Our daughter is home from the hospital .  She has 10 stitches in her right hand middle finger & has a intervenous tube in her left arm which delivers antibiotics near her heart . She will have this for a month .

SharonE

Alpiner, so glad your daughter is home. Hope the IV's do the trick. Scary stuff.

No snow here, although rain a couple days ago. Cold. Freezing at night and was 40 yesterday and 5l today.

Jane, good for you going out and walking again. I skipped again this week. John took Bunny for a walkie around the lake, but she isn't feeling to well either.

I have almost stopped watching the news. I have never been a Trump fan although he has done a lot of good things, if only he would keep his mouth shut. I can't understand the push for impeachment or 25th amendment with so few day left in his term. It will just take time away from legislation that needs to be done.

Jane, we received our stimulus check in our bank account a week or so ago and promptly sent the same amount to the church.

I heard from all 3 kids this weekend so that was good. Sean, our youngest grandson will be 19 in a couple weeks. They grow up so fast.

I did laundry yesterday and folded today. Nothing planned this week other than the vaccinations. I've already turned in the applications. Thursday is the big day.  Found out the beauty shop is closed indefinitely.  :'(  :'(

No other news here. It's 2:30 AM.  Stay safe, everyone. Sharon

maryz

alpiner, glad your daughter is home - and hopefully on the mend. It's certainly an object lesson that we should not take "minor" infections lightly.

jane, sorry for your brrrrr temperatures, but sunshine always helps.

Sharon, sorry you're up at 2:30 a.m.

We still have snow on the ground from the other day - AND it's been snowing all morning. Not sticking much, though - only about 30*. I've got a family of cardinals (4 couples) who are regulars at my feeders. They're really busy this morning - and SO pretty against the snow.

Stay warm, Buddies!

Daughter is having quite a time functioning with having to be careful of the right hand & having an Iv in the left arm .  I wish we lived closer so I could help her .
Arthritis bothering my right wrist this morning & I was thinking her situation is so much more painful .

Alpiner...glad your daughter got medical help when she did...sounds very serious.

Sharon...I'm glad to see so many corporations are withholding $$$ to those who tried to overthrow the election and glad I don't live near our state capitol.

Mary...mid 30s today and my walk was short.  Darn hips really bothering me today.

Dig...hope the med works.  The itching can drive you crazy.

jane

I had an appt. with my cancer surgeon yesterday . All is good !

Great News, Alpiner, ALWAYS!

Beautiful day here...actually saw the sun!  I took advantage and got my mile walk in.

Weather is to change and snow by Friday likely, "they" say.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

Cottoncandy

Good morning..just checking in..not much to report on....as I just walk and stay home...lots of covid everywhere...I don't know when the vaccine will be available here...hope everyone is staying safe...have a great day

SharonE

Like Darlene, nothing much going on here except my cleaning lady is supposed to come this AM and we're to get our vaccines this afternoon.

It's been in the 40's and 50's here. Some light rain in past days. None today.

John will go to the grocery after he gets his vaccination this afternoon.

Jocelyne called last night to check in.  Harrison was practicing his piano. He's also nuts about hockey and has worked hard to learn to skate well.  He's good about helping Liam when he falls on the ice.  Harrison goes back to school next week. Liam has been in pre-school. I just pray none of them get the virus.

Jonathan and Leyton are in quarantine. Came in contact with a parent at Little League sign-ups. Just hope it doesn't develop.

Well, I need to go see if I can get my hair to look decent. I washed it last night but haven't styled it. It's getting really long for me.

Good for you Alpiner. That's always a relief.

Jane, you are so good about getting out and walking in spite of your pain. Wish I were, but our streets are hilly and I have to take the walker, so don't want to try it unless John is with me.  I can get by with a cane on flat ground, but not the hills.

Take care, everyone, and stay safe.   Sharon

Marilyn

I've been busy with  the lender and getting things ready for the garbage or sold or given away. sorting takes so much time and there is nothing off the table as far as to keep, must make that decision as I go through boxes, drawers, closets etc. Just thought I should check in.

maryz

Sharon, glad you're getting vaccinated today! I wish I was before 1 February, but I guess that's the way it is.

Marilyn, once the decision is made, the hardest part is the sorting. I don't envy you at all. Good luck!

jane, how's your weather today? After our low in the teens a couple of mornings ago, we're in the mid50s with sunshine today. And cold again over the weekend. Welcome to Tennessee Winter!

Darlene, Texas has those ups and downs, too, I know.

