I was smart but the son that was on call in case I needed oxygen assured me he'd "give me a ride to remember in his Mustang!" Haha.... another thing to keep me from yelling "uncle".  Being a nurse the other nurses will probably take extra special care of her. Prayers & thoughts will continue.

I have been on a roll this morning, got my driver's license taken care of (boy, look like death warmed over with the white hair that blends into the white back drop)... Almost didn't pass the eye exam wearing old glasses so made an appointment to get eyes tested again & hope for a better fit. Have CDs rolling over & not going to lock them up so arranged to dump into a money market account in hopes of better rates soon. I'm shocked the day is nearly done & I'm still in my "go out" clothes so thinking about a drive thru for food for supper. I'm tired of my cooking.

Gloria, who was the other gal... one's husband's name was Frank, I think... I wasn't sure who's gr-daughter was the runner. Was interesting to read about. The two talked about pain patches & which worked best. I was interested because Cas used various types of pain relief. Glad your son in law is working on the muscles... I may never get mine back at this age but pushing more every day. Then I hit a melt down & nearly sleep around the clock. Don't like to brag, but I am a very good sleeper!!!  Maybe it helps to be lazy?

I expect the hill is muddy with snow melt so probably slippery. A day or two & it will dry out since there's only a few inches of dirt & all sand below. I have some bread to take down & will take the camera with me, just in case a critter shows up. Need to bring up a bucket of sand for the driveway...

Amy, I will hold off on ordering the ice melt. Once I waltzed with the snow blower sun came out next day & driveway totally dry. I discovered a small bag of snow melt when moving stuff around to get the snow blower back in.

I'm off to check out the Who Was... I couldn't come up with even a decent guess! Try again if you will, Bubble, I do enjoy the challenge.

Now the day is over,
Night is drawing nigh,
Shadows of the evening
Steal across the sky!

I missed singing that old camp song tonight.  I didn't see "night drawing nigh" or the "shadows of the evening".  Funny what brings back the memories of the old camp songs.

I mooched the doggies around a bit tonight so I could stretch out on the couch and that was the end of my eyesight!  I corked off almost immediately.  I was really tired tonight.  Got lots done and a good start on the storage room.  Tomorrow the Wise Men will arrive at the stable and then Wednesday, they can get packed up for another year.  Tomorrow, I'm bringing out the two Christmas storage tubs and taking the regular stuff out of them and packing up all the Christmas stuff.  I have one tub of Christmas tree ornaments that I can't get rid of and Cathy and I have decided that when Cindy and Ali are visiting from OK next summer, I'll bring it out for everyone to root through and take what they remember from the old trees and then I'll chuck the rest of it....if I can bring myself to do that!

I have all the stuff packed up for the recycling for this coming Saturday and my shopping list started for the weekend.  I packed up all the Christmas wrapping stuff and the candy making stuff and packed that all away.  Switched around some shelves in the the storage room and took down the extra table for wrapping etc.  It looks almost empty in there.

Almost forgot, I also shoveled most of the melting slushy stuff off the driveway because Cathy said she was coming after work and do it and I did't want her to have to do that.

Thank you all for the prayers for my friend, Mavis.  She called me tonight to tell me that they are keeping her at the hospital because her cold isn't just a cold.  It'd pneumonia.  This doesn't sound good!  Please keep her in your prayers.

Now I'm off to the haystack and I think it must be loaded with zzzzzs because I think they are coming down the hall after me!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, germ-free tomorrow. And may God bless us, every one.

Good morning...

Another lovely day in the making, I really enjoy these warmer temps and it is 26° at the moment. The 10 -20 below will likely find it way here in time.

Yesterday was the perfect day for touring, we did stop at the cheese factory and gleaned more cheese. Then onto my sisters but had ( according to Kyle) go through the choco factory area to get there.  The store was closed (which I had tried to tell him) as it is not essential. Try telling a chocolate lover that it is not essential!!

Stopped at my sisters for a brief moment to give her her gift then tootled on home. All in all a good day, perfect weather and no sun in our eyes. We did see an owl sitting on a wire and that was the only critter we saw.

Neighbour came over and cleaned both chimneys for us
not a lot came out just dry very fine powder so we are good to go for a while now.

Jane, Mavis is in the best place at the moment and she will get good care from her fellow nurses. Prayers for a speedy recovery for her.

Shirley, I had to chuckle at your ride to remember :2funny:

Gloria, that is what I buy also  but can't wait for a sun ripe tomato.

Well, I waited long enough that I don't have to talk to myself.  Good Morning, AMY and anyone else who shows up.

I've been up since about 6:30 and it's also warmer here.  Most of the new snow is slushy and melting.  The old stuff is absorbing the water from the melting slush and it's really giving the ground a good soaking.

AMY, I still have chocolate left from the candy making and my doors are not locked.  I figure to put on a couple of pounds before the leftovers all disappear.

I got the all the Christmas stuff except for the Nativity set packed away this morning.  The Wise Men have arrived in Bethlehem and tomorrow they will all find their way into a box until next Christmas.  Both dogs have had a walk and they both took care of business.  Frankie came by but she needed to do an errand so Cooper is still here.  She'll be back later to get him.  Both doggies are sleeping and I sure do feel like joining them.  I think I overdid yesterday and then more this morning.  I'm thinking about goofing off the rest of today.  Don't tell anyone!

I will have to do some work on the month's bills but I can sit for that if my eyes will stay open!  I think an afternoon nap is on the agenda!

I'm getting a yearning for lunch and trying to hold off for another hour but I might not make it!  Haven't heard from Mavis yet today but the way she sounded last night, I'm not surprised!

I wish you all a good day....better than yesterday, but not as good as tomorrow!  Do what's best for YOU!
