Good Morning Everyfriend!  The sun is up and it's 40º and just a bit hazy.  But it's heading for a high of 72 and that's fine with me.

GLORIA, I still like my baked potatoes in the oven!  That's how I learned to eat them and that's how I like them.  I do "tolerate" them done in the microwave if I'm in a hurry, though.

I'm learning some computer and telephone stuff from my family expert while she's here.  She is so smart about both phones and computers and I'd be crazy not to ask questions.

I have to go swish my medication in my mouth and then I can't eat until lunch time.  So I'm finishing my second cup of coffee and then swishing and taking a walk.  Frankie is off today and I won't have Cooper but my other daughter in Maryland is coming up here tonight so we can all be together.

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

I'm sitting at the computer with one leg ready to jump up, got the pool man coming at "10ish". I was up early but organizing these cats is like putting on a flea circus... Tiger is still off somewhere in the house or basement sleeping so her salmon is sitting on the counter.

Got the sprinklers running, they are really pumping out the water since Andy fixed them last time. So far my big sweet gum tree is hanging onto her leaves, one down the street already dropped about half because that yard never got watered all summer.

I need to go vac the pool before they come to close. They usually do that but this time I want them to do the side walls & tile because that's harder for me with this rib, got to be nice & clean before all the chemicals to close. I was pleased this spring when we opened, still nice and clear compared with years before this guy did the closing.

Callie, only time I have to take the cats is when I'm going to be gone overnight. I really do enjoy driving a car "like normal little old ladies".

I do love potatoes baked in the oven but I can't bring myself to run the oven that long for just me. I use the microwave & then either mash & put lots of butter & shredded cheese over or put in a skillet of butter & turn them into hash browns. Potatoes are my "soul food or comfort food", satisfy or soothe the head & tummy.

City mowers are out probably doing their last trim of the season, got hooded sweatshirts on so guess it's still pretty chilly. Wishing all a "Thuper Thursday"... (thanks, Callie).

Jane, I'm liking the sound of your trip and betcha Callie & I can come up with a plan~~

Not long back from my morning church games - tea and prayer then into the adjoining hall for our lunch...what a fantastic time i had at our table and with the people who sat with us... A very enjoyable meal and great company as we reminisced about things we remembered...i relayed a story about the life of my time working in the betting office, and someone remarked on the good memory i have after i even remembered the name of the horse and the name of its trainer...and this was a story of a punter from 45 years back..

Snow tires are on and I hope they wait a long time before they play in snow!!

We also love a baked potato with a crispy skin. I will do them part way in the microwave then put them in the toaster oven or I can't see why you can't finish them off in the air fryer to get that crispy skin.

Jane, I do have soup canned but not chicken soup and that is my go to when not up to snuff.

Jesse and Babe met the hen that comes over from time to time. I held my breath thinking oh my feathers may fly
but they just looked at her and she just toddled along back home.

Shirley would the rescue remedy help your cats when travelling?

Amy and I do our baked potatoes the same way...I put them in the microwave for one cycle of of potato bake and then finish them in the Cuisinart counter oven for the crispy skin that David likes.  It's quicker.  I can't eat the skin so would probably fix them only in the microwave if cooking just for me.

We've been pre-occupied here with appointments and all kinds of things that need to be done before the end of the year so I haven't been here for a few days.  I was sorry to hear about Rammel's wife and hope that he will be back with us when he has worked his way through this difficult time.  My prayers are with him and his family.

Also, thinking about you, Jane, and hope that things are going well with you.  So glad your family is being so supportive.  That means so much.

If I have neglected to say "Hooray!" for all of you with good news or, "I'm sorry" for all of you with worries of any kind, please forgive me.  I've fallen so far behind.  But, I think of all of you and wish you the best.

Take care, All.

Good Morning,

Shirley, I agree about using the stove oven just for me and use a good-sized toaster oven - - unless I'm "cooking ahead" to put in the freezer. Also have a 1 1/2 quart slow cooker for the same reason.  (I do NOT mind left-overs and can almost always find something else to do besides be in the kitchen  :) )

Because I'm limited on # of carbs I can have per day - and really prefer some kind of bread/rolls/etc. to potatoes- I don't keep raw potatoes on hand.
I've come to depend on the refrigerated mashed potatoes - regular, "loaded" (like a baked potato with bacon, etc) or with white cheese.
So the micro ready baking potatoes are a nice change and I can turn them into "twice-baked"/stuffed ones in the toaster oven.

Yes, indeed, we will come up with A Plan when Jane is in the area. Looking forward to that!

