Almost 9:00 am here, and I'm just now finishing my first cup of coffee!
(Thank you shirley!)  A late start this morning for a number of annoying reasons.  I'm going to take a shower and hope for a better day ahead.  Looks like it will be warm and sunny.  I'll return later.  :)

FlaJean

It is a bright sunshiny day here in Northwest Florida with a high of 68°.  Love that sunshine.

Yesterday Gigi brought us a chicken pot pie for our dinner.  Jeff had made two.  It was delicious and we have plenty left over for our big meal of the day.

Plumber will be here in a while to install a new shower head and faucet in the tub.  Things do eventually wear out.  That's about all the excitement for today.

Tome, glad all is well with you in Texas.  I did hear on the news last night that there are still several millions without water.

We've had breakfast but that banana bread sounds good.  In fact I've got two big over ripe bananas that need using and think I will go bake some banana bread.

have a good day everyone.

Good morning everyone! I've been watching the Greenfield SC zoo's cam. Autumn, after 263 days, had her sixth calf, a girl on the 21st. The baby, 148 pounds and six feet tall, was born after two-hour labor. The baby is dropped directly on the ground and the fall starts its breathing. I can't even imagine carrying a baby that size! A giraffe won't get pregnant again until 16 months.

Sorry to see that Tiger Woods has been in another accident. It looks nasty and the news was saying he has extensive leg injuries and was in surgery.

CallieOK

A late Good Afternoon,

Patricia, thanks for the zoo link.  Saw a link to a rerun of the actual birth at the side of the live picture. I should think that fall would start the baby breathing!!!!!  THUD!!

Marilyne,  Didn't know about Tiger Woods.  I'm sure it will be on the evening news.

Today was absolutely gorgeous!  70+ degrees and sunny with a very light breeze.  I got my hair cut this afternoon and then went to Walgreen's for "supplies, etc."  (I think that store is becoming my "mini-market"!)  Was even able to get two cans of Lysol disinfectant spray - which has been in very short supply around here.

When I got home, I opened the patio door and left the garage door up and the door into the house open to air things out.  It no longer smells like an old lady lives here.  ;D

Hope Everyfriend has had an Enjoyable Day.

Marilyne

It took me about 12 hours, but I finally returned!  ::)   AJ worked in the yard today, and I mostly answered emails, and talked on the phone to #2 daughter.  It was a beautiful day with temps in the mid 70's.   Very unusual for this time of year.  We had two inches of rain in January, and that is the extend of our rainfall so far, so we're officially in a drought!  :(   I hope that doesn't mean water rationing all Summer, plus even drier conditions in Fall, when wildfires return.

Jean - Your chicken-pot-pie that Jeff made, sounds delicious!  So many younger men seem to enjoy cooking, and are very good at it.  I agree, the banana bread from shirleyn, sounds perfect with coffee or tea in the morning.

shirleyn - I forgot to comment on Patricia's  photo of the Sticky Buns!  I've never seen them for sale at any of our local bakeries, or stores like Safeway.   I love any kind of muffins, buns, coffee cake or Danish rolls, so I know the sticky bun would be high on my list!   Right now Hot Cross Buns, are being featured during Lent.  I like them, and plan to eat plenty, over the next six weeks.

MarsGal - I saw the story about Tiger Woods, on the news tonight. Too bad, as he was just starting to win tournaments again, after a long dry spell.

Callie - Glad you finally got rid of that "old lady smell" in your house!  ;D     And not a moment too soon . . .  it was beginning to drift all the way over here to California!   :2funny:

The call just came,

Sunny here and 63°.  Love this sunshiny weather.

A nice long post from you Marilyne.  Sounds like your weather is about the same as ours at present.

Must go and get a few things done.

Have a good day all.

I just redid my post from the Soda Shoppe to put in here and boom my iPad shut down and poof it was gone.  I had to reboot of course!

Good morning to all!  Coffee is on & the tea kettle is singing – help yourselves!  Sorry I missed yesterday – we went to the strawberry fields yesterday & had some delish strawberry shortcake, along with a Cuban sandwich.  Oh my.  This is where we used to meet Norm once a year.  We brought home a flat of strawberries & had some on my oatmeal this morning.  Oh Boy Oh Boy!  Anyway, so I am offering you all some strawberry muffins. Help yourselves.

Yay for Dapphne.  (Sorry, I have called you Dapphne for so long that I cannot remember your real name)  I hope you did not have any reactions to your shot.

