Hello everyone. And to whom it may concern. I have to skip over your posts becuse there are too small for me to read. You know who you are. I can't reply to your posts of I can't read them. I have Macular Degeneration which means there are dark spots in my vision. It also means that eventually I will go blind. Please take those facts into consideration when you are posting in the forum. t is not that hared to make your type larger, but it is very frustratng to me not to e able to read your posts..

Not much new here.  it is raining again today. I may have a buyer for Keith's corvette. My neighbor has a son who is interested and another son who knows some one from the local corvette club. Yay!!. I eed to get it sold and also the classic 50 yr old Buick Opal. They can't go to Ca with us. Don't have a house yet bit our saving account will be bigger if we can sell those two cars.

maryz

Good luck with the car sales, Marilyn.  Selling them would be that proverbial "win-win" situation - more money and less stuff.

Frustrating morning yesterday. I was scheduled for just an INR finger stick with the nurse at the doctor's office - easy/peasy, right?  After sitting an hour in the crowded waiting room, with no sign of getting called back, AND facing another hour sitting in a treatment room, I decided to leave and reschedule. Now I'm scheduled to go tomorrow morning, when the doctor himself doesn't have office hours - just nurse and lab. Hopefully that will go more smoothly.

We're in for a couple of lines of severe weather today. It's just raining now, but supposed to be much worse this afternoon.

Happy Thursday, Buddies!

Marilyn, good to see you post and to hear that you may have the cars sold. That will be wonderful for you. I didn't realize you had MD and that it was so bad. I have a friend who has had it for a long time and she gets shots in her eye or eyes monthly which keeps her able to keep playing bridge and reading. She is in her 90's, so those are about her only outlets. She had to give up driving of course. I hope they are able to control yours enough that you won't have to. How are you coming with sorting and pitching things from the house? I can't remember a time I was more stressed, so you sure have my prayers and good thoughts. (and I had help!!)

Mary, there is no call for you to have to wait an hour for a finger stick. When I used to get those, my dr. had a clinic 1 morning a week and people were in and out in 10 mins at most. Thank heavens I no longer am on blood thinners and don't need them now.

I got up early this AM (for me) so that I could go to the grocery with John. There were some things I just needed to get myself. He has no patience for looking. I have been wanting some floral foam to make an artificial flower arrangement for months, but he could never find some one to ask. I walked right in, saw a girl and got it first thing! I also had some electric toothbrush heads that needed to be taken back because they didn't fit my base. Because I had opened them John was sure they wouldn't take them back, so I took them in and no problem, but they had to order the right heads. I shouldn't get so aggravated with his shopping since he has done it through all this pandemic, but it drives me nuts.

I hope Jane is getting her shot today and without reaction.

Nothing else going on here.  Take care, everyone. Sharon

JeanneP

Thanks Jane.
Your pouring rain reached us. Still storming and suppose to be 50 mile winds tonight. Hope we are not going to get spring like last year.

Marilyn . Will be great if you can sell both cars before you move. I think certain things have to be on autos to be driven in Calif.

Have most on here now had both shots ore the single one. I did have a few problems after the second one but now seem o.k

Good to see @ll the posts.

I got the second shot Thursday and Fri. Was a difficult day...body aches and a lot of additional joint pain.  I pretty much sat all day.  I had a long night's sleep and felt much better today.

Patricia is going home tomorrow.

Jane

Good sunny morning!  Yes, I can see the ☀️... and very few ☁️.  So, a bit chilly...low 30s, but to warm a bit by afternoon.

Patricia has left for N. Wisconsin.  It was a great visit.

I'm feeling back to normal.

Quiet week coming up.  Just need to do lots of laundry and get that caught up, and I'll write checks for tax estimates.  Ugh!

It's to be a very windy week...45-50 mph.

Patricia and I went out to two stores on Saturday, and more people were shopping than I've seen in a year!  These were "decor" places and young women were buying.

Both places required masks and we liked that.

Take care and stay safe,

Jane

maryz

Very quiet in here this weekend.

jane, glad you didn't have much trouble with your second shot. Fun with your sister is great, too!