Repeating what Shirley said I said  ;) re: having a Great Day.

patricia19

Good morning from the Interior, where the only change from yesterday is that the snow expectations for overnight got pushed back until Sunday. Farrah is slowly loosening the reins and no longer keeps a close eye on me for any signs of construction noise panics.

I rarely have baked potatoes for some reason. But when I do, they're oven-baked. I usually have mashed, either alone or as a filler in soups or stews. I do like potatoes O'Brian sometimes in the morning with eggs. I tend to eat more grains or types of rice instead.

Jane, I'm holding good thoughts for you to have an excellent outcome and how nice the family is getting together with you. You do have a wonderful family, very loving, and that goes back to you.

Amy, you are either off to the city or off to do chores; sometimes, I get tired just reading about your adventures!  :)

Relieved when i saw my call-up to book my covid 6 monthly booster number 3, gave me a choice of days and times but, whilst i was phoning community disabled transport before booking an appointment online, the appointments were going quick so i jumped in and have now secured both, the vaccine and transport successfully for next week..

Jackie, I am so impressed with all the good that has come with your move. You do seem so much happier, tell your new friends that "this old friend is very grateful for what good care they are giving you, my thanks to God you found them".

Pool closed down for the winter, nice man & son that works so well together. And now I've got to get busy & write all the checks for utilities and deliver to the post office & make a run to Sam's Club. I think I will be ready for a nap when I get home.

Amy

Back home and ready to tackle the rest of the day.
Phyllis, have to tried peeling your potato, cook it in the micro a bit then put it in the toaster oven to brown and crisp? This will make a hard shell to which I will cut the potato open, scoop out the potato, slater some butter and lots of garlic powder in the shell and eat it!!

Patricia, this is an easy week so far. Next week it is two trips to the hospital  and hope nothing in between crops up. I have a very good feeling on our trip next Friday..

Thank You
Thank you all for the Prayers and nice comments.  I'm not good with words so there will be few. Just want all to know it's great having you as friends when needed, and now was the time.  All your words have helped my son and I through the past days.  As some have said, time heals, so I will let time do it's thing. I actually wasn't going to post because both daughters have already gone to bed and one is sleeping with me but I had to say, "Welcome back, RicK"  I know the coming weeks will be difficult for you but you will make it with the help of friends.  I'm glad to be one of those friends!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning.

Tis coat weather out there this morning 36°with a high of 42°

Off to  get a few groceries before the store gets crowded. Home to make pastry for some pies and clean.

Patricia, this is slowing down..and I am thankful for that. When we worked life was a tad busy but we got through it. I hope your snow stays away for a while as when you do get it to stay it comes in feet not inches!

Jane, enjoy your family. I can imagine the giggles and reminiscing going on.

Gloria we noticed a lot of trees are now bare..getting ready now for the next step for winter.

Better get my duds on.

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

Good morning everyone, don't think summer wants to leave this year. I sure wish my AC was still in the window, would have been using it yesterday/last night.

JANE  if I am in a hurry I will turn on my counter oven to warm up and them put a tater in the microwave for a couple of minutes and then into the hot  oven. It cuts down some on the baking time by doing it that way and still get a crispy skin.

AMY  as much as I always loved snow I am not that way now except to look out the window at it when is is pretty and clean covering every thing. I no longer make any appointments in winter but from early spring till late autumn-in between I jus t want  to stay home. Now I know I am OLD.

PHYLLIS  some days I just do not feel like "talking" in here and today is one of them. Just want to go back to bed.

RAMMEL  good seeing you back. Like you I am not her not good with words to express what I want  to say. Some things take more time to heal than others.

AMY  we have not even had a frost  yet. Cannot l these warm days an Indian summer just a crazy year for weather.

Have a good day, I t ink some of Jane's ZZZzzzzzs found my couch and calling me. Nap time, Yvette will be here at noon so have time for a nice nap.
Have a good day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend! It's 57º and cloudy this morning heading for a high of only 59 today.

AMY!  KEEP YOUR SNOW IN CANADA. PLEASE!  The border is closed to snow!

The only real plans I have for today is supper for Christy, Cindy, Frankie and me!  I got some haddock filets at the Farmers Market on Wed. and that's what we're having for supper with a jar of my canned potatoes in the air fryer or maybe the oven since it will already be on!  Don't know about the veggie.  I'll have to check what I have!

I wish you all a good day!  Better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Good Morning,

Janie, another delicious supper planned at your house!  :smitten:  Meant to comment earlier on ham loaf.  I love it and used to make my mother's recipe but began to have trouble finding ground ham and didn't like what I tried to do at home.
Grocer told me they couldn't use the same grinders as they did for beef or chicken and it was too much trouble to clean it for one order of ground ham. Guess they didn't sell enough to have a grinder reserved.