Today is my next-to-youngest grandkid's (Andy) birthday - he's 32!

Stay well and warm, Buddies!

Afternoon, Babes.  What a day and night yesterday!

I was cleaning my tub and one leg on the floor mat went one way and my body went the other.  BIG OUCH!  I thought I'd maybe hyper extended the knee, doing a diagnosis from the internet... :uglystupid2:  :idiot2:   or a sprain. I iced it and took tylenol and elevated it.  I went to bed and put some pillows under the knee, but couldn't sleep much...because: there were 7 trains blowing their whistles on the south side of town (I'm on the north side) but the whistles were so loud between 10:45 and midnight!  Then at 11:23 pm, I got a phone call from ADT Security saying my neighbors alarm had gone off...and could I go down and check!  Hello....it's 11:23 PM, I"m in bed and my knee if hurting...and I'm NOT going down there alone.  I told them to call the police.  A few minutes later I saw the red lights of the police there...and then the Police Dept called to see if I could go down and meet with the policeman.  Again, a NO.  I'd tried to call Gary and Kathy on their cell because I knew they were off to a historic hotel in Waterloo....and couldn't get through.  They turn the phone off.  DUH!  And at 2:30 am...the trains started up again.  AAAGGGHHHH!!

My knee is much better today, so I didn't call the Urgent Care Clinic...just continuing with tylenol and ice.

I'm not doing very much today...not very energetic!!

Here the hospital says that the IB group....those over 75, teachers, etc. will maybe get the vaccine after Feb. 1
Kathy said she talked to a pharmacist who thought it'd be the end of Feb before there's enough vaccine here.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

jane

Thanks, Mary.  It's still pretty swollen, but pain has lessened a lot.

I waited until the garbage people came by, and so I could get out my driveway with little fuss, I went down to the closest thing we have for a bakery here.  I bought frosted pumpkin bars and some fancy little white balls called Oreos...I have no idea what those will be.  These  are for tomorrow night's dessert for our Fri night group.

Snow started when I pulled out and it's been steady for the last 6.5 hours.  Guess winter is back.

Time to wrap up this day.

Stay safe and healthy,

Jane

Beautiful fluffy snow this morning on bushes and trees.Neighbor just cleared my drive and walks.  All is good here!🤓😷

maryz

Sounds like a great day to stay in with a book/knitting/TV/snacks/soft clothes!

SharonE

Oh Jane, I'm so sorry to hear about your fall, but glad you're feeling better now. If it keeps hurting, try Voltaren Gel, an OTC gel for arthritis and knees especially. I use it a lot. It's in the low 50's with some drizzel here today. Don't like it, but prefer it to snow. Maybe you should get a handle that grips on the side of your tub to help you get out safely. Amazon probably has them as well as some pharmacies. We used to carry them in ours.  I can't get up out of a tub because of my knees, so a shower is my cleanup of choice.  It has a seat in it, bars, and a spray attachment. Perfect for me.

I hope all of you can get a shot soon.

Nothing happening here today. Going to go finish my book in a bit.

Marilyn, I agree with Mary, the sorting is the worst part and no one can really help you with that.  Otherwise, things get pitched that you want. Any luck with the trains, etc?  Hang in there. We're all thinking of you.

I got my first Moderna vaccine shot this afternoon!  :nanadance:  I had put my name on the waiting list at my County Health Department.  They called me about noon today, Margaret came to get me, and I got my injection about 2 p.m.!  I get the second shot on 5 February.

I was feeling very uptight & on the verge of breaking down this morning .  I left to do grocery shopping & perked up but it came back this afternoon .  What caused it this afternoon was I needed to get an online account with our insurance so I could continue to get my prescriptions by mail  .  I called the insurance to get help but was getting no where !   I said I would have to try another day & hung up . Then I went online & tried again & think I have it taken care of .  Before I was dealing directly with the by mail pharmacy & still am but with a different account .  It seems self defeating !    Now I know how my Mom felt as she grew older & found things confusing !

Cottoncandy

Hi friends.....hope this finds everyone doing good health wise....I signed up for the vaccine...even tho I have reservations about getting it...Jane hope you are getting over your fall..I have to watch myself ...but do have several grab bars...put in for hubby...now I can use them..Sharon..I haven't received my stimulus check yet..but it will be DP...I guess..Mary yes tx weather is warm one day cold the next..Marlyin bet you will be glad to get moved..Alpiner...glad yo got a good Dr report...I'm having sinus problems...due to mountain cedar I guess...here wishing everyone a great...safe weekend

maryz

alpiner, sorry you had a bad day. I hope things are better today.

