Yes, Mary, we've had lovely temps too and SUN!! However the rain is to return tomorrow & part of Sat. We actually reached 86 yesterday!

Jane, glad you had a good visit with your sister & bil. Hope the laundry doesn't take too long. That is one household chore I don't mind too much.I agree about the rollercoaster temps & weather being hard on the joints.

I had a much better bridge day this Tuesday and had 2 full tables, so no table hopping.

My cleaning girl didn't come yesterday, so am waiting for her today. The maintenance guy did come and looked at the tree I'm trying to get cut down and said he will try to get it on the list. The landscape company has been cutting down and removing a bunch of old trees and redoing the landscaping around the main building, so I hope it will be approved for ours. It is a trash tree that sheds bark, leaves, flowers, berries, the latter all year long and they get tracked into the house because it is right next to the walk by the front door. I have no idea what kind of tree it is, but I hate it. The squirrels also use it as a ladder to the roof! Oh well, enough of that.

I hope everyone has a good day. Lori is better. Hasn't gotten the final word on the job yet but should soon. She's still in the running.  Sharon

maryz

jane, fortunately your laundry can be done piecemeal.  Glad you had a good visit.  I'm glad to be able to spend some time with Margaret a couple of times a week. And with other daughters when possible.

Sharon, our cleaning gal got to our rooms for the first time in several weeks. She's been substituting for an RA in the Memory Unit.  Our wastebaskets are emptied and beds made daily by the RAs in our section, so that's not a problem.

We had lots of rain overnight. Margaret took me for a quick followup to the cardiologist this morning and there was a severe thunderstorm alert while we were there. The folks here all got herded into an unwindowed corridor, but it was all over by the time we left the doctor. And no damage that I've heard of.

Super news for me - I have an appointment for a mani/pedi next week. I had asked our ED if that would be possible, and she sort of said it was a "don't ask/don't tell" thing. So we just decided to do it.  ;)

Same story on the rain here..on and off, but only low 50s.

I've still got laundry in the basement to do, but joints hurting, so it can wait.

I did get out to WalMart for some groceries.  I needed a dessert to take to couple who's still staying in, except for his therapy and church.  I picked up an 8 piece variety cheesecake and that'll do.

Take care and stay safe,

Jane

Morning, Glories!   :2funny:

Back to late winter weather here...40s, windy, and rainy gloom!  A real inside day!

Hope you are all well and safe,

Jane

SharonE

That was a kind thing to do, Jane. I'm sure they appreciated it. Laundry will wait till you feel like climbing those stairs. Fortunately, we haven't had any stairs since retirement in 98! And boy has that been important much of that time. We've had a few sprinkles this AM, more serious storms later in the day. Fortunately, John got his walk in before it started to sprinkle.

Mary, enjoy your mani/pedi. I got my nails cut by the podiatrist this week, but still want to go in and get a gel manicure at one of the shops.I'm glad you didn't have problems with the storm. Also glad your cleaning girl is back. Mine did come on Thursday.

They pressure washed the front of the villa, the windows and porch area yesterday. Looks nice. However, they took all the furniture off of the porch of the villa across the street from us and she is out of town, so John had to go over and put it back up when it had dried. She's the one who lost her little Yorkie recently.

I need to go get started on my laundry. Nothing planned for the weekend.

Jane, just saw your new post about the return of winter weather--boo hiss!

Hope you are all well and have a nice weekend.  Sharon

jane

This must be an off weekend for all of us.  It sure is for me.  The rain, cold, gloomy weather has me hurting and not interested in doing anything.

Guess I'll go back to reading on my iPad.  What a blessing it is for me to have it and all the books I've added over the years or can get from my recliner.

I talked to Patricia yesterday and to my Sister as well.  So, I'm all caught up on Family Goings-Ons.   :2funny:

Take care and stay safe,

jane

And another windy Monday is here!

Hope your week is a good one.

Hi Buddies...haven't posted  in last few days...went to my daughters..then we went to see my new great grandson....love the little spoiling I got in....hope everyone is doing fabulous...we are having a warm spring...really need rain...Hi to all

SharonE

Darlene, good to see your post. Wondered what you were up to. How wonderful you got to spoil the new great grandson. I'm so jealous. My new great grand won't arrive till June, so have no idea when or if we'll see it any time soon. Did you ever get your vaccinations? Hope so.

It is a gorgeous day here, about 80 and sunny. John swept and cleaned everything on our balcony so it can be used now. Looks so nice. He's out getting the car oil and lube maintenance done. I haven't done much of anything.

