Much cooler here in northern Wisconsin.  My computer nephew fixed my phone...installed a micro sim card I didn't know it would hold...had to open the back to find the slot, etc.  He did all of that, and nephew had an extra micro card, so I'm set for a while until newer phones are available.

It's a bit hectic here...7 adults, 3 dogs, 1 year old toddler.  But it's a good time.

Hello Buddies. Well Gilbert and Sonja both have Covid. They refused to get vaccinated and probably still won't. They came here last Sunday to bring me eggs. Tuesday the got tested and Friday got the results,( they must have been sick when they were here) Saturday Gilbert told me he got it first doesn't know where he got it. (he works for an Oxygen company) So they must have been sick when they came here. Anyway I have an appointment to be tested tomorrow. I'd rather be safe and know  if I might be asymptomatic even though vaccinated. I heard that the Delta Variant incubation period is only 3-5 day. That news was certainly something I didn't want to hear. Other than that news All is well here.

maryz

So sorry, Marilyn. Hope the tests go okay.

Good Monday morning everyone.Marlyin here's hoping ur and K test negative for covid...Jane wishing you a safe trip home..always good to get away from daily grind for awhile..Sharon we are in a heat wave here...I remember having chicken pox as a child...really broke out..Mary Z glad u tested negative..hoping quarantines doesn't last long...Hi Mary P...wishing everyone a great week

SharonE

Oh Marilyn, I do hope you test negative. I'm sorry your son and wife didn't get shots. I have 2 grandsons that didn't. Just don't understand that lack of faith in science.

We think maybe we can get the booster shot before our trip. At least going to try. Have been doing a lot of planning and checking on things for our trip.

Really hot here today, but Bunny and I still took a long walk. Yesterday, I went down to the 2nd lake which involves a steep hill, with John & Bunny. Did okay. Was the first time since my knee surgery in June.

I'm leaving shortly to get a manicure. Having lots of trouble with my nails tearing at the quick. Don't know why.

Hi to all. Hope Jane gets home safely. Hi Mary, Darlene.    Sharon

jane

I'm home...6 hour trip, and lots of construction, but all is fine.  I had a wonderful time, but it's good to be home.

Mary...The rainfall there in TN from the storms must be horrendous.

Sharon...good for you on the walk.

Darlene...hot and humid here again, too.

Marilyn...sorry Gilbert and Sonja didn't get vaccinated.  Are they very sick?

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

MaryPage

Thank you, Ceci.

Glad you're home safe and sound, Jane.

My darling great grandson Jack lost his very dearest friend to a drunk driver last week. Jack remains in my head as the dearest little redhead the world has ever seen, albeit he is 21 now, and my very tall and handsome redhead. My heart hurts for him so badly. You know how it is when you are wishing you could absorb the pain for those you love.

This appears to be the time of transitions from home to college or home to school.  Third grader Mateo and First grader Solo boarded their school bus this morning and were delivered back this afternoon. Solo had but one thing to report, and that was all anyone could pry out of him: "No one got in trouble today!"  I told his grandmother, my daughter Becky, that said it all for me, too! For Solo, I call it a very successful first day!

I have six in college this year. Our Young Sam (to distinguish him from his grandfather, Old Sam) is in his 3rd year. Bobby, my tallest at six four, and Jack, three inches shorter, work and study.  I think they are in either their 3rd or 4th years. Brooke begins her 3rd year, Bella her 2nd, and Lulu her 1st. I will be kept busy all year just trying to keep up.

My sweet, sweet Bella (Annabelle) seems to have been created from pure sugar: you would say the same. Yet she is going for Criminal Law and hopes to become a Federal Prosecutor. Go figure! Sam is a Music major. He is a cellist and a classical composer (has already had two paying commissions!) and hopes to teach at the college level. And compose. The others are not entirely certain yet, albeit Brooke knows she is going to do SOMEthing with her art. She is a fabulous talent.

I'd better get the old lady in her bed. Trip to the cardiologist tomorrow. Means an early morning.

Goodnight. Sleep tight. Don't let the bedbugs bite.

And sweet dreams.