We had some ferocious storms overnight, with lots of lightning and thunder and rain- all night long. But at least no tornadoes in this area. The sun has come out now.  I got an invitation to Alden's first birthday party.  He's the great=grandson in the Atlanta area that I've not seen before. I don't know that I'll be going, but I know his grandmother (Margaret) will go. Of interest is that the invitation specifies that "masks are required"!

Fun note - the very nice 98-year-old across the hall has just gotten a Samsung tablet - and I'm her go-to for questions and "how-to".  Love to see her getting involved in new stuff.

Happy week, Buddies!

60 degrees here and very windy.

.  My side effects Friday were what they told me could occur...body and joints aching, fatigue.  Lasted through Saturday.

Patricia, my niece, went home Sunday to Wisc.

My sister and BIL arrive next Sunday for a few days visit.  First time to see them in over a year.

Darlene...any news on covid shot availability?

Stay safe and healthy,
Jane

SharonE

Hi All, We went on our trial run to the neurologist's office today with not problem and stopped and got some subs for lunch and mailed some legal stuff via UPS.

Mary, how wonderful that that lady is with it enough to learn new technology.  If you are up to it, I sure would go to the birthday party. Although I declined an invite to Monica's baby shower. Hope to see the baby when it arrives though. My kids are beginning to get vaccines as they lower the age eligibility. I'm so glad of that. Maybe even all the grands by summer.

Jane, so glad you had a good visit with Patricia and have the visit with your sister and bil to look forward to.

Bunny spit up this afternoon and while I had the cleaning spray out, I decided to try it on some spots on the carpet and lo and behold they came mostly up. I just did a few and then John worked on the rest. It's not perfect, but so much better. A lot of it is from the berries from the trash tree out front. I've started taking my shoes off at the door and John does too, but that still leaves my walker and Bunny to track in.

Well, need to get ready to go to dinner.  Sharon

Marilyn

Darlene, I didn't ha, ve any side effects. But they told me that I might had a headache,  upset stomach, body aches and painsjoint, ever and chills. i had the Moderna vaccine.

jane

Marilyn....glad you had no side effects.

Sharon...I've gotten in the habit of taking my shoes off and putting on slippers when I come in from the garage.  It does help with the dirt tracked in.

A chilly and again windy Tuesday morning.

I had to get out of bed early (for me) this morning when my heating guy called to say he was on his way.  My floor units in the kitchen and family room that can supply either heat or ac were acting weird.  The lights flashing on and off and not really getting any heat.  I asked to be on Al's list yesterday afternoon, and he was here at 8:30 this morning!  It turns out that number of lights flashing and their order is telling him what's ailing them.  Who knew???? :2funny:   Anyway, he found a way around the software issue that he said his Tech Buddies on Google said works, and that's fine with me.

This afternoon I'm going down to Kathy's to help her get zoom on her laptop.  She and Gary are NOT tech knowledgeable.  So, I'll go down and install the Zoom app and I printed out a two page "Step-by-step Guide to a Zoom Meeting" for seniors.  It's a good explanation with illustrations.

Her Pastor is having a zoom meeting Wednesday.

I mailed my payment for taxes due to the state yesterday...and this morning I read that they've extended the filing and payments and first estimate to June!  Oh, well,  ::)

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

SharonE

Hi Gals, Jane, I had about the same side effects on #2 vaccine. Glad you got your heating/ac problem solved.

My cleaning girl is supposed to come this AM, but with rain forecast, she may not. She has to roll her cart of supplies down the street to the villas. This afternoon I have to go to Pineville and it's supposed to rain, so John may drive me. He doesn't have a partner today.

Bridge was lousy yesterday. The only time I had good hands, my partner didn't and we only had 7 play, so it was dummy move from table to table. Hard to keep up the flow. And the girl who was supposed to keep score did an awful job of it. I just can't do it because of my tremor.

When I got home, I got some scary news--Lori has Covid and is feeling lousy, but so far not serious. Her significant other's two girls also tested positive but are mostly asymptomatic. They are 16 and 19. Lori was scheduled to get her 1st vaccine in 2 weeks but now will have to reschedule.  On top of that, she has a 3-hr interview (virtual) today. She is going to try to shower and do make-up and will herself through it, but I hope she doesn't have a coughing fit in the middle.

Mary, it sounds like TN has really been hit with the storms lately. Hope you aren't in the current batch. We are at moderate risk.

