Domestic Goddess: Is this correct, if one would like to post/share a recipe, we do so here?  If so, was searching to see if there were separate recipe categories?

Ah, Janie, you are looking fantastic!  What a great birthday series of bashes from your kids. Does it almost feel like a "back to normal" time?  Thank you Amy (and Bubble) for helping to share the party with us.

MaryPage

Oh Happy Day!  Hooray, hooray!  So nice to see you being gay!  May many delights adorn your way!

For Shirley

Took a few photos this morning, I am so excited how much the lettuce is growing & the Early Girl tomato plants have blooms, as well as that big Beef Steak plant that had blooms when I bought it.
They dropped off those 2 nights below freezing, even though covered, but got more again.

The last shot is closer to the fence around the yard & shows more the difference in altitude above the river.
All those trees have grown since we bought this place, not a single sprout in the first years photos.

WOW Shirley, our plants have yet to come into the  stores, soon though. Soon you will be eating toasted tomato sandwiches with fresh picked lettuce on it.

Sent you an email..

Impressive!

One of my granddaughters sells, from her home only, salad gardens for kitchens.  They come in all sizes, from quite small to enough for a humongous family. She herself has a medium size one for their family of five. I could not possibly get one in my kitchen, but most of the family have them now. You can grow whatever you want in the way of green stuff for salad making, and tomatoes, as well and all. I am unable to show you a picture, but you can Goggle them.

MaryPage

I should say I am not talking about pots, but cabinets.  Large cabinets with lights in them.  They are glass and metal and have shelves with plants, the number of shelves depending upon the size of the cabinet.

Shirley

Thank you, Bubble, as usual you made the photos look better than what I sent! I am thrilled with my garden so far but not sure if I need to build a house around it to save from this awful wind & hail we get so often!

Mary Page, this is not the same kind as what I find at the summer outdoor markets.... and I do hope the tomatoes taste like the old fashioned ones (without worms). Seems most of the growers around here are doing like your kids, and I do like the idea of no sprays or bad fertilizers, so
hope these don't taste like "hot house" since they are in the real sun. Not right now but as soon as I get my rear in gear to uncover! :-[

Thank you all for the comments, I'm like a kid with a new toy, one that I can eat! And my plan is to fix a salad like my grandmother's, with "a teaspoon of sugar to a tablespoon of vinegar, & wilt it with hot bacon bits & grease". Took me years to realize I wasn't limited to that teaspoon & tablespoon.... haha, I was not a born cook! :-\

Those darn yellow dandelions are driving me nuts, I take my "picker" out nearly every day & gather a shopping bag full, but the hill behind & neighbor on one side is covered. I'm not willing to use sprays that kill the birds & make the cats sick when they lick their paws.

FlaJean

Shirley, I love the looks of your garden.  Is the garden in what you all are calling a trug?  Such a good idea.

Lovely photo of the grandchildren, Mary Page.  I only have grandsons---no girls.

FlaJean

A very short video I made of swans gliding together on the water.  Interesting that swans mate for life.

Jean, I loved it! I'll have to find and post a photo I have of the two types of local swans

Amy

Jean, I also loved watching the swans plus the music.

There is nothing more beautiful in nature than swans swimming.  Love them!  The music that fits that best, IMHO, is "The Swan" from Saint Saens "The Carnival of the Animals.  I don't know what it is to be able to compose music or draw or paint; I don't know how those so gifted hear and see things, but I'll tell you, that man wrote the perfect piece.  Whenever I hear it, I see swans such as these (thank you, Jean) and whenever I see swans swimming, I hear that music! Genius! (not me, the composer!)

Shirley

Beautiful, Jean. I tried to leave a comment but couldn't remember my password... Been a long time since we've done videos! Great job. Long, long ago (grin)... I used to watch the swans on the River Thames, when we lived in England. I was told that "all the swans on the river belonged to the Queen".... They looked like yours, suppose some migrated?

Oh, yes, this is a trug like Amy's husband builds. My kids bought me one for either Christmas or birthday & finally got it put together last month. They were hard to find 6 months ago but now it seems every store sells them.

FlaJean

Thank you for your nice comments.

Patricia, I look forward to seeing photos of the local swans.  Everything in Alaska interests me.  It is one of the very few states I haven't traveled to.

MaryPage

Jean, I think your swans are Mute Swans. From what I have read, they are becoming the most common swan in the States, and some places are beginning to find them a nuisance.  All that aside, I find them lovely. This is also the variety we are most likely to see in my area of the world.

I have spent the last few days going through my stashes of PSP and other stuff to clean some out and reorganize others. And I found this from 2017 Halloween! Talk about a trip down memory lane!

I wonder about Sato... It's been a long time. Same as for Sachiko :(

patricia19

I knew Sachiko was ill, but that was several months ago. I knew Sato posted on Facebook, but I deleted my FB account some time ago, so I no longer see his posts.

I wonder if you or anyone can post all the names on your ghost graphic, Bubble?

I don't know the woman under Gloria nor the woman under Jack, altho she looks very familiar and perhaps someone close to Callie?

Here are some past photos of swans at the Refuge for Jean.

That's a Trumpeter, Patricia.  I have yet to get the hang of "liking" your post.  The biggest problem is I only remember things for about 10 seconds, if that.  in my current condition, I doubt I could successfully pass First Grade again.  I think they would label me retarded.  Actually, I don't recall the use of that word when I was very small.  I think the term was backward, but what do I know?

Well, I know this, Girlfriend: I am more likely to be correct about something back in the nineteen thirties than I am about anything in this 21st centure!

So put a like on your post for me.  Or does that show up as you liking you?

MaryPage

Including spelling century.

patricia19

MaryPage, see the word like at the bottom left of someone's printed post? Click that, and you're done. I don't think the likes show on your own posts.

In the Interior, we have two types of swans, Trumpeters and Tundra swans. Sometimes we'll see a few Whooper Swans visiting from Asia.

so_P_bubble

Sorry Angel, but I am a terrible physiognomist, I did not even recognized a next door neighbor in the street and she was horribly offended.
Why don't you type on a  copy of that photo the names of those you know and then others can add to it? You or I can do the typing if/when other will provide the missing names.
