Marilyn, didn't think about no dogs in the restaurant. Yes I saw the two cuddling in the FB post. So sweet. Can Millie walk as far as Freckles?

HOT< HOT and very humid here....and to be all week.  All sorts of heat warnings out.  I put an envelope our to the mailman to pick up and it's almost impossible to breathe outside.

The town is having a Rhubarb fest down by the river with vendors, etc. but it's too hot for this ol' lady to go down there.
It's nice to have the festivals back, though.

If the heat and humidity is your way, stay safe!

jane

maryz

Stay home in the a/c, jane.  I don't do hot and humid, either.  They've lowered our predictions to the mid80s this week, but with lots of rain showers (hence humidity) all week.  Oh, well - I wasn't going anywhere anyway.  Oops, forgot - I am going for my mani/pedi. :smitten:

We were in a parade this morning in a small local town .  Lucky I brought along an umbrella .  It was hot !   I saw only one porta potty , so had to suffer in silence .  Home now & is sure nice to be cool again .

SharonE

We're in the mid 80's also with high humidity and a storm beginning as I speak! We just got back from our long walk with Bunny to the lakes and it was very warm although not unbearable. I was dressed lightly and had a hat on. Certainly was good timing on our part!

John spent the morning putting together a cart with shelves that fits by my chair and will help me organize my clutter. I got it all arranged and it looks nice. I ordered it from a catalog, so wasn't sure if it would work, but it does.

Jane, glad you decided to forego the festival in the heat. Rhubarb pie sounds delicious! John isn't a fan though.

Mary, I'm going to try to get a mani/pedi tomorrow or early this week also. Leaving for Brian's on Friday.

Alpiner, I bet you are glad to be home.

Wow I just heard a big clap of thunder that sounded close! I read that the Eiffel Tower was struck by lightening yesterday. It was an awesome picture. I guess there was no damage.

Nothing else going on here. Tomorrow is Leyton's 9th birthday! Hard to believe.  Stay in and stay cool everyone.  Sharon

jane

Back to 90 today and a hot wind.  I was in all day except to fill a bird feeder, put water in the birdbath, and water a couple pots of geraniums.

I think tomorrow or Tuesday. I will need to do more watering, but I have. Prescription to pick up, my plumber to pay, and get more bird seed.

Stay safe and cool!

Jane

Marilyn

Gilbert and Sonya  hauled the Opel to Ca yesterday and aksi tiik some of the bookcases for me. My cleaning girl is helping me get packed up. We did most of the kitchen yesterday, with lots going to Goodwill, and the trash.

Cottoncandy

Hi everyone...it is very hot here also with high humidity..I was walking. By 8:30....still hot walk...Jane looks like you have hot weather also..Sharon my husband name is A.C.....Arthur Calvin but went by initials..I think Sharon was asking...Hi to Mary and others reading...take care

SharonE

Darlene, yes, it was me. I knew Jane & Mary's husband's names because I had met them, but didn't know yours.

Marilyn, it sounds like you counting down to the final days now. Hope it continues to go smoothly.

Jane, you're hotter than we are. We're in the low 80's. The rain cooled us off a little. We really needed it too. Good luck with all your errands tomorrow.

Today was my run-around day. I got my mani/pedi at noon, then drove across town to pick up a disc with x-rays on it for another Dr. then farther south to Lowes to return some stuff & pick up some rose spray. Then back across town to near us to a UPS to mail the disc and then home. It took me about 2 hours and I was surprised I got home that fast.

Tomorrow is bridge, then I start packing for our trip.

Have a good week everyone. Sharon

jane

Sharon...these 90 degree days and high humidity to continue through next week and very little chance of rain.

Marilyn...wow...you're making progress.  Is your new place secured in CA near Gilbert?Did K's sons ever come down to help you or see their Dad?

Darlene...Hot here, too.

Mary..hope all is well with you.

I went over and got my bloodwork done Thursday and have heard nothing from my doc. I looked it up online.  Yes, the A1c is still 6.2. But, my sed rate has gone from 35 to 64.  That's the inflammation marker and in women 0-29 is the range.  I'll take the results to the rheumatology NP on Thursday.  No wonder my joints and muscles hurt so and I'm so tired.

