Good Morning. another short night. Nancy is restless. I went to bed left her sleeping in her easy chair , she came to bed about eleven  and she got back about 1:30 AM . we can't win for losing. wish we can win in the court trial. Life is no fun any more. Have a good day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  The temps are hanging in the low to mid 20s right now but supposed to go up tomorrow and Monday.  There is more snow predicted for Monday but with temps in the high 30 it probably won't lay anywhere except on the old accumulation.

LLOYD, how can you say "Life is no fun" when you have little ones to play with.  I'd give anything to have my two great grandkids close enough to see every day!

JENNY, I hope hope whatever it is that's making you sad will go away or just get better!  Life is too short to spend it worrying.  I know you have lots to worry about but I hope it's not all bad in your life.

My friend, Mavis's funeral service is today and after a lot of deep thought and torn feelings, I've decided that it would not be in the best interest of my family to go.  I will miss not sharing goodbyes with her family.  They are such nice people!

My SIL's birthday was this week and he doesn't know it yet but his son and his son's "Love" are coming up from Philadelphia today.  I'd love to go over there and see them but it's not a good idea.

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.  Make it your own in every way!

P.S. My arm is telling me this morning that they put a needle in it yesterday.  Not bad...but not good, either.

Good morning...

Tis a tad chilly out there at the moment -15° F. Have a bit  of snow blowing to do  this morning. Need to take hubby in to pick up more urethane plus glides for the drawers if they have them.

Jane, I think you are wise to forgo the events that are coming up..better to be safe than sorry.

Lloyd, I agree with Jane...with little ones about to keep you busy how can you say life is no fun??

Jenny, try the 15 Bean soup recipe...it is so tasty and it is a meal all in one! Worrying never gets one anywhere but know how easy it is to do that. Positive thought and prayers are better.

Patricia, loved the videos. The family is very talented.

Phyllis, I hope today is a sunshiny day for you.

Better get ready for the day..

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Amy, it is!!!  A beautiful, sun is shining and that makes everything seem better.  I hope it is brightening the day for everyone else here.

So glad to see some of our Texas friends are coming back in and beginning to recover from this terrible time.  Who would have thought they would have such terrible cold to deal with!

I plan to scratch around the house but that might not get done.  I just would like to sit in the window and feel the warmth of the sun.  I may bestir myself enough some time today to make a Rustic Cherry Tart.  We'll see.

Take care, All.

I QUIT!!!

I am not doing  any more work today..

Waltzed with Mr SB, well jitter bug and break dance is more in keeping with the moves.  Did laundry and it is still blowing on the line as the day turned out just beautiful.

Phyllis, we had your soup at noon and it just seems to get better!! This sure is a keeper1 :smitten:

Patricia, hope today is better day for you.
Now I am going to go work hard at doing nothing.. :2funny:

Hope you all had a good day today!  I had a few frustrations that I had to work out but I think I managed them.

I took the time of Mavis's funeral this morning to write a letter to her son and daughter telling them some of the things that made us such good friends.  I kind of felt like I was with them at the time.  It was pretty nice!

AMY, when you said you were quitting, you also said the laundry was still on the line.  Is it still out there?  I know there are times when I tell myself I'm going to quit!!!  Then I add, "right after I put this away, or right after I finish that!  Quitting is very hard to do!  It's kind of like trying to have the last word! You always think of something else to say.

Good night to Everyfriend!  I hope you had a good day!  And I wish you a peaceful night's sleep, and a happy, healthy, germ-free, snow-free sunshiny tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning..

Another chilly one with a starting temp of -6°. A day of rest here..I think.

Jane ,I did bring in the laundry..and that was it! Watched some tv then hit the hay. That was very nice of you to share your memories of their Mom with them.

Shirley, where are you? I hope you hear from Gloria's daughter to let us know how Gloria is doing. We don't eat potatoes fast enough for them not to go icky. Now I can them, they are at the ready to use as I plese......no waste......just waist.

Callie, bluebirds are rare here, we did have a couple a long time ago and would love to see them come back into the area.

Better get a hitch in my get a long and get ready to meet the day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning from a chilly minus twenty-six Interior where we warm above zero midday and drop several points each evening. Last week, we had our blowing snowstorm, but I was otherwise occupied.

Jane, that was a nice gift to Mavis's children and a gift to yourself in memories.

It saddened me to do this, but yesterday I emailed my friend that I would no longer be able to get her groceries or other errands and also emailed the onsite Senior Services to take my name off of the volunteer list for errands.

