Good morning everyone, 28 and frosty outside. Rained all day yesterday  and these ole bones sure still feel it. Ano ther day with a home maker and no t a CNA so no back massage again.

LLOYD  enjoy that venison.

PHYLLIS  I would rather have snow, at least it does not bother me as much as rain and the dampness does. At times I feel like I would like to move near my daughter in Arizona where it is much drier than here.

AMY  hope and pray today is  the day Jane makes it home. It is always easier to feel better at home.

JANE  YIPPEE  so happy to see you here this morning.

AMY  baking will keep your kitchen toasty warm. It is on rainy winter days I wish I could s till bake. If I did manage  to get some thing into the oven I would never be able  to get it out out of this big oven. Oh well.

Have a good day and say safe.

How good to see Jane's message!  All is well with our Soda Shoppe world.  Welcome home, Jane!

Cold here but sunny this morning.  Not too bad if I don't have to go out.  David will go pick up the grocery order later this morning and he doesn't like the cold but the car will be warm.

I must remember to thaw the spare ribs for Thanksgiving, Shirley.  No turkey for us.  And, we decided to have spare ribs rather than our traditional ham this year.  We can still give thanks over spare ribs in the spirit of the day, can't we?

Must get breakfast.  Time is flying by.  Take care, All.

Welcome home, Janie!... Are you counting the minutes until sprung?  ;)

Gloria, have you ever had Regina check to see what would be available nearest her?  For sure the climate would help the aches & pains & getting to see & hug your daughter would be healing....

Amy, I'm putting that stuff on my shopping list, worth a try!  Have to scrub the utility room floor before I start laundry this morning. Any suggestions?  Way it is~~ thanks for the tip.

My gr-son's father in law died at 4:30 this morning. My heart is so heavy for all of them, no easy way to leave this world.

Better get moving. Tom & Callie ate & went outside, Tiger ate & sleeping on a furnace vent. It is a wonder this end of the house is warm with Tom sleeping in front of the toe warmer vent by the sink all night, Callie sleeping on the last vent going north & south and Tiger sleeping on one smack between Tom & Callie. They put enough vents in this double room so this old lady keeps warm without laying on one!  :D  ;D

'Morning, Phyllis.... I'd rather have ribs but can't imagine how many it would take to feed this crowd. Besides, can't have the gravy, noodles & dressing without turkey so we tolerate to get that stuff. Once a year isn't too bad.

Hi to all that stopped in already this morning, not going to go back to check for names 'cause I know the computer will eat my words if I do!

Lloyd Hammond

Shirley your  gr-son's father in law that died , Is better off with god than we are here on this earth, It Is 32º and sunny here this morning, I have just been up about 30 Min. Not a good start My back and legs are both hurting, and for some reason My blood sugar is high 200 this morning. Have a good day everyone. see you all later.

Good morning, cold with 35 MPH winds and 45 below wind chills this morning in the Interior. We have snow predicted this evening which means cloudy skies and warmer temperatures are coming.

Everyone's had breakfast and showers, and nothing but laundry is on today's agenda.

Jane, it was so good to see your post! I join everyone in welcoming you back. You were missed! Amy has been nice to keep us informed, and everyone's been behaving. Mostly...

CallieOK

Good Morning, JaneS!!!!  How delightful to see you.

Shirley, Condolences to your family.

I need to do some errands and "I don' wanna". :(    Amy, I need you to put an egg in my boot so I can beat it. ;)

Enjoy your Day, Everyfriend.

Amy

YES YES YES, Jane IS going home today!!!

She will be tuckered out and so glad to be home!!

Callie, I too needed an egg in my boot but I did manage to bake a pie and put 4 shells for pies later in the freezer. Hope you accomplished all that you needed to do.

Shirley, guess I don't get "noodles" for thanksgiving?? Is it a Kansas Thing? LOL

Shirley

Tome, when I first heard about turkey & noodles over the mashed potatoes I'm sure my eyebrows nearly flew off my forehead. I could hear my mother saying, "that's starch on top of starch!" But my best friend of 40 years & my daughter-in-law of nearly as long grew up in south east Kansas and that's the way it's served there. Even the KFC in that corner of KS offered chicken/noodles to go over the mashed potatoes on their buffet.