I also ran some errands..out to pay the furnace bill, got my script and more AREDS 2.  Then I did lunch out and brought home enough for supper...grilled chicken salad.

Stay cool and safe,

Jane

jane

Morning, Babes.

Not much going on here...too hot.  I did set up the sprinkler and will move it when I finish here.

Clinic called about my lab work.  I'm afraid my PMR..polymyalgia rheumatica is back.  My sed rate is twice what it should be, so good I have an appt with rheumatology on Thursday.

Stay cool and safe!

Jane

alpiner1

My husband & I both went to have lab work done yesterday morning  at a lab in a drugstore our doctor had told us about .  We tried making appts. online but couldn't get early enough appts ( fasting )  . So we went to the drugstore , signed in & waited .  We arrived at 7:40 a.m. , others who had  made appts. came in & we were put at the bottom of the list .  Finally about 9:30 a.m. we were called .  The restrooms were out of service & no drinking fountains .  I was in misery !   When my blood was being drawn it clotted in the tube & vial from lack of water !  I hope they got enough blood to test !

maryz

I hate the kind of weather you're having, jane. No wonder your polymyalgia is acting up. Hope it moderates soon. Have you ever heard anything from Sue's son, to know how she's doing?

alpiner, what a downer for you and your husband. I hope your tests results are good.

Sharon, I hope your trip is uneventful and that you have a great weekend.

Marilyn, just a few more days. Good that some of your folks have been able to help you. I wonder, too, if Keith's sons ever got down to see their dad.

Darlene, stay cool!

Nothing interesting happening around here. But my mind is already thinking about our trip to the beach. That's actually coming up in about a month.  ;)

Hi to Jeanne, and anybody else looking in.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

jane

Alpiner...we don't have labs in our drugstores.  The only choice here is the hospital lab.  Hope you get your results soon. Does someone like CVS or WalGreen's run those?

Mary...no, nothing from Tim about Sue.

I'm spending these hot days watching Hallmark Mysteries...better than anything else on TV for me.

Stay cool and safe,

jane

Marilyn...wow...you're making progress.  Is your new place secured in CA near Gilbert?Did K's sons ever come down to help you or see their Dad?  Jane, Keith's sons visit was  very disappointing They got  the photos I set aside for them and a few other things. They brought us breakfast at noon. The oldest sat across the table from Keith and told him "THIS IS THE LAST TIME WE WILL SEE YOU"  Then turned to me and said " TAKE ALL HIS MEDICATION AWAY ESPECIALLY HIS BLOOD PRESSURE PILLS AND I WILL GIVE HIM 3 TO 6 MONTHS TO LIVE Needless to say that ain't going to happen.

Slowly by surely I am getting it done. My freind who cleans my house is helping to get things packed up and labled she has taken some stuff for her Pet Store and other stuff to the Goodwill for me.

I fell Sunday evening and skinned my knee and my arm. My ankle gave way while I was walking home for a neighbor's with both dogs on the leashes. I was so glad that I could get up an finish walking home with no broken bones. At this age you never know when something is going to break.

Jaywalker

Marilyn, I'm shocked!!  :o  How could anyone do that to their own father?  Did he say that in front of Keith?  I just can't believe it!!  And, you have had such a load on your shoulders these past few years that it has taken a toll on your health as well.  I can assure you that I am hoping things go more smoothly with this move, and that you can finally have a place to relax and enjoy your family and home. Take care, my friend.  :hugs:

Marilyn...all I can say is OMG!  I guess it's safe to say K's family was very dysfunctional from years ago.

Jaywalker....good to see you.  Hope all is going well for you.

Nothing else new here...still in the 95 temp range.  I did go to the hospital for a copy of my bloodwork as I can't get my printer to print anything but the headings.  She copied the two pages for me to take to Rheumatology tomorrow.  In the meantime, they called and have sent a prescription for me for prednisone...the only drug for PMR.  They wanted to see me in a week, when I said ..."So...my appt tomorrow?" and the nurse didn't know that, so I'll go down and give her my blood report and talk to her.