Yesterday, I had a knock on my door, and someone had left a box of food at mine and some others' doors. I had a look-see, and I swear it was all the canned and bagged stuff that has sat at donations for ages.  I was able to slide it to one side and left it there. I certainly don't need canned fish, rice, dried beans, peas, or a gazillion cans of tomato paste.

Farrah has become a fine feline babysitter. Often I will look up, and there she is, lying on the end of the bed watching me. Or I'll wake to her nuzzling my face in the middle of the night.

Good to read about your days, Patricia, even if things aren't as "right" as a week or so ago. I do have to give myself a pep talk every so often, to adjust my head to the changes. Isn't it strange that when we were young... younger, we didn't notice "the old folks" struggling with so many ups & downs?  Guess it was a good thing to be so innocent, huh?  I did watch my grandmother's decline because I thought I was most like her, but my life has been much easier. By the way, my Tiger has decided I make a good pillow this winter. She snuggles to my arm with her face on my hand and back end by my chin, so I keep a small pillow between her fur & my face. Tom used to sleep behind my legs but since their mother stays inside closed off in the family room near the litter box, he stays in there with her. Cats rule! Would be lonely without them, huh?  The only volunteering I do anymore is when I get the hungries for some of the old fashioned meals I used to fix, I find someone that used to love as much as I did and share with them. Today I'm off to the store for a head of cabbage to make coleslaw. Years ago I put out a plea in here for a recipe & got the same one from people in 4 different states, so that's what I call it, my "4-State Coleslaw".  My mouth is watering for some & it has to sit overnight to get the flavor spread thru....

I"ll send a note to Regina to see how Gloria is doing, so she can just "reply" back. I'm betting that Gloria is getting tired of this stage & ready to get back to normal & her back rubs from Yvette.

Hi to all... we have bright sun & looks so nice with snow almost gone, not as warm as it looks so need to wrap up to go to the store. Hope to find everything I need but lots of shelves empty these days. Is that the end of the tunnel I see?????  YES!
:hello:  :happydance:

Shirley, my entire family, growing up, were hard-working farmers. If they had an issue, they just kept working because the jobs wouldn't wait on them. It was a different world then.

JaneS

Not a lot of activity in here today!  That's a lot like my house....not a lot of activity here either.  I think I spent more time rubbing Arnica Gel on my sore spots than doing anything else.

I did some research on the computer and sent some emails and text messages to family members, made lunch and supper and the bed, took a couple walks, read the paper and did the crossword puzzle....not a lot more!  It was a kind of lazy day!

PATRICIA, it's so good to "see" that you're feeling better!  Keep coming back.  Giving up the volunteer positions was probably not easy for you to do but sometimes we have to think of ourselves.  Nice of Farrah to be you "sitter"!

AMY, I'm glad the laundry didn't have to blow around on the line after you "quit"!

Now I'm going to take Mickie out one more time and then hit the hay.  I have a bunch of stuff planned for tomorrow so I better go find the zzzzzs.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, germ-free tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning..

We are off to town for blood work for hubby......then off to another little town to hopefully pick up drawer slides. I have phoned all over and they are like hens teeth to find but I did find them.  We have always wanted to go in this new store and now we get the chance. Each time we pass by it we say ,next time when we have time as we both know we will explore the aisles for new tools. We are also meeting sons girlfriend there, I have a 4 shelf greenhouse she can have to start her seeds in and her birthday present.

Jane, is this from shoveling that you have sore spots???

We are to get more snow M,T,W,S,S this week..gosh doesn't that just tickle ones humor.

Patricia, love Hallelujah, always have. I have tried telling people that with modern technology the scientists can develop the vaccine sooner.  Some don't listen. :( You may be able to go back into volunteering after you heal and this darn covid is smothered out. Right now it is a time to take care of you.

Shirley, I had to smile as I pictured Tiger cuddling in.  Do you remember looking at an older person when young and thinking they are old!!  Now we are that age ,if not older and we don't feel old........well not all the time anyway.

Better get a move on here.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It was supposed to start snowing here around 7 a.m.  That was an hour ago and nothing yet!  I'm not complaining!  It can go around us, over us, past us, ignore us and I won't mind one little bit!