Marilyn..a worrying time for you waiting on the result but, relieved to know your Keith never came in contact with them..I hope this will be a hard lesson learnt for Gilbert and Sonja that they could unwittingly pass this evil onto people like you, their close family...maybe in future they will think twice about having the vaccination when offered...

MaryPage

Bubble has posted a photo of MaryZ and me in Photos.  I think it was posted back in 2016, also, when it was taken. Now that I have aged so very much more, I find myself yearning to be THAT age again!

maryz

MaryPage, that was such a fun day. All the families doing well, it sounds like. Although sorry to hear about your grandson(?)'s loss.

Marilyn, I hate that about your son and daughter-in-law. Keep us posted as to how they (and you) are doing.

jane, glad you had a good time and safe travel.

Sharon, sounds like you didn't have too much trouble from 'Fred', although there was damage near Asheville.

The flooding last weekend was awful! The ground was so saturated from previous rains, there was no place for the 17" of rain to go - so it just ran. It primarily affected four counties about halfway between Nashville and Memphis. I'm just southeast of Nashville, about halfway between Nashville and Chattanooga. We got some rain, but not anything like that.

Hang in there, Buddies!

MaryPage

Hi, Mary. Thanks, and it was my, IS my, great grandson. I never had a grandson, but have 13 granddaughters, and they range in age from 34 to 56.  I feel so bad/sad about the flooding, and hope you do not experience any bad weather events.  Life seems to be like one horror story with no ending these days.  Even World War II was easier to live in!

Marilyn, hope your dear ones beat the Covid. I feel more hope from the news now, as there seem to be thousands more getting vaccinated.  We may reach herd immunity after all, and this virus will not be able to change into any more deadly versions of itself.  Did you know that General George Washington ORDERED his Revolutionary Army be vaccinated against the Smallpox?  We could not have had the manpower to beat the British and win our independence (to not be vaccinated?) if Washington had not had the foresight to give that order!  Look it up.

jane

MaryPage...so good to hear how well your grands and greatgrands are doing...and sorry for Jack's loss.

VJ...good to see you posting here, too.

Sharon...glad you had no damage from the hurricane.

Mary...17" of rain is beyond unbelievable.  Good nothing damaged at your place.

HOT here today ...even too hot at 7:30 to walk...so I got out to the stores to restock and to pick up my mail at the PO.  Now home cooling off and waiting for my pedicure at 2:00.

Tomorrow is the dreaded dentist appointment.  UGH.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

jane

Big storms rolled through here yesterday.  I was at my pedicure when the warnings started, so she finished me up and I ran to my car...barefoot with the foam dividers between my toes... :2funny:  and got home and car in garage before it hit.  Lots of limbs out of trees and smaller branches everywhere.  My dear neighbor came over to see if everything was OK...and he'd dragged the big limbs to the curb for me for the city to pick up.  More storms expected today.  A couple businesses had their roofs stripped off.

I survived the dreaded dentist visit...no cavaties...so got out in an hour.

Nothing more this week, nor next week medical/dental wise.  WHEW!

I hope you're all ok and no bad weather in your part of the world.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

Marilyn

My Test came back negative. YAY!!!!

maryz

;D jane, I can just see you hopping through the parking lot! Seriously, though, I'm glad you were able to beat the storms. Obviously they were really serious. And you survived the dentist, too!

 Hooray for you, too, Marilyn!

All tested negative here again yesterday, so we're back to our new normal, out of quarantine, etc.

HURRAH for the negative tests!!!

Vanilla-Jackie

Marilyn...
...bet you have been on tenterhooks these past few days, wondering which way it would go, thankfully it went the right way...you have been given the " all clear "

jane

Not a good day here for the ol' joints and muscles.  Too dang many weather changes.  Thank heavens I have no place I have to be and my trash and recycle bins are at the curb for pickup.  Tomorrow I expect the fellow who does my lawn and he'll pick up the branches and leaves that litter it.  The city was by and collected the large branches.

Today will be spent in my recliner with cups of tea and my heating pad.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

SharonE

Hurrah for the negative tests, Marilyn & Mary. You can breathe easier now. I've been looking into getting our booster shots before our trip, but they are not available now except for the immuno surpressed. They think we will be eligible in a couple weeks. I hope so anyway.

Mary, it looked like the floods were horrendous in TN and I wondered about you and your family. Glad it didn't affect you.