Agree that border is closed for snow, Amy - although the Continental Divide near Leadville CO is covered.
Our cottonwood trees haven't even begun to turn color - much less fall off.  News sounds as if it's the same in the eastern part of the state, which usually has gorgeous foliage by now.

I finally finished writing my Dad's biography.  Now into the "labor-intensive" part of editing, rewriting and correcting typos.  May ask sons if they'd accept a copy electronically instead of printed.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere a Fabulous Friday (beat you to it, Shirley  ;D )

Amy

Jane, seems some here also do not want snow...but it is coming. The part I dislike is the snow, melt ,snow ,melt mess it makes.
Callie, I agree another delicious meal at Janes but then she is a good cook and baker!!

Good morning, 17 degrees here and no snow, the predictions keep getting pushed back. However, that cold, frozen gray slush is dangerous to walk or drive. Since we are in the 19th month of our total lockdown, there are few out and about, making for fewer icy falls and head-on crashes.

I'm still putting everything back together in my apartment, and Farrah now feels safe enough to leave my side even with distancing construction noises. I've got my hall walkin closet sorted and donated multiple items to donations and bins. My living room slash office is a work in progress, and my bedroom will be last.

They put in a smaller set of blinds with a top header, the blinds lengthwise. The blinds are still almost floor to ceiling but don't take up the entire wall. The bonus is that not only is there weatherstripping and no air leaks, but the blinds don't creak and whistle and groan when opening or closing them.

Rick, it was nice to see a post from you.

Jane, I know you're enjoying having your girls around and your family close!

I don't think I've ever had ham loaf or ground ham.

Amy, snowing. Isn't that early for you?  We had our first snow before the trees started coloring, and the leaves fell after the snow melted. It has to warm up to gain humidity for snow, and I don't see that happening right now. However, my dry skin and eyes have already made themselves known. Today, I'm cleaning my humidifier and putting it back out.

Amy

Patricia, no this isn't early. We have had snow on the ground other years.
I made the  Panera bread, chicken wild rice soup for lunch today  and it is a keeper. Mind you I will add garlic next time and more carrots.
Good to hear your blinds don't creak, whistle and groan anymore. Sounds like me getting up in the morning.. :2funny:

Snow has stopped and now 38° sunny with a bit of breeze that is blowing the bedding dry.

Got no time to talk but need HELP fast.  I've spent most of the day thinking about & composing a letter to my lawn mowing guy from Hell.... and want to put in the mail before I chicken out. I am firing him.... haha... with one week left to mow & I can't take it.  Had a look at the damage he did to the neighbor's yard and am just sick. They are so sweet & not blaming me at all or even acting upset, but after all they've spent to have it done over I do feel responsible & will find some way to make up.  BUT, that's not the problem, it is, and this is where I'm confused, is it my printer or computer that tells a page to put numbers on???  The page numbers do not show up in the "preview" but are there when printed.  I want this to look impressive & for one page I don't need to number it. Does anyone know if I need to go into printer settings or what.... I checked on Wordpad and it doesn't show numbers, just lay out of pages, etc. I have a new Brother printer & set up can print from any of the computers (thanks to #1 son, but he is off to a Scout camp out for the week end). I really don't know much about any of the equipment since "back in the day" when I worked, we didn't have computers.  :uglystupid2:

CallieOK

Shirley , do you have a "help" icon along the top of your page? If so  tap it and type in "delete page  numbers".  I tried this last night and got instructions on a side screen that stayed on while I followed the very simple directions

Shirley

Well, Callie, I found a place to "tick" not to add page numbers but it did it anyway. Maybe because the file was already in & if I'd turned the computer off it might not have?  Maybe the next letter or page won't auto put on. Thanks for the tip.

I discovered I didn't have his present mailing address so did a Google & found he has been notorious for pulling the same crap everywhere. NOT BBB approved and had 3 really bad reviews with same problems I've had. But I did get his address so need to see if it is the same as years ago when we used him. Kind of scary after what I just read, but that's why I wanted to put it in writing & not just try to call him. I don't scare easy but this is frustration & know nothing to worry about, I just don't like "uproars"... you remember, it wasn't lady-like back in the day! He never tried to bully my husband (Cas was a foot taller than him & looked like Robert Ryan with that stern-don't mess with me look on his face). haha, I may not be quite 5' but I got a Ruger & a Baretta & few other no names!!!   ;D

Shirley,  I tapped "Insert" - then "Page Numbers".  The list began with several choices for placing them, then "add page numbers" and at  the end of the list was "remove page numbers".  When I tapped it, they disappeared..

Actually, I don't think it would matter if you left the number. He probably won't read that far.