AMY some of the sore sports are residuals from the broken arm and I guesss I'll have to live with them.  My left shoulder and arm sometimes get so sore that I feel like tossing it in the trash and I know it's just because I use it too much at times.  I've also developed a sore side that goes from my left BEE-hind, down my left leg in the back and then come around at the knee and goes all the way to my ankle and the top of my instep.  Most of the time it's just the top that hurts and it's bearable but when it goes all the way, I want to cry!

I have an upcoming appointment with the kinesiologist and I'm pretty sure she'll be able to do something about it. So I'm hanging in there.  And I bet that's a lot more than anyone wanted to know.  I think my left side is giving up!  But I'm not letting it do that.

I'm making the sweet tater soup today.  I'm determined!  I can almost taste it just looking at the recipe.  Wondering, has anyone ever canned Sweet Potato Soup?  Does it need the pressure canner?  Oddly enough, it's not in the Canner's Bible (My Ball Blue Book) and I haven't been able to find it on line either!  Maybe I'm just missing it.  I'll try again this morning!

I wish you all a good day....better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

Sorry to hear about the aches and pains this morning.  Hope they go away soon.

Laundry day so I must get my breakfast and get started.

The SNOW came!  We walked in it this morning and avoided it the rest of the day.  The township crew has plowed and salted the road and my kindly neighbor has cleaned my driveway and sidewalks.  So Mickie and I are just about ready to go for another walk.

The sweet tater soup is cooking and has another hour to go in the crockpot.  That's just about time for my supper.  It smells wonderful.  And I did find a way to can it.  As long as there's no flour or milk in it (there isn't) you do it just about like the potatoes in a pressure canner.   I'll try that next time!

You're right LLOYD!  There's not much action in this place.  Maybe we need some cookies in the Hidey Hole to draw people in!

Have a good rest of the day!

Here's something to make you think!  This lady lived in the general area that my gr-grandparents came from so there's hope for me yet. My bike is still waiting for a warmer day & I still love to eat, but I quit smoking when my daughter turned 13 (she's 65 now), so this lady has a few points on me but I have a few over her.... I used to say I was going to make it to 120 since my dad & his mother got to 95 & 96 and their brains were sharp as ever to the last.  Enjoy.......

Jeanne Louise Calment had the longest confirmed human lifespan on record: 122 years and 164 days. It seems that fate strongly approved of the way Madame Calment lived her life. She  was born in Arles, France, on February 21, 1875. When the Eiffel Tower was built, she was 14 year old. It was at this time that she met Vincent van Gogh. "He was dirty, badly dressed and disagreeable," she recalled in an interview given in 1988.

When she was 85, she took up fencing, and she was still riding on her bike when she reached 100. At the age of 114, she starred in a film about her life; at age 115 she had an operation  on her hip, and at age 117 she gave up smoking, having started at the age of 21 in 1896. Apparently, she didn't give it up for health reasons, but because she didn't like having to ask someone to help her light a cigarette once she was nearly blind.

In 1965, Jeanne was 90 years old and had no heirs. She signed a deal to sell her apartment to a 47-year-old lawyer called André-François Raffray. He agreed to pay her a monthly sum  of 2,500 francs on the condition that he would inherit her apartment after she died. However, Raffray not only ended up paying Jeanne for 30 years, but died before she did at the age of 77. His widow was legally obliged to continue paying Madam Calment until  the end of her days.

Jeanne retained sharp mental faculties. When she was asked on her 120th birthday what kind of future she expected to have, she replied, "A very short one."

Quotes and Rules of Life from Jeanne Louise Calment:

"I'm in love with wine."
"All babies are beautiful."
"I think I will die of laughter."
"I've been forgotten by our Good Lord."
"I've only got one wrinkle, and I'm sitting on it."
"I never wear mascara; I laugh until I cry too often."
"If you can't change something, don't worry about it."
"Always keep your smile. That's how I explain my long life."
"I see badly, I hear badly, and I feel bad, but everything's fine."
"I have a huge desire to live and a big appetite, especially for sweets."
"I have legs of iron, but to tell you the truth, they're starting to rust and buckle a bit."
"I took pleasure when I could. I acted clearly and morally and without regret. I'm very lucky."
"Being young is a state of mind, it doesn't depend on one's body, I'm actually still a young girl; it's just that I haven't looked so good for the past 70 years."
At the end of one interview, in response to a journalist who said, "I hope we will meet again sometime next year."
She replied, "Why not? You're not that old; you'll still be here."

Good morning..