Other than that, I'm just keeping up with my laundry and the dishes.

I'm sure looking forward to feeling better when I get the med going.  Sharon knows the feeling of hurting all over and how it gets to you mentally.

Take care and stay cool!

jane

Cottoncandy

Jane so sorry your not feeling well...hope the Meds help..Our temp is a very hot 90 degrees...but we will spect it in Texas..Marlyin u probably can't read thus..but thinking if you trying to get moved to ur new location...that wasn't very nice if K son to comment as he did..Mary know you are looking forward to ur trip to the beach..Sharon hope you enjoy your trip....Hi to all reading

SharonE

Marilyn, Oh my goodness! I would have been hard put not to tell him to get out of the house and never come back! I never heard of such a thing!  I'm glad everything else is going well and your family is supportive and you soon will be near them.  Sorry about your fall, but glad it was just scrapes and bruises. I am terrified of falling since I broke my pelvis.

It's 90 here and humid too and is supposed to be hot at Brian's near St. Louis. Everything is going to be casual and meals there, so don't have to pack much.

Jane, I'm so sorry to hear that your tests were bad. I hope they can do something for you. I really, really need to get in to see an arthritis Dr and at least get some NSAID's. I went off of my diclofenac because it didn't seem to be helping anymore. Now I need to see if something else will. I hurt all the time too, but I'm sure not as much as you do. I've started taking at least one Tramadol about 11:00 and Tylenol at bedtime and that helps, but it doesn't completely do away with it. It just means I can function. Jane, I hope the prednisone helps. How long can you stay on it and does it alleviate the pain longterm?  Your problem is different from mine, though the pain is the same to some extent.

Mary, thank you for the good wishes for our trip. I'll be so glad when we are on board the plane. We're going way early + I'll have a wheelchair, so hopefully there won't be a problem, but they are saying they are way understaffed at the airport.

My neighbor across the street, the one who lost her dog about 2 mos ago is going to pet sit Bunny. That will be really convenient for us, but don't know what to give her as a thank you. She doesn't drink except Champagne occasionally, so guess we will get her a bottle of that. I also may look through some of my devotional books and see if I see one she might like. She is very devout.

Hi to Darlene, Alpiner, Jaywalker and any others I've missed. Stay cool if you can.  Sharon

Marilyn, I'm so sorry! If they felt that way, I'm surprised they even showed up at all.  What schmucks! It'll be good to be even farther away from them.  Hugs!

Jaywalker, He said that right to his father?s face. The only thing  Keith remembers about that visit was that he was supposed to have 3-6 more months to live. He also knows I make him take his pills twice a day  and that he is not going to die in that short time.

Sherry when he said those words to his father all I could do was to cry and tell him it is so hard to even think about things like that.

Thank you Darlene  did read what you wrote

I have repeatedly told Keith that his kids "don't give a Sh**" The oldest one just proved my point, and he calls himself a doctor. I wonder if he treats his patients the same way. and thier families. Now I have to go over to the lab for a blood draw. I have an appointment on Monday.

Jaywalker

Well, I couldn't help myself when I read Marilyn's post.  I come here often to see how everyone is doing.  I just came from my follow-up app't for my b.c. and everything is good...finally got to meet the "new" doctor since Dr. Cherry retired (over a year and a half ago!).  After she was supposed to retire, she kept showing up to fill-in for other doctors.  The first time I asked her "What? Didn't you like retirement?" and she said "Oh, I had to come back to check on you!"  This afternoon, Dr. Peng (who was standing there when Dr. Cherry said that) remembered that and said "She wanted to keep you for herself."  Anyway, I am doing fine as far as the Cancer Center is concerned, and don't need to go back for a year!  That's one thing behind me and now I have an appointment with a cardiologist tomorrow because I have developed another thing to check on.