My kids went to a little school on the edge of Wichita and the cooks at their lunchroom served those chicken & noodles, so when I started fixing them it didn't take long before it was as important as the turkey. Now I just buy 2 small turkeys to have one for the noodles with all the juices and add the drum stix to the turkey baked on Thanksgiving morning. Both get stuffed & extra dressing on the side and much of the breast gets sliced to go along with the main turkey so it's combined & couldn't tell which got baked first, it's a lot of food but the crowd multiplied. The last few years I've declared that I am retiring, but I volunteered "one more time" so am committed (should be). ::) The fun part is the rest of the women bring all the veggies & fruit along with desserts. I used to bake refrigerator rolls along with a cinnamon bread/twist that everyone loved but started making that for our Christmas gathering instead. I enjoy feeding my family, especially when the food gets rave reviews!

I did go out & scoop up enough leaves to fill the dumpster, and oops... the dryer stopped so must get clothes out fast....

Callie, so sorry to read about your DIL's back/hip & all, and the son that suffers with his. I do believe we can hurt more for our kids than for ourselves.

There has been so many with unusual problems lately I have sympathized as I read but didn't take notes. The last thing that goes through my head before going to sleep is to ask God to "be merciful to my senior family". That includes everyone we love, too. Fitbit tells me it takes about 4 minutes for me to fall asleep, that is how fast I say my prayers. Hey, I don't waste any time~~  So Sweet dreams and God Bless. Love y'all..........Shirley

Lloyd Hammond

Good Morning everyone. Hope you all have a great day. It Is 51º here @ 4:38 AM, I had a pretty good sleep Last night. see you all Later.

Amy

Good morning..

Tad chilly here 14° at the moment. Taking hubby to the chiropractor first thing this morning. Not sure what is happening the rest of the day.

I am another one that has not heard of turkey and noodles but love them both so why not?

Patricia, that wind would cut right through you!! Did you get the predicted snow?

Phyllis, ribs are my favourite....they win out every time. Are you doing them in the IP or oven?

Gloria, by the time the pie was done it was still too warm for supper but we will have it today.Choice of ice cream or whipping cream to go with it. Tried a new recipe from Rock Recipes , blueberry pie with cinnamon and nutmeg in it. Made a huge 10 inch pie that will be sahred with the neighbours and will put some in the hidey hole.

Lloyd, good morning to you and Nancy!

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Welcome home, Jane.  So good to see you here just like normal.  Hope today will be a good one for you.

Amy and Shirley, as it turns out I won't be having ribs for Thanksgiving dinner after all.  A dear friend and ex-neighbor came by and left a "small box" on my side porch yesterday.  In it was the entire cooked ham dinner for Thanksgiving for David and me!  Ham, sweet potato casserole, pineapple casserole, green beans, dinner rolls, and cake for dessert! All I need to do is heat everything and, maybe, add a apple/walnut salad. I was overwhelmed with her kindness and thoughtfulness.  I do have so much to be thankful for!

And, I am thankful for all my friends and especially, for being home and feeling better.

Take care, All.

Good morning everyone, a cold 29 now at 8:30 but was colder before the sun woke up. I did not  wake up  till just after 8 this morning. Slept good. At least I am getting a CNA today and will get my back massage.  The home makers cannot do that  and boy my back sure misses  the one I get 5 days a week.

PHYLLIS  if I was ea ting here today who knows wha t I would ge t pout  of the freezer, I know I would not be cooking a turkey. Only time I like it is on Thanksgiving day and just enough for a sandwich the next day and that is enough for a year.

SHIRLEY  I would not be able to live with the 100 degree temperatures they get even with the AC going all the time. Then again she said they have senior housing in town and they only get there once a week anyway. I like my 4 seasons here. Guess I am too much of a Yankee to move anywhere else.

LLOYD  that  is a high reading to start the day with. What did you eat  last night?