It's still hot here, but I did get in a half-mile walk with Bunny at noon. I am now about to go to the fitness center to ride the bike.

We've been getting organized for our trip and ordering a few things on line that we think we will need. Thanks, Jane, for the name of Zappos. I did order a pair of Ecco shoes like the ones I had bought from them before. I hope they fit as well. They are black slip-ons with a good arch and thick sole for walking that look better then tennis shoes.I had 2 prs of them before and wore them until the soles actually fell apart!

Jane, I'm glad you had a good trip, got home safely, and were able to get a pedicure yesterday. I got a manicure on Monday. I hope the weather settles down for you so that you feel better.  I had a slug day yesterday after 2 days of walking a mile each. I was hurting yesterday.

I better get going to the fitness center.  Take care, everyone. Sharon

Sharon...glad you got the Eccos. I love those sandals.  I've worn them on all our foreign trips and around home, too.  They last forever and have such good support.

This has been a real slug day....every joint and muscle hurts.  There are storms headed this way, too, again.  The heat index is over 100 and it's hard to breathe out there...even in the short time it took me to drag my empty garbage and recycle bins back from the street.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

Cottoncandy

Jane and Sharon.where o you order the shoes from....

jane

Darlene...Zappos.

https://www.zappos.com  They have a large selection.

I tried a short walk today...Thunder had me returning home and I got the garage door opened just as the rain started.

Stay safe and healthy,

Jane

SharonE

We haven't had any rain yet today. If we get any, it is usually late afternoon or early evening.  Bunny and I got a long walk in at noon. It's hot, but most of the area we walk is shaded and I take water for both of us. I haven't done much else. I had hoped to have a cleaning lady this week, but for the 2nd week, I haven't. It makes me so upset. I know they are short on staff but at least they could rotate them. Grrr!

No other news going on here. Sounds like the same with everyone. Sharon

alpiner1

It was 100F when I came out of the grocery store this morning & the heat will continue for a few more days .
I went to the dentist yesterday for a cleaning & couldn't wait to get out of there !  My jaw joint was aching & popping , I thought it might start quivering !  This has never happened before .  My age is showing for sure !

jane

Sharon...good for you on the walking!

Alpiner...This seems to be the week for dental visits.  UGH!   :o

I've been awake since 3:30...thunder storms rolling through.  I finally got up at 6:00am.

Nothing much going on here today...

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

SharonE

Laundry day here as usual on Sat. Took Bunny on our half mile walk and then later did 20 mins on the bike which puts me at a mile plus on steps. Nothing else going on.

Still hot and humid (90's) here and we're supposed to get lots of rain from hurricane Ida Wed & Thurs. We'll see.

We are to get our regular flu shots 9/14 here. It's so nice to get that done on site.

Jane, I hope you are feeling better. And that everyone can stay cool. Alpiner, sorry about the painful dentist's appt. Unless they are doing something unusual, I never have a problem.

Hi to all. Have a nice Sunday.  Sharon

maryz

Hurricane Ida looks like a real baddie! We'll probably get a bunch of rain from it, but unfortunately so will that area that flooded so bad last weekend. I hope that area doesn't get too much rain.

Stay well, Buddies!

The weather has sure made for a frightening time all across the country...from hurricanes to wildfires to scorching temperatures.

Nothing new here...I tried to walk this morning, but only  made it a short distance before the humidity made it too hard to breathe.  I'm back and watching my Hallmark Movies and Mysteries.
I don't know what I'd do without this channel.

It's supposed to be better this next week with less humidity.  I sure hope so.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

Hello Buddies. Well here I am, did ya miss me? LOL  :2funny:

All is well here, I am getting ready to order a new phone, And get on a regular network instead of using the cable network. I can't even download an update on my current phone because the Spectrum password isn't working for me. Going 1. get a better phone and 2. get a bigger phone, I can't hardly read the keyboard to text so I use Voice to texts  and the auto-correct gets me every time putting in words that  didn't say.I hate when I send out a text and then go back to re read it and see  stupid mistaken words that don;t make any sense out of a sentence.

alpiner1

Wow !!  We just had a much needed thunder shower !!  It sounded like the mountain near our house was struck !