Hi to FlaJean, Marilyne, Callie, Patricia, Marsgal, Jenny and anyone else peeking in this morning.  I hope you all have a great day.  Mine is starting out good with a sunny 64 degrees with a high going up to 81.  I cannot remember how to make the degree sign – used to know, but like a lot of other things I cannot remember it.   :tickedoff:

shirleyn - I remember when Mary Ann used to visit Norm and Dot in Fl, and she always looked forward to meeting you and Danny at the strawberry fields.    Sounds like such a fun and interesting place, with great food.  I love strawberry shortcake or just a bowl of strawberries with half & half!   What does a Cuban sandwich consist of?  Sounds good and interesting - sandwiches have become my favorite meal in recent years, because they're easy and quick to make for lunch or dinner, and can be made with a large variety of veggies and meats and fish.

Jenny - good to see that you and Bob will be getting your final Covid shot today.  It will feel good to get it out of the way, and be covered for the duration of this Pandemic!

Sandy - Hooray, for you .. . getting your first shot!    You and
Patricia, are in the same time frame.

Jean -I remember from years past,  that the temperatures in your part of FL, and my part of CA, are almost always the same this time of year. Mostly bland and comfortable, in the mid 60's to the mid 70's.  Yesterday the thermometer in the back yard said 75, but supposed to drop back into the 60's for the weekend.

We didn't hear from MarsGal, Callie, or Tomereader yesterday?  Sure hope Beverly is okay?  It's been a long time since she posted.

I'm here - just busy with desk work and domestic duties.

I've been asked to write a story about my family's history in my hometown for the museum archives there.  I love to do this sort of thing and have done so about other family members - although not for any museum archives  :) . Just finished one about my Mother and her two sisters, who were all independent working women during an era not known for that sort of thing. Earlier, I had written one about my paternal grandmother who went alone on the train from Iowa to California in the 1880's so she could "deliver a paper" (according to the newspaper article in her scrapbook) at some kind of educational conference.

So I've spent all morning gathering materials and pictures for this one and preparing a 3-ring binder for organizing things and writing drafts.

Shirleyn,  I also remember the strawberry fields and Mary Ann's visits to Florida.  Good memories of good times.

Tummy is strongly suggesting it's time for lunch and I s'pose I should find out what's going on in the rest of my little piece of the world.

Hello from the Interior, where Monday through Wednesday was full of wet, tiny, driven falls of stinging snow, whereas today has been full of large fat flakes twirling and swirling through the air. In any case, the trucks and plows have been practically nonstop plowing, loading, and dumping snow.

MarsGal

Nothing much to report right now, except that I got an email from my insurance co that shots are available nearby now, and I got a robo-call from my State Senator about a phone-in "town hall" about COVID-19.

I've been spending way too much time on the computer doing this and that, some of it necessary, like paying bills. I also spent some time trying and, finally, with success, managed to download the Libby app to an old Kindle. I want it on the old Nexus I got from George, but it keeps telling me I don't have the necessary version. Funny that, I checked. I have operating system version 5.1,1. It insists I need anything over version 5. Last time I looked, 5.1.1. is newer, though slightly, than 5.0. I gave up on that for the time being which is why it is on a Kindle. Anyway, now I can get borrowed e-books in .epub format if it isn't available (and there are some that aren't) for Kindle.

This blasted flat keyboard is driving me nuts this afternoon. Lucy isn't helping. She has decided that it is OK to walk over the keyboard to get from the recliner to the radiator via this desk. Okay, when I am not using the laptop, but otherwise, not so much fun. Yesterday she stopped and sat on top of the keyboard as I was trying to use it.Sigh!

MarsGal

Nice Don. I noticed that the lyrics are posted so we can sing along. My toes are tapping.

Hi Patricia.

Denver

Good evening.  Just a quick hello as I check in on you all.

Bob and I received our second vaccine today and so far all is well.  Hope it stays that way!  We had a doozy of a snow storm last night receiving 14.5" according to the local news.  This amount certainly did help our moisture deficit.  The roads were not bad at all just a lot of splash back so kept having to spray the windows.

SHIRLEY N, thank you for the nice cup of coffee this morning....I enjoyed it and the strawberry muffin very much before having to head off for our vaccine.  I had to smile as I read and thought back to the time you and Norm would meet up at the strawberry farm.  Such a wonder time you all enjoyed together.

I did not sleep well last night, so I am headed off to get a better rest tonight.  Take care and be well.

Good evening....

My arm is a bit sore from my Covid Vaccine yesterday.  I have a raised red bump that is very itchy, other than that we are both fine and thankful to have this behind us.

I wish you all a good night.  Did you notice we have nearly another full moon tonight?  Seems we just had one😘

Marilyne

It's a cold and frosty Saturday morning, but temps are supposed to climb into the low 60's today, so that will be nice for doing a little yard clean-up, and then setting the sprinklers to start their Spring cycle.  Way too early in the year for sprinklers,  but no more rain storms predicted by the meteorologists.   Occasional showers, for the next couple of months, but not enough to measure, or to water the lawn.   So,  drought is with us once more, and we will have to adjust once again to water rationing.