AMY  thank you for the good news  that Jane is going home today. Best news we had in some time. I wonder how many eggs it  would  take for me to beat  it. Love both cinnamon and nu tmeg and am wondering how i tastes in a blueberry pie.

JANE  welcome home at last. I know it felt  good to walk into your own home again. Now just take it slow and easy and not get into tearing the house apart cleaning. I know your daughters and grands kept it clean so you can  take i t easy.

PHYLLIS  wow that was a nice surprise for you and David. I rather have ham than turkey any day.

Have a good day and stay safe.

A Blessed Happy THANKSGIVING  Everyfriend , as it remains an event to be celebrated.
Thus call your relatives and friends whom are fully vaccinated
and chew down some  turkey, ham, dressing , pumpkin pie,
that is if everyone is vaccinated if not their loss :)

Remembering or reminding all
the Pandemic is not over

You have been there through all this, understanding

,thus my most gratitude for having you.

There is no amount of times I could write "Thank you"

that would fully encapsulate the amount of gratitude I have for you.

In recent years,

the lives of many people have changed.

But we will still celebrate "Thanksgiving" in one form or the other

I wish  you a Grand SAFE "Thanksgiving"

hopefully with Vaccinated family, all in good health, having fun to the fullest.

For we've learned in the past 2  years, it's that time is  such a precious gift :)

Janie, Good Morning and Welcome!!!    :balloons:  :grouphug:

Shirley, you remind me of my DIL's mother.  When Son married into that large family, it was "written in stone" that Thanksgiving was to be at Nana's house. In-law families and friends are always been invited but it's sometimes hard to feel really included when the conversation is basically between the core family members and those who are around them on a regular basis.

Phyllis, how lovely to have a real home-cooked dinner delivered to your doorstep.  Enjoy!

Mycheal, thank you for the lovely thoughts.

I found a web site for "walks through NYC" and watched one filmed yesterday as he walked the route of the Macy Thanksgiving parade.  It goes right by the store where Miss Ellen works! That's near Radio City Music Hall and commentator said that will be the densest crowd along the way.  She's working today and I hope she can get there through all the preparations.
She and a group of girls are having a "Friendsgiving" dinner and she/friend who is also a celiac are doing all the cooking.

Good morning, minus 21 presently with warming up and snow forecast for later today in the Interior.

Jane, I'm so glad you're back home and with family to watch over and help. This time will genuinely be a thanksgiving for you and your family!

Gloria, I've often wondered about what living in four seasons would mean. Here, in this part of Alaska, winter lasts from Halloween to Easter. In the south, where I spent ten years, winter barely made landfall, if it showed at all.

Phyllis, what a wonderful and loving surprise that must have been! It says a lot about both of you!

Mycheal, what lovely words for thanksgiving; thank you!

Dora gave me some advice in our call this morning; she saw it on one of those house organization decluttering videos. You run your bath full of boiling water with a small amount of Dawn dishwashing soap. In this, you place all your inside refrigerator pieces and let them soak until the water cools down.

After rinsing and replacing, everything is so clean and fresh with no scrubbing and minimal effort. She tried it yesterday and said she was delighted with the results. I only wish she'd told me earlier as I just cleaned out my refrigerator recently and had a mess for quite a while!

Thanks, Callie, and to you as well.

Amy

Turned out to be a nice sunny day here..temp is 36° far cry from Patricia's!!

Phyllis, such a thoughtful friend!! Spareribs can wait for another day. Enjoy your Thanksgiving dinner!

Callie, Friendsgiving sounds like a perfect name for the dinner for the girls.

Mycheal, we have already had our Thanksgiving in Canada. Each and every day there is always something to be thankful.

Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow.....may your tummies be filled with delicious food and hearts filled with love and laughter with your friends and families.

Good Night and sweet dreams. we are now @ 63º and cloudy, Hope you all have planed and pull it off a great day tomorrow. we plan on one at our oldest daughters House. Nancy is very sick with a bad cold. so she has no business doing a dinner.