Marilyn, so glad you didn't have any side affects from the vaccine. Any news yet on either of the cars or a possible house?

Hi Jeanne. Hope you've dried out from all the rain too.
Have a good day, everyone. Sharon

Marilyn

Sherry no news on either cars Today My friend Jo and I are going to Bandon and taking the dogs. She has to drop off her taxes at the accountant and we re going to have lunch with a couple  from Texas. They are visiting their son who lives in Bandon. I went to  the 6,7,and 8th grades with the husband we have been in contact on Facebook and he sent me the class pictures from 8hose years. How fun is that???

maryz

Marilyn, hope you have a good time with your visits. We loved Bandon when we drove up the Pacific Coast - spent a couple of days there.

Sharon, sorry about your cards, but at least you're getting to play. I guess it's been nearly a year since I've played.  Sorry to hear that Lori has COVID - like you, she doesn't get too sick with it. The residents here all got tested again yesterday (the quick test) - guess someone had contact with someone positive.

jane, glad you didn't have a bad reaction.  Kate got her second shot today; Margaret gets her second one on Monday.

The rain finally stopped here about 11 this morning. I think it rained all night long, but I don't think there was any "severe" weather. At least, no weather woke me up.

Margaret came by today and hung a few more pictures for me. The place is finally beginning to look like I really live here - with "my" stuff.

I got my tax forms, etc., from my CPA. Now I can get that taken care of for another year.

Happy Wednesday, Buddies!
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

Sharon....sorry to hear Lori is sick with Covid.  I hope she can fake it through the interview.  I wish I could get back to bridge.

Marilyn...enjoy your day out with a friend.  Very helpful for you to get some "away" time.

Mary...glad the girls can help you make it more homey for you.

My sister in Ohio had SNOW this morning on their deck.  Cold here, too...34, but Weatherguessers say 70 by Easter!  Let's hope so.  Buds on the trees and lilac and daffodils are ready to burst open...if it warms up.

I'm off with a long list to WalMart for groceries for the weekend.

NO wind today....hurrah!

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

SharonE

Hi Gals, I just got back from the neurosurgeon and a bunch of nerve/muscle tests and a blood test. The end result is that I have carpal tunnel in both arms and he wants me to get braces for both to wear at night to rest them and see if that helps them. He is also checking some things in the blood results that might need B12 shots or something. I don't know what else they can find wrong with me!!

Mary, glad you didn't have any bad weather. We didn't either. I bet your place is looking nice now. Would love to see pictures. I do wish we could post pictures in here.

Marilyn, that sounds like lots of fun getting together with an old school friend and fun for you to get out too. Stay safe though. Even with 2 shots, it's possible to contract it until at least 2 weeks afterwards.

Lori is feeling better and made it through the interview okay although she had a sore throat from talking 3 hours. They told her today that they want her to interview with the CIO as a final interview. If she gets it, she would be VP of staff and security, I think, which should bring with it a good raise and authority.

Spanish & haircut tomorrow.  This has really been a busy week.

Have a nice evening.  Sharon

jane

Sharon....the braces/splints the doc gave me for my carpal tunnel has helped.  I don't wear them as religiously as I did at first, but I do when it flares up again.

Also good to hear Lori got through her interview.  I hope she can rest now and take care of herself.

Finally to start to warm up tomorrow...but back to windy coming.

Stay safe,

jane

It's a sunny, windy and chilly Good Friday here.

I need to go out for a few things I forgot yesterday and then back here.

Have a safe and healthy weekend!

Jane

Tomereader1

Well, yesterday was my 6 month checkup at my PCP.  She was not happy with my blood pressure readings (nor was I) they were usually in the very good range.  But, of a sudden, they began getting higher than "very good".  So, she put me on a new drug, to go along with my regular BP med.  I am to take it for 30 days and see what transpires, and go back to her in a month.  And yes, she did chastise me for not already having had one of the vaccines, and insisted that I get one.  She related that her Mom has basically the same set of existing conditions I have, plus others, and she got her vaccines with no problem.  I guess that's a good recommendation! So I will make arrangements to go and get a shot in the arm!