Jane, hope you're feeling better. Mary, when's the mani/pedi scheduled?I know you're looking forward to that.  I got a call from the clinic about my arm splints and have an appt for Fri AM. I'll sure be glad to get them. Hi to Marilyn, Alpiner, and Jeanne--it's her birthday today, but I wished her a happy one on FB.  Have a good day everyone. Sharon

Hello Buddies. Well the Corvette  is at the shop it needs an alternator, EXPENSIVE  Oh Well it has to run in order to sell it.

I ordered the dumpster yesterday to be delivered on Friday, Gilbert will be here Saturday. I hope someone comes with him that ca help him lift the hid a beds and other heavy stuff into the dumpster.

I didn't sleep well last night and me pretty tired today. Keith woke me up at 12:20 am.I dind't go to sleep after that.I can't wait to get the heck out of dodge (this house). The smell is getting worse, maybe because the place has been sut up all win ter. It needs to air out. The cats will be going away tomorrow, A friend I use to work with at Snipped will pick them up and take them to a kitty rescue for me.

jane

Wednesday greetings!  Good to see Darlene, Sharon, Mary, and Marilyn posting.

Marilyn...getting the corvette running should make for a quick sale.  Good for you.  And the cats are going away for good?

It's still cold and windy here, though trees and plants are leafing out.

Nothing else new here. My pedi for yesterday was canceled....she has covid!

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

maryz

Happy Wednesday, Buddies!

I got my first mani/pedi in a year.  And it was WONDERFUL!!  :excited:  This was a young gal (20s?) from Ukraine, but who went to high school in California, and graduated from a local TN community college. Obviously has had some training in massage therapy - and I have VERY happy feet!  I'll definitely be going back. Also Margaret got a bunch more of my paintings and photographs from the storage unit. She didn't have time to get anything hung this time, but maybe I can make some decisions as to where I want to put stuff.

Glad everybody seems to be doing well.  Hugs to all!
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

SharonE

Jane, so sorry your mani/pedi was cancelled. We had 80's all last week. It was wonderful! However, starting today, we'll be around 70 for a week, but that's the average for this time of year. The pollen is awful and so are the maple seeds, but mother nature has to do her thing too.

Marilyn, sorry about the loss of sleep. Don't know of a solution for it. Maybe an Alzheimers group would give you some ideas on how to corral Keith at night without it being dangerous or scaring him. Great about the dumpster and the cats.  Will Gilbert pull up the carpeting for you too?I do hope that you can sell the Corvette when you get it running. Thinking of you in this time of trial and tribulation. HUGS!!

Mary, so glad you found a good person for your mani/pedi and have happy feet now :D .  I know you will be happy to have your paintings and photos back. A place just isn't home without them, and especially for you since they are your own paintings.

John ran errands yesterday AM and then repainted a garden statue of a cherub that we have on the balcony. I went to a social for new residents. Yes, I know we've been here for months, but with everything shut down earlier, they hadn't had a meet and greet for a long time. It was nice.

I didn't sleep till after 2:30 last night. Don't know why. So dragging today, but nothing scheduled.  Hi to all.  Sharon

jane

Mary...Hurrah on a good pedi and getting some of your art in your place.

Lovely Friday here now...61 and the wind has settled down a bit.  I did go for a brief walk, hoping it'd loosen up these painful joints, but no luck.  Still glad to get out for a bit, and came back in with sneezing...yep...allergies on high alert here, too, even though I take 3 allergy meds.

I canceled a trip to Mpls next weekend with the MN-WI family. The spring changes in weather have my body hurting, and  I'm not sure Mpls is where I want to be at the end of next week with the problems in Brooklyn Center and a possible verdict in the Chauvin trial.

We're going out to a "family restaurant" tonight and our second couple is joining us.  They haven't been out since the Covid thing, except for PT.

Have a good Friday,

jane

maryz

Sharon, hope you get a better night's sleep tonight. I'm usually up once or twice during the night, but just go to the bathroom, never look at the clock, and frequently change from the bed to the recliner. In those segments, I sleep pretty well. It works for me - I think we all get unique routines.

jane, I agree that I wouldn't want to be in Minneapolis right now. Such a sad set of circumstances on all sides.

Spring tends to bring a lot of the "creakies" - along with the sneezing. All the up-and-down temperatures, intermittent rain, going with the beautiful flowering stuff.

Margaret and Jean are coming together tomorrow and will get much more stuff hung on the walls.  Jean is very good with the arrangement of things, and Margaret is good with the ladder and hammering. I'm VERY good at watching.  ;D

Happy Weekend, Buddies!
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

SharonE

Jane, I think you made a good decision on the Mpls trip. Not the place to be. I worry about Jocelyne & family up there, but they are in a suburb, so safer, I hope. It's been in the high 60's the past 2 days here and we have NO heat! We normally keep the house at 76 and it is 68!We're freezing. I've called maintenance 4 times now and still haven't gotten anyone out here. I don't understand what the problem is, but the Executive Director is going to hear from me on Monday! It's not helping my joints either!