Lloyd

Gloria

I doubt I will have time in the morning  to get  in to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving so am doing it now.

MYCHEAL  always good to see you pop into the Soda Shoppe.

CALLIE  I never felt out of place at my son Mike's  for holiday meals/ I knew most of his in-laws   before he ever started dating Shirley while they were in the senior and junior years of high school. Now my grandson does the Thanksgiving dinner and the only new ones are his wife's parents and they are very nice and sociable.

PATRICIA  winter is beautiful snow time, I still think it  is beautiful even if I no longer go out  for a walk in it. I rather dress in layers in the cold temperatures tan stay inside near  the AC to be cool. Spring when the days s tart getting longer and t he leaves start showing on trees and the yellow forsythia bushes start blooming and then  the lilacs start blooming and fill  the air with their wonderful scent. Summer can be great with all the fresh fruit and vegetables especially tomatoes. I think most  of us long for native tomatoes till we finally get  them. Fall is beautiful when the leaves start changing color. No t this year here,  though. We had a storm jus t as the maples in front were changing and  the rain and wind knocked them off the trees and t hey were bare  too early.  No tubs in this building so I can not try that dawn tip for the fridge shelves. At times I would love to ge t into a tub full of hot wa ter and just  lay back and relax. A shower is ok. I have a shower seat and will si t on it and le t the water beat down on my back and that feels grea t. When my son had the addition put opn their house in the mast er ba th they had the whirlpool one installed. The keep telling me when my back is really hurting Mike will come and ge tme son ge t into it. No way could I ever get a leg high enough to get  in to it. When we had out house it had one of those old fashioned claw foot tubs and ge tting over the high side I could do easy. Those days ore sure long gone now.

I was hoping t o see a short post from Jane but she must have been worn out dressing and getting home today.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving one and all,

Shirley

Love the card, Gloria, thank you! Happy to have Jane home, and Phyllis, what a great friend to be so thoughtful at a busy time.

I'm too tired to talk tonight, got the first turkey de-boned & the celery & onions chopped for the next one in the morning at 5:00am, plus the pot of noodles. I am worn out but the house smell is worth it. (Especially since I've been smelling those problem cats lately!)

After me picking up leaves this week and then hiring a crew to mow & clean up the rest, NOW the ground is covered with leaves from MY sweet gum tree. Ain't fair!  :tissue:

I doubt if I make it in tomorrow, at least until later in the evening. SO, Happy Thanksgiving to EVERY FRIEND. Sweet dreams and God Bless.  Love y'all.....Shirley

Amy

Good morning..

I will tippy toe and let you sleep..My friend and I are heading out to the city to do some shopping. She has not been in Costco and I can't imagine her reaction when she sees it! Men folk are staying home minding the "kids".

I know Shirley is up and about cooking!!

Jane, hope you spent a comfortable day and night at home. You were dearly missed!!

Gloria, I love the 4 seasons, each one has something special about it.  I know I may mutter about the dancing with Mr Snowblower or Shovel but it can be breath taking to see the snow first thing in the morning ,pristine and not a mark/track in it.

Patricia, they say rain for today..just hope it doesn't freeze .

Lloyd, there does come a time when we have to turn the chores over to the younger ones. Hope Nancy feels better soon.

Phyllis, now there is no work for you or David to prepare a meal...enjoy what your friend brought!

Sandy and Jenny, enjoy your time with your family.

Better get my city duds on..enjoy your day and stay safe..

Umm...leftovers will fit in the hidey hole. :)))

Happy Thanksgiving  to you!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL AND A BELATED ONE TO AMY!

Amy

Thank you Phyllis and Patricia for the Happy Thanksgivings..

We had a great day and yes we did spend money . :) Good job we had the van as it was filled!! We are both well stocked now for winter and what ever may come. We started out in rain but it soon stopped and on the way home it was foggy.
Not safe for passing but some thought they should.  :tickedoff: Couldn't see far in front of you  until on coming lights peeked through.

Shirley, what about getting a leaf blower??? Would that help solve your problem?

Going to put my feet up..