Jenny  -  Good to see your message from last night, that Michele has completed the gamma knife treatment once again.  The spots they did last time have not returned, so it goods good, that this round of treatments will be successful also, and I'll be praying that she will go into remission.

Time for a cup of coffee, while I wait to see what goodies  shirley  has prepared for us this morning?  Hoping it's another strawberry muffin! ❤️

patricia19

Good morning from an Interior where we are back to flirting with zero and still under more snow alerts. We broke the record back in late October with our eighteen inches, and since March has been in the past, our snowest month, I dread what's next.

Jenny,  Michele has been in my thoughts, and I hope this latest round will be what she needs. It's hard when a family member goes through something like this, and we can't make it all go away for them.

FlaJean

We've had several days of beautiful weather but today is overcast.  According to the radar it looks like the rain will pass us by.  Maybe a shower.

Jenny, A little good news regarding Michele.  Will certainly keep her in my prayers.

Marilyne, wish we could send you a little rain.

My son and daughter-in-law gave me a $75 Amazon gift certificate so I pre-ordered the latest Donna Leon book that will soon be out.  Later in March the new Jacqueline Winspear Maisie Dobbs book will be published so I'm looking forward to that.  It took me a while but now I really enjoy reading books on my iPad.  It's so nice to be able to adjust or change the print to my liking.  Since this pandemic I'm so leery of getting books from the library and the selection of digital books we can get from the library are pretty limited and mostly not to my taste.  And the library never puts the digital series books in sequence.  Half the time they leave most of the books out.  That's my big gripe for the day.  anyway I'll spend my birthday money on books.

Hey, I see some sunshine!  That makes me feel better.  Have a good day everyone.  You too Jackie!

Denver

SANDY.....no post from you....sure hope you are doing OK and have not had more issues from your Covid Vaccine?

PATRICIA, what you have said is exactly how I feel...." It's hard when a family member goes through something like this, and we can't make it all go away for them." SO HARD not to wish we could do something to HELP....but the support from this group has sure helped me to feel so much better. Having the positive thoughts and prayers is ALL that anyone can give, and they are so appreciated 🥰

Have a good day.

"SANDY.....no post from you....sure hope you are doing OK and

Hi Jenny ...   The covid vaccination went just fine.  I had
a tender arm for only one evening...  I return
in 3 weeks to get the second dose.

In the mean time,  I got a notification
from the place where I live that they
are going to have someone come in and
give us the vaccine,  if we would like.

So slowly but surely,  the Covid  vacines are
coming to our neighborhood.

But of course,  we still have to wear
masks and be very careful ..    I foresee
me wearing a mask for a very long
time,  and just keep my distance
from people...  Good way to stay flu
free,  evening though I have be vacinated
for both flu and covid.

Better safe than sorry ..

Other wise,  I feel great.  Thanks
for asking Jenny ...  I am glad to see
so many people are getting their vaccinations  ..

Time to say good bye to covid,  until the
next one comes along.

Sandy

Callie, I am fond of watching the sun rise at the Marine City site. I have noticed a few ships coming back online with their GPS. I guess they are waking their ships from their winter sleep and getting them prepared for when the locks open in March (forget the exact day). Meanwhile, I see that ships are still getting an "ice escort" between Marine City and the bay area below the Detroit River.

It is a bit dreary looking this morning with some rain forecast for late morning. Debating a trip to the grocery store this morning or tomorrow.

New pix and videos from Perseverance keep popping up on YouTube. Anton Petrov, one of the sites I watch, said that NASA has released over 5,000 images so far. He does a nice update (as of 2/26) explaining what is going on. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4TJd7IKJW9Y

Good morning to one and all!  Sorry I missed a few mornings – been shopping for groceries & then yesterday was the shave and a haircut day.  But today the coffee is made and the water is hot for those who prefer tea – help yourselves.  Also some fresh cinnamon buns over there on the counter.  Still warm – mmmmmm!

Marilyne, you asked about a Cuban sandwich.  It consists of slices of ham and sliced pork and swiss cheese, maybe salami, pickles. Then it is hot pressed.  It is on a specially made bread loaf.  Called Cuban bread, cannot think of what else to call it.  Hope you get the picture.

Callie, you come from an interesting family.  My family were all farmers, not too interesting but very loved.  I have been enjoying your African place thru the nights when I cannot sleep.

Jenny, so sorry to hear about all the troubles your daughter-in-law is having.  I will certainly include her in my prayers.

Dapphne, good to hear about your positive results from your shot.

And Hi to Marsgal and FlaJean, and all the rest – hope you have a great weekend!  ~