Mary, had to laugh at your statement that you're good at watching! Me too! Although I know where I want things to go, etc. Enjoy!

I went to get my arm splints yesterday and they didn't have my size in one of them, so I have to drive all the way back on Thursday to get them both. It's about a half hour drive, but a lot of traffic which I don't like much.

Lori got the new job!!! She will be a VP of IT & Security staff working under the CIO. It's a big Mortgage company. I don't know all the details yet, but I'm relieved. She has been with her current company for 9 yrs, but it seems rocky, so she wants to bail before they do.

In addition to that, John & I have decided to take a Tauck river cruise from Paris to Lyon and into Provence. We have seen most of it before, but not for a long time and we want one last hurrah. I hope I'm up to it. I've got to start walking more and go over and ride  the bike in the fitness center and see if that will help.  This trip will be to celebrate our 60th anniversary and our birthdays. Our anniversary is in June and our birthdays in Oct, so we are taking a Sept 25th cruise. Hopefully, things will be safer by then.  So for a change, I had something to say!
Hope you all are having a good weekend.  Sharon

maryz

Sorry about no heat, Sharon. Ain't no fun - as they say. I like to keep my place about 76-77, which is cooler than most around here.  Your trip sounds wonderful. We loved t he river trips - always something to see - even if you don't leave the boat, or go far from the dock.  Hooray for the new job!

Getting in my first trip to go to Atlanta tomorrow for Alden's birthday party (birthday is today).

Margaret and Jean were here for nearly two hours, and got lots of stuff on the walls. Now to "fill in" with smaller pieces.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

jane

Hurrah, Mary, on getting your things on your walls.  This weather sure does bring out the "creakies" for me.  It's lovely here, and I did get out for a short walk and have my doors open...not good for the allergies, but I love having fresh air in.

Sharon...your trip sounds marvelous.  BOO on the no heat.

I'm finishing up a second load of laundry and then will be finished with my "work"...hahaha...for today.

My neighbor is supposed to come over with her bill for the snow removal.  Her dad said she had her ACL repaired three weeks ago and can now go without crutches....playing soccer, I think, is how she tore/destroyed it.

Nothing else exciting here.

Stay safe,

jane

jane

Sunshine this morning, but rain and SNOW in the forecast for tonight into tomorrow.
 SNOW???   AACCKKKKKK

Lazy Sunday on tap for me.

Stay healthy,

jane

Marilyn

God morning. Gilbert, Forest and I  fully loaded a 2o cu yard dumpster yesterday. Oh my aching back!!! Gilbert brought me a dozen fresh eggs from their chickens.  There is more work to do but we will need another dumpster. I will post  a photo of the dumpster on FacebookThey will be over today before returning home and make another trip  up here  to do more work and to trailer the Opel GT back with them.

We spent last week in Las Vegas at our timeshare condo & got home Friday around 9:00p.m.  The traffic was heavy going & coming home .  My husband suggested I do light grocery shopping here in town on Saturday & save the big shopping for tomorrow .  He was thinking how tired I would be & I was glad I listened to him !  With having to wear the mask &  having breathing issues normally I would walk a short distance & need to find a sitting space & wait for my heart rate to slow down .  I told myself sit down & rest or you will end up on the floor .
We met with my husband's sister & family for dinner & had dinner at the Cheesecake Factory . On the way back home we had breakfast with my husband's sister & her husband in Bull Head City & afterward they showed us a house they had just bought .  They seem to like the area but its a bit too dry for me .  Its good to be back home & be able to relax .

SharonE

Jane, SNOW??!! How awful in mid April. This has been the weirdest year weather-wise. The guy finally came today to look at the furnace, tried replacing the thermostat, but that wasn't it and he didn't know what else to do and was to go ask his boss, so we still don't have heat and supposed to get down in the 30s the next 2 or 3 nights! UGH!

Mary, hurrah, you're going to Atlanta and see the little guy! You just can't miss out on opportunities like that. Glad to hear that the girls got more pics up.

Marilyn, you must feel so relieved to have one dumpster filled and removed. Rest up before the 2nd one. You don't want to throw your back out in the middle of this move. Might help to wear a brace. Just an idea. I know you are so glad your son & grandson could come help.

Alpiner, I'm glad you had a nice time in Vegas, but please take it easy when you shop. Have you ever used a motorized cart? It sounds like a good idea for you. I've used them from time to time and so has Mary.

Brian is hosting a family party June 12 to celebrate Braeden's college graduation and commissioning in the AF. I am so excited. I don't know if all the grands will be there, but I hope so. Brian lives near St. Louis, so after the party, we are going to fly to Des Moines and drive down to Hubbard, IA to visit John's sister. It's been a couple years since he's seen her and a lot longer since I've seen her. She is in an assisted living and has early Alzheimer's or dementia, but she was thrilled to hear we planned to come when we talked to her last night. We call her every Sun. eve.