Seems I have been experiencing A Fib regularly, and sometimes continually, for some time.  Tests have shown that, and that my heart is slightly enlarged and there is fluid in the lower lobe.  Now, that was a surprise to me because I have not had pain nor noticed a racing heartbeat.  But, then, the tech who did the echocardiogram said often people don't have any symptoms.  Sooo  here we go again ... off on another adventure. ::)

Marilyn I would have been livid!!  I agree with Sharon... he would have been swiftly ushered out of the house. I'm sorry Keith had to hear that and that his son thinks he won't live much longer.  I remember this "doctor" wanted to wash his hands of him in the very beginning, too.  It's a shame family can treat each other so hatefully at a time when they should be most caring.  >:(

Jaywalker, I was 15 years past my cancer treatment, when I was diagnosed with heart problems. I was going to see a cardiologist and wound up in the ER, a pacemaker the next day, and two heart valves replaced 10 days later. It was ALL new, and quite a shock - to say the least. It seems I'm in a-fib all the time, but it's not anything I've ever noticed before, or notice now. And they keep telling me that the pacemaker is working just fine, and keeping track for them. (This was 5 years ago.)  Hang in there!
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

Jaywalker

Well, Mary, that's what they're telling me.  I had the monitor for 3 days, and then the echocardiogram, and was told I had been in a-fib the whole time!  Yup, talk about a shock!  I had just gone for a routine visit to a new doctor and ended up having security called to bring a wheelchair and rush me to EKG, which resulted in prescriptions for Eliquis and a blood thinner as well as a diuretic for the fluid buildup.  I have experienced shortness of breath for a few years, whenever I walked very far or such, but put it down to being old and fat and to be expected "at my age" This new doctor loves to remind me of my age!  Says I am at risk for a stroke, too. ??? Oh, well, I am feeling better already since taking the new meds.  I'm also scheduled for a bone density test on the 21st.  I'm 6 and a half years post cancer.  BTW I never had either chemo or radiation after the mastectomy.  That was after my daughter had been through a terrible ordeal with her cancer, and the same day she announced that she was in remission!  Sadly, that only lasted a few months and it came back with a vengeance and she was gone Sept. 2, 2016.

Jaywalker, I take warfarin and seem to doing okay on that. Eliquis is not for people who have had artificial valve replacements, and I've got two. So I'm happy with taking a generic cheap Rx, and not the new expensive one. My 63-year-old daughter was just diagnosed with some blood clots and put on Eliquis. That was a surprise, to say the least.

I'm 85, and have been overweight most of my life. Also with the shortness of breath. About 4 years ago, I saw a pulmonologist and was diagnosed with "mild to moderate" COPD, and am on Anoro for that. Doc laid that on my having smoked for about 20 years (quit in the early 1980s). At least she didn't mention weight and/or age.  ;D Good luck with all the other tests.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

SharonE

Jaywalker, that must have been a shock. I was diagnosed as having congestive heart failure at age 57 and told I had 5 yrs to live. I had a golf ball size clot in my ventricle and only 20% ejection fraction (55-60 is normal) but a new drug came out and within 3 yrs I had and still have a normal and stable ejection fraction. Of course, I am still on the medication and will be forever. I'm almost 82 now and doing fine. I'm a 20 yr survivor of BC as well. God is watching over me.

Tomorrow we leave for St. Louis. I sure hope everything goes smoothly at the airport.

I've done a couple loads of laundry and am partially packed. And I just heard from our Pastor that she is going to drop in in a few minutes. Will be so glad to chat with her. This is the first visit since we moved, due to the pandemic.

All for now. Back on Monday. Sharon/b]

Jay walker. I think I have had A Fib longer that  when I was diagonosed in Dec of 2018 when I ended up in the hospital with a heart rate of 170 and had a Cardioversio . I am on Eliquis, Metoprolol and Amlodipine since then. My heart still races and it hurts when the rate goes up to 130-150 and it goes over 100 every night while I am sleeping and wakes me up. By the way I got a new phone awhiel back and lost your number. please text it to me , email or call me.

I am taking a break now , my back hurts so I need the rest. I was bent over my cedar chest for 2 hours cleaning it out, discarding stuff and pack stuff in garbage bags  so that when they move it they just take out the bags lift it than put the bags back in.  I found thing that I need to notify other extended family that are in my possession that they may want. Please excuse any typos that I missed.