Darlene, I have no reservations about the vaccine. And daughter Margaret was very pleased and relieved that I got it. Good luck with getting yours.

We woke up to a dusting of snow this morning, but it was gone by lunchtime. And even some bits of sunshine peeking through.

I've had just a small amount of arm soreness - achiness more - this morning, but no other side effects from the shot.

jane

Hi, Babes!

Alpiner...sorry for the stress and melt down feelings over trying to get your insurance set up the way you want it.

Mary...so thrilled you got your shot.  It'll probably be a month before they even begin to offer them to my group: 1B.

Sharon...grab bars are life savers at my age.

Darlene...I got my check today in the mail.  The IRS doesn't have my bank info since I didn't take my refund last year [had it applied to this year's taxes]...I'll not do that again. :knuppel2:

I didn't fall and hurt my knee trying to get out of the tub.  I was trying to clean the far side of the tub (that has a shower attached that has the hand held shower head and you can raise it up or down).  My body wash had leaked down the far side of the tub...and I was outside the tub trying to clean up that mess.  I'm not very tall, so I had to stretch to reach across to the far side.  My one leg was on the bath mat, and it started to slide...my body went the other way and OUCH...the knee did its own thing.   :uglystupid2:  :idiot2: OUCH!  We had grab bars installed when we'd had this tub/shower put in when we remodeled the bath a few years ago.  I have other grip bars around the house on various stairs, etc.

Anyway, the knee is improvng...I'm using ice, elevating it, and have a knee brace for stability.\

It's getting colder today and suppose to snow again.

I hope there's no violence anywhere this week.  I'm so enraged by those who think it's their right to execute elected people and/or not follow the rules/laws.

jane

It looks like all the Babes are sleeping in this morning!  Good idea as it's a cold one here in NE Iowa.

Not much planned for today...Sunday is a "no work" day here.

I haven't looked at the News, so I don't know if there's been any violence around the state, and I hope not.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

Chilly here, but some sunshine.

jane, never much going on around here. But CBS Sunday Morning is a MUST for me, then not much else (since I'm not a sports fan). I'm almost afraid to turn the news on this afternoon.

Stay warm and healthy, Buddies!

The past days we have been having summer type weather . It was suppose to be 88F yesterday .   We have been having church service out doors & this morning it was pleasantly warm , I took a shawl just in case & it got a bit too warm .

SharonE

Wow, 88, Alpiner. It must be nice to have church outside. It is still in the 50's here and I watch church service on You Tube. So nice to see my regular church and not have to drive an hour to get there.

Jane, I'm glad you're getting better and that you have plenty of bars for safety. I watch the evening news, but I sure hope everything goes smoothly and without violence this week.

Mary, I think cardinals should be called snowbirds because they are so pretty in the snow.  Someone posted a picture on my bird site of a cardinal and an eagle sitting side by side on a branch! Really nice.

Alpiner, dealing with businesses these days is very frustrating. I've had those experiences too.  Hang in there.

I've been working on a long-procrastinated project the past 2 days. Several years ago, I made family recipe books for my 2 oldest grands and they loved them. Last year, one of the others requested one, so I asked the other 3 if they wanted one too while I was making his. They did. So I have now run off 4 copies of each page + a special cover page for each, but I have to sort them and order the recipe binders from Amazon, Borrow a 3-hole punch to punch the holes in the pages, put page covers over each page and then put them in each binder according to food type.So I'm only half done.  Guess I'll go order the Binders now.

Bunny seems to have an intestinal problem or anal problem, so we've made an appt with a new vet for Wed AM. I pray it's nothing serious.

Take care and stay safe!  Sharon

jane

Afternoon, Babes!  It's in high 20s here and snow flurries.

Sharon...the male cardinals are so pretty against the snow.  And, I love that they come in pairs...each watching out for the other as one eats.

I took a check to the bank this morning and got that deposited and then out to the little market I like for a forzen pizza I've heard is good...we'll see....hungry for that tonight.  Then I came home and emptied dishwasher while I awaited word from WalMart my order was ready for pickup.  This has really spoiled me from going in and walking the store.

Now home and reading with the stove fire going and waiting for some news programs I like.  I was glad to see McConnell has said that Trump and other prominent Republicans lied to the crowd.

Nothing else new here. Back to my recliner and fire and kindle.

Stay safe and healthy!

jane