We have friends from Carolina Lakes coming to visit tomorrow for the first time. Looking forward to seeing them.

Off to dinner now.  Sharon

maryz

Marilyn, sounds like you're making good progress.  Hooray for your son and grandson helping. Remember to rest occasionally.  Got to take care of you, too.

jane, they're even talking about occasional snowflakes here, too, in midweek. Fortunately, nothing could stick on the groung - it was in the 70s today. Spring is such fun.

Sorry about your heat problems, Sharon. Glad you're going to get out of town to visit some family.

We had a wonderful day yesterday. The weather was great, and traffic was not too bad - of course, I wasn't doing any of the driving. Alden is a beautiful baby - sweet smile and very blue eyes. The "party" was just for grandmothers - two grandmothers, two great-grandmothers, and one great-great-grandmother. We just stayed for a couple of hours, but took gobs of pictures, and everybody got to hold the birthday boy. Then coming home, after we got past the Chattanooga area, Margaret got off the interstate, and drove me through back roads and a lot of lovely towns (especially Sewanee, TN). We didn't get me home until after 7.  I did sleep well last night, and got in a little extra nap this morning. Then Henry's first birthday will be next month.

Today, I had my semi-annual internet conference with my financial advisor. Third virtual one - maybe in person for the year-end one (she's in Chattanooga, but handles Margaret's stuff, too. So we could have a double conference.)  She's doing a great job for me, and it's wonderful to know all is well in that area of my life.

Hope everybody has a good week upcoming (except for some snow).

SharonE  When grocery shopping I'm fine if I have a cart to hold on to .  But walking from the parking lot into the store I need to rest after I get inside .   The dr. says my lungs are tight .

jane

Tuesday greetings!

Marilyn...whew...one dumpster load gone...and what a blessing your son and grandson are.

Mary...what a wonderful trip to see the newest baby.  And a nice drive home in the country.

Alpiner...hope you won a lot in LV and can now enjoy being home and resting up from your "vacation" away.  It's always good to get away and good to get back home.

Sharon...Does your community have responsibility for your furnace, etc.?

Darlene...glad you could enjoy Church on TV.  I'm not someone who enjoys crowds and so I go to church when nobody else is there.  Some people love the "social" aspect of the church crowd, but I'm not one of them.  So great we have choices! ;)

Nothing much going on here.  From the description of all the activity in and around Mpls, I'm glad I decided to stay home.
We can facetime and that'll be fine.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

Marilyn

I got word yesterday the Keitgh's 3 boys are going to come down May 14, we will see if that happens. I will have to get another dumpster for that weekend.  Not a large one but a much smaller one that  is under $200 There is a Manufacture home coming up in about a month. They are starting work on the siding and windows this week. So I will get this house up for sale around May 1, I still haven't sold the corvette.

jane

Marilyn...hope all works out well May 14.

This is supposedly the last cold day for the next 10...but my Sis in Ohio had snow last night and lots of the Midwest has freeze warnings for tonight.

I did a little kitchen cleanup this morning and then a bit in the basement by the washer and dryer.

Nothing much else going on.  Going to catch up with my bookkeeping after this and then read this afternoon.

Stay healthy and safe,

jane

SharonE

Wow, lots of activity in here. Mary, it sounds like you had a wonderful day. What a neat idea to have a "grandma's" party for the little guy. How wonderful that there was a great great grandma too! The drive sounded nice as well.

Jane, glad the last of the cold weather is passing you by now. My gs in IN said they were to have snow too. Yes, the facility here is responsible for the HVAC, etc. After the thermostats didn't prove to be faulty, they finally got an outside guy in Monday evening about 7:30 and he got it fixed. It turned out to be a loose wire!

Marilyn, hooray that the boys are coming down. I hope they can be some real help for you. Sounds like you're making progress.

I had a rude awakening this AM, my computer was dead! I had to drive nearly an hour to the computer geeks we use to have it fixed. It turned out the battery was dead and even with a cord, it wouldn't turn on with it not functioning. Anyway, the guy took it out, and it booted right up. I didn't even get a new battery since I keep it plugged in all the time. He only charged me $25!  One of the reasons we go there plus they're really nice guys and know what they're doing. Best Buy would have charged me at least double that or more.

We had a lovely visit with our friends from Carolina Lakes yesterday. It was so good to see them.  One of their sons is a missionary in Cameroun.

Bridge was good yesterday afternoon. We had 3 full tables. I had made a pitch for more players at a get together last week and guess it helped.

Hi to Darlene and Alpiner and Jeanne.  Sharon