We had a good day yesterday, driving wasn't too bad in the snow. We just took our time, met up and exchanged  items. We were lucky as we came home with a cookie tin filled with all kinds of homemade cookies. We did do a bit of a tour  in the new lumber store and would love to go back and see more!

I did dance with MR SB after lunch. we had about 3 inches of new snow and I had heard that rain may follow and moving wet snow is not fun!

Shirley is that woman reminds me of you and Jane!!

Jane, I bet your supper was delicious!!

Better scoot, store opens at 7 am and I had better get dressed.....

Enjoy your day and stay safe!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I've been up for a bit trying to make myself appear busy!  I don't know if it worked or not but I've got a couple of clean bathrooms to show for it.

Cooper is here to spend some time while Frankie goes shopping and to a drs. appointment.  He hasn't been here for a while due to Frankie's slow starts in the morning and too much snow.  I think he missed us.

We're supposed to get some higher temps this week (one day into the low 50s so some of the snow will probably melt.  There is one day snow is predicted but the temp is supposed to be a high of 45 so I'm guessing that won't last.  I'm in favor of SPRING!  And I promise not to complain about the heat this summer

AMY, I don't know of anything in my life that resembles that lady that SHIRLEY introduced to us.  Except maybe getting older.  She has a lot more on the ball than I do!  As to age, I've already surpassed all of my ancestors in age but my sister still has me beat.  As long as she lives she'll be 16 months older than I am and she isn't showing any signs of leaving in the near future.  In fact, 20 years ago, when we lost our kid sister, I told her she has to outlive me because I'm never going through that again!

Guess I better try to "get a wiggle on" but that always makes my pants twist too and that's very uncomfortable.  I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

Good morning everyone! I've been watching the Greenfield SC zoo's cam. Autumn, after 263 days, had her sixth calf, a girl on the 21st. The baby, 148 pounds and six feet tall, was born after two-hour labor. The baby is dropped directly on the ground and the fall starts its breathing. I can't even imagine carrying a baby that size! A giraffe won't get pregnant again until 16 months.

Day is done,
Gone the Sun,
From the Lake
From the hill,
From the sky.
All is well
Safely rest
God is nigh!

I sing this every night in the yard while I wait for Mickie!  It's peaceful and it brings back memories of my Girl Scout Camping days!

And now I'm ready for bed.  If Frankie makes it in the morning, it will be 5:30 when she drops off Cooper.  We'll be up and about EARLY!  So I'm off to the haystack.  I hope I sleep well because I probably won't get any napping time tomorrow.  I have to make a run to Davy's (The Mennonite Store) and Frankie will be getting home in the afternoon just about the time I usually close my eyes for a shortie.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, germ-free, no-snow tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

:hb2: News from Regina (Gloria's daughter) :hb2:

Well good news on Mom. She will find out tomorrow what day she will be going home... either Thursday or Friday! Cannot be soon enough for her!! The beginning of this mess, I would have said she would not be going home. All three of us kids kept telling her if she didn't eat she wouldn't be going home. She was so weak.
But today she walks the halls of the rehab place and they even have her taking a couple of stairs!
She knows now she has to eat, and she will have to be walking the halls of where she lives to get some exercise.
She has bounced back and at less than 2 months til 90 I think she is amazing!! Of course she's my Mom so a bit biased!!😁😍
So when she gets home she won't probably be on as often as she was but please tell everyone I thank them for their prayers and good thoughts! She will have the cards to open up and how marvelous that will be!
Thanks Shirley for being the go between! A very important job it is!!

I had my visit with the eye surgeon, 1st cataract comes off the 8th of March, next week the other goes & takes a month of healing before glasses made so we'll see how it goes. I may have a problem seeing the computer depending how this goes. My daughter is coming to town for the whole week & day after, I'm grateful she has time since both boys are super busy right now.

I did drive home myself after having the eyes dilated today. Was tougher than I expected, seems the eyes kept getting foggier as time passed... BUT I made it & didn't even scratch the car pulling into my crowded driveway & garage. We had beautiful weather today & slightly cooler tomorrow. The surprise lilies are at least 2" out of the ground but I expect we have a little winter waiting to show up, never know. Much to do inside & out the next 2 weeks, I'll be checking in every day but I don't "multi-task" as good as I used to... haha....get side tracked and forget what I started.

Amy, here you are still sno-blowing & I'm hoping the kids will put my trug together so I can start planting my garden!  Here's to tomorrow & the next day!  I'm still enjoying the tales of the 122 year old lady, we can all give her style a thumbs up & laugh till we cry.