Wishing all who are here a beautiful Good Friday, and Blessed Easter.

jane

Tome...good for you getting your regular checkups and catching things early...and for considering the vaccine with your doctor's blessing.

jane

SharonE

I second Jane's comment, Tome. Good to catch things early.

I don't know if I said that my mamm was good, but it was. Thank heavens.

We had a "cold" front come thru with freezing overnight and highs of 50ish for a couple days. A little warmer today and supposed to be sunny & 70 tomorrow for Easter and up to 80 later in the week!! NC weather is ridiculous--up and down, wet and dry, you name it. Worse than Indiana.

I got the laundry done today, but not much else. Lori is over the worst and got thru both interview sessions and now is just tired and congested.

I hope everyone has a blessed Easter! Sharon

Cottoncandy

Good morning Buddies....not much going on with me....did go to my sons for fish fry yesterday..out side..no little ones to watch hunt eggs..but visited with older grands...it is warm and cloudy here...going in to church this morning..celebrate our living Savior....here's wishing a happy healthy Easter to all

Marilyn

Good Morning Buddies. Gilbert would rather I get a house than a manufactured home in a trailer park. So He is coming up here to help me get the old furniture into a dumpster after he and Forest  cut it up. They will be trailer the Opel classic car down and put it in storage. Forest wants to restore it. After that weekend I will be working on getting rid of more stuff and packing up what will go with us. Around the first of May I will put this house up for sale so tht I can pat cash for a place in CA. So that is the plan for now. The realtor there and Gilbert will be making the decisions. I am so glad I have that worry out of my hair and can relax and work stress free. Keith's sons  don't seem to be interested i helping. Well they just don't give a rat's patootie.

maryz

Marilyn, glad your boys are taking charge, and getting things done. I know you're relieved and happy to have things moving along.

Margaret came by this morning to visit and bring "stuff". She was also heading to get her 2nd shot. I told her that lots of folks (including Kate) felt miserable on the day after the 2nd shot, so she's taking that into account, and not scheduling anything tomorrow.

The flower trees are SO beautiful in TN in the spring - and also bring SO much pollen and allergy problems. We move right along, though. Our highs here are supposed to be in the high 70s for the next couple of days - making it way too warm in my southwest facing apartment. I think I'll probably be turning on my a/c for a while this afternoon.

Happy Spring, Buddies!!

Hi Gals, We had a lovely Easter going back to our Fort Mill church and seeing a lot of friends and actually being in the sanctuary.Of course, everyone was spaced out, masked, and temps taken, but still great to be there. We will probably start going to the church service here that has just started up again, but it won't be the same.

After church, we took Bunny for a walk to the lake, and then I cooked a simple dinner. Still nice. Wish we could have seen some of the kids, but not possible.

Marilyn, I'm so glad your boys are coming up and are going to pitch in to help and also find you a place to live. Keith's son's are despicable IMHO. I shouldn't judge, I know, but I can't believe they are leaving it all on you.

Jane, hope you had a good visit with your sister & bil.

Mary, glad you got to see Margaret and that she is going to get her 2nd shot today.  Pollen is bad here too. John is even taking some antihistamines.

Hi to Darlene, Jeanne, & Alpiner. Hope you had a nice Easter. I'm off to play bridge.  Hope it's better than last week.  Sharon

jane

Marilyn...sounds like major help from Gilbert and Forrest.

Sharon...good to get back to your old church.

Mary...more "stuff" is good and to see your girls, too.

Darlene...sounds like a lovely Easter for you as well.

I'm enjoying this visit with my sister and brother-in-law.  We're going out for supper tonight to Cedar Rapids and they'll leave early tomorrow morning.

Weather in incredibly warm....82 right now, but to rain and cool down.  This roller coaster of temps is hard on the body.

Take care and stay safe,

jane

jane

Good Morning.  My Sister and brother-in-law are on the road home...a 10-12 hour drive, depending on traffic.

I have laundry after the visit, of course.  But no rush on that.

Stay safe and healthy,

Jane

Good Wednesday Morning, Buddies!

It's turning into summer very quickly here. Outside highs around 80 now. It got up to about 83 in my place by afternoon, and I've turned the a/c on for a while to get it back into the mid70s (my comfort zone).  I hope everybody is enjoying some spring weather, though - the good kind, not the severe stuff.
